Publix Is Replacing the Disco Kroger on Piedmont Road in Buckhead | Eater Atlanta

"A brand-new 55,000-square-foot Publix is slated to replace the demolished Kroger building as part of a two-year redevelopment at 3330 Piedmont Road; construction is expected to finish sometime in 2024. It will take over the longtime Kroger space but the piece notes it’s unlikely this Publix will enjoy the same local notoriety or fondness as the former store, and asks that people not call it the 'Disco Publix.'" - Beth McKibben

Beautiful location right in the heart of Buckhead. Spacious parking lot amazing building surrounding lots of places to eat right in this area. This location has a café coffee bar you can pull up to and brew ☕️ up some action 🇺🇸💯👏🏽🐺 Thankful that they purchased this beautiful development. Will be a staple for the neighborhood for a long time to come.

Absolutely love the new Publix in Buckhead! The store is beautiful, clean, and well-organized. The coffee shop upstairs is a great touch—perfect spot to relax with a latte or smoothie. Tons of fresh food options, from sushi to pizza and wings. Staff are friendly and helpful. Great experience overall!

I was excited to see the new additions at this location – the salad bar, pizza station, and other quick-lunch options are a nice touch. However, after two visits, I left feeling uncomfortable and disappointed. Both times, I felt racially profiled. While my grandson and I were browsing and deciding what to purchase, I noticed associates and security repeatedly appearing near where we were shopping. As we proceeded to check out and head toward the door, security and staff positioned themselves at the front entrance. Once we exited, the associate stationed outside immediately went back in. We paid for our items and left like any customer. But the implication was clear, and both visits left us feeling watched instead of welcomed. It’s discouraging and unacceptable. Customers deserve to shop without being profiled based on appearance or assumptions. I hope management takes this seriously and addresses it, because no one should feel uncomfortable spending their money here. This is the ONLY reason for the two-star review.

I’m giving one star and I have a few reasons why. I’ve given this Publix over a year now to meet or even get close to public shopping standards. As a former employee in Florida, I understand the standards are rigid, but very achievable. The grand majority of the other Publix is around Buckhead beautifully meet the minimum standards. This Publix is big. It’s new. It’s a new concept for the area. But unfortunately, that’s all it has going for it. The staff is willfully under trained and painfully slow. The sub station in deli section is dirty. The staff has an attitude. After giving up on the substation. I tried out the new hot bar section. Standing by the ordering station for long enough to make eye contact with who I presume was manning that station just for them to give me a nod and continue walking to talk to another employee. This is just a recount from my latest interaction in the store. I’m hoping this feedback pumps management to do something because I would love to see this location flourish. In my opinion, the sushi and the coffee bar is doing OK.

This Publix is EVERYTHING! It's in the place of the old Disco Kroger. They have in-store popped Popcorn (multiple flavors), the Deli which has the Hot Bar, Sushi, Pizza, the Salad Bar, & the Wing Bar. They also have the Pours, which you can get coffee, tea, smoothies, wine, beer, and even acai bowls. Oh yeah, and I almost forgot to mention they have a Burrito & Nacho Bowl station as well. My favorite was all the different sample stations throughout the store. I tried Oreo Popcorn, Garlic & Romano sausage (which is made in-house), and my son sampled Peppermint Stick Publix brand ice cream. I also loved the Wing Bar, so many different flavors of wings were available. The customer service was A+, just as it always is in Publix. My shopping experience this afternoon was DEFINITELY a pleasure.

The store is amazing, but the deli manager by the name of Spencer is always amazing with great customer service and able to help me and my company whenever we need a large deli order. He is always so polite and well organized, and able to make things happen sometimes even at the last minute. I know that he’s moving over to Peachtree Landing. We will definitely miss him at this store.

Me and my daughter went on a Sat and WOWW..this new store design is Impressive and Daunting, where do I start, you need more than one visit to take it all in! White floors, instead of the peppered black and cream look, acai bowl, Wine/beer pour area that looks like a bar, a burrito/Nacho bar, aPizza bar and they can make a custom pizza while you wait, even a fresh popcorn making area, In addition there is an Extremely large selection salad & pasta bar area next to, a soup bar with at least 8 choices across from, a wing bar with 10 diffeent flavors, Don't forget this store has all of these amenities ontop of their normal seafood, meat, bakery and deli area which are standard in ALL Publix stores. A fun aspect is there is even an upstairs dining area overlooking the store. I meet the Super nice store manager because my daughter had to express her awe and delight about how impressed she was with the clean white floors. There are only 4 stores with this particulr design, one in Kentucky, one in Georgia, and two in Flordia. As a current Publix employee now myself I was impressed. I can't wait for my own store's remodel , but This one is top notch. I'll be back.
