Where to Enjoy a Glass of Chardonnay This Summer in San Diego | Eater

"Pueblo’s Baja roots run deep in this bright, airy rooftop restaurant and bar, just steps from the sand in Pacific Beach. If you’re looking for variety alongside your chardonnay, order the molcajete, a hot lava stone bowl brimming with shrimp, carne asada, and chorizo, alongside refried beans, rice, guacamole, and salsa. There’s a vegan version too that subs all that meat for tofu, portobello mushrooms, nopales, and squash." - Vox Creative

Celebrate International Chardonnay Day at These San Diego Spots | Eater

"Bright, airy, and just steps from the sand, the Baja roots run deep at Pueblo in Pacific Beach. Pair buttery Harken Chardonnay with a traditional molcajete mar y tierra, a hot lava stone bowl brimming with shrimp, carne asada, chorizo, panela and salsa, with chorizo refried beans, rice, guac and pico. There’s a vegan version, too, that subs the meat with tofu, portobello mushrooms, squash, nopales, and black beans." - Mary Beth Abate

There were 3 of us for a late lunch. 2 on our party thought the food was great however I was very underwhelmed so this review is just based on my experience. I had the fish tacos and not sure what kind of fish they served but it wasn't great, was overcooked and therefore had a rubbery texture. All of my food (tacos rice and beans) were so bland that I would never consider these to have a bold Mexican inspired flavor I had anticipated. The chips were nicely seasoned but we're not fresh. The salsas I do have to say were great. I was happy to see my favorite beer on tap (dos xx amber) but unfortunately it wasn't ice cold and it would have been preferable to have been served in a frosted glass which it wasn't. We split a churro ice cream for dessert and I have to say that this was excellent!!! Service was excellent. Our server was welcoming friendly and attentive Atmosphere: The decor and atmosphere are beautiful. The patio area is wonderful. On the inside seating area they only have the tall table and chairs so be aware of this if you don't like the tall chairs. There is an upstairs patio but it's only open on Friday and Saturday nights.

Google
A solid 4.6 . . . I’ve wanted Mexican food for the last several days, but didn’t want some low-end thing on the beach or boardwalk. I found it by a Google search, it did not disappoint. I was dining solo, but hadn’t eaten all day. The corn chips they brought to the table after I was seated were way too spicy for me, but I continued eating until my food arrived. I got two things . . . a quesadilla and surf and turf tacos. Both were excellent and surprisingly filling. The waiter was nice, as was the server who also helped me with water even though I wasn’t her table. Since Google doesn’t allow half stars, I’m always torn as to what to do. I definitely recommend this place.

Google
Atmosphere & Service: The atmosphere is fantastic and the servers are very friendly and attentive, creating a welcoming vibe. Food: The presentation of the food was impressive, but the flavors fell a bit short. While nothing tasted bad, the dishes lacked the bold, vibrant flavors you’d expect from a Mexican seafood restaurant. Drinks: Unfortunately, the margaritas didn’t live up to expectations and weren’t worth the price.

After my haircut, the hairstylist told me that this restaurant is amazing. Since I was really hungry before dinner, I decided to give it a try. The place is absolutely beautiful and grand, creating a fantastic atmosphere. I’m alone, so I ordered octopus tacos with free nachos and goodness, they were delicious! Next time I return, I’ll try something else. The servers were very nice. It was the perfect spot to satisfy my hungry tummy!

Google
What an incredible find! The extensive menu can please anyone, including vegan and vegetarian. I had the seafood enchiladas which was super delicious along with guacamole and chips. Our waiter was attentive and friendly. The menu prices were also very reasonable. I’ll be back!

Google
I was there in a group of 12 people and the food was good, but the service horrible our waiter gave us the first round of drinks and forgot about us, we make reservation and our table wasn't ready for us, any way food was good, the mole and chile relleno is delicious and mescal drinks are the best!

