ATMOSPHERE: I was not expecting this place to be as Black as it was and I loved it lol. From the music to the food, there was soul in this place and we absolutely loved it. SERVICE: We had a very nice server who was very attentive to our needs and helped with recommendations. DRINKS: We were there for Sunday Brunch so of course we had to partake in mimosas. Unfortunately they didn’t have bottomless mimosas but they were $5 each which was not bad. They tasted great and had a good balance of juice and champagne. FOOD: WOW, I mean really wow. First of all I ordered the Chicken and Waffles and based of a presentation alone I would rate it 5 stars. You get so much chicken with one order it’s more than enough to share. The chicken was crispy and seasoned so well, the biscuit was soft and melted in your mouth. It was so amazing. My girlfriend got the burger with a side of grits, the grits were amazing. Buttery, seasoned well, and cheesy. My girlfriends mom got her shrimp and grits which was full of flavor. I wish I lived in Houston I would be here all the time but I’m happy I discovered it so I can come back whenever I visit again

Service was really and truly amazing! My server was very thoughtful and considerate and did thing without having being asked! The manager was completely down to earth and even got dirty and worked when they where busy. The service staff definitely left an everlasting impression on me!

HMMMMM!!! I've always made a point about being very honest in my reviews as I enjoy reading honest reviews. With that being said, I had been wanting to try out this restaurant so I invited 3 of my friends to join me today for a chance to catch up and have a Valentine's day dinner. Upon arrival we were greeted by a friendly staff. The waiter was very personable and ordering drinks and our meals were easy breezy! When our dinners arrived they looked delicious. I ordered the 3pc combo chicken dinner (thigh, leg and breast). As you can see from the picture, I ate the leg first. So that left me with 3 pieces on my plate. After consulting with my friends we determined one of the other 3 pieces was a thigh and maybe the other 2 pieces were the breast. Those 2 "breasts" looked sort of dried out. But the buttermilk biscuit was GOOD. I picked at the collard greens but they were too salty and mushy (a sign they were over cooked). One of my friends ordered a salad and black eyed peas. She said the peas were cooked in TOO much water and lacked any seasoning. After we concluded our meals, I asked the waiter for a to-go box and I placed the thigh in the box and closed it. The manager came over and said he noticed I only put one piece of my chicken in the box and how was the rest of my meal. I said "well, honestly it wasn't that good." And I explained why. He quickly offered to make an adjustment to my bill. I was appreciative of that. He also invited me to come back and try their salmon with lemon butter (it really sounded delicious as he described it) And then he suggested we also try their own homemade ice cream compliments of the restaurant. So we did and the oreo ice cream is too die for! I gave them 4 stars because the manager took the initiative to approach me and address my concerns and had he not I would have probably rated it 2 stars. If you are like me. I'm sure you can appreciate good customer service and I think that is what separates a good restaurant from a "meh" one. I'll be back to try the salmon! Give them a try.

Flavor: A Service: A Tea: A Solo dining: A I was glad I saved this place for my last night in Houston! I got the catfish and grits and loved every bite. It wasn't even too spicy for a heat wimp like me. The salad (especially the dressing) was also tasty. I splurged for the gooey cake bites for dessert and I can hardly imagine a more perfect ending to an all-around outstanding meal.

Great brunch place. Great food, good drinks, awesome staff! Our waiter Juan was awesome. Great convo. We were going to take my little one to the park after brunch but found that this place has an open area in this back. Pulled my daughters scooter out and we stayed an extra hour or 2. We will be returning.

What a cute place. The place was midly packed even then service was pretty quick. The waiter and hostess were very friendly. I loved their fried chicken! Will be back I want to try their potpies or their chicken fried steak! Oh also their Lemonade was perfect! Not too sweet not to sour. We also appreciated all the gospel music they were playing. I wonder if its a sunday thing? Or is this always the case. They offer Valet parking for a small fee which we will take advantage of next time because parking can be tricky.

The chicken fried steak was amazing the batter they use is something I've never tasted and the gravy goes so well with the chicken fried steak. Service was great and so were the loaded tater tots with ranch.

If it were not for the WELL trained staff and such a clean professional establishment I would not have stayed. The food is well presented but the flavor is just not there. This place is known for the fried chicken, but I'm unsure if I caught them on the wrong day but the chicken lacked flavor and price for a four peice chicken is OUTRAGEOUS. I'm sorry to say but to pay a ticket avarge of 40$ is crazy for some simple soul food. The cake balls or way to sweet, and the fried deviled eggs taste like fried relish. I made a meal from just the greens and sweet corn bread. The rest of that stuff you can keep. I do not recommend this place if you are looking for Soul Food, comfort food, or southern food. It's over priced and not worth the buy. Good luck to you if your try this place.
