"Though there’s no shortage of great Indian food in the South Bay, Puranpoli is one of the only spots that serves vegetarian Maharashtrian food from the western part of India. The family-owned restaurant first opened in March 2020 but has proven its resilience over the years. Customers tend to gravitate toward the misal pav, a spicy curry made from sprouts and mat beans, and the vada pav, a deep-fried spiced potato ball inside a bread bun. Fittingly, guests also frequently order the Maharashtrian delicacy puranpoli, which is a sweet flatbread with a jaggery and lentil filling. The Maharashtrian dessert modak is notably served year-round." - Cathy Park, Paolo Bicchieri

"Set in an office park complex with an innocuous storefront, Puranpoli delivers flavorful and robust eats from Western India. Two siblings, Roshan and Sheetal, bring the best flavors of heartwarming Maharashtrian comfort foods for an unforgettable feast. As a vegetarian restaurant, Puranpoli offers plenty of choices for diners with dietary restrictions. Plan to include bharli vangi, or stuffed baby eggplants in a rich tamarind-peanut sauce; zunka-bhakar, a classic pairing of rice flour bread with an entree of seasoned steamed chickpea flour; modak, traditional rice dumplings filled with a jaggery-coconut stuffing; and of course, puranpoli, a griddle-fried, stuffed sweet bread. Pick up a side of thecha, a condiment that can perk up any meal. Takeout only." - Nandita Godbole

I had a very disappointing experience with the puranpoli I tried today. It was neither fresh nor tasty. The dough was dry, and the filling was too sweet just like sugar and flavor .It felt stale, and the texture was off. Overall, it was a very underwhelming meal, and I won’t be ordering this again. Really sad to say, but it was a bad experience today.

Great food. Very good missal. Pav bhaji was also very good and tasty. Was not doused in butter like how other restaurants usually make it, so it was very good. Kadai paneer was also very good. The sukka aloo subzi seemed a little bland to my taste. The highlight was the puranpoli. Very soft and with the right amount of sweetness, wasn’t too sweet. We went there for thali but there wasn’t thali available on weekends. It’s available only from wed-Friday

I visited this restaurant and tried their Vada Pav and Samosa Pav – both were fresh and absolutely delicious! I also had the Puran Poli, which was soft, fresh, and perfectly authentic in taste – a real treat! However, I wouldn't recommend the Ginger Tea; it didn’t quite hit the mark for me. The Vada Pav had the perfect balance of spiciness and crunch, making it one of the best I've had in a long time. The Samosa Pav was equally impressive, with a crispy exterior and a well-seasoned filling that was incredibly satisfying. The Puran Poli was warm and flavorful, with a sweet filling that tasted just like homemade. The restaurant's ambiance was cozy and inviting, making it a great spot for a quick bite or a relaxed meal. The service was friendly and efficient, ensuring that our food arrived promptly and with a smile. Prices were reasonable, making it a great value for the quality of food we enjoyed. The cleanliness of the space was also commendable, adding to the overall positive experience. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more dishes, but I might skip the tea next time.

Stopped by for lunch on a Saturday and we were able to grab a seat right away! I had been craving pav bhaji, and Puranpoli definitely satisfied me. We ordered a few different things: Kokam Sarbat (4.5/5): Sweet, tart, salty! Vada Pav (5/5): Could have been spicier, but overall very good. Pav Bhaji (5/5): Both my and my partner’s favourite. I could’ve used a bit more spice, but the flavours made up for it. Palak Paneer (4.5/5): We asked for this to be made spicy, and it ended up being a great spice level. I think I would prefer if it was a bit less creamy, but still much better than most palak paneer I’ve had. I enjoyed that it wasn’t just one homogenous paste. Garlic Naan (3/5): Naan was okay. Very fluffy, but maybe should’ve opted for chapati instead. Gulab Jamun (5/5): Delicious! Overall, we loved it. Will absolutely return to try the misal pav, sukhi batata bhaji, bharli vangi, and solkadhi.

