This is a great little eatery. Outstanding sandwich selection, big portions. Tasty pizza. Lot's of outdoor seating. Good music & pool. Perfect local hangout.

I've been looking for excellent pizza and I found it here. I ordered the small pizza with pepperoni and sausage, shown. It did not disappoint. Very nice crust, ample sauce and cheese, with a hearty amount of toppings. Most importantly it tasted great. This is a quaint little neighborhood pub and they offer a robust menu of sandwiches as well. I'll definitely be back to see if their sandwiches are as good as their excellent pizza.

One of the best places to get pizza, wings and beer. The pizza is delicious! We go there every time we visit my son at UNR. The service is great and so is the backyard patio. Definitely recommend it if you like pizza. Unfortunately, we won’t be eating there for a while since my son just graduated.

I can’t believe that in all the years I’ve lived in Reno I had never been here until today! I absolutely love finding great, local, family owned businesses and this one checks all the boxes for me! I suppose the only possible downside for me is that I’m a whiskey drinker and they don’t have a full bar, but there were plenty of other options! My mastermind group went here today. I got a salad, one got a sandwich, one a pizza, and we all share a basket of onion rings…and everything was delicious! Will definitely be back!

Google
Is the sub part for suburban maybe? The pizza is good 🍕 🍕 🍕 😋. The service is always friendly and efficient. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great meal. 👍"

Google
Just had lunch here because we were craving some subs! Came here a few times in college but only ever ate the pizza. Was really impressed with the quality of ingredients. Subs were delicious, filling, and fairly priced. We’ll for sure be coming here more often.

The atmosphere was nice, very clean. With plenty of seating indoors, quiet garden area in the back and a patio out front where you can bring your dog.

Update: Went back in April 2024, just as many places in the Reno area, everything was more expensive, the ingredients changed, and the portions shrank. The burger was red and not good meat, My stomach was upset almost instantly after eating. My husband's Philly was the size of a child's sandwich, even after paying for double meat. When he asked if the meat was added, the cook was super rude to him. Sad to say that after 10 years of going here, we will not be returning. Was awesome until they conformed to the changes that most of Reno is making to stay afloat in this change of economy. ________ I have claimed this as my favorite burger spot in the Reno/Sparks area for 10+ years. We went in again today and it still gets the #1 spot in my book. The burgers taste real, homemade, and just down right delicious! They do not skimp on ingredients either. Their French fries are great as well! We doubled it up and had a pound burger this time and we were 100% satisfied. I mean, just look at it! 🤤

Yelp
Review is based SOLELY on the Tree Hugger pizza My coworker ordered this pie with the very outre combination of sun dried-tomatoes, feta, walnuts and red onion, all on a garlic and olive oil base. I eyed it with nearly scandalized suspicion--too weird even for an ultra-adventurous foodie that I am (I'm Chinese, and few things are off limits in our culinary repertoire). I , sniffed, took one delicate, tentative taste...then ended up eating most of it (I'm so sorry, Dawn). The garlic/olive oil base ties all the ingredients together. The tangy, salty feta dances with the concentrated sweetness of the tomatoes, while the spinach brings just the right amount of earthiness. The walnuts add unexpected crunch and a toasty, nutty depth--a rich and grounding presence. The slight sharpness of the onions keeps it lively. The oddball combination come together in a way that is brilliantly balanced and nothing short of phenomenal.

Yelp
Pub N' Sub for the win again! My favorite local bar/restaurant! in Reno, I've been coming here since I was 18 attending UNR. I came here on a Monday night for dinner with my wife and son. It wasn't very busy and they were quick to take our order. We enjoyed the backyard and had a great time enjoying the outdoors. We ordered a Extra large pepperoni (always) and some fries and drinks. Everything was great, I don't think I've ever been disappointed by their food. Enjoyable experience all around, look forward to my next visit!

Yelp
What's not to dig about a neighborhood bar with pizza and other delectables like finger foods and sandwiches. Had the cheese pizza asked for it extra thin and was obliged. Asked for bbq sauce and was given cocktail sauce--How does a place that doesn't serve cocktails even have a need for cocktail sauce? This is super confusing to the patron(s). Got this rec from brewmaster RussT who was in the house with us after he closed the beer factory. This dude is spot on when it comes to spots.

Yelp
Waited 30 minutes for cold fries and over salted subs. Only decent thing was a slice of pizza but not worth the 80$ spent. Would recommend a different place for sandwiches.

