10 Restaurants With Daring Designs You Need to See to Believe

"Villa Escudero Plantations & Resort, a former coconut plantation in Quezon, is home to Labasin Waterfall Restaurant, a unique dining experience set in the water at the base of an artificial waterfall. Guests enjoy a kamayan-style Filipino buffet lunch beside the rushing water from Labasin Dam, the country’s first working hydroelectric plant, which was built by Don Arsenio Escudero, son of the estate’s founders."

The 38 Essential Manila Restaurants

"Along a stretch of Maginhawa Street in Quezon City well-known for food, Provenciano serves heirloom Filipino recipes in a retro converted house. The specialties include adobong pusit sa bawang (baby squid cooked in vinegar and squid ink); KBL, or kadyos, baboy, and langka (pigeon peas, pork hocks, and jackfruit); and sugpo sa alavar (prawns in coconut milk, ginger, and turmeric). Don’t leave without sampling the bibingka (coconut-rice cake with salted egg) and puto bumbong (glutinous purple rice cake)." - Toni Potenciano

First time. Came for dinner. Good thing upon passing by (thinking there was no parking), there was one slot available and so we took it. We were seated quickly as they were preparing the table which was in their private dining area. The ambiance was busy and full of conversations. We were given menus upon sitting, and it didn’t take long for us to give our food order. Food was good and served hot-delicious and huge portion of kansi, tasty chicken steak. The staff are nice and quick to respond to requests.

If you're craving authentic Filipino food with a charming provincial ambiance, Provenciano Restaurant is a must-visit! The rustic décor, highlighted by a vintage kalesa at the entrance, sets the mood for a heartwarming Filipino dining experience.

We reserved for a group of 16. Table as set up and ready for diners who came in 3 different groups. Our 2nd time but the first was so long ago that i did not recognize it. Ryan? The waiter who yook out orders was helpful. We ordered which were served after 10 minutes. Great food, excellent service. Parking was available A very good 😊 I experienced. Highly recommended.

Adobong pusit is super oily with large fried garlic, but tastes good. Binagoongan is on the salty side but the liempo is great and still crunchy. I like the okoy + suka. Salmon sinigang is okay. Pritong chicken kulob is okay too if you like it to be bland. Pancit (looks like palabok) is tasty. Sisig is masarap. Calamares is good. Leche flan is super sweet, bibingka is a blast with all the toppings, ube halaya is okay, palitaw is okay too, turon with choco dip is good. 😋 Service is good. Not too long wait times, except for the pako salad which came in late, I wasn't able to eat it as I was already full! Had it at home and t'was good!

This was my second time dining here. Place is nice, like a classic Filipino home. Feels a bit crowded sometimes. Service is also ok. Here’s what we ordered. 1. Lychee and watermelon shake - overly sweet, too much added sugar. We diluted it with another glass of water and it’s still overly sweet. 2. Okoy - It’s ok, no pun intended. It’s very crispy and thin, something new for okoy texture. Shrimpy enough but don’t expect any texture from the shrimp. The classic shrimp ok is still superior. For an appetizer, it satiates you so fast, like a couple of bites. Bilis makaumay. 3. Piniritong kinulob na manok - Menu says it’s served with liver sauce like a lechon. It was served with banana ketchup instead, like Max’s. I think it’s also fried in lard or animal fat which impart a rich flavor (not ok). Nakakaumay. 4. McArhur Rice - looks ok but doesn’t really taste good. Too rich, nakakumay. 5. Puto bumbong - was it over-fermented? It’s too sour for a puto bumbong and the last flavor you’ll taste is that of crackers like SkyFlakes. 6. Bibingka - this is the best we ordered from their menu. Just lacks some smoky flavor you’d expect from a bibingka. On my first visit, we ordered kare-kare and it was mysteriously sour. Very few meaty pieces as well.

My go to Filipino restaurant! If I have to impress a relative or a friend, I bring them here. Wide selection of Filipino food from mains to desserts. The price to serving ratio is really 🤌. My favourite is their kansi! A must try. Service was fast, and all of the dishes that I tried were flavorful. Limited parking in the area. They can also accommodate reservations.

Looks very nice inside with a traditional old Filipino feel. We went to eat Halo-Halo; however, for some unknown reason they said it was not available. This dessert seems to be a real Filipino specialty that should be always available. A little disappointing for a place with such high reviews. 2nd visit: We had 12 people and were seated immediately. The food and drinks arrived timely and the food really was above the standard. Most felt that the Sinigang was a bit too tart, but most of the nine dishes we ordered were fabulous. Provenciano is a top-rate restaurant with very good, traditional Filipino fare from many provenances. On a side note, as in the 1st visit, they were out of a few items, thus I deducted a star.

