NYC’s New Restaurant Openings

"NYC exports a lot of restaurants to Miami. Now it’s time to pay the piper. Pura Vida, a fancy bowl-smoothie-wrap chain, has come for Nomad. It’s the first of 10 planned locations in the city. Our Miami team has thoughts—but we'll have to check out this chain for ourselves." - will hartman

Pura Vida Miami is one of our favorite spot for great coffee, amazing salads and wraps as well as to, either spend time with friends, families or just people watching whether we are in New York or Miami. Today we had an amazing experience in the place located at the NYC NOMAD. We always order the Salmon wrap however, this time the menu had a variations to what we were accustomed to. Sara, team lead, was kind enough to accommodate changes to the food, to our liking. She went “Above & Beyond,” to create a seamless experience for us and our family. Kudos to Sara, keep up the great work. Thank you.

Google
I really enjoyed my late breakfast at Pura Vida Miami. I got me a nice sandwich, a cappuccino and some cookies. I took the cookies with me as soon as I plaid for my order and my cappuccino and sandwich were delivered some moments later. I feel that the time that I had to wait for them was adequate, it shows that they were prepared when I ordered them and they were still delivered quickly, everything was fresh. I was able to walk in and get a table but it might not always be the case. It got crowded pretty quickly after I went in, I may have been lucky.

1. choose menu while line up 2. order and pay with tips on cashier 3. Get any table 4. The server brings my order If I knew this system, It would be a more comfortable experience. Food taste is healthy. Their smoothies were so good. I don't like sweet, so I don't order smoothies normally. But theirs are not too sweet but delicious. Recommend!

Google
The inside is so beautiful and clean. The food is so cheap for the portions and it’s soooo fresh and healthy and good. I had the kale salad and I also got a coconut water drink with pineapple and it was so refreshing. I highly recommend this place. It’s also not too crowded and they bring out the food fast

Google
Oh my god this definitely live up to the hype. Yes, the food is expensive but the ambience is super nice and the food is a great size portion and super flavorful. I got the kale Caesar wrap but with salmon instead of chicken and it was so delicious. And even though the place was incredibly crowded when I went, the service was super friendly and efficient and everyone was getting their orders out to customers super quickly. Overall it was amazing and I can’t wait to go back!

Google
We had the salmon avocado bowl and it was honestly the best bowl I’ve ever had super delicious and super filling. You have to try it! We first discovered it in Miami, so we’re so happy it finally opened in New York! 🥑🐟💚

Google
I really like this place. I’ve been working nearby for over a year and often come here for breakfast and lunch. The food is always delicious, and all my friends have also gotten used to coming here. Thank you for the great service and tasty meals — and a special thanks to Camos.

Google
Delicious food with great portions and great service. Yuli was so great and helpful and attentive. Food is so fresh and tasty especially the drink section.

Yelp
Always a good experience! Kind staff. Great healthy food. Everyone should have Pura Vida!

Yelp
Second visit here. First was a Sunday for brunch. Was surprised by the line outside as I picked the location from the map and because it he name. Enjoyed a beef empanada and cortadito. Both were small but mightily delicious. Today, I'm enjoying the. Trkafatsvdandehich with turkey bacon and the seasonal strawberry matcha. The sandwich is huge & delicous, and will be my breakfast and lunch. The strawberry matcha is perfection. Not too sweet with perfect matcha balance. Every single person that works here is kind, attentive and makes sures to check in with every diner as they walk by. Today I sat inside and the vibe is clean, pretty and loving the AC. Yesterday I enjoyed a NY Sunday outside under an umbrella in their outside dining area. This is definitely a place I will return.

Yelp
Food was too expensive for the quality that you get. The portions seemed to be okay but with a fast casual sit down I would think that the prices would be a little lower Service was great and all the staff were super friendly. I came for a quick lunch break and while sitting was checked on multiple times

Yelp
Everything I've ever had on the menu has been fresh and delicious. love going to Pura Vida whenever I'm in Florida. So happy that I can get it at home in NYC now.

Yelp
I was really excited when one of my favorite places to get an Acai Bowl in Miami opened a location in the city, and in my neighborhood nonetheless. I met my friends here for brunch and ordered the egg wrap, which unfortunately I did not love. I'm not someone that needs a lot of extras (I eat plain eggs on toast all the time) but this wrap was just kind of blah and unappealing. Perhaps my mistake was not getting the Acai Bowl, which is what I always got in Miami. Would definitely come back to try that but probably not any more food items.

