The 17 Best New Orleans Dining Deals for Summer | Eater New Orleans

"Executive chef Neal Swidler is cooking up a storm at Public Service in the NOPSI hotel, bringing tasty bar bites to the new Henry’s Gin Bar in the lobby and serving a three-course summer menu of the daily gumbo or salad, an entree (including a half rotisserie chicken with smashed garlic potatoes or shrimp and grits) and dessert for $35 through Aug. 30. Order the wine of the day for $40 a bottle." - Beth D’Addono

We went here before attending a show at the Saenger theater because it was conveniently located for our walk and not crowded. The atmosphere is nice. We were comfortable and enjoyed great service. The food was disappointing and over priced for what we got. The corn and crab chowder was so salty we couldn’t even eat it. The crab-cakes are overpriced at $26 -only came with two and they were mushy. We did enjoy the crawfish bread and the Brussel sprouts. They were good. Overall, we would not return and wish we had chosen another option in the area. We spent over $100 and only got three appetizers, 2 cups of soup, and water.

This place is connected to the NOPSI Hotel. Met my parents here for brunch one day. They’d already befriended the Executive (Corporate) Chef by the time I arrived. After tasting the food, I don’t blame them for wanting to adopt him into the family. The food was AMAZING, Chef Adam was truly gracious and personable. You can tell he really loves what he does. The food was so good that we went back the following day. The service was so so, some were really good, some seemed confused about whether or not they should serve us as we sat in the restaurant. This place seems to be re-vamping/reopening and so I’d expect the confusion between the bar and the restaurant staff and service to smooth out as they get back up and running. I am already looking forward to stopping by this place for a great meal the next time I’m in New Orleans.

I can’t believe I’m writing this right now. My friends and my husband and I came this morning for Jazz Brunch and we ordered the pastry board for the table. Our waitress went to the kitchen to make sure they had it available and then came back to confirm. Shortly thereafter, a huge board of muffins, scones and pastries were delivered to our table. I had a blueberry muffin and then I cut off a piece of a chocolate pastry and bit into it. I immediately spit it out because I could taste the mold. I looked at the piece I had left on the board to see visible mold on the outside. We then checked the rest of the board and several items had mold on them. We had the manager come over and she didn’t really do anything, just said sorry and we left. The worst part about this is that I’m pregnant and am worried that this will make me or my baby sick. Please think twice before coming here to eat and if you do, inspect your food thoroughly before eating.

Stayed at NOPSI and had breakfast here our first morning of our honeymoon. I had the very delicious Eggs Sardou. The chef heard that myself and my husband were in NOLA for the first time for our honeymoon and made us free beignets! They were honestly the best beignets we had our entire trip. Thank you to chef Webb for your kindness and great food.

Ate here for breakfast and dinner. I had the dinner first and was disappointed in the gumbo. It came out WAY too quick and the rice was undercooked and crunchy. The rest of it was pretty good. The service wasn't bad but it was all exceptionally better for breakfast. I had the French toast and it was good. I more liked the bacon as it was cooked perfectly and crispy.

What a disaster. This restaurant looked like a great option for dinner during a recent trip to New Orleans. Looked pleasing with upscale interior and furnishings, variety of menu items, good cocktail selection, and within walking distance to our accommodations. Took awhile once seated for our waiter to come. Reviewed the cocktail menu and ordered drinks. I was told the feature cocktail I ordered couldn’t be made since they were missing ingredients. Disappointing. Only found this out after placing the order and the other person dining with me was brought their drink. As their drink became watered down waiting for me to reorder I didn’t find anything else that struck my fancy (a lot of gin based drinks and Im not a fan of gin) and asked if a the “Pink Drink” could be made but with vodka rather than gin and was told it could. Waited awhile for my new cocktail to arrive and when it did it was yellow (not pink as the name implies) and had gin not vodka. Had to wait again for the waiter to return and questioned what exactly I was drinking. He wasnt sure. Took that cocktail away. I ordered a glass of wine. (By this time I could have used the while bottle?). In to ordering…since it was later in the evening we both decided on the club croissant. Ordered those only to be told they are out of croissants! You’ve got to be kidding me. When asked what type of bread they did have we were told regular white or wheat. Pass. We looked at the menu again trying to find something else and debating if we should just finish our drinks and leave it and be done with it. Waiter came back and we asked if it would be possible to have the club on po boy bread abd was told yes. Finally! Ordered 2 more glasses of wine. Waiter brought me a wine and the other person a cocktail. I just dont get it. The sandwiches were very good on po boys but what an ordeal. Service was slow, items and ingredients weren’t available, and prices were high.