Yelp
I really enjoyed getting to experience this place on an "off" day where is was comfortably populated and perfect to be on the back porch The burger was tasty and and fresh on an amazing bun. Everyone was welcoming and very happy. It seems like it's an all walks of life place, which I loved! I really enjoyed coming here and will be back again and again!

Yelp
I grew up on Pub N' Sub. I enjoyed the happy hour through my college days. I still enjoy a sleepy Sunday afternoon at a picnic table on the patio. Pub N' Sub is just a college bar with straightforward, great food. For anyone with roots in Reno, and especially the University, the nostalgia of this place is hard to ignore. The Pub always has a solid selection of drinks ranging from the national brand lagers to more sophisticated local IPA's. The pizzas remind me of summer dinners with my family as a kid. They are cheesy, greasy and simple, but hit the spot every time. As for the subs, well, it's a simple sandwich in big portions! The half is more than enough for me. My favorite is the 14A with honey ham and honey turkey! It's a hometown neighborhood bar for anyone that has a connection to the University, or even Reno! The college students who staff the Pub will make you feel welcome and cozy no matter if you're in the mood for a sub, fried food, or just a beer while you shoot some pool. It is one of my favorite places in town for a sandwich with no frills.

Yelp
Great place; great food!! It's our 'go to' place definitely! We tried the back patio for the first time the other day (without our dog) and love it. We usually eat while on the front patio since it is pets allowed. Love it!

Yelp
Stopped in while out in Reno working, they have Great food, nice chill atmosphere highly Recommend

Yelp
College wine and beer bar with decent food. Stopped here after a softball game in N. Reno to try the wings. They did not disappoint. Bar is beer and wine only in case that's an issue for you - it is not for us. Wings with traditional sauce. Very nice spice with a flavorful sauce and plenty of it. Wife had a sandwich that was tasty as well. Really nice Italian cold cuts with good dressing and bread. Definitely a college bar though not a factor for us as it was the end of summer. Would expect crowds on the weekends.

Yelp
Ive been coming here off and on for over a decade, usually with a group of friends. Its great for day gatherings when the weather is nice out on the back patio. This time I was craving a sub at about 9pm at night on a Friday night (yeah I know) and I was around the corner. Called and ordered for pickup. took about 10 min. walked over and it was busy with the college crowd, no surprise. Ive had subs from here before that were ok. but this time was extra meh. Ordered a #4: salami, turkey, and cheese. The ingredient to bread ratio was ridiculous. The turkey was SO thin you could literally see through it, one layer of that, one layer of salami, and one cheese. all too thin. It was basically a bread/salad sandwich. (most of the lettuce fell out of course) so I just took off the bread top and ate it that way. For an almost $13 sub that was not worth it. So I guess make sure you get "extra meat" (+ $2.75) if you order when its late & busy? All in all my total was almost $22 w/ tip for a bread sandwich, a small dinner salad and a half filled small container of ranch dressing for it. Not really the vibe this time 'round :( I will be back I'm sure, but not on a Friday night

Yelp
We went right before the lunch rush and got our food quickly. The seasoned fries were legitimately the best fries I've ever had. I loved the veggie sub, which came with amazingly fresh produce-- including thinly sliced zucchini and carrots. I'd love to see them add vegan cheese or vegan mayo here! The bread got soggy a little quickly, which made me wish I had asked for it to be toasted or something. My fault! The restaurant isn't the fanciest, but it's laid back and comfy. Perfect for lunch!

Yelp
I usually go to Pub N' Sub for the pizza, which is super good! This time I had the Prosciutto, ham, capacollo, and cheese sub and it was great. The whole cold sandwiches are 8 inches and I would say you could share it with another person if you wanted to. My friend ordered the Smokey Melt hot sandwich and he said it was really good. One thing to note is the hot sandwiches are all 6 inches, so I wouldn't say it is a shareable size like a cold sub could be, but it does come with fries. I ordered a side of fries with my cold sub, and they were very good! When the food is ready, they call out your name and you pick it up at a window inside. Pub N' Sub is at an awesome location, it has plenty of seating inside and outside, and there is a bar. Dogs are allowed outside. There is a pool table too! The lady working was super helpful when we had questions about the menu while ordering. She also helped us when the pool table stole our quarters. She was great and very friendly!

Yelp
Super fun neighborhood spot. Gets pretty crowded at high times with older folks and university kids. May be a longer wait for food. Steve is a super great guy!