Google
Loved the building and the staff, chips and salsa were out of this world good as were the guacamole and ceviche. However my main was kinds ho hum (seafood enchilada) and the desert could Have used a lot of work. My wife’s scallop dish was not too shabby. Hard to stand out as a Mexican place here especially with tj so close. Cocktails also on point. People know how to make a drink in SD I suppose 🤣 If you’re in the area and don’t feel like Ubering or driving it probably isn’t a bad choice, I probably just didn’t get the right thing.

Google
I had an amazing experience at Pueblo in San Diego! The shrimp ceviche was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the crispy fish tacos literally melted in my mouth. The margarita was perfectly balanced and full of flavor. What truly made the visit special was the warm and friendly service from Crystal—she made me feel genuinely welcomed. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Service was friendly and efficient. Decor is upscale and modern. This place was pretty quiet on a Monday, so we essentially had a semi private room. Conchinita Pibil was the best dish on the table IMO (mine!). So freaking delicious! Everyone enjoyed their meals. Cantaloupe aqua fresca was a little too sweet and had a cucumber aftertaste that I didn't love.

Yelp
My friend lives down the street & had been meaning to try this spot out -- we both loved it! The ceviche with shrimp was excellent, perfectly citrusy and the veg served as dippers was fresh and a perfect amount for dipping. Obviously the plating is gorgeous as well! Also, my friend ordered tacos & didn't realize there was beans on them, so she mentioned it to our waiter and they replaced them without beans -- they did not need to do that at all, and it was sooo nice of them. He also made a pornstar martini per her request & made it fabulously. We'll definitely be back to try more of their menu items.

Yelp
There are limited parking spaces in their private lot. Lots of street parking and parking lots close by if it gets busy. There wasn't a crowd when we arrived at 6:30 on a Tuesday night. It was definitely busier when we left around 8. They do take reservations. 1st, the chips and salsa - yummmm. I love hot salsa!! Then we had the empanadas. They were small - about 2 bites, but they were tasty! I had the chile relleno combo and hubby had steak and shrimp fajitas, I think. There was something different about the batter on the relleno, seemed doughy vs fluffy. It was still delicious! Hubby cleaned up his plate too, so he was happy. We tried the fried ice cream for dessert and I loved it. It was gooey, messy, but fun to eat. It wasn't too sweet. Kelley was great and provided excellent service. Would love to come back during warmer evenings to sit on the rooftop patio. Or even have drinks at the bar.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance! It's not that big inside but the patio was quite spacious for our family of 4 ( we have a dog ). We opted for the 3 chicken soft tacos, with a side of beans and rice. Very delicious, I just wish they offered hot sauce. We also ordered the two item meal , pork tamale and chicken enchilada. Both were equally yummy. The complimentary chips and salsa hit the spot. I ordered two margaritas and they were both watered down, not strong at all.

Yelp
Long story short/overall - it was ok. I picked this place for dinner because the ambiance looked cute and they had good reviews for food. I got the vegan quesadilla and my partner the vegan molcajete. I subbed the vegan cheese with regular cheese and didn't realize a surcharge would be added because I did that - our waitress did not say anything so when I got the check I was a bit surprised...if I would have known, I would have kept the vegan cheese because even though it was a quesadilla, the cheese was no where to be found... The best bites for me was the chips and salsa with the guacamole and pico de gallo from my plate. Quesadilla was nothing to write home about, but wasn't bad either, just ok. I wish the quesadilla was with flour instead of corn tortillas. The molcajete was good - big portion of food and a variety of vegetables and sides were given with it. The margarita was good. My partner was considering getting a fish dish, but someone a few tables away had gotten their food and it had a terrible fishy smell, so they decided to not chance it. I noted on the reservation that I was celebrating an anniversary and the service combined with everything else with the food just felt lackluster. Service was bad - Nothing felt special, our waitress took a really long time to greet us and give us waters/chips. The restaurant for a Saturday night was not filled, but still relatively busy. I am not in a rush to come back, but am glad I checked it out for myself.