Omg the food here is like home cooking. I walked away with a very happy and full belly. Food is so tasty, light and fresh. Love this place. Totally recommend this to all my friends and family.

Google
I went here with high expectations. Though, they were not met, not all items were below my expectations. We ordered Puran Poli, Ukadiche Modak, Vada Misal, Vada Paav, Bharli Wangi and Tandlachi Bhakri. Puran Poli was decent. I expected it to be great. Sadly, it wasn't. Vada Paav & Vada Misal were great. Bharli Wangi & the Tandlachi Bhakri were the real highlights. Definitely will go back for these.

Newly opened, serving Maharashtrian cuisine. Vada pao and pav bhaji are good. Tried hakka noddles and chilli chicken today, they were nice, hot and fresh.

Google
Visited this place with my husband during our San Jose trip to satisfy his ethnic food craving from regional India. This place brings the taste close to home. I can say based on the Puranpoli that I ate. You can’t find better puranpoli anywhere in USA. We ordered kothimbir wadi, sabudana khichadi and paav bhaji along with puranpoli. Khichadi was bit dry and bland. Everything else tasted good and fresh. Our taste buds were satisfied and we were full else would have ordered more food. Service is but slow and place is not fancy but it truly stands for its authentic taste and food.

Yelp
Very belated review, but this place is amazing! The employee that helped me was very kind and hospitable, and the food was honestly some of the best Indian food I've ever tried. Definitely one of my new favorite spots! The ambience was very chill, definitely somewhere to come with family or friends!

Yelp
Best aamras in the Bay Area! Hands down outstanding food. We ordered pav bhaji with extra pav, chapati and kadai paneer, and aamras. Nothing to complain. Just great food, great service, prompt seating, and great price point. Bring cash for a 10% discount! And whatever they have going, the music playlist here just rocks!

Yelp
Im reviewing this place after a few months of eating here. I don't expect anything to have changed since then. This is a vegetarian restaurant and is almost like quick serve place. Especially if you opt for the thali. We went there with friends and arrived around noon, the place was just getting full and so they took our order and served quickly. No complaints about the thali, it was spot on and we enjoyed it thoroughly. Folks please don't do take outs of thali as the thali has to be eaten on a thali that is designed for that purpose. Also it is environmentally better and you also have a change of place to eat your meal. Will come back again with my family. Definitely one of the spots to go when you are confused on where to go.

Tannu S.

Yelp
Good food, honest service with causal indoor and outdoor sitting areas. We chose to sit outside because the weather was nice. We ordered, vada pav, samosa pav, palak paneer, kadhai paneer, naan, garlic naan, and tawa roti with Puranpoli. The food arrived in time and was delicious. I specially loved the kadhai paneer, vada pav and puranpoli there. I would recommend them for good flavors and melt in the mouth filling of puranpoli.

Pranathi B.

Yelp
We got pav bhaji, vada pav, samosa pav, palak paneer and garlic naans on our recent visit. Happy to report that they have steel utensils now. Pav bhaji was amazing. The bhaji was not too spicy, the combination with the buttered pav was heavenly. Loved it! I think it's easily one of the better if not best pav bhaji in town. Rest of the items were super disappointing though. The potato in the vada pav felt heavy and underflavored, the green chutney fell flat. The paneer in palak paneer was hard, the butter naans were brittle. The samosa was delicious but the combination with the pav felt odd and forced.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for dinner during the week. It wasn't too busy when we arrived, so we were able to grab a table quickly. It was unclear to us that you order at the counter when we sat down, but we figured it out. Food: The entire menu is vegetarian. Some items are vegan or can be made vegan. My friend and I ordered the following to share: Sabudana Vada - These were good! The sauce provided was okay though. Samosas - As expected and delicious. Masala Fries - These were pretty good. I would order again. Bharli Vangi - The eggplant was cooked very well. This was spicy and decadent. Kadai Paneer - It tasted familiar with the tomato base, and it was delicious. It would be my go-to here. Service: Service was a little confusing at the beginning. It was unclear that it was order at the counter type place. Once ordered, our food came out as they were ready. We didn't interact with the staff too much. TL;DR - great vegetarian Indian restaurant where it's "fast casual" of ordering at the counter & the food is brought to your table.

