A nice, small & homely hotel located less than 5 minutes walk from the beach & just a short walk from the village centre & the Café Du Zon, my reason for being in Wijk Aan Zee again. ||A pleasant, friendly & informative check in & I was off up the stairs (no lift) to my non smoking room. A nice sized room, really atmospheric, decorated, as it was, in a style from years past. Carpet floor, double bed, tv, tea/coffee, wardrobe, hairdryer, smoke alarm, mini bar, full length mirror, dresser & chair & a few spare electrical sockets. A large radiator meant the room temperature was good & it needed to be as, it was anything but warm outside. Plenty of natural light & no noise issues from inside or outside of the hotel. Wi fi was free, easy to connect to, quick & consistent.||The bathroom was, size wise, ok with a tiled floor, shower cubicle & shower with good pressure & plenty of hot water, large mirror, toiletries & plenty of towels. ||I only made it down for breakfast on one of my two mornings. Continental buffet with not a huge choice but nice fayre including cereals, toast, cheeses, cold meats, breads, bacon, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, omelettes, coffee, teas & orange juice. I didn’t use the hotel for dinner/lunch.||The bar was nice, not massive but cozy & I had a pleasant hour enjoying a couple of beers there with friends before heading in to the village.||I found the stairs to be, like another hotel that I have stayed in Wijk Aan Zee, very steep & quite narrow. Not easy after a night out with maybe one or two too many beers on board.||There is a nice outdoor terrace but it was too cold, when I was there, to contemplate sitting out & enjoying it. There are other facilities & services, including a small swimming pool & bike hire that I did not use.||All staff that I encountered were excellent – friendly & helpful.||I checked out fairly early because of my flight home time but checking out only goes to 10.30 which is one of the earliest check out times that I have come across.