The wonderful atmosphere and the service are phenomenal! Each customer is received with a professional attitude and quickly attended to. Marsha, the manager, ensures everyone is treated with respect and kindness. Go get you some beignets!

Google
Walking distance from our hotel, so seemed like a good option for us. Food was tasty and reasonably priced, but the paper menu in the restaurant was 75% different from the one on their website. Some of the options on the paper menu were actually partially unavailable (i.e. no lump crab with the fish of the day) but this was not communicated to us before we ordered. The manager reduced the check price due to the mix up but only after we requested to speak to her. The server was friendly, but came to take our order and honestly only came back to deal with our checks. The gratuity was added into the check already (perhaps because we were a party of 7 but this was not listed very openly on the menu or made known to us ahead of time). The service took a long time to get us our check as well. No one came back to refill soft drinks. The water person was very on top of the waters but the waiter didn't attend to the non water drinks. He slay never asked how were doing our if we needed anything, or how the food was. Atmosphere was cool and comfortable.

Yelp
We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here. The ambience was 1920's. A beautifully restored building. The service and food were wonderful. We had their meatloaf Wellington. It's was really amazing. I'm trying to duplicate it at home. The rest of the food and wine were amazing. After dinner we took the wine and finished it on the patio. A great end to the day. Since this is in a hotel we plan to stay here, at Nola, the next time we visit.

Yelp
The bartender , Reggie was top tier ! The food was mediocre; needs more options and make them local cuisines ! I had fun here with the amazing mixologist . He was sooo sweet and catered to my requests even made me a special house juice

Yelp
This restaurant was in our hotel so an easy choice. There was lots of seating and a live band. We were able to get seated right away on a weekday evening. The food was good - we got the chicken and meatloaf Wellingtonand both were great. We didn't try the drinks but they looked good. They were accommodating for substitutions and allergies. Our server was very busy (I think she might have has the whole restaurant to serve) so there wasn't much interaction but I don't fault her for that as she was hustling!

Yelp
A very overpriced restaurant inside the NOPSI hotel. I suppose you could go for the convenience of it. The food was generally good but it appears I got overcharged $9 beverage fee for just water. I didn't find out til later. The service was just ok. If anything, just got there for the bread and jam. On the plus side, there's usually live music and the ambience is pretty peaceful and serene.

Yelp
Amazing whiskey selection here! HUGE SHOUTOUT to the lovely ERIN JUPITER for the wonderful customer service and hospitality at Public Service! She truly went above and beyond during service and I could not thank her enough for my experience at the bar. First impressions are important right? She excelled and delivered to a T and I will forever remain loyal to the NOPSI Hotel. Thank you again Erin! You are the best HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! UNTIL THEN!! ^-^

Yelp
We decided to eat at our hotel's restaurant because the wait for food anywhere in the city has been long due to Mardi Gras crowds. But I would have rather waited an hour in the heat and crowds than eat here again. The food was SO bland and it took being ignored twice by one waitress, asking another waitress who forgot to bring it, and my husband physically getting up to ask for help, to get a bottle of hot sauce. The servers are hustling, but apart from taking your order and bringing your food, there was no other service involved. I ordered the flatbread which was anything but flat. The description included farm fresh eggs. I imagined a few eggs cracked over the flatbread and cooked in the oven, but they heaped a mountain of scrambled eggs on top, sprinkled a little bit of diced peppers and chorizo, melted a small amount of cheese and called it good. The only flavor was the oil and rosemary on the flatbread itself, but it was SO soggy from all of the egg on top that it wasn't even worth eating the bread. I was throughly unimpressed. I've only been upset by food and service a couple of times and I was noticeably saddened by this food experience. My husband got a shrimp omelette and grits. He said everything was salted, but he also wanted in on the hot sauce to bring some flavor to this meal. The fruit cup was fresh and sweet. Don't waste your time or money here for breakfast. It may suck to wait in line, but start your day off with something better.