Yelp
I had a lovely dinner here on a Sunday evening on the patio, which was relaxed, and surrounded by cacti foliage. Brady was a very friendly and attentive server. The El Don margaritas was delicious, and strong enough I only needed one drink. I'm usually a cocktail plus glass of wine with dinner person, but one margaritas was good for me. For appetizer, the ceviche of the day was shrimp. The flavors were amazing and the amount of and size of shrimp was extremely generous in this dish. For dinner, I highly recommend the Chile relleno del mar. It had lobster, shrimp, and fish. The slightly creamy but not heavy sauce complemented the seafood perfectly. The rice and beans were fine but nothing to write home about. I highly recommend trying a side of their Tijuana street corn. I got it off the cob and it was fresh and had jalapeño butter, which wasn't spicy but tasted like brown butter corn. Soooo good! I'll be dreaming about their street corn. I appreciated that they were relaxed and didn't rush you. I enjoyed people watching on the patio. They do have a small parking lot behind the building which always helps in the city. I highly recommend Pueblo!

Yelp
Dang not sure why I waited so long to try Pueblo, but glad I came to my senses. Really reallly great food. I felt the portions were perfect and the flavors were fresh, bright and outstanding. I miss Tex-Mex, Sonoran Mex and New Mexican cuisine living in San Diego. Cali Burritos or local tacos DO NOT scratch the itch. Happy to say Pueblo really really changed my mind about what was possible in San Diego. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Such a cool, groovy vibe in this place. I went on a trip to San Diego and definetly got the high quality Mexican food I was looking for. I got the surf and turf tacos and they were perfect, not too much food. Felt just right. My classic margarita was also great and not sweet (just the way I like it). Staff was nice. Only bummer was that the roof top wasn't opened which is kinda why we picked the place.

Yelp
Really good Mexican in an area that seems spotty on excellent food. This is in a busy part of San Diego, where you might be going to the beach or shopping for clothes if you have young ladies. This totally hit the spot for great Mexican food in a beautiful setting very new building and I am not a fan of high top tables, but it was fine. The staff was super friendly and accommodating for our walk in. I just wanted the classic ground beef tacos and they were delicious everything my kids got was delicious and just as they were craving as well. I would definitely stop here again next time passing through. Definitely get a margarita if that's your thing!

Yelp
Crystal is a fun & talented bartender, beautiful restaurant, great outdoor patio under the big pepper tree. Wide variety of good food!

Yelp
Service is fast and friendly. Our server was so nice and the hostess was friendly too. Really excellent service here. We sat out on the patio which was a lovely vibe with trees and hanging lights. A nice spot for a date night. The food was okay. The ceviche with shrimp was great! Shrimp was incredibly fresh! Would not recommend the fish tacos. The fish was good. Not fishy at all, however the taco itself lacked flavor and the corn tortilla tasted old like it came from the refrigerator. The desert here is excellent. We had fried ice cream and banana flan. I would recommend either of them. Well made, and one could easily be shared with two people. Parking for here is tricky. Which is to be expected in California. They do not have their own onsite parking so your options are street parking or paid parking lot. We went on a Friday so all the street parking was taken, so we did paid parking lot which was $27 for two hours. So just keep that in mind.

Yelp
Visited Pueblo last week, on Thursday evening. Pretty interior and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. We were seated right away. I ordered a margarita, which I really enjoyed. I also ordered a Chili Relleno burrito, which was very delicious. My partner ordered carne asada. I ate couple of his fresh tortilla that came with it - just amazing! I would come back and try this again. I took off one star because we couldn't find our server when it was time to go and had to ask the hostess for a takeout container and our bill.

