The 33 Best Restaurants in Bogotá, Colombia | Eater

"When visiting the historic central neighborhood of La Candelaria, don’t leave without having lunch at Prudencia. The colonial, French-style home was renovated by star architect Simón Vélez, known for his flair with bamboo. Chef Mario Rosero — who was raised in Los Angeles and is a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America — utilizes grills and ovens he designed himself to deliver dishes with powerful doses of umami. The seven-course tasting menu changes regularly, but it always features a vegetarian option, and everything from the bread to the butter is made from scratch with local ingredients. Expect dishes like turkey breast smothered with chocolate and roasted in the wood-fired oven or watermelon tarama garnished with house-made bacon (or dehydrated eggplant)." - Liliana López Sorzano

Prudencia is SPECIAL ! An unexpected dining experience that will impact even the most discriminating diner. The exterior is a very non descript, graffiti painted wall with no sign giving the impression of a derelict and abandoned building only to surprise that the door in the wall is the actual entrance to an unbelievable restaurant on the inside. There is a fixed menu that changes weekly that consisted of a 7 course meal paired with both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks that was most unique. The concept is that one stays in the restaurant for the experience as certain courses are served at the table and other courses are served on the open air terrace where the patented grill is preparing certain plates. The food can only be described as UNBELIEVABLY creative. A pure paste includes mixing beet root, tangerine, 24 hour baked tofu crust, and 3 or 4 more ingredients only to completely expose the palette to smells and tastes that transport one to another planet. And that was just one part of the 3 or 4 items on the plate ! The uniqueness and extremely detailed presentation surprised us all. Even little concepts such as no music played in the restaurant nor WiFi reception is to ensure patrons converse and share a lively time. I rarely highly recommend a restaurant but instead normally just try to provide an objective review. This is a MUST GO TO restaurant for both the food, service and dining experience that will challenge even the most renowned Michelin restaurants around the world. I was even fortunate enough to take a picture with Mario Rosero who is the owner, chef and designer of the restaurant concept. It is pricey …. BUT …. We stayed nearly 3.5 hours and they time flew by as this was a culturally rich experience making it more than worthwhile.

A wonderful experience. Had the alcohol pairing and it was great. Every dish was amazing. When you walk in the smell of bread overwhelms you right away. The stuff is super friendly and reasonable. You eat your first course and some of the bread at your table and then you walk up to the grill area. There you served a couple more courses and get to see some of the chefs at work. That said, the kitchen in the main space is also an open concept and you can constantly see workers smiling and enjoying what they do. Every dish was incredible. Definitely recommend when you want an experience where you can arrive anytime between noon and 4:00 p.m. and you're never rushed out.what a great experience in Bogotà.

If you’re looking for an elevated dining experience, this is your place! It’s a coursed meal with wine or NA drink pairings in a beautiful dining room with one course up in their “garden area” by the smoker. The food and wine was spectacular and the service was exceptional. It felt like a Michelin star experience. I highly recommend!

Not a lot of completely new concepts for the dining experience out here, but this is one of them. In one of the old neighborhoods of Bogota, you enter an unmarked door and I’m doing so you’re entering someone’s house effectively . The email was super fun and explained to us that this is meant to feel like eating at someone’s house. That means not just eating in the living room but moving out to the back patio for delicious freshly grilled meat and vegetables. we were a little worried about seven courses for lunch, but the portions are perfect to be able to enjoy each other plate highlights were an incredible grilled vegetable starter featuring tiny heritage carrot, as well as court, and in a barbecue sauce made from local fruit.

The highest quality food and service of any restaurant I ate in Bogota, and I ate at a few good ones thanks to a friend who knows Bogota. The owner welcomed me. The staff was happy and joking around. The setting is top notch. I had halibut and a squash puree with cauliflower. Excellent. I was in a rush so I wish I would’ve had more time. I had a Tourguide show up late and so I was late getting here and I had to rush to get to my plane. This is a place where you want to spend a few hours going through their tasting menu. Delightful staff.

OMG this is our favourite meal in Bogotá so far! What makes them stand out is how deeply it’s anchored in wood fire and fermentation. Every dish carries a subtle smokiness or brightness that feels both primal and refined. The owners have built their menu around showcasing unique ingredients from small farmers and producers, and that sense of care really comes through on the plate 🫶 Meals are served in both the indoor dining room and the outdoor space. Our favourite being the tree hut-like terrace, which feels almost magical. The environment is casual and welcoming, more like dining at a friend’s house. They’re only open for lunch, and it’s worth planning your day around it. Prudencia is thoughtful, generous, and god damn delicious. They go by a set menu which changes frequently.

Such an interesting experience. The exterior is clean and super discreet, hiding a very well decorated space where food is the main star. We really enjoyed our experience, the food was great and the staff was professional but not uptight. It's a fixed-menu restaurant, so have that in mind.

Absolutely mind blown by this gem of a restaurant! Everything was perfect. The place is so beautifully set and the atmosphere is great. The chef is a true genius. Each dish is so balanced and full of flavours and emotions. Its on the top of my experiences in latin America!