Yelp
Happy hour here is 4-6pm, and both the drinks and staff are amazing. I was well taken care of and had great conversation with the bartenders. The vibes here are classy, yet casual, and the music choices were great. I'm definitely adding them to my Happy Hour rotation.

Yelp
if you're hungry and can't go anywhere else, it's okay. We were early, starving and they had no wait. The wait staff is very relaxed and by that I mean we could have eaten and been out of there an hour before we left. Drinks are a no go, the bartender walked into the back as soon as our order was dropped with him and he didn't walk back for 30 minutes later. The waitress- was nice but I only saw her twice- when order was taken and once when the food was dropped. It's okay in a pinch.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at the NOPSI for a few days while visiting NOLA, this restaurant and bar is attached to the hotel. We got a few drinks from the bar during our stay and got some brunch before heading to the airport. The service was fantastic 10/10, Miss Ella was our waitress and she was very sweet. My bacon was super crispy and my husband loved his French toast. Also their prices are very reasonable.

Yelp
Made a last-minute reservation for a business meal during a very busy weekend and was very pleasantly surprised! There is a large sign for the restaurant that you can't miss, and it adjoins the NOPSI hotel. Decor of the restaurant is rustic/industrial, with beautiful black chandeliers decorating high ceilings. We were seated at a cushy booth and started off dinner with Brussels sprouts with bacon bits served in an adorable mini cast iron pan. I had a Paloma cocktail and a shrimp penne pasta which was rich and creamy and very tasty. We ended the night with the ooey gooey cake (which was warm and crumbly) and raspberry cheesecake (which was delicious). Overall it was a positive experience and a great way to end the night.

Yelp
This restaurant and bar is located at the Nopsi Hotel that we stayed at. We purchased a vacation package that included 5 All American breakfasts. It's a basic breakfast, but they give you options of meat, potatoes or grits, and your style of eggs. So it didn't seem repetitive. They get pretty busy, so service at times is slower. However, food and drinks, especially the grits and potatoes.

Bart B.

Yelp
Don't eat here. Grab drinks- and even that's a maybe. My old fashion had an actual orange slice in in it. One would think you can't find bad food in NOLA- One would be incorrect.

Muni M.

Yelp
We stayed at the NOPSI and had no intention of eating here based solely on reviews. Due to the flash flood warning we ate here on a Saturday evening. What a pleasant surprise!!!!! The restaurant is clean and the ambiance is very nice. Our waiter seemed new/nervous but was lovely and attentive despite how busy the restaurant became very quickly. The food and specialty drinks were excellent. Generous portions. We would go back if we had more time in the city!

Reece C.

Yelp
Honestly one of the worst experiences at a restaurant in New Orleans. We walked in and were not greeted, and when we got our server, Corey, he was extremely rude. He honestly seemed like he didn't care about us at all. We were the only table besides a group at the bar and after we got our waters, we never saw our server again. We ended up leaving at this point because we just felt unwelcomed. Definitely won't be coming back.

Yelp
Initially I though this was going to be another breakfast place in a hotel. I was absolutely wrong! The restaurant is located in the swanky Nopsi hotel (even stamped on their waffles!) the hotel is located in the business district of the city and is close to the French quarter. The high ceilings and light finishes give an ambiance full of daylighting. The warm tones of the brick contrast and gives a sense of warmth. The food is exquisite and the service was great! I had the pont chartraine Benedict and the seafood is so fresh and tasty topped with a shrimp creole sauce. The Nopsi branded waffle is perfect! I love the fact that they branded the name of the hotel and put the berries in the waffle pockets! It is crispy on the outside and perfectly cooked but the inside is so soft and fluffy. The reservation was so easy to make so definitely a great breakfast spot!

Yelp
Super disappointing. Was not greeted or attended to for like 15 minutes and they weren't busy. Brussels sprouts did not at all come out like any of the pictures posted or as expected. Practically raw. Pasta was just your basic you could get anywhere. Nothing special. Hardly any shrimp. No French bread to dip it in because they are trying to figure out what bread to go with. Drink list being updated so just have to go one by one on wines. So disappointing for Nola.