Yelp
I visited this restaurant with a friend on a Friday night! They take reservations but it surprisingly wasn't busy. We sat inside and it was very clean, just super loud from the music and crowd chatter. Our waiter was very nice and kept checking on us. We ordered chips and guac, shrimp and carne asada tacos and a margarita. The margarita was really salty and so was the carne asada tacos! The shrimp was good though. This place is also super pricey for what you get. The chips and guac was $12, and for the quality of the tacos, you can definitely get some better food at a local grab and go taco shop. They're also the type of restaurant to take pictures of you and try to sell you framed photos of your meal, so be prepared for that haha.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant with an eye catching ocean blue sign posted above the entryway. The building itself is attractive, painted white with aqua trim and an aqua patio cover. Potted cactus and tall palm trees provide a coastal Baja flair. Overall, the service was pretty good. Our food came quickly. I ordered the chicken taco salad. My son tried the chicken burrito. The servings were generous. The rice and beans were very well seasoned. Regardless of how wet the burrito was, the tortilla is never soggy. The tortilla chicken salad was gigantic and filling. The meals were served on lovely Mexican inspired plates. There was cute and colorful decor including the glass pieces. There is a full bar. Lovely mural on the wall in a separate sitting area.

Yelp
Food is so yummy, service is great, drinks are strong and refreshing. I think our waiters name was Michael??? He gave great service! Came here with a group of 11 to celebrate us finishing Pilates teacher training across the street. Love the seat up and open seating. We were placed in a semi private room which was so cute and made it more intimate! Loved the molcajete. Saw others at the restaurant ordering it and it smelled so yummy I had to get it for myself. Super instagrammable since it's sizzling hot. The free chips and salsa are also yummy. Not picturered but ordered the La Guapa Margarita. It was refreshing and fruity. I recommend to people who like guava flavored drinks. My friends ordered other margaritas like the Piña del Sur and el don but everyone said they liked the La Guapa the best. Def want to come here again to try their happy hour and order all the desserts I was so sad everyone was too full to get desserts after lol Also, sign up for their birthday club to get $15 off!!!

Yelp
Well made tasty grubbage. I sat at the bar, bartender was attentive and helpful. The enchiladas were tasty filling. I'll have to check out the happy hour soon enough.

Yelp
We waited forever for our food, there was a large party in front of us and it took so long for our food to come.

Yelp
I've been here a few times for tacos -- they're always delicious, though a bit pricey. The guacamole is fantastic as well. I recently attended a Galentine's martini-making event, and it was an amazing experience. They offered complimentary cupcakes and sweets, along with appetizers like ceviche, guacamole, and another dish. We learned how to make espresso martinis and got to take home a shaker, a shot glass, and a hat promoting the vodka distillery that sponsored the event. The ambiance was wonderful, the service was exceptional, and everyone was incredibly friendly.

Yelp
While on vacation, we were given a tip to try Pueblo by our hotel clerk. We stopped by during happy hour and ordered a couple of margaritas and guacamole and chips- all delicious. The real star of the restaurant was our entrees. My wife had the Ranchero Taco Salad with a chicken breast added. She loved it. The chicken was marinated to perfection. I had the Molcahete surf and turf. It was outstanding! One of the best dishes I've ever had. We also had the pleasure of meeting the chef, Angel. He was warm and friendly-just like the restaurant's ambiance. Five stars. Highly recommended!

Yelp
nice place. i ordered the rellano del mar which is suppose to be stuffed with shrimp and lobster. it had 3 shrimp, one piece of lobster very small pepper. the rellano had no egg batter like it should. for 23 dollars this was a rip off. the beans were like a table spoon no choirzio in the rice. the water hovered like he wanted us to leave. plus you have to pay for a parking meter. my friend order carne asada taco no gucamole or chesse on them.

Yelp
The atmosphere + the food made my night!! The service fast fast and great. It was my favorite meal of my trip. I LOVED the quesabirra tacos. The chips and salsa were amazing as well!

