The food was good, But they brought out the food at different times. Drinks were great. They need more servers on Saturday. We waited for a while to get our food. The place is super cute and the food is great. But be prepared to wait for a while to get your food. Drinks are $15+ but they are definitely worth it. We all had different foods and everything was good. There’s only one bathroom for the whole restaurant. Bathroom was very clean. We spent about $45 a person for lunch.

The food is fresh and flavorful. The menu has a great combination of food from different countries. The service was great too. We enjoyed the drinks as well.

The restaurant is located in the Bay Ridge section of Brooklyn. The restaurant prepares Spanish/Latin cuisine. I ordered the grilled salmon with sweet potatoes, corn, avocado mousse and pickled red cabbage. The chicken fajitas included red and green peppers, poblano mole, white rice, pico de gallo, frijoles, guacamole and two flour tortillas. The fish empanada was good and shaped like a fish. The restaurant is decorated for the Halloween holiday. Friendly and helpful staff.

I ate here yesterday for the 1st time. The food was very good. We had, pork, steak, chicken, and shredded beef, guacamole, beet salad and sangria. The only recommendation is to lower the music a little bit. It’s hard to have a conversation when it’s too loud. Besides that everything was great!

This place was AMAZINGGGGG.. Every thing about it from the moment you walk in!! The staff is super attentive and the food and drinks was the best I’ve had in a longggg time.. We asked them if they could sing Happy Birthday and they came out and danced and all…They even took pictures with us while doing their job.. 10 out of 10..Thank you Puertas Staff🫶🏼

I came here for my pre- birthday dinner. Staff is super friendly and welcoming. The decor and ambiance of this restaurant are great. Throughout the restaurant, there are pics of legend latin artists. The menu has a variety of food choices to choose from. I love how the menu has different latin dishes from different countries. The bar is nice and spacious. For drinks, we ordered Coco Cruz, Ruben Blades Rum, and a frozen strawberry margarita. Drinks were nice and strong. Appetizers were delicious. We ordered guacamole with tostones, shrimp ceviche, and Empanadas. I loved how each empanada was shaped differently to distinguish the filling inside. For our main entrees, we ordered the Bandeja Paisa, Ropa Vieja, and Carne Asada. All three dishes were delicious and packed with flavors. For dessert we ordered dairy free tres leche cake and a coconut flan. Both desserts were delicious. Staff came out to sing happy birthday to me. We were brought out free shots. Overall, this place is amazing. The bathroom is kept cleaned. Staff was very attentive and super friendly. We will definitely be returning back. Keep up with them on social media, where they post when they have brunch events or live bands in attendance. Amazing latin restaurant in Bayridge.

Google
Lovely food and good drinks. Really nice atmosphere and the location was nice too. The food in the area is hit or miss (not everyone should have a restaurant you know) but this place really has something special. Please go here so they don’t ever close!

Google
I looooove Puertas! We celebrated my mom’s birthday there. Music in great, drinks are so good. 45$ for margaritas unlimited is a bit pricey but still very very good. The food is incredible. 10/10 I recommend. The staff is awesome.

Yelp
I was honestly surprised that this place wasn't more busy than it was, but I did go on a Monday. With that being said it was a 10 out of 10!!!! Tito's Moscow Mule perfect, from apps to entrees, everything was AMAZING. Our waitress is a MVP and ironically I remember her serving me at her previous job Prime623. I think her name is Bella. Long story short, it's a great place to visit for food and authentic food. Will definitely be back!!!!!

Yelp
Very nice ambience and attentive staff. At the bar, I had the Lavoe martini which was excellent. We started with the guacamole and fried Tostones. We also tried the ceviche which to be honest, had more vegetables than seafood, but still tasty. The calamari Frito was very good. The dipping sauce was OK. Shout out to the live salsa band they were great! The place is small but has a lot of potential. The menu prices are good and there's so many amazing entrées to so I'll definitely be going back.