Yelp
This place served our best bites in New Orleans! We went during Mardi Gras, and service was still tip-top. As a former server, I was impressed with how much the staff helped one another, ensuring prompt, calm service. I had a well-balanced dirty martini first- definitely get a drink while you're here. The Caesar salad was the best I've ever had! Crisp, lemony, perfect. I also had shrimp and grits, which I don't even like normally, which were a hit as well.

Yelp
My husband and I had this grand idea to walk leisurely and catch a bite in the CBD a few days after Christmas but we totally failed to realize everything would be bustling due to the Saints vs Dolphins game on this particular day. Everything was insanely packed but we were absolutely delighted to walk into Public Service and see open/available bar tables at this hotel bar. The bar bites menu was small, as expected, but the ribs and rotisserie chicken quesadilla struck my fancy. The ribs were good but goodness, that rotisserie chicken quesadilla was dry as a bone!!!! Maybe I should've known that given that it is rotisserie chicken in the quesadilla (cooked again? reheated?) -- regardless, the gist of this review is to dissuade you from ordering that particular dish. For beverages, we enjoyed a glass of wine each. The bartenders were definitely hauling tail to serve everyone so kudos to them! Unfortunately, we felt that our bill was higher than the overall experience warranted.

Yelp
So my friends and I saw Public Service online and we thought it seemed like a great place to dine before going to the Smoothie King center for an event. We had never heard about it and the menu looked delicious so we headed there. Upon arrival no one greeted us and we had to ask if we could sit ourselves or if someone was going to bring us to a table. No big deal, I get it. We were the only other table in that place other than a large party of middle aged people drinking at the bar. The service was laughable for our table and the bartender, Corey, was sarcastic when asked for a drink recommendation so we ended up leaving and not spending our money there. I want to mention that the bartender was VERY attentive to the larger party at the bar but took longer than preferred to approach our table. When we asked him for a minute to look over the menu he again took his sweet time coming back. We left before he came back to the table. Being a group of three who are all in our twenties I guess Mr. Corey couldn't be bothered with us. All of us work in the service industry though and would've taken care of this man when it came to tipping but alas, he treated us like we were children. All around I would say, don't dine here unless you're above the age of 45 and look like you have money to spend, because Corey will treat you differently if not! We went five minutes down the street to Pizza Luna instead and had a great experience with someone who seemed pleased to have us in their restaurant. Way too many good restaurants with better food, drinks, and service in the city to put up with that. Do better!

Megan H.

Yelp
We made reservations on Open Table, showed up to a very rude hostess. We asked if a booth was available. She said no but as we we were seated we noticed the booth next to us leaving. We asked to wait and she rudely grabbed our menus, made some snide comment we couldn't quite hear & left us standing there. My partner then rushed us out to find someone to report this to, told the concierge and left. I have never made a negative review and I get that everyone has a bad day but this was beyond that. Too bad because I was really looking forward to trying this place.

Yelp
During our time in New Orleans, we stayed at the NOPSI Hotel and Public Service happens to be an extension of the hotel/building. This place only opens twice a week: Friday, Saturday, Sunday from 07:30 am to 9 pm. For breakfast we were able to walk in with out reservations for dine in. You can get free coffee in the morning as a courtesy from the NOPSI Hotel as their guest. For dinner, you must have a reservation or else most likely you won't be able to dine in. But you are able to place a take out order. What we had for breakfast: Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict - this was delicious. I would get it again! Waffle - delicious, the syrup was yum and different For dinner: Shrimp and Grits - this was ok. I would not get it again. Too much grits, flavor was not all there. The one at Acme was much better! Spinach Artichoke Dip - this was ok. I would not get it again. Chips were flimsy. Build your own pizza. -this was good, the tomato sauce and sausage was legit Caesar Salad - this was ok, basic. The service was okay. They work hard running back and forth and try to be accommodating so it's understandable that they don't have time to be friendly friendly.