Yelp
One of my favorite spots in the city! It's a great place for a post-workout meal, lunch, brunch, or catching up with a friend. They also have plenty of outdoor seating. Highly recommend

Yelp
Great food and services pesto sandwich was great the salad was fresh I will be back soon

Yelp
Terrific salads, but it's best to order in advance via the app because there was always a long line here during lunch EVERY time I walked by for a week! Their salads and smoothies are terrific. I really liked their large menu of fresh, healthy, creative offerings, which makes it great for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. There is seating indoors, as well as lots of shaded seating outdoors, which I really liked. Great for people watching while you chow down, but you have to be quick to claim a table. My friend and I came at just the right time, so we snagged one. They really need to come up with a better order pickup system, however, because you have to wait indoors where it gets kind of crowded, and listen for your number, which you might miss. I recommend the restaurant start using those plastic buzzers instead.

Yelp
Great service and food! Food came very fast and was super fresh and flavorful. We started our meal with an immunity shot!

Yelp
Service is fast and friendly. Nothing compares to Pura Vida in Miami but this will do for a lil mental break from the crazy Manhattan life lol. Had the mango refresher sub coconut water and salmon avocado bowl. So good and fresh... every time, any location. Seating is a little compressed, but that is because I am comparing my experience to the original stores in miami. Love it either way.

Yelp
I ordered an avocado smash and welcome to Miami smoothie. Really exceptional. The toast was kinda small but I understand this is food for super models and Instagram folk. The service was great definitely a hint of southern hospitality rare for New York where it's very transactional in this city. The managers even gave conversation while I waited for my food. I ordered take out. I noticed the seating area was at capacity. I don't know the best time to go maybe during the week while the weekend warriors are at their desks and the phones are starving for influencer fuel

Yelp
Love the place! Got the egg sandwich, which came with an incredible bagel and a spicy sauce on the side that was amazing. Solid cortado as well. My partner got the salmon bowl which she loved. They had a solid smoothie as well. Sunday morning is Wild West - you have to stand around and fight a bit for tables, which was not ideal. But came back on a Monday and it was great. Vibe is quite nice as well.
google avatar

Eunseo C.

Yelp
Got the turkey egg wrap to go, and it was delicious. It had a lot of stuff inside and tasted hearty. The sweet potatoes and mushrooms worked so well with the savoriness of turkey and egg. They recently opened, and they were super busy, so don't trust the ETA on mobile order. It seemed like it was doable to dine in during late lunch hours on a saturday though
google avatar

Yelp
I had stayed nearby and stopped by to grab something for lunch! Got a salad, matcha, and a cookie. I ordered at the register, to dine in but it so happens that all the tables were full. They have outdoor tables, but it was extremely windy and about 40 degrees outside. There was a staff member in front greeting people at the door with a menu that told me they would let me know once a table opens up inside. They did not - the staff seemed too busy chatting with each other. Overall, I felt extremely out of place. The demographic during my visit looked predominantly white and I can't help but feel uncomfortable and unwelcomed. The staff were polite but not friendly. They were nice but did not feel genuine. It was one of those moments where I did not want to be there. With all the great reviews, this was a surprising experience. Maybe I pulled up on a wrong day or something.

Yelp
Best sandwiches and smoothies in the city! Alejo was super helpful in helping me find an open table during busy hours! Super organized, clean, and awesome ambiance!

Yelp
Incredible food and even better service. Thank you Carlos from Nomad location for checking in to make sure I was satisfied. As always, I'll definitely be returning to Pura Vida!

Yelp
The food here was honestly so fresh and delicious, with whole ingredients. Made me feel so full and satiated... I ordered via delivery and it was still fresh when it arrived! Tried three things from the menu: -Crunchy Veggie Wrap (4/5): really delicious vegan veggie bites (on the denser side from the chickpeas, but packed with flavor and texture)... definitely the start ingredient in the wrap, and the side of green tahini paired well! Also loved the crunchy fennel salad on the side. Wish there was a bit more texture from the avocado smash though (could barely taste it) and would have loved the option to have the wrap pressed! -Mango Salmon (4.5/5): to be honest, the salmon was cooked really well. The Pura Vida dressing was refreshing and delicious, and tomatoes were sweet and juicy. Really great salad... the combination of all the flavors in every bite made it very tasty! -Thai Almond Salad (4/5): very light and refreshing, the thai almond dressing was the star here... it is so light and has a bit of a spice kick to it. Salad could have used a bit more crunch factor and edamame/scallion though. Honestly, a great spot for a healthy satiating meal.