Yelp
Today, after a great morning at Sea World as a family outing, we were looking for a casual spot nearby to grab some lunch. For context of my review, I recently was diagnosed with PCOS, so changing my diet has been a big priority for me (in addition to taking a break from alcohol). So, I was looking for a place for lunch that offered a light and fresh menu that offered items that were tasty and fit my new dietary needs. Pueblo sincerely checked all of the right boxes! We arrived around noonish and were seated right away. We chose the outdoor patio and were greeted right away from our server, Jesse (Jessie?...sorry, if I'm spelling your name wrong!). His service was helpful, friendly, and fast. He arrived with fresh tortilla chips and a salsa sampler as well as our waters. There seemed to be a lot of variety to the menu overall (which I liked) and I appreciate so much that they offer 'mocktails.' I tried their non-alcoholic mule called the Feisty Mule and it was delicious - definitely something I look forward to ordering again in the future. My husband, who is also taking a break from alcohol, tried their Athletic Light NA beer (which is brewed right here in SD) and he really enjoyed it. What truly drew me to Pueblo today was their take on Baja coastal cuisine. A lot of the menu items are light and made with the freshest ingredients. PCOS and Latin food often don't mix, but Pueblo does a wonderful job of fusing healthy with flavor. The kids shared a kids plate of cheese quesadillas with a side of beans and rice. For us, my husband and I shared an appetizer of their Chef's Choice Ceviche (today it was shrimp). OMG. We both love a good ceviche and this one is a MUST try. The citrus marinade is packed with flavor and just the right amount of citrus. Next, we shared their Molcajete Mar y Tierra which reminded us of something we'd had previously at a restaurant years ago in Ventura. All-in-all, we both really enjoyed everything we had. And as a last added note, I loved the portions of everything as well! Easily shareable and no food gone to waste. If you're still reading, I truly cannot do it justice. Pueblo is just a wonderful spot to check out for yourself if you're in PB. It's great for all guests - including families - and the place is clean, welcoming, and a really great gem for the neighborhood. Looking forward to making our way back!

Yelp
This spot is a cute, modern but very laid back feel to it. We were sat outside by some heaters with a nicely lit patio. Drinks were good. We got a Ay Dios Mío mango margarita which was delicious. We also had a piña del sur margarita which was like a spicy piña colada on the rocks. It was really good. The Paloma was ok, it was just a bit bland. For the food the ceviche was amazing, lime forward with some spice, couldn't have asked for anything better. The queso fundido with poblano was solid, the salsa that comes with the chips was a bit disappointing. It lacked flavor and the yellow one was really bland with nothing but the spice at the end. The fish tacos were also bland. The fish itself had good flavor but all the toppings and tortilla took away all the flavor. It turned into a bland taco. Beans and rice were good. The seafood poblano was amazing. The sauce and the fillings, mixed with the slight spice of the poblano were delicious, 10/10 would recommend. The banana flan and fried ice cream were really good as well, perfect way to end the meal. Our waitress was amazing and so was her assistant, a short Hispanic guy. Can't remember her name but she was attentive and super nice! Her service was great and she said she had recently moved to the area, maybe that'll help identify her. Overall it was a great experience, the tacos and salsa are the only reason keeping this place form 5 stars.

Yelp
A group of about 10 of us came to Pueblo on a Friday evening. The service was alright; our server was attentive but a bit forgetful. Unfortunately, the food was bland--no matter the dish, all of us agreed it lacked flavor. The drinks were slightly better but still just okay. On a positive note, the view and the restaurant itself were very beautiful, which added a nice ambiance to our meal. Also, there was a freelance photographer on site. She took photos of our group without being asked and then tried to charge us for them, disrupting our meal.
google avatar

Lisa S.

Yelp
Very good! First visit. We had reservations and we arrived I asked if we could sit outside due to having two small dogs. At first the hostess said no because of a private party they would be having that took up the entire downstairs. I was disappointed because I really wanted to try this place. She asked a manager and they allowed us to sit outside which was wonderful. The food was really good! Service was a a tad slow, but I understood because they were setting up for the party so I didn't say anything. Beautiful place and patio. The presentation on the food was really nice as well. Happy hour menu is great! I ordered the rolled chicken tacos and my husband got the molcajete. We will def be back.

