The 15 Best New Restaurants in Paris | Eater

"After leaving London’s Holborn Dining Room in 2022, English chef Calum Franklin joined the Bertrand Group’s Public House, his first role in the French capital. Nicknamed the “pie king” after he set up Holborn’s pie room in London, Franklin brings a handful of his iconic latticed pies (like chicken and wild mushroom, Montgomery cheddar, dauphinoise potato and caramelized onion, or braised beef and marrow) to this colorful British brasserie a couple of blocks from the Opéra Garnier. You’ll also find a selection of pub staples like Scotch eggs (done here with boudin noir), fish and chips, sausage and mash, a very good sticky toffee pudding for dessert, and, of course, plenty of beer. Located in the 2nd arrondissement." - Lindsey Tramuta

As you have asked for my comments following a recent visit, I am happy to oblige. The building on the outside and inside is very well presented. Unfortunately, being presented with menus that were well used and torn lowered the image. We arrived early and ordered drinks but no 'nibbles' were provided. We were seated upstairs at a round table which was small for 4 people to use - we had to put our Bottle of wine and glasses on the floor at one point. We ordered several starters to share, which were nice, although the onion rings were mostly batter. I was disappointed that the Scotch Egg with black pudding was not on the menu but the classic Scotch Egg was very nice. As Callum Franklin is known for his pies, it was a shame that there were only 3 pie choices on the menu. The Beef Pie was excellent and the Cheddar potato pie was quite nice all served with a side salad, which seems an unusual choice. The Pulled Pork burger was also good but the chips were awful. The service was quick and our waitress was very pleasant. I had been looking forward to eating at this establishment since hearing about it's conception. All in all a nice place to have a pleasant meal.

As the name of the place implies it is a pub, but it is more than a pub! The restaurant on the top floor is beautifully decorated and is very charming. Fish and chips is as good as the best of the ones in the UK. The vegetables pie was delicious. The lady serving us was extremely attentive and friendly. It is a great place for a casual meal in a relaxed atmosphere.

I saw Calum Franklin and the Beef Wellington in German TV and reserved for our Paris stay. We have not been disappointed. We had a splendid evening at Public House. Loved the atmosphere, the style and the love for the details, like the arrangement of the Wodka-Soda drink. Food was splendid, especially the Pie. At some point I forgot we are in Paris, and could have sworn we are in London ;) We will definitely come back!

We had a great lunch here! The food was simply amazing, every dish was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. A big shoutout to our waitress, Merry, who recommended some of the best dishes on the menu and she was super friendly along with the way she passionately described each option, making our meal that much more enjoyable. We’ll definitely be back!

As someone who lived in the UK for a long time, I have to say that the fish and chips served in this pub is better than every fish and chips I ate in England. Unlike most pubs in England, there's more fish than batter. The place has recently been refurbished and they've done an amazing job. It's classy and has all the codes of proper English pub. Took me back to my days in England. Loved it.

We sat downstairs in a very casual and relaxed atmosphere. The food was amazing; I absolutely loved the mussels, and the portion was generous, which we greatly appreciated.

Food was spectacular. I think the Beef Pie was one of my favorite dishes here in Paris. All the dishes tasted very fresh and came out hot. Definitely recommend one of their detox drinks as it was delicious and helped my digestion. The restaurant’s vibes are also very lively and fun. Service was good but once it got busy, it was almost impossible to get our server’s attention. Luckily, they have the option to pay on your phone at your table through a QR code so that saved us a lot of time.