Yelp
The service was spot on. Atmosphere was very welcoming. The drinks were great, and the food was delicious. Was skeptical before going there, but after our meal, will definitely be back. A gem and great addition to our neighborhood. Keep up the great work.

Yelp
Came here with the family for a birthday celebration. This is my second time here. Staff is amazing. There's nothing but great vibes here. Music is good and food is absolutely delicious. There is a variety of amazing dishes to choose from. I heard they offering an amazing brunch options as well. Love this place!

Joe P.

Yelp
Three of us got the bandeja paisa The fourth got a Cuban sandwich. Everything was fantastic. We had red and white sangria. Also had crème brûlée and Tres Leche. Everything was outstanding. Can't wait to go back.

Aurea G.

Yelp
I came here with my family for my dad, 70th birthday. Great music, clean environment, beautiful decor and the staff were friendly and attentive. My lychee martini was excellent, the food was just okay but I'm willing to go it another try.

Yelp
Puertas took over Xin, and what can you say when one takes over a home and keeps the decor but the vibe is very different. When I thought of a different place to eat locally I wanted to try Puertas. I can honestly say the ghost of Xin has vanished. Xin opened @10 years ago and was the first slightly upscale Chinese restaurant in Bay Ridge. Unfortunately, it declined over the years and now the " door" was opened for Puertas. Puertas offers numerous options for Latin cuisine but the menu is not overwhelming. One can start with ceviche or calamari fritters for appetizers and then opt for traditional Latin cuisine like Pernil,, Carne asada, Garlic shrimp to a simple burger. My friend and I shared the House Special salad which was very good: avocados, tomatoes, red onions, cilantro and greens in a light vinaigrette. Smashing! We sipped our cocktails: Margherita for myself ( delicious) and an Espresso Martini for my friend. The live band at this point started jamming and singing Cuban songs. " Bessame Mucho" Then our main entrees arrived: my friend ordered Ropa Vieja, shredded flank steak in an onion red sauce with rice and maduros. She liked it didn't love it. I absolutely loved the Pollo Guisafo: the braised chicken stew with potatoes, carrots, olives in a tomato broth served with white rice. The chicken was tender and the broth very flavorful. It was absolutely delicious and the portion generous thus I took half home. A side of tostones was also served and they were tasty but missing some salsa verde to dip in. The music at this point was extremely loud thus we both ordered another round of Margaritas. It's amazing how alcohol can numb the ringing in your ears. To top off the night we ordered the Coconut Flan to share. It could have been renamed Flan cheesecake due to the density. It wasn't a traditional flan, sauce was underneath. Let's call it an upside down flan! The service was exemplary and on point. Our waitress checked on us a few times and that is appreciated ( water, extra napkins, drink order etc). The only disconnect is the band, yes live music is appreciated. However, one should be told that if seated in the back the band will be right there. I made reservations online and didn't see options for seating. It's difficult to have a conversation when music is blaring. I can definitely recommend Puertas but will be sure to inquire about seating next time. Now, all I hear in my head is "Guantanamera" I need another Margarita....

Danny G.

Yelp
Service was slow when we were the only other couple in the place. The food was ok, not too tasty. But the shrimp ceviche is a Full rip off. It's $19 and they take one single shrimp and cut it into pieces. Over priced for no reason. I'll not be recommending this place to anyone. Much better Spanish food all over Sunset park. If you don't believe me. Go here and order the Ceviche.

Mike O.

Yelp
First things first... the ambiance is amazing! Great looking restaurant, service was good and place was clean. Now on to the food..... My rice was not cooked well and my pork chops were way too well done. My wife's chicken in the pollo guisado was just boiled with no flavor. The desert was nothing to write home about either. The tres leche had an after taste that just wasn't good. Highly doubt I will try them again which is a shame because we are always looking for good Spanish food in the area

Toni C.