Yelp
Got take-out on a Friday evening and it was ready before the 40 min estimated wait time. Parking is in a private lot for Puranpoli only. It was pretty crowded inside. I got the puranpoli, vada pav, and pav bhaji. My favorite was the vada pav! The potato ball was so flavorful with great texture. Pav bhaji was very flavorful too. It went well with the sweet bread. Quite heavy after a while though. Puranpoli was a nice sweet treat, although I do wish I had this dining in so it'd be fresh and warm. It was still good though! Not sure if I'd go out of my way to come back, but would be open to it if it were an option nearby in the future.

Yelp
A popular Indian restaurant in south bay that is known to serve some delicious Maharashtrian food. One of the pros of this restaurant is their consistency in the taste and quality of the dishes. All the dishes that I tried were equally good. I had the kothambir vadi, saboodana vada, misal pav and puranpoli for dessert. In the past when I visited this restaurant I had tried their entree called zunka which was flavorful too. The service is pretty quick and you need to order the food at the cashier desk and they bring your food to the table when it is ready. They have plenty of parking in the complex.

Shri I.

Yelp
Nice Maharashtrian restaurant. Their vada paav, paav bhaji, thaali are are all stellar. Nice little shack and decor. Will def visit several times. Dining room is very colorful. Bombay biryani was okay, but bharli vangi was excellent.

Sudatta J.

Yelp
This place serves some flavorful Maharashtrian (west coast of India) cuisine. Vada pao is one of my favorite go to order along with the Kokam juice. Service is fast and friendly. Food is made fresh to order. Don't think the puranpoli is made fresh since it is dry and soggy (probably heated in microwave?) but if they did, that would be amazing! Ambience is clean and they have both indoor and outdoor seating.

Vania B.

Yelp
Came on a weekday for lunch and enjoyed the food! Ordered the makai palak (spinach curry) and kadai paneer (cheese and gravy). Both were flavorful and had the right amount of spice (both in terms of spices and heat level). Love that everything here is vegetarian and tastes amazing! Order at the counter in the back then sit down. Service was quick, and staff were friendly. There is a small parking lot right in front. Not sure if there's more in the back.

Meeta A.

Yelp
If you are craving for food from Maharashtra, this is your place. I went in during lunch time on a weekday and it was really crowded as there are many corporates nearby and employees come for lunch regularly. I ordered a Misal Pava and a Pav Bhaji. Misal Pav comes with onions and the mixture that you put on top of the curry and 2 Pavs. It was delicious. If you see that its a little oily, note thats how a traditional dish is. Pav bhaji was again not like Mumbai but still great when compared to other places in Bay Area. They put a lot of spices which as soon as you eat causes burning sensation in your throat. That is now how it should be, i can vouch for the pav bhaji here. Dont expect mumbai style but definitely better than other places. You can get a discount if you pay in cash. Overall great spot! Will try again for other dishes.

Yelp
I recently tried the Puranpoli Restaurant in Santa Clara and it was a delightful experience. The Puranpoli was perfectly cooked, with a deliciously sweet filling that was balanced beautifully with the soft, thin outer layer. It was served warm, which enhanced the flavors even more. Each bite was a delightful blend of textures and flavors, and it truly felt like a taste of tradition. I highly recommend Puranpoli , it's a must-try for anyone looking to experience authentic Indian cuisine.

Kumar V.