Yelp
IMO: some of the best 'Za in town. Also, unlike other pizza places they aren't trying to totally rip you off. Great vibes inside or outside, and if you never knew about the back area you should check it out. Overall 5 stars, I go back way to often.
google avatar

Yelp
First of all the place is great, it's been there for 40 years, it's a staple for the college kids! I love the pizza and the Italian large sub! Great place to go on game day! Support the Pack!

Yelp
Ordered takeout over the phone this time and had the pleasure of speaking with Robbie; he made my whole day with his winning personality and was the icing on the cake for today's experience. Food is always great, tried the cheese fries and mushrooms for a change and they knocked my socks off. Not your ordinary cheese fries and not your ordinary Robbie!

Yelp
Pub and Sub is a classic spot for bar food and college grub. They have a great outdoor area in front and in back as well as indoor seating and a pool table. Today, our group had the cheesesteak, blue cheese burger, and French dip. The cheesesteak here is next to none. Such an awesome sandwich. Cheese, onions, mushrooms and piping hot. Get it with the onion rings and house made ranch. The pizza here is also great and you can get sourdough crust on request. Some people here also just come for the classic sub sandwiches but their menu has something for everyone. Food comes out fast and hot. Prices are good, staff is friendly. Great beer choices too. Only downside is that this place is a bit dark and dingy. Has that classic college hole in the wall vibe which can be cool if that's your thing.

Yelp
Classic old school place!! Great service and great sandwiches... and the half sandwich is a whole sandwich!! One ordered combo cheese sub with veggies. She loved it.... Fresh veggies and all the cheeses!! One ordered Grilled Cheese... didn't realize they put seasoning on the bread but it was still good... and the fries were perfect! I ordered the #3.. bread was fresh and all tasted so good. Glad I thought to revisit this place!

Yelp
Everything went great! We called 2 hours before to ask if they can accommodate about 40 to 50 people and they sure did! We took up 3 to 4 very large tables with our baseball team and parents. Great pizza, fries, wings, and onion rings...everything was delicious. All of our parents that drink beer were raving about the selection. It was nice to see our boys all eat and play the few bar games they had inside. The back yard area is so beautiful and perfect. Thank you to the staff for being so awesome, we really appreciated the hospitality and will be back.

Yelp
Did takeout and the got the garlic pizza and buffalo wings. It was great most specially the wings

Yelp
I'm super unhappy they took out the old quarter machines totally ruins the whole vibe of the place and took away everything that made it original and different from everywhere else now it looks tacky what a dump!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I just called and was told that they have policy stating that it is a $100.00 dollar minimum charge for delivery. Super cool guys!!!

Yelp
Sometimes you just want to step back in time and when I do that and want a sandwich and beer to go with it, Pub n Sub is the place I like to go. Gets a little busy on game days, but either way, I always get great service. The decor and vibe really hasn't changed much since my college days and that's just how I like it!
google avatar

Shelly K.

Yelp
Big shout out to Steve and the crew at Pub n Sub for helping to celebrate my son's graduation party! Great food, wonderful ambiance and service. Couldn't have asked for a better venue for this special day!

Yelp
Came with friends for lunch. You order at the counter and pick up yourself when it's ready. Everyone loves their food. I had a French dip. My friends had a cheeseburger, a French dip and a sun sandwich. The hot food comes with seasoned fries. There is inside and outside seating
google avatar

Yelp
Came in here for a late lunch during the work week. Was able to walk right up to the window and my coworker was excited that they offered apple pay. I ordered my go-to from previous times the chicken tender sandwich with seasoned fries. I love that their menu is endless, and all of the sides galore. I enjoy the patio area especially being in a neighborhood. I think the service is friendly and efficient, and that I do not come here as much as I should. But I will definitely keep in mind when in the area or just wanting to soak up some sun with some delicious food.

