The doughnuts here already always delicious! They are just the right size, small with tasty cakey dough and zesty fillings. We got two amazing Wake ‘n’ Bacon (one with no bacon), Jersey Shore, and the Pucker because it looked just like an egg! Purple Haze is small but accessible, with the friendliest (happy!!) servers. The menu is varied with vegan and gluten free choices. Delicious coffee (both hot and iced). Street parking, which can be difficult on summer weekends. Treats for furry friends 🐕‍🦺

100 stars, if possible. This place doesn't Even need reviews, the donuts are that good. You must be patient when you are in there because they are making each one by hand for you, as you order them. (The cake (delicious) donuts are already made of course. But they are hand decorating and putting on the toppings per order). You mustn't rush perfection. And these donuts are perfect. Wakn bacon is a superb blend of salty and sweet. My dog even enjoyed his doggy donuts.

It’s mainly a take out donut coffee shop. The shop was cool and the donut selections were plenty. It has some outdoor seatings. We had an apple fritter and a wildest dream. Both were wonderful and delicious. Highly recommend the place.

I've been to many fancy donut places. I would have preffered the donuts to be hot/warm (I've had donuts straight from a fryer sauced up before and it's untouchable). The donut batter texture for me felt like a little off.. They seemed to dry out very quickly I especially eating them later in the day they didn't hold up as well. Cannoli flavor was the best..

Omg!!! These donuts are freshly made to order and so darn delicious. I bought a dozen and received $2 off. The owner Rich was incredibly nice and showed me how they were made. If in Asbury Park you must try this great donut shop. Delicious 😋

I stopped by for the first time Sunday morning for some gluten free donuts! I was so excited to try some home made gluten free donuts and they did not disappoint! They are so delicious and they were made to order. The owners are super nice, 100% recommend stopping by for a sweet treat (or a dozen)

My favorite donut place. One of my favorite places to go. It’s always worth the travel down to Asbury for these donuts. Incredibly amazing customer service with very efficient workers. What I like about the donuts is that it’s made to order, it’s fresh. It is small inside but you are not in there for long but unless you can’t decide what you want that is. They are cake donuts. I like how they don’t put frosting on both sides, been to places that have and it makes it so hard to eat. These are just right! Not only that they are so awesome with unique names and so delicious! Apple cider donuts are a hit there! They also sell Holly Jolly Jams, AP Roastry coffee, merchandise, cold drinks in fridge, and dog treats. They have vegan + regular donuts to chose from and they even just started doing gluten free. One of my favorite things is how I can create my own donut, I like to mix it up and they are very nice about that. They always have specials going on! Instagram is the place to follow to be kept in the know! Purple Glaze is a wonderful place to have in Asbury Park aka music town, the donuts are named after music! So cool! They even have table outside to sit on, and they do custom donuts for birthdays, weddings, and so on! Chocolate donuts on Sundays! They even have blueberry donuts sometimes. My favorite donuts were always the espresso donuts, but I love seeing what they come up with! The holiday donuts they did with the mix of chex is incredible!

I ordered 12 dozen donuts from Purple Glaze for my wedding and they were so good that they were gone before I even made it to the table they were set up at! Unfortunately they were also gone before I could get a look of them! But all of my guests had rave reviews and absolutely loved them - there were no leftovers. Luckily my husband and I got to try the cute bride and groom themed donuts that were delicious (I felt so bad eating them). Mary is also an absolute pleasure to work with. Would recommend to anyone!!

It's a cute, fun shop with a small outdoor seatings. It's mainly a takeout coffee donut shop. The attendant was friendly and efficient. We had an apple fritter and a wildest dream. Both were wonderful and delicious.

Sweet! The doughnuts are fresh, hot and hit the spot. Donuts are cakey but still light and won't give you a sugar hangover. Lovely ladies staffing the station. Hole in the wall location is not in the nicest area, recommend driving not walking from the boardwalk. Would recommend trying the cinnamon sugar, 5/5. We also had the maple glaze which had a bit of a tangy flavor. Still delicious but not packed with maple, it reads more like vanilla glaze.

