"With seven kids of their own, P’unk Burger owners Marlo and Jason Dilks opened their East Passyunk eatery with young families in mind. Kids get their own menu with classics like burgers and shakes, but with an organic spin. The cash-only BYOB also supports children’s charities throughout the year and has arcade games. "Philadelphia’s bread, cheese, and meat prowess is well established, and not just in the cheesesteak department. Philly’s hottest burger isn’t from a casual smashburger stand or an old-school tavern, but from a tasting menu spot that messes around with koji butter and firefly squid. The burger is only available as an add-on on Mondays, and it’s not too complicated—just as great burgers should be. Two beef patties with crispy edges and perfectly pink middles are topped with Cooper Sharp, pickled red onions, and a slathering of everything-seasoned mayonnaise, all between toasted sesame seed buns. "Even though you can create your own burger at this East Passyunk spot, you should go for one of their dozen specialty ones that get loaded with things like smoked gouda, double garlic bacon, or cusabi slaw. Our favorite of the bunch is the goat cheese and bacon jam burger because of the copious amount of meaty but sweet sauce that soaks right into a brioche bun making it a little juicier. It’s also topped with carmelized onions and chunks of creamy goat cheese that combine for a messy meal—which you won’t care at all about once you taste the peppery, sweet, and tangy mix." - Candis R.