Yelp
Went here after recommendations from a friend. This is one of 4+ restaurants. Not really blown away from the food here but given the price point they offer these food, I would tilt towards a 5 star. The Misil Pav was good. I liked the Pav Bhaji too. However for me the biggest win was finding a kokam sharbat. It was after many years I was trying it and thoroughly loved it. Ambience is okay, service and staff are friendly.

Sushant S.

Yelp
Amazing food and service. Everything on the menu is authentic and delicious. Highly recommend. My personal favorite is Misal Pav and their Puran Poli.

Yelp
This place is super close to my job, and I've driven by here so many times and today decided to finally come for lunch with the family. We all got the Lunch Thali, which is a combination of different entree's and rice and nibbles. The entree choices come already set by the restaurant so you don't have to worry about what to choose. There was a crispy bread which literally was the most delicious crispy bread I've ever tried! The Sabudana Vada was unlike anything I've ever had before, a neat looking fried ball, with savory spices and tapioca balls! I thought it was dessert so I ate it last! LOL There was Kadai Paneer, Kabuli Chana Masala, Sukhi Batata Bhaji, and a couple more things. It was pricey at $22 per person, but there was a lot there and I was very full at the end of it. My daughter could only eat half. A mango pulp, Aamras, was the dessert. Best of all, I loved the spice level!! It was the most perfect level of spice for me, not too crazy spicy, not too bland. Just the right amount. Super interesting food, lots of unique flavors and textures. I told my husband, I did not miss the meat at all, I could very easily be vegetarian if I got to eat like this every day

Yelp
We decided to have Indian food delivered for my team's lunch, and I found Puranpoli, which is just a few miles away. Overall, everyone liked the food. First, I tried ordering online through Yelp, but the credit card couldn't be processed, so I called them. They said to order through DoorDash. Oh, ok. So don't try ordering through Yelp. I ordered a variety so that we can enjoy family style. I ordered two servings of each: Palak Paneer, Kadai Paneer, Bharli Vangi, Dal soup, and assorted Naan bread. Each serving is 16 oz. and I ordered two of each, and it was more than enough for the eight of us. I liked the hint of spices and the level of heat each dish had. Though the Dal was delicious, it was a bit too salty for my taste. The delivery service was great, very friendly. We will definitely have them again.

Gamini G.

Yelp
While visiting south bay, I wanted to try some traditional Indian food. After extensive research, I narrowed down on Puranpoli. We got the ginger chai with sabutdana vada. The chai was perfectly made. It had the right balance of sweetness and ginger flavor. The vada plate had two pieces and they were not too oily. It came with a side of chutney. The vada tasted very authentic and went well with the chutney. We also got the pav bhajji (with amul cheese). I was initially skeptical about the quantity, but the dish in itself was heavy and adequate. The bhajji was yummy! I also ordered garlic naan with kadai paneer. The naan was cooked perfectly and the paneer was seasoned well. Everything was delicious! They also had a really nice outdoor patio area and the servers were very polite. I would highly recommend checking out this restaurant if you are looking for traditional indian food!

Swetha K.

Yelp
We drive for more than an hour in traffic for the delicious food that's served here! My parents-in-law who lived in Mumbai their entire life also approve! We usually get the Vada Pav, Sabudana Khichdi and Sukhi Batata Bhaji with Puri. The desserts are the best! Their Puranpoli and the Ukadiche Modak are authentically amazing!!! We usually get take-out but their sit down restaurant is good too, and service is quick. We once came at 830pm and they close at 9pm, but they still served us with a smile and made sure we got everything we needed before they closed the kitchen. Appreciate the staff! Highly recommend this place for vegetarian Maharashtrian food!

Brianna B.

Yelp
The food was edible and satisfying. I expected the rice to be more fragrant and the Chana masala to be richer/oiler in flavor. I didn't like the palak at all so I didn't eat it. The garlic naan was good but then again, I've never had bad naan. I wish the garlic was more pronounced. Kinda felt like I was eating regular naan. The biryani was okay. I was wanting some salt the entire time tho. Blame my American palette. The samosas were the best part of the meal. My partner and I cleared all of our plates completely (with the exception of the palak) and the food arrived very quickly we were left feeling good-ish about the entire experience.