Yelp
One of the things people say about Pub n Sub is that it hasn't changed in ages. But I think that's not true. In fact, I think it has changed with the times remarkably well. But what is it that's changed? Is it the menu? Not really. Since a cursory glance shows it to be practically the same as it's ever been. The pizza here is some of the best pub pies you'll find in Reno. Coming out of the ovens piping hot, and loaded with cheese and toppings. One choice which I was recently turned onto is the seemingly incongruous idea of the Vegetarian Pizza and adding their house-made Meatballs on top. Mmmmmm! Superbly Delicious! You've also got to try their legendary garlic chips, which I could eat a mountain of. Then the menu is rounded out with assorted other choices like wings, burgers, salads, and sandwiches. And of course, beer that flows by the pint or by the pitcher, with big names and a few craft handles to choose from. And all for prices that are still really decent for the quality you get. Could it be the atmosphere that's changed? I think that is certainly not the case. The inside layout and décor just radiate the vibes of a vintage neighborhood establishment. Sports and beer merch on the walls. Whatever game being broadcast up on the screens. Pool table and fireplace adorning opposite corners. An aesthetic that hasn't been updated in decades, and gives you that twinge of nostalgia, even if this is your first time here. Maybe it's the customers who've changed? Well, that may be nearer the mark. Every time I swing by the joint is hopping. Come by on a weekday and you can find it lively. On the weekends, typically full. When classes are in session, persistently packed to the gills, trusting to your good luck to find parking on the same block. Been a place a lot of us UNR alums and longtime Renoites alike and have been loving for years. And I think that segues into what's changed. It's us. Pub n Sub used to seem to have a reputation as just a college dive. But walk in there now, and there are folks of all ages, groups of all sizes. Heck, the backyard area was packed with TWO concurrent kids' birthday parties when I was recently here last. This is just a place you want to come back to again and again. Loving it as a hangout in younger days, and remembering the good food and good times, and knowing it is a solid bet when you just gotta have a pint and a pie. A place that just got better with age, and where I'll certainly be stopping by again. Cheers!

Abigail P.

Yelp
The garlic chips were super yummy! Local joint been coming for years with the family :) always greeted with a smile. The outdoor seating is adorable and the game is always on at Pub n sub!

Yelp
Love this funky spot in the middle of a neighborhood near UNR. We all loved sitting out back in the yard and our fries and sandwiches were amazing. Wish they did not use plastics for ketchup and ranch.

Yelp
Lots of great memories with this place. Love going there and sitting in the backyard and enjoying the wonderful pizza and wings. The ambience is great. The staff is always friendly and the service is always on spot.

Yelp
Great pizza and subs great owner. Not just for college students. Lots of older folks go here like me!

Yelp
3.5 stars overall for being a solid, reliable, and convenient neighborhood pizzeria option. Even though they don't put "Pizza" in the name, the establishment calls back to those old school neighborhood pizza haunts of yesteryear. The pizza was hot and freshly prepared within about 10 mins of ordering it on a busy weekday evening. The pizza itself is good-not-great, primarily because of the meh crust. It's neither thin, nor, thick, nor airy, nor notable in the way you'd want a crust to set the pizza apart from other store bought options. The sauce however, is tangy, sweet, and goes quite well with their mix of cheeses and other toppings. A fluffy, yeasty, charred crust would make their pizzas among the best in Reno with just a little more effort. Overall, we very much enjoyed our visit and would go again if in the area. Next time we'll try the namesake subs and see if they are the real star of the show.

Yelp
Good ol days, I have so many memories here! Dined here today 7/15/23 with friends for beer and for appetizers. Summer nights are my all time favorite and even better spending it with friends. Their menu has a variety of options from Pizza to sandwiches to burgers and wings. We opted in for a sandwich and wings. Variety of drinks on tap as well. This is an older pub but a gem, indoor and outdoor seating with my favorite backyard seating. I've been here for team building, football games, hang out spot. Everyone was friendly and prompt. Food is fast, fresh and delicious! We will be back soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Not a great place for pizza or wings, service was great but not redeeming enough for the pizza. Must be why sub is in the name
google avatar

Mike W.

Yelp
We now interrupt this program to hear from our food analyst who is standing LIVE outside one of UNR's favorite eating spots - Pub n Sub. Take it away Samantha. Pub n Sub has good eats! Myself and my food analyst liked both sandwiches. The meatball was hot and tasty she said. We both liked the Italian cold sub sandwich as well. The place has good vibes. There is beer on tap, chicken wings and pizza as well. Both times here the staff is friendly. We will be back to try the wings and pizza next time.
google avatar

Yelp
Pizza Good!!! Minus one star for the loud, lousy music. It really detracted from our dinner. They turned it down for a little while after we asked them to do so, but soon, another employee turned it back up.

Yelp
Gotta love this Reno classic. I went with a #1 with spinach ..... soooo good. It hit the spot.

Scott R.

Yelp
Was here in November , and was recommended by a local, fried pickles are fire and delicious a must have , the onion rings were battered good and real tasty. And the pizzia was above average and ample toppings which I love , it has a college hangout type of vibe!!!many beers on tap and staff was superfriendly over all I would come here again great hidden gem in Reno , my only drawback would be I wouldn't bring my small child here , like I said more college kids come here which is perfectly fine!!!!