Yelp
We got the charred fruit toast, the New Yorker, and the Mediterranean salmon wrap. The New Yorker and the fruit toast were great. The salmon wrap was just ok. The atmosphere was nice, through there is a "new" paint smell in the tables outside. The main reason the rating is a 4 instead of 5 is the service. I ordered for pickup and then sat at the tables. The idea is that you can pick up the food and then grab an open table. It took 40 minutes for the food to be ready. More importantly, the servers could not figure out a system for the people who ordered ahead. First, they asked me to wait outside. Then another server told other people to go inside. Another server asked for my order number. That person went inside to check for my order every so often. After I noticed that some people who ordered ahead came back out with their orders, I went inside and found my order. I also heard another server ask whether they had shut down the online ordering system because of how overwhelmed they were. Ok so the place is "new" and very popular. Maybe that's why they are overwhelmed. Well, to be clear, it's been open for at least a couple of weeks and they still have not figured out a system that works. They seem to still be playing it "by ear," on the fly. They seem to have more servers figuring out what to do than people making food in the kitchen. Having more servers doesn't seem to help. Unless they get their act together quickly, it may be best to wait until the place is less popular so that they can better handle orders.

Yelp
Loved this place! It had a very summery vibe to it, with the outdoor seating and cool indoor decor. We waited for about 5-10 mins around 11:30 on a weekend but the line got very long by 12. I shared the two hyped up menus (tuna bowl, kale caesar wrap) with one other person and loved them! The kale wrap was so good, stuffed with chicken and cheese. It actually did not even need the sauce on the side! The tuna bowl was surprisingly hearty with big chunks of tuna and fresh avocado. We were so stuffed we could not finish everything! I will come back for their sandwiches!

Zoe' G.

Yelp
Simple but fresh. The tomatoes were ripe and sweet, paired nicely with creamy mozzarella and a drizzle of balsamic glaze. They used fresh basil leaves which made all the difference. A perfect starter before our pasta arrived.

Yelp
This place is a favorite in Miami, and it finally came to NYC! I attended their Grand Opening today (7/19) and there was already a line when I got here at 12:15. It went pretty fast, 10-15 min or so before reaching the front. The manager was so nice, running around to pass out menus and thanking us for waiting. We also got a free blue Pura Vida tote bag. The format of this place is you order at the front, and then find seating. It was super packed so we got our food to-go, but ended up snagging a table indoors. The inside is so cute, very white and beachy with cute pops of greenery. There's a fun elevated seating area in the back too by the bathrooms. The workers are super friendly and wear the cutest scrabble letter name tags. They also kept checking in to ask how the food was and if we needed anything. Okay for the food! I ordered the Perfect Egg Sandwich, which is a sourdough bagel with soft boiled egg, avocado, arugula, tomato, mozz, and a choice of sourdough bagel (plain, everything, sesame. I got it with the plain. I also got a Lulu's Lemons juice which I heard was someone else's favorite. The bagel sandwich was so delicious! The eggs were jammy and the arugula gave a nice bite. It came with Pura Vida sauce, which is tangy and delicious and really elevated the sandwich. The juice is also tasty with the chia seeds, and the bottle is so cute! My friend got the veggie omelette which came with smashed avocado and was very good as well. I did prefer my egg sandwich though. Overall I loved Pura Vida for their fresh and tasty food and drinks, super cute space, friendly service, and overall vibe. I can really see why it's a staple in Miami. I'm so happy I stopped by on their Grand Opening and wish them all the best with their New York venture!

Yelp
Carlos is the BEST. Ty for giving us great service as always my favorite vanilla oat latte + chocolate doughnuts + banana bread !!!

Marissa A.

Yelp
Sara was very kind and attentive, food was fresh and delicious and fast service thank you!
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing food and great service from staff. Unfortunately, every time I try to dine in is almost impossible. This must be addressed by the business, either build a 2nd floor with more tables or have the staff take care of the tables with a walk-in list, you don't need servers, people can order from the tables and maintain the same effective system. If you don't do anything you will see people fighting each other for tables and could get much worse... I was there for over an hour (wait time, dining, chatting) and there was a guy with a laptop not consuming taking over a whole table while there was still a lot of people waiting for a table.

Yelp
I've never been to Miami but always wanted to try Pura Vida if I ever found myself there. Happy to see they are opening multiple locations in NYC. The Nomad location is very spacious, though on my visit I ended up doing take out. I ordered the summer chicken bowl, subbing sweet potato for rice. Super filling with very fresh ingredients! I can't wait to return to try their coffee.