Sonja J.

Yelp
The food here is amazing! The food is comforting. It is well spiced but not so overpowering That you can't taste the food. I got the daily thali. It was more than I could eat, but it was so good that I wished I could stuff myself. I'm an Indian food novice. I can't tell you what I ate. All I can tell you is it was well done for my tastes. The staff is helpful and welcoming. The environment is inviting and clean.

Art C.

Yelp
Came back here a second time with friends, and it's still super good! We got a bunch of orders in like the garlic naan, masala, etc. the flavors were great and a good kick of spice. All vegan and cash is 10% off.

Navin K.

Yelp
"Must-visit" place if you're from or grew up in western India. Growing up in Bombay (they call it Mumbai now) I am very familiar with Bombay Street Food (batata vada, pav bhaji) as well as traditional Maharashtrian snacks and sweets like misal pav, Sabudana Khichdi, modak (believed to be a favorite of Lord Ganesh) and of course, the reason we were here - puranpoli, after which the restaurant is named. We were a large group of 8 college friends, meeting after a few months, and we ordered family style. I grabbed a chai, even though it was well past my caffeine curfew, just for old times sake, and started sampling the food as it was brought out to us. I enjoyed all the dishes. But hands down my favorite, besides the puranpoli of course (which is more like a dessert than a snack), was the Pav Bhaji. This famous street food from the beloved city I grew up In, is a vegetable curry (bhaji) primarily composed of potato, tomato, and loads of butter. Even the bread (pav) is buttered and then grilled on the pan (tava) which makes it delish! The puranpoli came last, but was well worth the wait. It was warm, sweet, stuffed with the distinctive jaggery and lentil filling specific to western India. The bill was a reasonable $25 each. The service was fast, though I've heard that's not always the case. Parking lot was tight but manageable. Bathrooms were clean. I'll be back.

Amy L.

Yelp
Great selection of vegetarian food that is all flavorful and well priced! We ordered the pav bhaji, Channa masala, and kadai paneer. My fave dish is always pav bhaji, and Puranpoli's was no exception. The veggie mixture was well seasoned and paired perfectly with the buttery bread and sharp raw onions! The kadai paneer's gravy was to die for! It reminded me of a tikka masala sauce, so if you like tikka masala, I'd say this dish was the closest thing on the menu! Their paneer was great too. I appreciated that it didn't squeak every time I took a bite. Channa masala was also delicious, but that would be the dish I'd sub out for something new next time! Definitely recommend checking out this business! The staff was so friendly too and it's a great casual atmosphere so you can come by any time of day!

Disha K.

Yelp
Food: outstanding!! The Misal Pav, Sabudana Vada, Samosa Pav, and Vada Pav was amazing!! Misal Pav was just out of the world! Service: Decent, not bad at all. Ambiance: pretty chill place. Proper Maharastian food! I would give this 9/10 - their Sabudana khichdi was missing the spice and salt. It was meh

Paul S.

Yelp
This is in the industrial park area of Santa Clara. It is one of my friend's "go-to" places for Indian food, mostly because it is reasonably priced, quick and close to his office. We met there for lunch and I had the Bombay Biryani from the "Lunch Thali" part of the menu. I also ordered some samosas to take home, as well. I'd have to say that for an American palate, the dishes were pretty spicy, even though I ordered a "medium" spice. Even the samosas were spicy. I've been to India (Bangalore) a bunch of times for work, so I think I'm more "calibrated" to the India spice scale than a lot of folks from the States. The medium here is like the nominal or medium in South India. I believe this is because the place is for the tastes of those Indian tech workers in the area. My tip is that if you come here, and you are a spice wimp, you need to make sure you order "bland" or at least make it clear you are a wimp and need low spice. That said, I thought the food was pretty good. the samosas were well prepared and had a nice crunchy shell that was not super hard or armor plated. The filling was great, but spicy as referenced above. The Biryani was nicely done. I liked the texture and flavors. It was a bit much spice for me to absorb at one time, so I took half home. That said, the rice was perfectly done (I'm Asian, so I care about rice in a way that may seem unnatural to the occidental in the crowd). Quick service from courteous waiters. Very plain, ambience, not bad, just something you'd expect in an office park.