Yelp
I've Been coming to The Pub N Sub since I was 8 years old. I have a lot of great memories here especially in the Beer Garden out back! I've come here for birthdays both my high school and college graduation parties. This was the first place I came to when I turned 21, and this is the go to spot to throw horse shoes and pre game before walking to games at mackay. From half price pizza to ¢.50 wing Wednesday and the freshest Sandwiches this place is the best and hands down my favorite spot in all of Reno! I appreciate being able to leave a review and thank you for always staying consistent!

Yelp
Too often we forget that Pub N' Sub is just down the road from us. I called ahead and ordered the Tree Hugger - Garlic & olive oil base, sundried tomatoes, spinach, feta cheese, walnuts, red onion. I thought the walnuts were interesting, and was not disappointed when we got into our first slice. The dough had a good crispiness too it, if not the biggest rise. I was pretty surprised at the price, though. After tip that single pizza brought us nearly to $30. At nearly $5-6 more than others, you gotta ask if it's really worth the extra cost. I'm not totally sure if the quality warrants the extra price, but I think that's for each person to determine for themselves. We certainly can't get a pizza like the Tree Hugger anywhere else, so if we're craving that exact pizza, we know where to go!
google avatar

Yelp
Took a friend here to shoot some pool and my first thought walking in the door was "I wish I could bottle up this smell and sell it". I don't know what it is about the savory, spicy and smokey smell that arises from a well seasoned kitchen but it always get my stomach juices bubbling, even when I wasn't previously hungry. The place was pretty empty during midday so we had the pool table to ourselves. It's a nicely maintained table that I imagine gets a lot of use on weekends. My choice of sandwich today was the Italian because I know most of those smells I was smelling had to do with the ingredients on this thing. It was very tasty and since they were out of fries, I got some onion rings instead, which were cooked perfectly. I wish onion rings were the standard side dish instead of fries but I digress. This shop, which can be positively hopping on weekends, was a nice laid back hang during the weekday.

Cassius V.

Yelp
The food is good but the price I was charged is almost ten dollars more than they advertise online. Was not happy when I had to pay $30 for a single pizza with half a topping. The food is good but not $30 good. And it's supposed to be a college bar ain't no way college kids can afford that. Most likely not going back

Yelp
I'm giving an updated review. For over 25 years you guys made the best sandwiches ever! As a mom of a UNR grad student. This evening after work I treated myself to a day before Mother's Day dinner. I went to order my usual 14A Sub whole on wheat bread. When I asked for wheat bread I was told that you don't sell wheat bread anymore. When I got home with my sub sandwich. There was only one slice of the meat, hardly any cheese, veggies & your signature mayo. For 20 years you guys would pile on everything thick that went on a 14A. When you pile it on thick, you have a signature sub full of flavor that makes people wanting to come back for more. Tonight was the saddest looking sub sandwich I had ever seen from Pub n Sub. I still love your business in my heart as it always reminds me of the pub Cheers. I love that your nestled in a college neighborhood with warm vibes to back the pack, The Wolf Pack! Plus I remember the owners back in the day always there to greet you with a smile and say Hi!

Yelp
This spot is a must visit in Reno! Been around forever, flavor of pizza is always on point! They have the best ranch, salads are nothing special but the pizza is perfect! We ordered the tree hugger!

Rebecca Sue B.

Yelp
Great food. Nice service. Cozy atmosphere. Reasonable price. It's one of my favorites. It's been good consistently for years.

Yelp
Racist Environment!!! I hate to say it but to be a Minority ..but when I came there even the customers outside stopped and stared at us while we waited for our food in the car. The guy went so far as taking his sunglasses off as they stared me and my Daughter down she felt very uncomfortable......I wanted to leave but we decided to stay to get our food After spending $50 I really pray they didn't spit in it.

Jim L.

Yelp
Was not thrilled had the sausage sandwich its diced sausage that is put on pizza bland in taste,

Yelp
Came here with the boys for some lunch, the atmosphere was incredible, the wait for food was rather short. I got a Cheesesteak and lemme tell you, coming from Philly, I got some high expectations, this met most if not all of them, THEY EVEN USED CHEESE WIZ!!! And properly too! The Onions rings are seasoned, crunchy, and decently sized. The proportions are great for the price! Great food!

Yelp
Just once I wish they'd get my order right. College joint with a decent pool table and lackluster beer selection. $20 for a meatball sub and a draft beer is no bargain. Pizzas could use a sauce and cheese quality upgrade. Pluses: they're open late for Reno. Outside seating in good weather. Standard meat subs are good...but they'll never get your order right:-)