Yelp
Stayed at Nopsi so decided to grab an early dinner before going down to Bourbon Street. Decor is okay. Food was pretty good. Issue there were only two employees! Wait was ridiculous! I felt terrible for the bartender trying to juggle all roles. We had the smothered chicken, gumbo, Cobb salad and the burger

Yelp
We love the NOPSI Hotel, where Public Service is located. It is such a cool spot. Can't really review the restaurant without mentioning the hotel. The lobby is so inviting with a great bar, many TVs, great outdoor seating as well. Now as to the restaurant we went for brunch, excellent menu and great staff and very helpful. We were there over two hours with friends and enjoyed everything about our experience. As you can see from the photos we ordered many things in addition to the coffee, mimosas and cocktails. I ordered the burger and my wife got the Po-Boy and both were delicious and makes you proud of the New Orleans culinary scene. Go for breakfast, brunch or lunch, or cocktails at the bar...all is beautiful at the NOPSI... Enjoy!

Yelp
Reggie was awesome & friendly, served me a nice bubbly Rosè. Two days ago, also had excellent service & food! Sometimes tho, I've noticed the bartender slow & gone for a long time w/ no one in the restaurant, won't name him. The hostess is a sweetheart also. The Rotisserie Chicken Salad Slider was delish!! Very nice roasted chunks of chicken, fresh lettuce, tomato & the perfect amount of Dijon Truffle Dressing on a soft Brioche roll. Nice olive, cocktail onion & cherry tomato garnish. Patatas Bravas w/ Pickled Jalapeño were absolutely beautiful. Firm colorful little tomatoes & jalapeños w/ a nice dressing. A must side dish! Lamb Stew Au Gratin was very hearty & a perfect Irish Signature Dish. Loved it & soak up the bread mmm! Tasso Hushpuppies comes in four. Sweet & savory w/ sweet corn, pimento, cheddah fried w/ honey cane syrup. My driver told me that Public Service was where you'd pay your electric bills a long time ago. Every where here has history & I love that you can walk to so many places. The sidewalks suck & need help like the potholes in the roads, but the food has been delicious so worth it. Next time will try the Crab Cake Rex which looks like a Scotch Egg wrapped in crab on top of Avocado, Roasted red pepper & corn w/ aged balsamic & hollandaise. BEST IN NOLA FOR: All three & possibly the Crab Cake Rex since about four orders go out.

Yelp
Walked all day through New Orleans so we decided to eat at the hotel. We ordered the Boudin balls (first time ever having boudin), and so glad we did. I had the roasted chicken club and my daughter ordered the margherita pizza. Food was good but we had plenty of left overs.

Yelp
It's ironic that a restaurant named Public Service would have such awful public service. You'd think that the staff would attempt to live up the name, but judging from all the reviews, not so much. The NOPSI hotel itself is beautiful and Public Service is a nice place. My friend made a dinner reservation for a party of 8 several weeks ago. The restaurant wasn't at full capacity for a Saturday night but the servers seemed like they weren't able to handle the dinner crowd. We ordered cocktails from their menu which took unusually long for the bartender to prepare. I'm talking 15+ minutes for one drink with multiple reminders to check on it. Also, they ran out of cucumber garnish for my drink, which would have been fine, but then they ran out of another ingredient. And another. And another. I was confused because it looked like a full bar but they ran out of so many common ingredients. The service overall was very poor and on top of that, we were hit with a 20% gratuity. I never mind tipping 20% or more when I feel like the service is good, but I felt like our server didn't care about our table since he was able to slap that gratuity on our bill at the end. He was nice enough but nowhere to be seen and rarely checked on us. We were looking for him most of the time. The food was so disappointing. The filet mignon was not tender and my New York strip was not consistently cooked throughout - the edges were cooked perfectly medium rare and the center was very dry. How does that even happen? I sampled a little bit of everyone's entrees and everything was mediocre. They really need to step up their game if they want to improve. There are dozens of other great restaurants in the area within a one mile radius. I don't think this place is going to stay open for very long...

Yelp
Coolinary Month! Ah, the most wonderful time of the year--when the best restaurants in town have special, prix fixe menus. Gotta collect them all! The caprese salad was great and so was the service! This place is interesting--overly air-conditioned, well-decorated, still feels like they're getting on their feet and getting the word out. And I hope they do!