Nessa R.

Yelp
We've been waiting years to finally try this place and we took the opportunity while we were in the area. I wanted to get the thali but I wanted to try the pav bhaji and we also got the masala fries and kadai paneer and the puranpoli. Amazing food and excellent service. The food came so quickly and the staff were so friendly despite showing some fear of our dog. We appreciated how they allow dogs on their patio :) can't wait to try the other menu items another time

Ashish T.

Yelp
The quality of the puran poli has been quite bad recently. Dry and very brittle. Other items are good. Annapoorna is a better place to have a puran poli instead.

Saiyyamee S.

Yelp
Tasty Vada Pav with green chutney and dry garlic chutney on the side. Pretty fast service on weekdays and pleasant ambiance.

Nazh D.

Yelp
Friends took me to this place when I visited town and although I'm not into vegetarian food, I actually truly enjoyed the food here. I dont remember the names because the items were ordered by my friend but I tasted each one and everything was delicious! I really enjoyed the mango drink with the food because some was a little spicy and it complimented each other. I think my favorite is the butter paneer, its just so flavorful Im sure it will be good with rice too. The place is a pretty good size of space and theres also a cute outdoor seating area. The service was also great and friendly. Definitely a place you need to check out!

Ashwini A.

Yelp
SERVICE - located near multiple complexes of office buildings - parking lot available in front - plenty of indoor and outdoor seating - order and pay at counter and then find a table - clean restrooms - friendly and quick service MENU - all vegetarian Maharashtrian food - average price ($14 per entree) FOOD - kothimbir vadi (8/10): six pieces of garbanzo bean and cilantro fritters with a creamy green chutney. This was one of my favorite dishes we ordered. I really liked how flavorful the vadi were even without the chutney. They were also served fresh and hot which maintained the crispness. I would have liked a different chutney to go along with it since the vadi already have cilantro in them. - sabudana khichdi (5/10): sautéed tapioca pearls with potatoes, peanuts, and spices. This dish is a hit or miss in many restaurants because of how easy it is to mess up the textures and flavors. While the tapioca was cooked well, I would have wanted more spices and less oil. - bharli vangi (7/10): stuffed eggplant and potato cooked in a peanut coconut gravy. This dish pairs well with naan or chapati to soak up the flavors of the sauce. It is on the spicier side but not unbearable. - zunka (8/10): a traditional maharashtrian dish made from sautéed chickpea flour and served with a side of raw onions and spicy green chutney. This was another fantastic dish. Although its components are simple, when paired together they were extremely flavorful. There was a slight sweetness and nuttiness from the chickpea flour that contrasted the heat of the spices. - puranpoli (5/10): sweet flatbread stuffed with lentils and jaggery. We had to order this since the restaurant is named after this dish. I had high hopes which were not met. The filling had a good level of sweetness but could have used some more flavor from a spice like cardamom. I also was shocked by how expensive this was in comparison to the rest of the food. WOULD I GO BACK? Possibly for some of the dishes but not others.

Madhavi S.

Yelp
The place was jam packed but we managed to get a table. It was busy with to go orders too. The food helps us to go back to the Maharashtrian roots.. Modak, puranpoli, misal and kothimbirwadi was really good. Vada pav needed some more up liftment. Junka needs to come with a jowari or Banda bhakri not a chapati or rice bhakri that was a disappointment. The service was good and wait time was also less. Overall a good food place to visit.

Ronil S.