I would drive 3 hours just to get these donuts again. I was in Asbury Park for a tattoo and I figured I should go on a donut adventure. This popped up on Google and looked/sounded great. And it was. Wow! Some of the best donuts ever. And the people working there were really great too! Can't recommend this place enough.

Love this cute little donut shop!! Staff here are always friendly and personable. They seem to really enjoy their work which is nice. The donut specials are beautifully displayed in the window so it is nearly impossible to simply walk by. Specials are fun and there is something for everyone on the regular menu. Donuts are great too of course! Great small business you must visit!

ASBURY PARK: Purple Glaze Donuts is a shop downtown that serves up freshly made and handcrafted donuts with a huge selection of toppings and they also have vegan and gluten free options, along with coffee. Free doggie treats are available as your dog needs a snack too! Feel free to bring your dog inside to order and there is a small space outside with seating; good thing the donuts are easy to eat on-the-go. Super friendly staff and great food!

Having Purple Glaze at our wedding in place of a wedding cake was the best decision!!! We have the most amazing experience at our wedding thanks to Mary and the team at Purple Glaze. We had custom donuts with our name on it made in place of a wedding cake. Our guests LOVED having all the donuts to choose from. We also brought take home boxes so nothing went to waste. This was so much better than cake, easier, and we received so many compliments. The donuts were delivered and we chose to rent stands from Purple Glaze as well. This made it such a worry-free experience for us. Everything also looked so beautiful! To everyone at Purple Glaze, we can't thank you enough. We HIGHLY recommend doing this for a wedding, shower, birthday party etc. the donuts are absolutely delicious and beautiful.

I had originally bought a cupcake cake from ShopRite that I wasn't too happy with. I came into purple glaze the day of the party and asked if I could get donuts arranged in a 4 for my son's birthday. The staff was soooo nice! They totally worked with me even though I hadn't placed an advance order. I got 12 donuts all different flavors, they made a 4 out of seven donuts and put the rest in a different box. Very happy with them, and so pretty and tasty!!!

Always a favorite in Asbury. We got three from their regular menu (Purple Glaze, Banana Cream, and Sinfully Jelly), and two specials (Firworks vanilla glaze with pop rocks, and a Mudslide with chocolate icing and caramel drizzle)! The line moves fast so don't let that deter you!

This place is great! Lots of donut options, including vegan and gluten free ones. I rocked a vanilla chai donut with a large coffee, and it totally got me going. The staff are friendly and service FAST! Highly recommended if you're looking for a morning sugar/caffeine fix.

We went to the Bell Works market they have on Wednesdays. It was my first time there and the place was pretty big and very spacious. They had a pretty good selection of donuts there. It was quick to order and the guy was friendly. The donut though was really good. I think my favorite must have been the raspberry crumble. I definitely wanna try the other flavors.

Rich is the best! These donuts are my husbands favorite and we actually travel about 30 minutes to pick them up for our family dinners and events. Our order is always ready at the pickup time and made fresh. Our extended family in PA asks for us to bring these now when we're traveling to them. The minis are perfect for gatherings. The menu is creative and fun! 5 stars all around, every time.

Super cute little shop. Manager was welcoming and friendly. Prices were reasonable for gourmet-ish donuts. Outside seating is great for a perfect day. Coffee is help yourself. And the donuts were FABULOUSSSSS! Sooooo fresh. Zero trace of grease. All the ones I got were DELICIOUS! My favorite: The Powdered because sometimes, the classics are classics for a reason! Please try this place. I love it! P.S. I *DID*, however, wish they had a yeast donut somewhere.