Yelp
Came in and went to first bar on the lower level. Asked the bartender if bar bites were available. You should know that I literally parked across the street from the valet booth. I called to verify the time the kitchen closed. I arrived an hour before and the bartender told me the menu she had for bar bites was not currently active. So she walked over to the restaurant bar to retrieve the current available bar bites. I asked if I should join her because I was there to eat. She said it's okay I'll bring the menu back. So she came back with the menu, asked what I wanted to drink. I started my order with my water, then I was moving on to my cocktail and food when the bartender very rudely suddenly decided that she no longer was serving food at her bar. And sent me to the restaurant.

Yelp
Bartenders are pretty friendly but do not walked in near closing, they will not be happy.

Yelp
My husband and I were in town for a wedding and the night before we needed to find a place to have dinner and this place popped up. It was a fantastic place!! The atmosphere was so chill the staff was amazingly friendship the drinks were perfect and the food was on point. We really enjoyed our time there.

Yelp
Awful. Just had a terrible burger here. Very over cooked. Dry bun and cold fries. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

Yelp
Stopped here for drinks after a dinner with my parents. I wasn't drinking and was still a little hungry so I decided to try a couple of their appetizers. I sampled the gumbo which was chicken and sausage that night, and the Brussels sprouts which generally come with bacon but I asked if they could hold it to which the waitress was happy to do for me which I thoroughly appreciated. I thought the gumbo was excellent however my wife thought it was a bit on the salty side. This doesn't surprise me as I tend to like more seasoned foods that she typically does, again I thought it was great. The Brussels sprouts were simply amazing and will be a must for me next time I stop in for sure. I haven't tried the entrees yet but based on my experience with the appetizers I wouldn't think twice about trying them out. Will update once I do so. Cheers!

Yelp
Was in town for a conference and this restaurant was near our hotel that didn't have a restaurant. The food here was wonderful! We had the Causeway Shrimp and the Magazine Meatloaf Wellington. The waiter warned us that the shrimp dish was spicy, it had a kick but nothing that would burn your mouth. He also mentioned that the dish was returned before for being too spicy. I guess everyone has a preference, but I found the dish absolutely delightful. Please don't ever change that recipe, I was craving it the rest of my trip. The meatloaf was flavorful and I appreciated the seasonal squash, it was cooked to perfection. I really enjoyed my trip to New Orleans and plan to be back, this restaurant will always be on my list to eat at when I return to town.

Yelp
Decent brunch. Had the pork Benedict and weirdly the pork was sweet but still enjoyed after some salt. The regular Benedict was decent too. Not too bad for a Hotel restaurant. Expected a bit more though. Service was lackluster.

Yelp
It's really a 3.5 review. What to get: Tasso Hushpuppies (oh....my....goodness) Brussel sprouts (order even if you don't like veggies) Arnold Palmer (one of the best; I think it's pre-made) The above were the highlights. I also tried the chicken wings and public burger. The chicken wings were fried perfectly, but lacked flavor. They also has a blue cheese sauce on them that I didn't realize before suggesting them. I'm not a fan of blue cheese. Nevertheless, even without the sauce, these wings were crying for plain ole seasoning like salt and pepper. The burger description sounded amazing; however, actual execution fell short of expectations. I love short ribs, but the patty needed seasoning. I requested medium, but the patty wasn't as moist and tender as I hoped it would be. Such a shame. The bun was soft like biting into a cloud. Strangely I couldn't taste the other ingredients (manchego, hickory sauce, crispy onion strings). I requested mayo and that helped a little. At $17, though, it should have been one of the best burgers I ever had. And it wasn't even close. The hush puppies were so tender and moist and flavorful. The description read pimento cheese, but I didn't taste any. The syrup was a nice touch. You get about 5 or 6 in an order and I could eat all of'em. The brussel sprouts were off the chain. They were seasoned well with lots of bacon, a hint of hot sauce and syrup?. There was something sweet in there. Lastly, the arnold palmer was so smooth. The perfect combo of tea and lemonade. Not too much tea and not too much lemonade, but jusss right. It's a beautiful restaurant. Great place to take a date or for some other special event, as long as you order the right thing. Service was great also. Our server was very attentive. The hotel lobby is also beautiful. The way they incorporated the old public service building features into the hotel is so nostalgic. See pics for more on that.