Yelp
Today I celebrated my birthday with friends and had the best experience! The food was delicious and my mocktail mango mojito was soooo good-thank you Kelvin. Gustavo and Kevin were friendly, knowledgeable and funny! When our desserts arrived with fireworks and singing it took the ambiance to another level. Can't wait to return!

Doreen G.

Yelp
The decor of this place really looked good. The ambiance was welcoming. I had one of the best Coquitos I ever tasted. My waitress/bar tender name was Bella and made all my drinks and and she was so sweet and attentive. If you come here..ask for Bella! I ordered the oysters and omg! The oysters were so good I ordered them twice. They served the oysters with a chimichurri sauce aswell as cocktail sauce! Bella also made a tasty Henny colada! I mostly definitely be back!

Daisy V.

Yelp
Food amazing good vibes good energy, very attentive customer service, came here to celebrate a birthday loved the live salsa band

Yelp
I've wanted to try and support Puertas because Latin food in Bay Ridge is exciting and I'm Hispanic after all. The appetizer was delicious but priced too high, the entrees were just ok but again nothing warranted the high price to me. I'm not one to get sticker shock. I love going out and treating myself. But I can't rationalize these prices. Our total bill for two entrees and one app was about $135. Doesn't sound out of the ordinary but you aren't getting tons of food here (I did buy two drinks, but that's still high for the area). There are much smarter ways to spend that much money. Their drinks were on point. Absolutely delicious Coquito, and my friend got a blackberry Coquito that was yummy. Major points. For food, we started with the guacamole & tostones appetizers. It was delicious. Not alot of food which surprised me. But the price for an appetizer in this area seemed off. The taste was definitely good, I would eat it again. For my entree, I ordered the chimichurri steak which comes with mashed potatoes under the steak and crispy shoestring fries on top, and my friend ordered steak lomo saltado which comes with tomatoes, onions, and rice. My steak barely had chimichurri on it. It's pretty customary for steak to really have a healthy serving of that sauce. I asked for extra and the very sweet waitress got me some. It also just wasn't very flavorful. I added a ton of salt to my entree. My friend liked his food, which I tasted and again I was underwhelmed. I also asked for well done any steak was bloody. I ate it anyway because I don't like sending food back. I love supporting bay ridge business and I know everything cost more today. But it makes coming back unlikely. If I did though, I would only order appetizers as my meal. I could see myself trying their other apps with a group and sharing. And the Latin music did make me happy. I just think slightly lower pricing would make me more likely to revisit.

Yelp
If I could rate it 0 I would. The restaurant was completely empty except for one birthday party of six people. My small party of 3 waited 40+ minutes for our food and three workers who were working didn't come by once to ask if we needed any water or another drink or anything. Everyone kept walking by us without checking in or anything. Then we stood up and put on our coats standing at the bar waiting to talk to someone, and STILL no one acknowledged us! Every person working, all three walked around us the entire time. They also overcharged us. Ridiculous, I'll never come back again.

Jeniece R.

Yelp
Loved this place! Came for dinner on a weekday after work. The service was amazing from start to finish. The ambiance in the restaurant was really beautiful and elegant. Now.. the food. We ordered the carne asada and the tostones with guacamole and everything was delicious!! Also loved the rice with gandules. Drinks were also really good. This is a great date night spot and also great if you just want some good food. Def want to return soon!

Tee G.

Yelp
Group of 10 enjoyed our meals and drinks. Waitress was attentive and music was good. The place is too small, no space to dance and the Cuban sandwich was not toasted / hot press. It's not an authentic sandwich and that was disappointing. Nonetheless this is a nice restaurant.

George G.

Yelp
Great vibe and full of Puerto Rico spirit and vibe loud and bold like our beautiful island. The service was great. But the FLAN was the star

Gloria N.

Yelp
We have found our new -Go To - In Bay Ridge where we all have so many choices we know this is where we want to be ! Owners - Staff - everyone- everything From decor to the vibe - AWESOME!

Christina V.