This place has been on my list of places to check out. Of all the times going to Asbury Park I don't know why it took me so long. Went the Saturday before Christmas. I was able to park right in front (free parking right in front for patrons). I walked in and got warm greetings from everyone. They had a few donuts in the window on display (it seemed like their seasonal/limited time donuts). The rest of their menu is listed on the board on the wall. Thankfully they were very patient with me as I was determining what to order. I decided on getting a few classics and some of the seasonal donuts. As the employee was preparing my donuts, the owner started chatting with me. I told him this was my first time visiting the shop. The owner and the staff were super nice. All the donuts are made to order. They do take credit cards, but do charge a credit card service fee, FYI. I brought the donuts to my friends, who absolutely loved them. They get an A+ on creativity and design. Their donuts are cake based, which for me I prefer yeast based donuts. They did have one yeast based donut, but didn't realize that until after my order was complete. Great shop if you love artisan cake based donuts.

I hadn't visited Purple Glaze Donuts since before Covid and boy was I overdue. Rich, one of the new owners was so warm and inviting a and gave me an update of the new ownership. It looks like he did a great job with the transition. The donuts are still very good quality and taste amazing and they have a huge selection. We were there the day before Halloween and all the different seasonal varieties were out in full force. Definitely stop by and try some delicious donuts. You'll be happy you did.

I've been wanting to try Purple Glaze Donuts for a while and I finally did! You'd pass by this little shop if you didn't know what magic is inside. Purple Glaze Donuts offers specialty donuts. Check out their extensive menu! I'm not sure that you could go wrong with any of the donut options they offer. Aside from their lengthy menu, they also offer vegan and gluten free options; and even treats for the pups! I opted for the coconut concussion (vanilla icing, shredded coconut, coconut cream filling, and I substitute for vanilla drizzle (typically comes with chocolate drizzle). One thing to be mindful of is parking, being that Purple Glaze Donuts is in such close proximity to downtown Asbury, you have to parallel park on the street. The positive aspect-there's an ample amount of paid parking that's available. The shop is smaller but there is outside seating that's available! P.s. don't forget to look out for their specials, they appear equally amazing.

Amazing donuts and so many different options to choose from. Each time I've gone, the employees have been super polite and patient as I made a decision on which donuts to get. Love the menu staples and specials board for donut flavors. Absolutely recommend checking out if you're in Asbury Park.

Love the donuts here. They are so cute and I love the rotating selection of specials that all have their unique character to them. I personally love gummies and I thought the shark attack donut was a combination of two things that I really enjoy. I'm excited to try new flavors as well! Plus the staff here is very friendly. My only complaint is that this shop is NEVER open when I want a donut. Yes, donuts are a breakfast food, but why can't we get donuts for late night as well furthermore for people that work a 9-5 job, it's hard to come here before the store closes

I finally returned here to have another array of donuts. My thoughts on what I had this time are below. PB & J - (see previous review for similar thoughts) Ring of Fire - I was unsure of this the last time I had it, but after eating it again, I was a fan. The slight spiciness of the jelly really made for an appetizing donut. Banana Cream Pie - This was somehow better than the last time, seemed like the banana topping was more flavorful. What's Poppin Lemon Special - This consisted of a lemon glaze, poppy seeds, and whipped cream. This was put together and the fluffy whipped cream enhanced the lemon flavoring here. Carcass - This was a Nutella special. It was made up of chocolate icing, Nutella, chocolate whipped cream, and chocolate crunchies. This was very good, nice balance of the flavors here. Delicious, interesting, fun donuts. I'm not a big donut person, but these are so inventive you'll be sure to finds something you'll like.

Best donuts I had in a long time it's a small place but a lot of options on donuts and delicious too, I recommend this place you got to try the holy cannoli and coconut concussion. I'm actually an hour and a half away from Neptune New Jersey, I come here at least twice a month just to get donuts.

Delicious and fun flavored donuts! My boyfriend and I ordered 4 donuts - cinnamon sugar, boston crème, salty dog, and coconut concussion. The donut base is all the same- perfect texture and the right amount of sweetness, even after sitting in my car for a couple of hours before we sat down to eat them. The fillings also had a great creamy texture and tasted great with the right ratio of cream to donut. Love that they have gluten free and vegan options as well and will definitely try them next time! The interior of the store is colorful and fun, and I like that they display the specials of the day so you can see what you're ordering.