Yelp
Pueblo has officially become my new favorite spot in PB! From the moment we walked in, the vibe was warm and welcoming, and the service was top-notch. Special shoutout to Marina, the bartender -- she's absolutely incredible. Super friendly, attentive, and she made some of the best drinks we've had in a long time. Every cocktail was perfectly balanced and packed with flavor. The food? Absolutely out of this world. We kept it simple and ordered the chicken and cheese quesadilla, and honestly, nothing else compares. It was juicy, cheesy, and packed with so much flavor in every bite. Sometimes the simplest dishes are the hardest to get just right, and Pueblo absolutely nailed it. The salsa they serve with it was fresh and vibrant, the perfect kick to complement the dish. We also had the guacamole, and it was just as perfect -- creamy, fresh, and full of flavor. Highly recommend this spot if you're in Pacific Beach. Great food, amazing drinks, fantastic service. We'll definitely be coming back!
google avatar

Julie D.

Yelp
The ambience at Pueblo is stunning. The lit trees and glow of the fires make for a dreamy, romantic setting. The chips and salsa come complimentary and the chips are really good! They're not too salty and not too thin, I look forward to them every time. We tried the chicken tacos and the carne asada tacos, both delicious in their own way
google avatar

Brenda D.

Yelp
Pretty decent food and service. We sat at the bar upstairs on a Friday, and they had only one girl as a bartender for that entire area. Don't get me wrong, she was killing it! But I feel they should've had another bar tender there, as well. The caesar salad with shrimp was pretty good, but the molcajete lacked a lot of flavor. Drinks were great.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place out because of the pictures I saw. We got the bacon wrapped shrimp as an appetizer. It was really good. The dipping sauce made it taste even better. Also got the chicken mole and seafood enchiladas as the main meals. The chicken was a little dry, but the mole sauce tasted good. The enchiladas had some good flavor. The reason for the low rating is because of the flying bugs that were bothering us while eating. They kept on trying to land on our food. I counted at least 6 on the wall right next to us. Could not take it anymore and asked to be seated somewhere else. The staff was kind and moved us. I do want to come back and try other items.

Yelp
Good vegan menu options! Ordered tithe quesadilla as it's been a minute having a vegan one. Flavors were there, ambiance X 100 (great evening feel yourself and your date vibes) and portion sizes came through!

Yelp
We came here on a Sunday afternoon and the place was pretty empty. I'm not sure why, because the food was outstanding!!! Every single thing we ordered was AMAZING! Drinks - do yourself a favor and order the Piña del Sur. It's like a coconut margarita with jalapeño tequila and coconut rum. It is one of the best drinks I've ever had in my life. So fragrant and floral! I had to order another because it was SO good. The chips and salsa were even great!! Chips were seasoned with some seasoning, and the salsa were fresh and so delicious! There was a green salsa and a red salsa, I couldn't decide which one was better. We ordered the queso fondito and tortilla soup for starters. The tortilla soup was really really good. The queso fondito was also very good. Savory and sweet, with some corn in it. We then ordered the chicken chimichanga... loved it! Everything was perfect!

Yelp
The food here impressed me. The selection was wide and the flavors were amazing. Nothing too salty or oily. I definitely felt the quality in the dishes. The service was a little slow and it seemed there wasnt enough help. The ambiance was clean and lively.

Yelp
Love the environment open setting guacamole was to notch, chicken salad was big enough to share

Yelp
We were a group of 10 and sat on the rooftop. Very nice evening. I ordered the combo plate. The chili relleno was great but the pork tamale was awful. Absolutely no meat in it just a bunch of masa. Mark at the restaurant was very helpful in explaining a charge on the bill.