Yelp
I do highly recommend this place as there is nothing else like this in the neighborhood. Mixed Latin American cuisine from a few different countries. ( not just Mexican like the rest of bay ridge) We sat outside with our dog and service was great. We heard that on some nights they have live Latin music which sounded like fun. Inside was very nice and they seemed busy. Our cocktails were great. I had a spicy mango cocktail which I highly recommended , not too sweet and not too spicy. For appetizers we had the ceviche which was amazing. Going back for this for sure. The empanadas were okay , I would have preferred the traditional versions. Entre of chicharrón wow ! So delicious. We got them with the yuca fries. Loved them. Can't wait to try the rest of their entres.

Mariely A.

Yelp
I came here for lunch and waited for my food as if they were killing the chicken in the back. When the food came the chicken smelled

Jacque M.

Yelp
Wow wow wow, what a gem! The fried pork dish and sangria are everything! They have live music in certain Saturdays. The service is also good! We have made this our local to go spot.

Deana C.

Yelp
I'm am so thankful we finally have a great Latin restaurant in Bay Ridge. We started with the shrimp empanadas which were not only super cute but delicious as well. My mojito was huge and perfect. I should've taken pictures of our dinner as well but everything was so good we dove right in. I had the salmon and it was over a bed of puréed avocado, corn, sweet potatoes and caramelized onions. I cleaned my plate, couldn't get enough. My husband had the skirt steak over mashed potatoes and it was equally delicious. He also had a red sangria with his meal. For desert we got the arroz con leche donuts and Dulce de leche cake. I can't explain how out of this world the donuts are. We ordered some to go because I needed to bring some home for my mom to taste. Our waitress, Rachel, was super sweet and attentive. We can't wait to go back.

Victoria C.

Yelp
Service is attentive. Food is not too salty and delicious! Love their empanadas and pollo guisado. Super tender, flavorful, and filling. Love going here for dinner every time!

Jenny L.

Yelp
My friends and I hit this spot around my birthday during the Summer Stroll. The place was packed so we hung out outside to dance to the salsa music. They had an awesome salsa band playing outside. My girlfriends bought me a margarita and a mofongo. The drink was very strong! The food was amazing. There were lines for the food and drink but service was moving well. It was a great night of fun, food and music.

Maya T.

Yelp
Puertas is a Latin bistro with a fusion of Puerto Rican, Colombian & Peruvian cuisine. I've been there twice so far and everything from the service to the drinks has been amazing. The guacamole, tostones, and arroz con pollo were really good. The yucca fries come with the best dipping sauce. For desserts: flan was delicious and these little donuts (cant remember what they were called) were also yummy. We weren't a fan of the tres leches but I'm not taking off any stars because it said dairy free on the menu so we knew we weren't getting the authentic version. It wasn't bad, it just wasn't tres leches, but that's OK. The drinks are phenomenal. We had pitchers of frozen margaritas and mixed cocktails all evening. The restaurant gave us mixed mezcal shots (on the house) and those were pretty damn good too. Literally just to thank mom's for all that they do (ugly tears/happy cry). What truly sets Puertas apart is the unparalleled service provided by their attentive and friendly staff. Both times I've been there people were so friendly and accomodating. They were enthusiastic to host me and my friends (all toddler mom's in the area) and made our mom's night out really special. It felt like we were at my tia's house and she wanted to make sure we were having a good time. There is no other way to describe the vibe than that they really make you feel welcome, like family. I'll be back - yet again - to sample the entrees. I'll update my review then but right now between the appetizers, the drinks, the desserts, the service, the ambiance and the music - this place is 5 stars, no doubt. I highly recommend it :)

Julie T.

Yelp
The restaurant is only open about a month and this was our first time here. I must say that I highly recommend it because the staff is amazing, the bar is very well-stocked & the food is not only delicious, but beautifully presented and the atmosphere is also very pleasant. Ceviche is some of the best I have ever had. And the flan! Amazing! They have some outdoor seating as well. The music is a bit loud, but it is authentic Spanish music, so you really feel like you're not in Brooklyn, but in Puerto Rico or in South America. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

Larry M.