Yelp
Amazing food. Loved the Thali. The Shrikhand and aamras that came with thali was good too. Highly recommend the Thali for an amazing Maharashtrian experience Also tried the vada paav and the misal paav and it was just the way u get in India.

Vivek K.

Yelp
It's very rare to see Marathi specific restaurants in the area, but they have been popping up in the name of food like Vada Pav and Puranpoli, but this place was something that I have been meaning to try for a while already. It's located in a heavy office area not surrounded by other restaurants, so you really have to be looking for this place to stumble upon it. I haven't really had the puranpoli dish here before but I had it at a friend's place, and the area I am from makes a very similar dish, but I wanted to try other dishes popular from here like Misal Pav and Vada Pav, which I love in general. I would definitely say the flavors are pretty good and the quality is on point, I can see why people rave about it. But the Misal curry was too oily, and both dishes weren't anything super amazing that you can't get at other restaurants. Usually the bread is toasted too which they didn't here. So just some minor things. I know now I can rely on this place for good quality food that will be tasty. But will I crave for this place? Not necessarily. However, it's a big accomplishment to still be serving this kind of food consistently, so it will always be an option whenever I am in the area!

Bharath R.

Yelp
We have done multiple catering orders for family events from Sheetal and Puranpoli. Time and again Puranpoli delivers exceptional food and our guests are always satisfied and impressed. Thank you Sheetal and Puranpoli.

vonhohenstaufen g.

Yelp
Hours are somewhat deceptive - they are open until midnight only for to-go orders. No dine in after 10pm. I went there intending to purchase a full meal but after seeing no seating, only purchased samosas. Samosas were skimpy and dry. Edit: store tried to takedown my review claiming it wasn't legit. Bad move.

Anjana R.

Yelp
Went on a Friday evening, we experienced a moderate crowd, resulting in a 10-minute wait. The cuisine boasted an authentic Maharashtrian flavor profile. The Puranpoli is an absolute must-try. Although the misal pav and bharli vangi were oily yet flavorful, it was clearly stated that they would be rich in oil content. The rice flour thecha complemented the curry excellently.

Rachel R.

Yelp
PROS Appetizers were good. Pav bhaji and Vada pav Puranpoli was amazinggggg CONS the entrees needed more salt and flavor overall. As someone who eats marathi food regularly, it was a bit disappointing A lot of self service. We had to go to the front to let the waiter know that we were ready to order or pay. Also had to obtain our own water cups, utensils, napkins etc. Wait time could be improved. I would definitely come back for the puranpoli though!

Yelp
This is an Indian restaurant that truly stands out for its authentic Maharashtrian cuisine. The menu is a treasure trove of Maharashtrian delights, and each dish I tried left an indelible mark on my taste buds. Here are some highlights: Bharli Vangi: The spicy stuffed eggplants were a revelation! The spices used in the stuffing created a perfect balance of flavors, making it a true gastronomic delight. Kadhai Paneer: The paneer in rich, aromatic gravy was a testament to the chef's expertise. The blend of spices was spot-on, and each bite was a burst of flavors. Missal Pav: A Maharashtrian classic done to perfection. The spicy misal paired with fluffy pav was a match made in foodie heaven. The crunch of farsan on top added a wonderful texture. Bombay Biryani: A flavorful twist to the traditional vegetarian pulav, the Bombay Biryani at Puranpoli is a must-try. The fragrant rice and blend of spices left me craving for more. Zunka & Bhakri: This humble yet delicious combination is a testament to the restaurant's commitment to authenticity. The bhakri was soft, and the zunka had the right blend of spices and besan. I would definitely suggest Puranpoli to anyone looking for an authentic and delicious spicy Maharashtrian dining experience.

Yelp
Sabudana khichadi had uncooked sabudana. In zunka bhakar the bhakri was rice roti . Puranpoli was decent .