Yelp
My wife and I were in town and yelped for a suggestion; Pueblo had good reviews so we decided to try it out. We were very happy we did! The restaurant has a cool atmosphere and we were greeted immediately by the host and seated. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We started with the spicy shrimp ceviche and street corn; both were delicious! My wife had the Salmon empapeado which was very well prepared and tasty. I had the seafood enchiladas that were equally good. The overall experience was great and we look forward to coming back!

Yelp
Unfortunately the restaurant had a long wait time. Was quite loud to be able to enjoy a family sit down meal. Maybe next time.

Yelp
Excellent place to celebrate National Margarita Day. I had the skinny marg. Since it was skinny, I felt it acceptable to have more than one.

Yelp
Went to Pueblo, walking distance from the VRBO. Modern and airy, upscale casual Mexican restaurant. Street parking seems abundant but this was a Monday evening. The restaurant was airy and open, modern decor. Service was attentive. The guacamole was okay but the chips were well seasoned. The queso was much better, chunky and most importantly cheesy. The beef short was very tender, literally fall off the bone. The corn tortillas served with them were fine, seemed store bought. The octopus was tender as well. The margaritas and sangria were excellent. The prices were on par considering the location and overall a great experience, especially with a larger party.

Yelp
Good place to go if you're in a rush and want a taste of Americanized Mexican food. But amazing place for drinks and groups. Our server was great too! Paloma did not taste good. But margarita was better!

Yelp
First things first, the space is beautiful. From the decor to the colors, the clean lines, and the incorporation of nature in and around the property, it is aesthetically pleasing. We were visiting San Diego with our dog, so I specifically looked for a place that was dog friendly. This place had good reviews and looked like it had a unique arrangement. We came in last Wednesday around 1 PM. There were a few occupied tables, but it was quiet for the most part. We were seated at a table right under the big tree in the patio. While it was beautiful, there were leaves and other debris (pollen?) from the tree all over our table... on the plates, the napkins. We wiped it off and didn't complain about it. It wasn't a totally big deal, but two people in my party of four both were vocal amongst our group about how it should at least be minded before seating someone there. The service was good. They checked in on us with a good amount of intervals. We shared the Costa Azul Stuffed Shrimp (bacon wrapped, chorizo, tomatillo salsa). So good! My mother in law had the Quesadilla Adobada (flour tortilla, adobada seasoned pork, jack chees, red onions, cilantro, avocado salsa, crema, grilled pineapple, cotija). She really liked it, but about halfway, the spice -though not terribly spicy- was a bit much for her. My father-in-law had the Pasta Negra Gabriel (Grilled octopus, sauteed shrimp, seashell pasta, chorizo, tomatoes, mozzarella, mole verde, squid ink tomatillo sauce, cilantro). I was actually surprised he ordered that because he is a basic kind of guy if you know what I'm saying. Anyway, he said it was "okay." My hub and I both had the Surf and Turf Tacos (Ribeye beef, shrimp, monterey jack, guajillo sauce, avocado salsa). They come with a side of chorizo refried beans (yum!) and baja rice. I really enjoyed it. I ate the whole thing. LOL A little bit all over the place in my review, but overall, 4 stars.

Yelp
I got terribly sick with diarrhea from this place. I was bent over the toilet for so many hours I had to call the cdc to see if there was a romaine outbreak to prevent others from getting sick. Please do not eat the table salsa.

Yelp
This is a lovely restaurant that I and friends and family have been coming to since it opened. There is a lot to like but after so many visits, my food assessment is it's hit and miss on menu items. The setting is beautiful and it offers amazing inside, patio, and rooftop dining. I've been so many times and again today, brought 3 friends who had never been here. The consensus was the usual mix: some good, some not so. Chips and salsa, good. I always get the carne asada plate but the meat is dry and doesn't seem marinated. One friend had a chicken enchilada which she said was good. Other friends were mixed on theirs and the banana flan they ordered they felt wasn't sweet enough and didn't taste like flan. Overall, it's always a mostly ok experience but it's never a total wow. It should be.
