A few days ago I ordered two subs online that were made incorrectly. I called that day and was told I could come back and have them remade or get a refund. I was also told on the call that I didn’t have to come back that day because it was inconvenient for me to do so, as this is not the Publix closest to where I live. Well, I came back today and had the worst experience I have ever had at any Publix. I went to customer service first to make sure I was good to get my sandwiches remade. That was like a 10 min wait just to get a manager’s approval. Then I was told that the ticket would be given to the deli employees in the back to remake my order. Well, that’s who messed up my order in the first place so I didn’t want to do that. Therefore I opted to stand in the sandwich line, even though there was a line. There were about 5 people ahead of me, but I didn’t think it was a huge deal because I’ve waited in plenty of Publix sandwich lines before. From the time I joined the line to the time I left the line was about 45-50 minutes. I then had to go back to customer service to check out. The manager happened to be present and by this time I was beyond frustrated so I talked to the manager about my long wait. Although she apologized, she defended my wait with the fact that they were busy and it’s “always like this”. I told her I have been to other locations where they had long lines and never had to wait this long. She told me this location is always like this and she doesn’t know why. I won’t be back this location, EVER. I understand this may not be the most glamorous location for a Publix, but the patrons of this neighborhood still deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. The overall lackluster attitude here is not reflective of any of the experiences I’ve ever had at any Publix. Shopping definitely isn’t a pleasure at this location, and I feel bad for the people of this neighborhood because it’s pretty much a grocery store desert over here and there are no other options. Lack of competition is no excuse to treat people poorly or with disregard. Do better, Publix.