Hanna M.

Yelp
Excellent menu and healthy. Loved the service! Great choices and very interesting ingredients.

Yelp
Sara was great and went beyond with her service! She got us stuff even when we didn't need it!

Yelp
Great lunch spot! Food is fresh and delicious. This was my second time here. So glad they opened this place in NYC. They even are dog friendly! Love it

Yelp
Was visiting from out of state and decided to pick up breakfast on the way to work. Super easy to order online and pick up inside. The inside is so so cute and I wish I could've stayed and enjoyed my breakfast there. Latte was on point and the avocado toast was more than enough and delicious.
google avatar

Ashley W.

Yelp
I very much enjoyed this meal. My friend and I went for lunch here and we got the kale Caesar wrap, Cali chicken sandwich, matcha pistachio cookie and matcha latte. The matcha latte was a little too sweet but still good. The Cesar wrap was delicious, and very filling. My friend really enjoyed her Cali chicken sandwich and we shared the matcha cookie which I'd rate maybe at a 7.5/10- it was on the dryer side but still good, reminded me of a matcha muffin center. Overall we had a hearty lunch and felt full at the end of it. It is definitely on the more expensive side so definitely keep that in mind but I would recommend! Definitely a great spot for healthy/ filling meals.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Overall really loved this place. The ambiance is totally my vibe and the menu is a dream. Food seemed like good quality and had great flavors. Had some issues with service (waited over 20 minutes for my bowl while my friends on the same order came out within a few minutes). Would recommend nonetheless though!

Yelp
Similar to Carrot Express, Pura Vida Miami is an import from the Sunshine State. Located in the Nomad area which is bustling with all kinds of places to eat and shop. I was going to an appointment and needed perking up as my breakfast had not revived me. I passed this place, went in and ordered a Cortadito. Cortadito? Cortado's baby? Von made my coffee and I chatted with him and Cam who gave me the information I needed about this two-month new cafe. Not only does it have lots of Java drinks, it also has viennoiserie, salads and sandwiches. Tiny macarons that are gluten free looked colorful as one enters. Service is kind and friendly. Both indoor and outdoor seating is available.

Isabelle C.

Yelp
Consistently good food and attentive service. Great that they have order ahead pick up too. I like the salads, cookies and drinks
google avatar

Yelp
So excited to find a place that had so many fresh and healthy options. After finishing an intense work out I walked by this place and saw the tropical decor outside and the velvet ropes which drew me in right away! Super bright and clean upon the walk in ! The wait staff are super attentive and check in on you multiple times even just to see if you're waiting on anything ... it made me feel like I was in a fancy restaraunt ! The food was great and filling and great quality . I will deffy be back sooner than later
google avatar

Corinne K.

Yelp
Wanted to see what all the hype was about anddddd I don't get it Nothing was bad per se but everything was def not worth waiting in those long ass lines for (thankfully we went at an off-time and only waited like 10 min max). I got the Spicy Tuna Bowl which would have actually been decent if it hadn't been drowning in sauce. My husband, on the other hand, got the Pesto Chicken Sandwich and wished it was drowning in sauce lol he said it was way too dry. Two meh dishes that were def overpriced imo. I will say we did really like the Spinach + Cheese Empanada and the desserts though. Both the Matcha Pistachio Cookie and Nocciola Banana Bread were surprisingly delish.
google avatar

Maggie C.

Yelp
Amazing food and drinks with great ambiance and service! Was excited to learn that Pura Vida recently opened up their first NYC location, so my friend and I went for an early Saturday brunch around 11:30am. Even though there was a line, we were able to order and find a seat within 15 mins of arrival. Note that all seats are first come first serve, and you don't need to be seated by staff. We both got the kale chicken Caesar salad spinach wrap ($17.50 each) which was so delicious and filling! The portion was massive that we were full after eating half the wrap. The ingredients were very fresh even after eating leftovers after 2 days. Would be down to go back to try other items on their menu! Highly recommend :)

Ameena D.

Yelp
Had breakfast at Pura Vida today....here are my thoughts: Ambiance is beautiful. We sat outside since the weather was beautiful but tables are first come, first serve which is tricky during busy times (like today). But indoor seating seemed to be no problem. Service is friendly although food takes a while to come out. Food itself is good but portions are quite small. I paid $11 for an avocado toast and it was delicious but about 5 bites. The juices are larger though, and also tasty. Overall I'm glad Pura Vida is in NYC as I love their Miami locations as well. We'll definitely return.
google avatar

Sally V.