I was able to try this restaurant few years back and really enjoyed the food. I even consider it as one of the best Filipino restaurants. That is why we opted to try it again now that I have tried several good Filipino restaurants. FOOD: Gising gising - 4star, even though it was not made from the usual sigarilyas, it was still good, with the proper level of heat. I just want the gata to be a bit more toasted to capture that smokey taste Pork Sisig - 5star really delicious and tasty. Far from the usual sisig with soy-mayo sauce, this is without any sauce, not dry but not crispy as well. Baby Pusit Adobo - 5star this is for me the best we ordered, very delicious, but on the salty side, perfect to pair with rice. The baby squid was perfectly cooked, I just wish the portion was bigger. Chicken Tinola with Gata - 2star, this is probably the biggest disappointment, the taste did not sip in to the chicken meat. I also wish they put more ginger. This for me lacks taste Bibingka - 4star, I love bibingka, this was good but for the price I was probably looking for something more special. Personally I feel like Manam's was a bit better, I even personally prefer Bibingkinitan SERVICE: Upon entering, we were quickly greeted and assisted, crew were very attentive and helpful. They missed serving our drinks, but it only took one follow up for them to quickly serve them. ATMOSPHERE: Clean and nice, with a traditional Filipino decor with slight eclectic vibe. Spacious and senior friendly. Overall, although there were disappointments we still enjoyed our dining experience, It may no longer be on top of our list for Filipino restaurants but it is still one of the good options. Probably we ordered the wrong dishes and might to revisit this and order other items from their menu.

Yelp
I had a lunch date with a good friend yesterday here and it was such a delightful experience. Ambience - The place had the vintage house renovated into a restaurant feel. Very Filipiñiana in decor. As soon as you reach the restaurant, on your left side is a makeshift 'bahay kubo'. A small house made of wood, bamboo and nipa hut. This is where they cook the bibingka (rice milled cake) and puto bumbong (purple sticky rice topped with grazed coconut, margarine and palm brown sugar). My favorite desserts in the Philippines. Delicacies I miss living overseas. The interior, like I've mentioned, very native decors. Capiz (shell) dividers, wooden chairs and tables, tiled flooring, abit of the Spanish influenced materials. The restrooms clean and nicely decorated as well. Food - For starters we had the fried OKOY. Very different from what I'm used to, however, their take on this is excellent. As my friend puts is, a high-end shrimp like thinly fried cake. I. believe this is a specialty, so, don't miss out on it. We ordered kare-kare as well and did not disappoint. Real oxtail and tripe. the 'bagoong' or shrimp anchovy sauce with it was not overwhelming. Spot-on flavor. We also ordered beef salpicao (beef chunks marinated and fried on an abundance of garlic) - a favorite as well. Fresh lumpia is a must. It came with a generous amount of garlic sauce. Staff - friendly, accommodating, however, some were rushing to finish service as the place started to get busy. Water replenished quite often which is a plus for me. I would certainly be back here. Have to try the rest of their menu.

Yelp
The food at provenciano is delicious. We had the sisig, which was fantastic. The pork humba was also delicious. We also tried the native chicken binakol, which also had malunggay, that too was delicious. The adobong pusit with olive oil and roasted garlic was very tender and delicious. The dinakdakan was also super delicious. To finish it off we had the puto bumbong for dessert which was also delicious. The ambiance was outstanding reminiscent of colonial Manila.

Yelp
Offering a veritable pantheon of Filipino favorites Provenciano is the perfect spot to check out for your first meal back in Manila! (Kinda my situation haha) The Kare-Kare was next level amazing and even had banana heart and some of the softest oxtail meat I've ever had! Interior was very nicely decorated and the staff were gracious. They close at around 3pm for their lunch service so you can totally do late lunch here or merienda!

Yelp
The beef in the Bulalo Tagaytay was so tender and the heaping portions. My husband and I would always frequent this place to have the puto bumbong while vacationing from the US. I also love the rustic ambience.

Yelp
Great food and great service. They have a sawsawan bar also which is nice. Recommend the aligue fried rice with your favorite pinoy dish!

Yelp
I wanted to like this place so much because of all the wonderful reviews but I honestly can't see myself going back. The place is beautiful & impeccably decorated but that's pretty much it. Everything else unfortunately fell short. We ordered all their "bestsellers" but nothing stood out. Every single meal is bland, basic & nothing your mom/tita/lola who loves to cook can't whip up. Acoustics was bad & customer service was HORRENDOUS. It took 15 mins for a can of coke & half an hour for our additional orders. The staff seemed flustered & oblivious 90% of the time, and this guy who looked like their manager wasn't helping at all. You can't see a smile from any of the servers & they're all obviously untrained in proper food service. If you're in Quezon City, go somewhere else for Filipino food. Ambience certainly isn't everything. This place is sub par in every aspect.
