Puteus Palace Heritage Hotel, Pucisca, Croatia - Explore & Book

"Hidden inside a deep winding bay on the island of Brac, the town of Pucisca (pronounced putch-ish-chah) was founded on the wealth of its stone quarries. They were mined for Bracki mramora, literally "Brac marble", which has been exported from the island since Roman times. In the 15th century, to protect against marauders, Pucisca was fortified with 13 Renaissance towers - of these, seven remain, and one is incorporated into the Puteus Palace, making it the oldest palace on the Adriatic coast. The rest of the building, built in the 17th and 18th centuries, has been carefully renovated to create a magnificent 15-room boutique hotel with calming harbour views. Behind the palace lies its standout feature: a dreamy 1500 sqm walled garden. Terraced on three levels, it hosts the open-air Puteus Restaurant, with tables set on a wooden deck shaded by a magnificent celtis (hackberry) tree, plus a handful of others on a stone patio draped with roses and wisteria. It's a lovely spot for breakfast or for contemporary Croatian meat and fish dishes later in the day, sometimes accompanied by live music. At the bottom of the garden, there's a large secluded pool for a morning dip, or you could walk to one of the nearby pebbly beaches if you prefer a swim in the sea. The Puteus Palace makes a romantic hideaway for exploring Brac's coastline and sleepy rural villages, and for enjoying the island's hiking, biking and watersports. Highs A lovely location overlooking Pucisca's fishing harbour, lined with tamarisk trees and white stone benches The magnificent walled garden with its restaurant, lawns, lemon trees, lavender, rosemary, pink oleander and swimming pool The stylish lounge with lots of natural light, a fireplace, sofas and armchairs - ideal for receptions A great little spa offering Jacuzzi and Finnish sauna (free for guests), located in a separate old stone building A helpful concierge service for arranging transfers, activities and excursions Lows Only two suites have balconies, though others have windows with lovely harbour views Pucisca is rather sleepy with very little nightlife or shopping - not for those after a lively party atmosphere Some might find the bedroom decor a little too kitsch No kids under 7 (a plus for some!) and no extra beds" - Jane Foster

Puteus Palace Heritage Hotel | Dalmatian Islands

"Built around a sheltered fishing harbour, Pucisca on Brac has been famed for its stone quarries since Roman times. Here, this 15th-century stone building was carefully restored to create a discrete boutique hotel, which opened in summer 2019. Out back, hidden from view, lies a lush walled garden, planted with roses, wisteria and lavender, hosting a restaurant on a series of secluded terraces. It’s a superb spot to start the day with a cooked-to-order breakfast, or to round off with a candlelit Dalmatian seafood supper. There’s also a small outdoor pool and a mini-spa with Jacuzzi and Finnish sauna. " - Jane Foster

This is a truly excellent hotel, the staff were very friendly and very helpful. The food is really great too. I had a lot of email exchanges with a couple of ladies on reception, in particular Paula, who went above and beyond to help me arrange flowers, and champers in the room for my partners birthday. I highly recommend this hotel if you're staying on Brac.

Classic hotel with beautiful garden, pool and outdoor dining area. Amazing breakfast. Terrific setting in a charming town. We enjoyed live music in the town square and late-night dip in the nearby beach. Nicest place we saw on Brac. ||Be aware: it does not have 24-hour dining as it claims.

Me and my partner stayed here for two nights and I must say this was one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at! Everything from the kind and welcoming staff, amazing breakfast, beautiful decor, lovely drawing room to relax in - I couldn’t find fault if I tried!!

I was somewhat taken aback by your email. I will address your points below. 1. This room has two windows, one is in the bedroom and this one is on your picture, Second window is In living room and has a direct sea view, no wall view.- This is not a sea view. This is a view with a little bit of water in it. I ask you to visit rooms with true sea views and you will notice the difference. The people viewing reviews online can judge for themselves. 2. We are suprised by your claim about constant noise during the night because of cleaning activites and general foot traffic in the reception area. First because you didn't mentioned it during your stay and during check-out, and second reason is because we never clean during the night and only one receptionist is in the reception area in this time and there is no possibility of any traffic on the reception.- There are c. Four rooms next to reception. The halls echo. To us it sounded like cleaning. If it was not cleaning, then I advise your staff to be more quiet at night. 3. Puteus Palace is situated near the main church and as Croatia is catholic country so the local habit is that church bell are ringing every hour from 6 am – 11 pm to present time of the day and on Sudays they ring longer to celebrate mass.As you came on Sunday evening to the reception and claimed about bell ringing it was explained it to you that on Sunday the bells ring a bit longer during the day.- it was explained after check out. I advise you inform guests prior to check in. 4. As you came on Sunday evening to the reception and claimed about bell ringing it was explained it to you that on Sunday the bells ring a bit longer during the day.Our receptionist offered you ear plugs which you refused and you decided to check out on this evening.- I use these words cautiously - whoever informed you of this has lied to you. We were not offered ear plugs. In any case ear plugs would have made no difference. I advise you make this clearer on your website. 5. Our receptionist offered you twice assistance with the luggage wich you refused as well.- I would not have provided this feedback if it was not true. It appears that you are calling me a liar which I take great offence to. No assistance was offered. I am appalled that this is your reply. I would have been fine to carry my luggage but you let my girlfriend carry her luggage alone without assistance. I do not expect any compensation for what was a hugely disappointing stay. Your email has magnified what are glaring inadequacies in your offering. Thank you for taking the time to reply but I find your reply totally inadequate and inaccurate.

This was a lovely hotel. We spent 4 nights and was relaxing and peaceful after 4 nights in Split. The food was wonderful - never seen a breakfast buffet like they offer! The staff are friendly and welcoming and looked after us. Pool is a lovely area to relax after sight-seeing in the morning. If you have a car would recommend driving to Sumartin and Povlja in the south, beaches were lovely - so much better than the packed beach of Zlanti rat.

We spent 4 wonderful night here a couple of weeks ago. It’s beautifully small with only 15 rooms meaning it’s quiet and intimate with a lovely relaxed atmosphere. The room was lovely with plenty of space and all you need. We had a top floor room which meant the roof slope interferes into the room and the shower was a bit awkward as a consequence. |The outside terrace was lovely for drinks, dinner and breakfast although watch out for the mosquitos so take your repellent with you! The breakfast buffet was lovely and there was a choice of eggs or pancakes too. We had dinner twice and the food was good and reasonable value although our fillet steak was closer to well done than medium.|The village is lovely and quiet and not busy even when the boats arrive and has a couple of places to drink as well as a pizza restaurant and another more rustic restaurant further around the bay.|A perfect place for a relaxing getaway!
