A lively multilevel lounge and club, complete with dancing, sports on TV, American bites, and an inviting rooftop, ideal for unforgettable nights out.
"A shift and rebrand toward a live music venue in 2019 doesn’t stop Public Bar from showing sports games. The three-story space keeps its downstairs bar outfitted with TVs and seating for when live concerts aren’t rocking the stage. A 14-foot HD projector screen joins 40 other screens and five bars. Next-door sibling bar Sauf Haus is also big on soccer and brats." - Tierney Plumb
"The official home of the Colombian national team, Public Bar Live is throwing a kickoff party ahead of the tournament’s opening match, which will see defending champions Argentina take on Canada at 8 p.m. from Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium. The fun begins at 5 p.m. and features a live performance from local rock band Los Novios de Martita." - Vinciane Ngomsi, Tierney Plumb
"Public Bar Live pairs our love of watching giant versions of CJ Abrams and Alexander Ovechkin with hits like “I Want It That Way.” It's a great place to start a Friday with a game and end with dancing. The Dupont Circle spot has three floors and a rooftop, each with its own bar and a slightly different set up. Sit on the third floor to watch the game—there’s a slightly clubby feel, NBA on TNT above every table, and big leather booths. It also has the best angle for checking out the projector, which plays the biggest game of the hour." - tristiana hinton
"Public Bar Live is fun whether there are five people on a Monday night belting I Want It That Way at the top of their lungs or it's a shoulder-to-shoulder Saturday. It's also one of the few places open until 2am during the week in Dupont Circle these days, so head there if you’re looking for American bar food and booze. There are three floors and a rooftop, each with its own bar and a slightly different set up. The third floor, which is open most often, is full of the black leather booths that give it a club feel even though there’s a television showing sports (think NBA on TNT) above each table. Get the Captain Ovi Burger, which is juicy even when cooked well-done." - Tristiaña Hinton
"After nearly four months of being dark, Public Bar re-opens today with renovations that transform pieces of the Dupont Circle sports bar into a live music venue and a lounge for bottle service. Now christened Public Bar Live, the three-story venture is attempting to discard its identity as a dive-y spot in favor of something sleeker. The three-story venture is now owned by the team behind German beer garden Sauf Haus next door. Edwin Villegas, who was a majority partner at Public Bar, is also part of the Sauf Haus group. 'We wanted to keep the momentum going by keeping the name but we needed to rebrand,' director of operations John Issa says. 'Our concept is 25 percent live music, 75 percent sports bar.'" - Tierney Plumb