Yelp
I had friends that were staying at the NOPSI hotel over the weekend. We visited the attached restaurant, Public Service, a couple times over the weekend. The restaurant is located on Baronne St between Canal and Poydras. Valet parking is available, and there are lots nearby. I found the service to be attentive - they did a good job of breaking down the menu options. The atmosphere of the restaurant is enhanced by the amazing renovation and decor. Food options are pretty wide (see photo of menu). I sampled Cajun poutine, crab cakes, gumbo, debris mac n cheese with short rib, watermelon salad, and shrimp & andouille croquettes. Everything was tasty. There is a full bar with a good selection that should have something for everyone. Prices weren't cheap, but seemed fair for the quality of the food. Fun experience! I'll be back!

Yelp
Great food. Even better service. We are staying in the hotel and had concerns with getting breakfast here as countless reviewers allude to late arrivals of meals. Quite the opposite for us. Service was great. Hospitality was gracious. Pancakes were absolutely delicious. Gotta be honest I'm staying in the hotel and am upset that I used one of my breakfast meals in NOLA to go to ruby slipper when I should have avoided the hype and simply gone down stairs for delicious breakfast. We will be going back before we leave!

Yelp
Sat quickly Coffee order taken quickly I ordered steel cut oatmeal and avocado toast $19 total. My husband ordered thick cut bacon that was thin and the biscuit was dry like the kind they serve at any basic hotel continental breakfast. But they did serve real maple syrup with their thick pancakes. They call them CBD pancakes but waiter said there's no CBD in them ??? What??? Then why title them that? Waiter even said their biscuits are bad and fast food biscuits are better than here!!! I liked the avocado toast. The oatmeal was ok nothing special. This place is overpriced in my opinion. Just below average basic hotel breakfast. Also the salt shaker was dirty that was on the table. Pretty light fixtures and nice details for the ambience I just wish the quality of food matched.

Yelp
This place is a good hotel restaurant located in NOPSI hotel. I personally think this place is underrated on Yelp because this place is amazing! Our server was Chrissy and she was super nice and took care of us really well. We started off with the hush puppies and they were great. The horseradish sauce blended with the hush puppies perfectly. I split a filet mignon and the Apple Pear Blue Cheese salad with one of my friends and I think we both loved it. This place is really good and you should come even if you're not staying at the NOPSI.

Yelp
DIM THE LIGHTS... What a horrible pun, but the sentiment is correct. I'd seen reviews from respected locals that dinner was subpar so I went for breakfast. The fact that I was one of only two seated tables at 10:30AM was not that surprising, but I was not prepared that it would take 15 minutes to get my food. Especially given that it was one of just two house specialties: Porcheta Hash and Eggs. The pork belly was indiscernible, the hollandaise had no taste at all and the eggs had to be two of the smallest specimens of ovi I've ever cut into: $14 (see teenie pic). NEARBY BETTER AND CHEAPER BREAKFASTS: P&G, Ruby Slipper, Café Conti, Majoria's Commerce, Merchant, Jimmy J's, Daisy Dukes, McDonald's (but not the one at Canal & Royal where that guy stabbed two people in August).

Yelp
The food was phenomenal but the wait was not. Not really sure if it was due to the larger party and that caused the kitchen to be backed up. The manager came after our meal and apologized for the long wait which we appreciated. I would like to visit again and see if the service wait is the same. The environment is hip and chic and gives a warm vibe. The space is well utilized to say it's not as large as most restaurants and the menu is well executed for a hotel restaurant.

Yelp
We got to New Orleans pretty early, and we couldn't check in to our airbnb yet. Did a quick search of places that were open and this place popped up. I rolled in with my husband 1 luggage, 1 carry on, a diaper bag, and my almost 2 year old in tow. I never felt so unwelcome in my life. At the very least we were greeted, but it felt like no one wanted us there. We even took our son outside to let him let off some steam because it had been a long early morning for him. The only bathroom is in the adjacent hotel. It is a really beautiful hotel. I had to ask several people which way to go, and it was like they wanted to scoff at me before answering. I finally find the bathroom, while there were 6 or 8 stalls, not one had a changing table (though I'm not docking stars for this, just figure I would mention it for my fellow travelers with babes in diapers). After our one drink (that was nothing to write home about) we left. So disappointed. I love New Orleans and was so sad my husband's first experience was at this place.