I was walking around downtown Asbury Park soaking up the atmosphere when I noticed a flag waving with what looked like a purple doughnut down the block. As I approached I was delighted to find that the flag was waving on the outside of Purple Glaze. Since I love doughnuts, and calories don't count on weekends, I immediately decided to check it out. Before even looking at the menu, I was (and still am) really impressed with the way Purple Glaze is handling the pandemic. It's a small shop so they're only allowing two people in at a time, but they have markers outside for social distancing and crowd control. Additionally, they are using disposable paper menus for you to use then toss. Onto the doughnuts - the menu has a large variety; it's almost overwhelming but they do a great job with descriptions. They had a special where you get $2 off a dozen so I went with that so I can bring home and share. I decided not to repeat flavors to get maximum coverage - some of my favorites were the raspberry jam, coconut, and the key lime. The doughnuts were good - they were fresh and the flavors were prominent. I'm normally more of a yeast doughnut person, but when it comes to cake these were some of the best I've had. If I had one criticism it's that they use the same cake doughnut base for all their flavors, so there's a risk of a somewhat monotonous flavor in all their varieties. Also, it's worth noting that because they are cake doughnuts the flavors lie on top of the doughnuts rather than acting as a filling. Overall though, I was really impressed with Purple Glaze. The doughnuts were great, and the fast and friendly service makes them a standout. If I find myself in Asbury Park again I'll be sure to return to try more of their flavors.

Super fresh and moist donuts! I had the bacon maple one and it was really soft and tasty. I also had the apple fritter that had a cinnamon swirl dough and crust. I want to go back and try the others. Also the staff was friendly

Always down for donuts. Had this on the radar, once I knew I was coming to AP. I had 2 picked out, but they require a $10 minimum purchase for credit cards, so they "forced" me to buy 2 more. All were excellent. As you can see from the pictures, all of their donuts have the filling on the outside. Unique approach. They had a few seasonal flavors that were printed, off the menu. Staff was nice. Highly recommend.

Good selection of donuts. Regular, gluten free , vegan , dairy free - they have it. We got a bunch of the gluten free donuts and they were awesome.

I love this place however, I tried the marshmallow glazed donut that has the apple in the middle, it does not go at all. Please change that. I love apples and love marshmallow and did not like it at all. Other than that Top that donut rocks and I am here three times a month at least.

We were in town so we stopped in to see what this place was about and we weren't disappointed. We had our dog with us so I was going to stay outside while my girlfriend checked it out and one of the staff was like bring him in! So we did and he gave him a treat and was down on the floor petting him and he was awesome with the dog. This place is extremely warm and inviting and the 2 staff members we met (one seemed like the owner, the other her son?) were amazing. We went with the Boston Cream and Banana Cream Pie and sure enough he threw in a free Apple Cider donut. The Banana Cream Pie was amazing, no other way to describe it, banana cream isn't easy to do, I've had plenty of bad ones but this one was awesome with graham cracker crumbs too, delicious! Boston Cream was good and different, with a fresh warm donut with the cream on top instead of inside and the icing was tasty as well. Apple Cider donut - very good! Overall a great experience. The staff seem to know their customers by name which is not the norm nowadays but this place does it right! Dog friendly was awesome too! I highly recommend!

Cute little mom and pop shop in Asbury. Donuts here are made fresh so each batch comes out a bit warm which is the best thing about Purple Glaze. They have a variety of flavors but the french toast and maple bacon is by far my favorite. I like how it's not a yeast type of only but it's not as heavy as a cake if you know what i mean. I like they incorporate their COVID protocol which is max of two people in to order and pay. Then they bring it right out to you. The people here are super friendly and also treated us to a free apple cider donuts as well. They sure do know how to treat their customers!

Small little shop. They make the donuts to order. Super fresh and delicious. They have some seasonal specials and a permanent menu to choose from. Also noticed they serve coffee too. Very limited seating. I went with a French toast (cinnamon sugar) and Mint cookie (chocolate) donut. Both were really good but I preferred the French toast. Both were filled as well. I would eat them right away when they are hot and fresh. Did not taste as good a few hours later.