Yelp
Fast casual "healthy" food spot from Miami. We came around 12 on a Saturday and waited about 20 minutes in line, and another 15-20 to get our food. The wraps were about $18 each. I enjoyed the kale chicken caesar wrap, although I felt the chicken would have been dry if not for the sauce it was served with. The salmon wrap was okay, it tasted a little bland to me.
google avatar

Clara S.

Yelp
I ordered the mango salmon bowl to go, so I can't comment much on service or ambiance. The mango salmon bowl, however, was fantastic! Loved the sauce, the salmon was cooked pretty well, and loved how big the portion size was. I'll definitely be back to try out other dishes!
google avatar

Dianne S.

Yelp
The space makes you look twice. Pura Vida Miami occupies a location that serves it well. The food and staff behavior warrant highest marks. The service was definitely A+. The employees are helpful, the spot maintains cleanliness and I intend to come back.

Juan A.

Yelp
Great food. Healthy. Well-priced. And the staff is super pleasant. There's sometimes a wait. But it's worthwhile.
google avatar

Megan H.

Yelp
Loved how quick the line went for pura vida and that you order then find your own table. It was so cute and the service was great! The iced banana latte was delicious, the food however was disappointing, especially for the price. The super hyped kale Ceasar wrap was super dry and the salmon bowl was too salty and saucey. The salmon sandwich was good but nothing special. I liked how the matcha cookie had very strong matcha taste and not too sweet!
google avatar

Elaine C.

Yelp
So happy this Miami staple is finally in NY. Such good and healthy food that can't be beat. Their drinks are always so delicious too. Wish they had their specialty drinks here but that's ok. Will be back to eat for sure. Service was fair given it's first day. The food took awhile to come to us. Love love looove the decor! So aesthetic and vibey. A lil bit of Miami flavor in NY.

Rayna D.

Yelp
I was so looking forward to trying this place. Has a great menu, vegan options. I got a veggie wrap ($20 for a veggie wrap without sweet potatoes was a little high even for the area!). It was delicious but I got the THE WORST food poisoning shortly after eating. I think the sprouts were contaminated. 2 days later still suffering..

Yelp
I have never been to Miami, but my native Californian analogy is that Pura Vida is giving major Malibu vibes. Between its hanging rattan lights and menu filled with healthy bowl / juice / wrap options, you might as well be eating in a swimsuit. You can either order ahead or order at the counter. If ordering live, you will be given a numbered block to take to your table so your server can find you with your order. Inside, there are a couple of tables and a communal tiered seating set-up in the back and (during the summer at least) bountiful outdoor umbrella-ed seating. Both operate under first come first swoop. I paid a visit peak lunch hour (12:30 PM) on a Monday, thinking that I would beat a crowd on a work day. Unfortunately I was forgetting that this is prime Penn Station/ Flat Iron and so there are a number of people out on their lunch hours. The line outside the door seemed intimidating, but I was able to order within 15 minutes and I was lucky enough to find a seat outside. I ordered a cold brew with oat milk ($5.95) and a summer chicken bowl ($19.95)- sliced chicken breast atop jasmine rice, with arugula greens, avocado and a pineapple/sweet bell pepper salad, all dressed with a very addictive spicy soy ginger sauce. Was the bowl delicious? - yes However, I will be the first to admit this was very pricey for what was in the bowl. Because I cannot afford to dine here on even a weekly basis, I would probably opt for the other health-conscious eateries in the area. If you do not mind the inflated costs, Pura Vida sets itself aside by offering an all day breakfast menu with brekkie sandwiches/wraps/overnight oats, wraps, and plenty of superfood smoothies. Come and pay for the vibes, but also enjoy fresh, healthy, yet flavorful food!

Yelp
Great smoothie and blueberry muffin Juan was super attentive and gave great service. Look forward to coming back

Yelp
Sara's service was great! She was very kind, informative & answered any and all questions we had!

Jade H.

Yelp
Absolutely obsessed with Pura Vida and so glad they brought this to NYC. Fresh and quality food EVERY time. Really love the avocado salmon bowl! Clean, well managed, and delicious meals. Worth the price and the wait. Also appreciate the service, quick and reliable.

Jill G.

Yelp
First time visiting this cute little breakfast spot, but has much more than breakfast! Love the vibe here in the service is even better! Will be back on our short visit to NYC!