Yelp
The place is really decorated nicely and the music was great. Latín Jazz was amazing. Food was great, authentic, and filling. But the service tied it all together. Great place! Make sure to visit this place!!!

Nicole P.

Yelp
I went here for Sunday brunch with my sister and we had an overall good time. The staff was really nice and welcoming, they kept asking if we needed anything; attended very well. The drinks were good we had a few mimosas nothing crazy. Our appetizer which consisted of the guacamole was my favorite dish. My only complaint is in between our appetizers and entrees the food took really LONG to be served and it was not really that busy for a Sunday afternoon. We had gone through like two drinks in between this. I was disappointed with my main course as well I had gotten the arepas with salmon and honestly did not like it. My sister enjoyed her dish which consisted of steak , rice and eggs. I would go back but would not order the same thing again. I was happy with the addition of a Latin cuisine in Bay Ridge will try again..

Ce C.

Yelp
Have been here twice and I have to say this is a nice addition to the neighborhood. It is nice to see something other than Italian or Mexican opening up. Finally some Latin fusion. I love that it's not just one kind of Latin food but a fusion of many. First time we had the causa de pollo with corn and it's delicious. Very different very tasty. We also had the salmon and the branzino. Must give a heads up if you're not used to getting fish with bone don't get the branzino. Despite the fact that it had the bones the fish was yummy. The Salmon was cooked very well and although we came on a Tuesday night when most restaurants don't put out their best not here not at Puertas. I have to say the salmon was just delicious. The cook on it was great it was very moist and the corn and sweet potato it came with was a nice complement. Also tried two drinks which were good. Went a second time with family who are also picky eater and we tried the shrimp empanadas and they were good. Very different but delicious. Yes they are on the small side but it is just an appetizer and not some food truck. Has the causa for the second time and it tasted just as good as the first. The cazuela was also very tasty. They also make good piña coladas. The only thing we didn't really enjoy was the ceviche. The staff is very attentive and welcoming. Wish you guys the best and hope the neighborhood welcomes you and gives you guys a chance.

Melissa M.

Yelp
The restaurant is beautiful and the brunch I had there was very tasty. The service that day was also exceptional. This is what made me decide to take a chance and host my birthday celebration there and unfortunately I was disappointed and regretted choosing this spot. It is not equipped for events. You would think with notice that a large group was coming and the amount being charged per person that they would have more staff dedicated to your table. It felt like we kept having to beg for the simple things and didn't always get it and after a while we just gave up bc you're stuck there and need to just enjoy your evening. Here are some issues: I added the soda tea and coffee add on and they only brought one pitcher for 18 people. Patiently waited but then had to ask for more pitchers and even cups to pour it in. Who gives pitchers with no cups? It seemed like such a big request. Also the kids were not given any water and my daughter kept complaining that she was thirsty. Asked 3 times. Had to complain to the manager to get water for my children. Like really? We were never offered any tea or coffee so probably shouldn't have chosen that add on. A waste. Also never came around to refill our glasses of water. Had to also ask for that which in many other restaurants is normally done without prompting. I had four children as part of the group and the kid pre fixe came with a choice of juice which I asked for and didn't receive. The kid meal also came out after the adult meals which was odd. Normally children's food comes out first. Another issue was that the birthday cake I brought was chocolate and when the servers brought the pre fix dessert out after the cake they didn't offer new plates or serving spoons for the family style dessert. We paid extra for the cake cutting. Can't get plates for the dessert that was part of the pre fix? At that point service was so slow and it was getting late that we wanted to finish up the meal. Think because the gratuity is automatically added that they didn't bother to give the service that I received during my brunch visit. I really hate writing this review bc I want a Latino restaurant to exist and succeed in the neighborhood but felt like my birthday didn't go the way I had wanted. I had to pay a lot of attention to the service. This is not a good place to host an event. You do not get what you pay for. Date night or a small party of 4 sure. The food is good. Loved the pollo guisado. Probably get excellent service too. That's why I gave 3 and not 1 star. Just avoid if an event. You've been warned. My last comment for this post is that the empanadas are not good. Not traditional. Do not recommend.