I tried the "Yeastie Boy" donut which is a yeast donut topped with icing and fruity pebbles cereal. The cereal was crunchy, which I enjoyed. The donut itself is very soft and fresh. 4 stars because it is quite expensive for what it is and while it's a solid donut, nothing about it particularly wowed me.

Some of the best donuts this family has ever had. Visited when we were in New Jersey on vacation. If we lived nearby, we'd be there every weekend! This place deserves some sort of award.

So I had a chance to check out this place before going to the beach. This place closed at 2pm so be aware before making a trip. This place is in town. Parking is metered and can be tricky especially in the summer . There is a parking deck but who wants to do that if all you want is to grab a donut lol. I was able to jump in a space - and go in and out without paying :) The place is super small. Some benches out front Staff was nice . TheY greeted me right away And gave me a menu upon walking in . There is a small display of a few specialty donuts set up to show you what they look like All their donuts are made to order. The donut is more of a CAKE donut than a doughy inside ( like the glazed Dunkin' Donuts or Crispy Creme type donuts). Although I prefer doughy donut - but getting these donuts warm , fresh and made to order makes it worth it. I checked out the purple glaze and the Holy Canoli. The purple glaze was ok- just glaze and purple sprinkles ( I love purple ;)) ... the Holy Canoli was heaven and perfect ( check out photos) So if you like speciality donuts or like your donuts made when you order them then check out this place :)

AMAZING! I got four to try and the waffle and salty dog were my favorite. Dough was not too dense and the icing not too sweet.

Fresh hot made to order donuts! Crafted by the nicest people I have ever met. I always check Facebook to see what the special of the day is. My all time favorite is the 'its a jelly'. The place is small, so especially in the time of covid, expect to wait outside. The decor is minimal, hit let's be real all that matters is the donuts are awesome! Call ahead to have your treats waiting for you!

My partner and I spent the month in AP and decided from our first visit that Purple Glaze was going to be a part of our daily wellness routine. We would walk 2 miles every morning and then treat ourselves with donut kindness. Despite our best efforts we were unable to taste the complete menu given the prolific donuts du jour. The people behind the counter are super friendly and clearly love their jobs. Donuts themselves have fun names, are freshly made, warm, with just the right amount of sweet topping. You definitely walk out feeling happier than you came in. A positive contribution to your mental health. 8-)

Forgot to take a picture of the donuts but this is a cool donut shop. I wish the donut itself changed in flavors besides the toppings. It was a general plain donut underneath the toppings. But overall the donuts were good when warm and the flavors I chose to try were good too. I had 4: raspberry crumb, coconut concussion, s'mores and banana creme pie. Staff were friendly and service was quick too.

Good and fun doughnuts with great customer service! They have some seating outside, but with no covering. They offer masks and hand sanitizer outside the entrance. Doughnuts start at $2 and are fairly large. There was no wait when we went around 11 AM on a Friday.

What can be said about a place that has 5 stars and 100+ reviews?!? Yes, it lives up to the hype. I've had friends obsessed with this place for awhile, and who were kind enough to bring me donuts to try, but I never ventured into the shop myself. The donuts are made fresh everyday, and just the thought process behind how they customize them is so cool. They start with a plain donut, and then make EACH ONE SPECIAL TO ORDER! Can you even fathom the love that is put into every single order?? It's amazing. Now, if you are not won over by one of their scrumptious flavors (which they switch up here and there), you will be wowed by their excellent customer service. Hubby and I went after grabbing brunch nearby and I just wanted to get one donut for my second breakfast (I'm 8 months pregnant, don't judge me...), and we both wanted a Lola donut (dulce de leche and cinnamon sugar), and felt like trying another fancy one. We opted for a cookie dough chocolate one, and then couldn't agree on a fourth so we were just going to order 3. The guy behind the counter, who gave us the best intro to the place and explained each flavor, asked, "What would've been your 4th choice?" So my husband picks this jelly glazed donut, heavy metal I think it was called....AND they gave it to us for free to fill a small box! So sweet! Sidenote, I HATE jelly donuts and this one was AMAZING. So if you love donuts, and want to support an awesome local joint, DEFINITELY hop on the bandwagon and come to Purple Glaze.