Yelp
I and some family members from out of town tried this restaurant tonight. Lawrence was our server and he made the whole experience perfect from the beginning. Three of us had the Gulf Fish (drum) with creole etoufee and asparagus. The fish was fresh and cooked perfectly. Others had the braised short ribs with mac /cheese and sautéed vegetables. One member had broccolini with shrimp. I don't eat dairy. After one mention, it was taken care of, without a question or compromising the dishes. Everyone agreed that all the food was some of the best they've had for a while. We are local, eat out a lot and are pretty picky. This is now the third restaurant in town I would recommend for fresh gulf fish. There was nothing about our dinner that wasn't top of the line.

Yelp
On our recent trip to NOLA we stayed at the NOPSI hotel, we dined at Public service for Saturday brunch. The restaurant is beautiful, I adore all of the decor and design! The menu look fabulous, as I sat there surveying the morning options my mouth was salivating... one of everything please! Since my eyes are definitely larger than my tummy I decided on a mimosa and the boudin grits! I happily washed the perfectly prepared porky grits down with my mimosa, which was more osa than juice, perfection! My family ordered waffles, pancakes, grits, and extra bacon. It was everything a New Orleans brunch should be, boozey, bacony, and seasoned to absolute perfection. Hot sauce served on the side, everything in true Louisiana fashion. The servers were very sweet but the service was very slow, if the continue to serve boudin grits I am happy to overlook this small offense. I will say if you do not like onions do not order the grits, they are full of em' and very hard to pick around. Farrell my dear NOLA, until we meet again! I will continue to be in a boudin state of mind, laissez bon temps rouille.

Yelp
Public Service is the restaurant located in the NOPSI. The restaurant has some kinks to work out, but food was decent. Here's the breakdown. We had a business lunch downtown with four buddies very familiar with lunch in the CBD/French Quarter. Public Service was suggested by one of the guys. No research needed. Easy reservation to get. They did an excellent job with the renovation. The lobby and restaurant are good-looking. Fantastic ambiance. We were seated at an over-sized booth, which we all appreciated. Our waitress was not great. Very sweet, but not a good waitress. A few times we had to flag her or really anybody down for drink refills. She was not particularly familiar with the menu and had trouble elaborating on the details of the dishes. We suspected growing pains given how newness. The hushpuppies were a hit. We had two orders and none went to waste. They're filled with corn, pimento, cheddar and topped with cane syrup. Really nice. Highly recommend. I had the burger, cooked medium. It was ok. 3/5 would be generous. Nothing extraordinary either in a good or bad way. Everyone kind of felt blah about the food with the exception of the hushpuppies. Looking at the restaurant and the menu, I thought the food was going to be great. The ambiance certainly elevated the lunch experience. On the other hand, the service leaves much to be desired. That leaves the food. Pretty good but not great. Probably won't repeat with so much competition in the area. In regards to his shrimp roll, lil Jacob's quote: "Light on flavor, heavy on mayonnaise."

Yelp
Crawfish mac n cheese = outstanding! Cornbread was awesome, too. Good strong drinks and great service.

Yelp
Came here for dinner right when they opened and... PROS: - was promptly seated - restaurant decor was nice and had high ceilings and comfortable (private) booth seating. - server attentive and friendly - appetizer prices were reasonable - gumbo and mac n cheese were good CONS: - didn't find the complementary cornbread and hush puppies to be appealing. They tasted bland and hush puppies were very hard. - steak frite entree was rather expensive for a small piece of ribeye cut into further small pieces. It did include some large overly salted fries. - tagliatelle entree was decent but pasta was a little hard.

Yelp
It's a gin bar! There's a great selection of different gins and tonics. You could do an amazing flight from that. But they also have a great selection of original gin-based cocktails. The bartenders are always friendly and knowledgeable about the gins they carry and the cocktails they serve.

Yelp
Public DISSERVICE. Stood at the host stand for about five minutes until anyone came over. Food was lacking flavor, service was poor and inattentive. Don't waste your time. One poboy was all I ordered it came dry with nothing on it. The restaurant only had 3 other tables so they weren't busy at all- sandwich took FOREVER.

Yelp
The food here was amazing, definitely giving a high rate for the crab cakes and hush puppies alone! Staff needs more or less training, they were super overbearing as if they were being watched closely by management making it uncomfortable and non genuine.