Heather M.

Yelp
I was just walking by Puertas at the 3rd Avenue stroll. I always want to try/support new businesses. I ordered 2 empanadas, I thought that would be a good thing to sample. Two empanadas totaled $8 seemed a little pricey. I was shocked to see how small they were. The dough was chewy and they reminded me of hot pockets

Ciera C.

Yelp
Amazing authentic Puerto Rican food. Great ambiance, fast service and hot quality food. Portions are huge. Pictured here is the pernil entree, the pollo guisado entree and a side of habichuelas. They also have unlimited mimosas for brunch on the weekends (12-4) but if you come closer to 4 you can order off of the dinner menu like we did. Definitely check this place out. Amazing!

Charlette P.

Yelp
Puerta's food is good. I had the chuleta kankan with Arroz and Gandules, which was very good. We had the guacamole; unfortunately, it wasn't a hit. It tasted like pure lemon. The service we experienced was good. The ambiance was good, and the decor was lovely. I am sure at night, it is a vibe The waiter was very attentive.

Ricardo R.

Yelp
Absolutely enjoyed our meal at Puertas. Apps were great, entrees were so delicious. I had the rib eye for one, while my wife had the skirt steak. Service and drinks were great as well. Great addition to Bay Ridge. Will definitely come back.

Junior R.

Yelp
Puertas, is an amazing Puerto Rican restaurant with authentic island tasting food. The great thing about Puertas is that it's located in the heart of Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. My first experience was on father's day and I wasn't disappointed at all, except that the establishment was new and the bar wasn't stocked as they awaited for the legal paperwork. Today, the place is in full swing and the staff along with the management team are in sync. Five stars all day every day.

Myra C.

Yelp
I visited Puertas a few weeks ago with 5 other family members. We had a wonderful time. the restaurant is lovely, the service excellent and the food was delicious. They had a latin jazz group playing that was professional. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Carmelo D.

Yelp
Excellent food and service , the guacamole with the tostones , is totally amazing . Great decor , and music , welcome to the Bay Ridge .

Les R.

Yelp
I was just walking down bay ridge with my partner and we came across this place. This place has good Spanish music and good food. I wasn't hungry at all but the guac is 10/10 and the drinks are even better. The staff is super friendly and I definitely f recommend it (:

Joannie S.

Yelp
Man, am I happy this place opened. Was exactly for a hispanic place that represents out culture; food, music, drinks, vibe.. but I wasn't exacting this. The food is fantastic!!!! So much so I found myself ordering food to go after just recently visited and planning to see them yet a third time on the same week!! If you knew me, you'd know that is not normal and completely unexpected of me. But it is that good.

Sean J.

Yelp
Me and my sister took my mom out for brunch on her birthday and wanted to try a new place out. THIS place was dynamic! Everything from the food to our waitress, Liz, was excellent! Their Coco Flan was delicious, and all the dntrees from the steak to the chicharron de Pollo was flavorful and savory. Felt like home cooking, along with its beautiful ambience. I'd recommend this place for brunch, lunch or dinner FOR SURE!

Nicole S.

Yelp
Delicious food, great ambiance and super friendly/helpful staff. We had the ceviche and guacamole to start. Both were delicious and unique. For our entree we shared the Bandeja Paisa - a lot of great food, especially the steak and chorizo. I already can't wait to eat here again! It's exactly what bay ridge needed.

W. M. L.

Yelp
I just had 2 of your so called empanadas. They were filled with mashed potato filler with very little meat or shrimp. They were TINY and you charged $4. for each. I won't be back.

Julie B.

Yelp
What a delicious Latin fusion. Beautiful restaurant, great vibe and service. Welcome to Bay Ridge!