A donut Mecca if I ever saw one. The line is out the door for a reason, their fun flavorful concoctions are out of this world. Creative and tasty all of the toppings are awesome. You have to get several it's in the Geneva Conventions! I had three and my lovely female companion had one. You know girls! I didn't care I would have had six!!! If you are looking for a dessert item, a treat, of a snack get your butt to this establishment and chow down! A few tips; grab a table with a friend let one get a menu and do the ordering. When you order grab a bunch of napkins by the cash register, I only found one dispenser. And know what you want before you get to the front, the place is small but well staffed but there is always a line.

Recently went back to purple glaze and tried them again. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The doughnuts were great and I was surprised at how delicious and moist their vegan doughnut was.

Yummy! Each year when my husband and I visit Asbury Park, we have to make this stop. We pig out on donuts, because hey! We don't have this back in NY. I'm pretty damn sure the French Toast donut is my favorite, but key lime pie is a close second. This is a small place. Expect to be in and out, take them home with you! I love that there is a message with "specials" written up in the chalk wall when you enter. Directly in front of that wall they have a display of the different donuts. Check out the paper menu for staples; these are always available. So writing this is making me crave these sweets. I hate that it's so far away! Maybe add a location in NY? :) Wash these bad boys down with some cold brew from Asbury Park Roastery just a few minutes away. You won't regret it. You'll have one hell of a breakfast, lunch, brunch, snack, whatever! Thank me later :)

If Mike C-Food Baby came to this doughnut spot, I knew I had to come. Just off the Garden State parkway, I'm working myself up to a doughnut frenzy. I read Mike C's review, how will the doughnuts be? Are they more cake like or more airy? Walking into the small but cozy store, I'm greeted by two cheery gentleman. I tell them first time here and I'm jonesin' an iced coffee. One the gentleman (Is he in Pajamas??) come around the counter and starts describing the specials as well as the regular doughnuts. I think about the sugars I'll be consuming and I switch it up to a sugar free iced tea as well as a hot off the rack vanilla glazed doughnut. That's right. A simple and plain doughnut will be able to test the quality of the doughnut base. The base is the same but all of the different flavors are the toppings, similar to Dough in Brooklyn. They dip the base into items that will make your funky doughnut wish come true. I see the other gentleman with a rolling pin and he's rolling the dough. My doughnut comes out and its fresh like summer rain. That's something you want to have, a hot off the rack, warm doughnut. Mmmm.. I also picked up a bag of doggie doughnuts for my fur babies at home. My sons would eat them in two bites, they'll live without these doughnuts. If your in the area, I highly recommend Purple Glaze Donuts. "Purple glaze, all in my brain.."

Very friendly and a wonderful selection of classic and creative doughnuts. My wife and kids love this place.

While it was on the empty side at around 10:30 on a Thursday morning, the guy was quick to greet us and hand us a laminated menu and explain the wall to the left when you enter is the daily specials. He seemed very friendly and explained that they make the donuts from the same base as you order them-- so you know you're getting pretty fresh donuts that havent soaked in the toppings or gone stale. The donuts we got were the holy cannoli, key lime pie, salty dog, lemon something, and blueberry pancake, and weird dough (cookie dough) with the last two being daily specials. All were amazing and the base donut is pretty tasty and not boring at all. The holy cannoli was the best, but if you see edible cookie dough on the specials menu again GET IT! It is so tasty, brown sugar-y and chocolatey. A little bit of a wetter consistency of a cookie dough than expected but if you're eating it right after it shouldn't matter because it is yummy. The base donut is more of a cake donut than a yeasty light one, so like Entenmann's vs Krispy Kreme but better obviously. Also it took the guy no time at all to make six donuts.

Great place that fits well for a funky area. Boo Boo and I came here for dessert/snack after walking down the boardwalk. We usually prefer yeast donuts over cake but the fresh ingredients made the donuts good. We also brought some back home.