Yelp
Nice place for a casual dinner with family! My parents used to live in Bombay and we love maharashtrian cuisine and dishes in my household. We got several vada pavs, pav bhaji (regular and with Amul cheese) and puranpoli. The vada pav could've been spicier but the flavors were in point! Pav bhaji was delicious as were the buttery pavs. Puranpoli is up to each person's taste - they are famous here for their soft and malleable ones, however my mom likes her puranpoli a little less buttery, and a little crisper. Four stars because the service was a little slow and we had to remind them about a dish we ordered, however the staff is so friendly and the owner is a top notch guy! He even brought out aamras for our little pup!

Yelp
Great fast food type joint serving maharashtrian delicacies. I was introduced to kokam drink and mind you it's absolutely delicious! It reminded me of the hajmola imli candy we use to have during childhood. It's not very sweet and full of flavors. We tried the vada pav, sabudana khichdi, puranpoli, pav bhaji and kothambir vadi . Everything tasted good. I especially liked the kothambir vadi and it's chutney.

Yelp
It "hits the spot" . That's it that's the TLDR review. We came here right at 11am just as they were opening up and tried misal pav, sabudana vada, solkadhi ,puranpoli and ukdiche modak. Everything was excellent, if I had to nitpick though I would say that the puranpoli way I remember having it in Mumbai years ago needs to be crumbly melt in the mouth with the outside layer almost wafer thin. Their version is a bit more pasty but delicious nonetheless. I have never had a restaurant serve ukdiche modak even in Mumbai. It's a treat reserved for Ganesh chauturthi festival and I'm glad I got to have it piping hot and fresh with adequate ghee Misal pav is excellent, forget your diet for a meal and just have it here( by this time any diet is out of the window anyway ) Trust me folks Lassi served in standard Indian restaurants is so overrated, finishing your meal with delicious Soldkadhi is just what you need on a hot summerdayand best part it won't have the unnecessary sugar . Special mention,I love that they do use reusable sustainable utensils and cutlery except for some drinks and stuff but I love that!! It's a warm simple ambience with excellent food. Special mention that it seems to be female run so totally rooting for it!!

Yelp
We ordered Pau-Bhaji, Tadka Daal, Naan and Mango Lassi. Looks like Mango is missing from Mango Lassi. And Tadka is missing from Tadka Daal. Pau Bhaji was not authentic at all. Not sure on what basis people gave 4.5 stars.

Yelp
Food here is always good...I always have the sabudana vada as it is my favorite. We even tried the vada misal and samosa pav and both were very tasty!

Yelp
Talk about tasty! And spicy hot!!! Hoo-whee!! My father would have loved this place -- his motto was "If it doesn't make me cry, it isn't hot enough!" And gee, my mouth is on fire! However, I do not know if my tolerance for spicy hot just increased dramatically, or there is something about this place that actually allowed me to enjoy the heat and the flavor of Indian food. In other places, my focus was on placating the heat instead of enjoying the flavor, but here, I finally get how the heat brings out the flavor of the food. Epiphany! The Bharly Vangi had three stuffed bell-shaped eggplants that I enjoyed immensely. Be aware, that this was also temperature hot, and the double whammy may take you by surprise. I had a Solkadhi, an unusual drink that is savory, I had been expecting a sweet drink, but after getting over my surprise, I grew more fond of this drink, savoring the kokam fruitiness. Interesting!

Yelp
Indulging in the street delicacies of my beloved Mumbai was an absolute delight, leaving my soul utterly satisfied. Transported to the vibrant ambiance of a Dadar eatery, the authenticity of the flavors was simply unparalleled. Each bite of the misal pav, batata vada, and sabudana vada was a culinary journey through the heart of Mumbai's culinary heritage. Culminating the feast with the exquisite ukdiche modak and a refreshing sip of kokum sherbet was the perfect finale. I wholeheartedly recommend this experience, as it truly captures the essence of Mumbai's street food scene, delivering a symphony of flavors that linger long after the last bite.
