The 33 Best Restaurants in Bogotá, Colombia | Eater

"When visiting the historic central neighborhood of La Candelaria, don’t leave without having lunch at Prudencia. The colonial, French-style home was renovated by star architect Simón Vélez, known for his flair with bamboo. Chef Mario Rosero — who was raised in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America — utilizes grills and ovens he designed himself to deliver dishes with powerful doses of umami. The seven-course tasting menu changes regularly, but it always features a vegetarian option, and everything from the bread to the butter is made from scratch with local ingredients. Expect dishes like turkey breast smothered with chocolate and roasted in the wood-fired oven or watermelon tarama garnished with house-made bacon (or dehydrated eggplant)." - Liliana López Sorzano

Absolutely mind blown by this gem of a restaurant! Everything was perfect. The place is so beautifully set and the atmosphere is great. The chef is a true genius. Each dish is so balanced and full of flavours and emotions. Its on the top of my experiences in latin America!

Prudencia was a really good experience for some fine dining with local flavours. They serve a fixed daily menu ensuring the most fresh dishes. The staff was really kind and knowledgeable. We got 7 dishes which were all very delicious. Some were inside and some outside with the cooks preparing it on the open fire in your sight. If you’re looking for a food experience in Bogota, this is a must visit.

Thank you for such a joyful and deeply satisfying meal. The intentionality behind the menu, the quiet care of the servers, and the way your vision translated so beautifully into each dish did not go unnoticed. The atmosphere you’ve created is more than just welcoming—it’s alive with warmth and meaning. What stood out most was the bond among your team. It’s rare to witness a group that works with such ease, respect, and connection. It was clear to me that you’re more than colleagues—you’re like family. It was an honour to celebrate my 50th and my final weekend in Bogotá with you. Thank you for making it memorable in all the right ways.

We had the 7 course tasting menu at Prudencia to celebrate my husband’s master’s degree, and it was absolutely worth it. Every dish felt thoughtful, beautifully presented, and full of flavour. The chef is incredibly talented, you can tell there’s real creativity and technique behind each plate. The whole experience felt special from start to finish. A place to remember for important moments, and one I’d return to without hesitation.

Food was uneven but mostly good. But the prices are really excessive for the number of courses and portion sizes. This would be pushing it in New York, let alone here. Early courses were stronger than mains, which were tasty but tiny. Also, the pours of wine and cocktails were also far too stingy. I’ve been fortunate to eat at restaurants with set tasting menus all over the world, and these were the least generous pours I’ve seen. Service was amazing. Ambience is nice and very laid back, but for the price would have imagined something a little different. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 5/5 Vibe: 4/5 Value: 1/5

Exceptional dining experience!! Course selections were amazing and unique, while presentation was perfect. The staff couldn't have been better: friendly with just the right amount of attention paid to their guests. We felt appreciated and truly enjoyed the entire experience!! Bravo!!

The most pretentious dining on mediocre food I’ve ever had. Saw this in the NYT 36 hours and decided to go. Walked past amazing colorful restaurants walking there with glorious savory smells. For $100 we were buying an “experience.” 7 small plates of which we could choose one. There was the eggplant mush without flavor that you could use as baby food. Every dish was tortured by wrong attention. My overcooked salmon was seasoned only with turmeric and the wood smoke. The artichoke hearts were Sun-dried to crisps on top and tasted of nothing. The “Walnut Cake” desert was a pile of walnuts soaked in water and lightly seasoned with nothing sweet. Guys, that’s not a cake. I could go on, but just don’t go.
