Hong Kong’s ‘Demon Chef’ Alvin Leung To Open Forbidden Duck In Singapore In April

"For contemporary Sichuan restaurant Qi’s first overseas outpost, the entire menu will be transplanted here. There are two Qi restaurants in Hong Kong—Qi House of Sichuan in Wan Chai, which garnered a Michelin star last year, and Qi Nine Dragons in Tsim Sha Tsui. Signature dishes include spicy prawns, dan dan noodles, smoky hot tofu with chestnuts and cumin lamb with roasted chilli. There will also be new dishes with Singapore influences." - Kenneth Goh

Went on a Monday night, no reservation, seated immediately. Excellent service including refilling my water glass about 15 times. Server asked for our preferred spiciness level and we said “regular for Sichuan”. Wontons in chili oil appetizer, excellent. Mala beef, crazy good, has a little sweetness to balance the spiciness, definitely one of the top three Asian beef dishes I’ve ever had. Chongqing chicken, a little less spicy than I’m used to on the mainland, but also less salty, which helped to balance it out. Served boneless which I prefer to how it is sometimes served on the mainland. Very good. Ambience good but could do with a little refresh if they want to get their Michelin star back. Overall, in a city of great dining, will return to Qi on our next trip.

Google
it looks posh and so as the price. the cocktail was a little disappointing. food was alright so somehow everything is for tourist, not really authentic sichuan spicy. heavily sauced and seasoned that overwhelmed the taste buds.

Went for dinner with my family and friends on a Wednesday evening. Even though the resturant was not crowded, the waiter was in some sort of hurry to take the order and go off. The food was damn good and I would want to come back again to try different items. You could find a lot of red 🌶 in the dishes we ordered but they are not really spicy. Would have loved and outdoor seat but I was informed that only 2 tables were being served outdoors and both were full, the empty tables were not being served, and it was a pity.

I never have anything bad to say about this place. The food is always on point, offering good quality Sichuan delights in a calm and ambient setting. The service is always friendly and attentive. I recently went for the lunch set, which is feel is excellent value. Tip, upgrade the set to enjoy a bowl of dan dan noodles.

Google
Honesty the food was very nice, although the chili oil fish, had very little fish. Too much numbing, too little salt. It was nice though. The mapo tofu was very good, very great, and the hot and sour soup met my expectations. The service was worse than I imagined? Nothing awful, but really not great service. We made a reservation, althohhh we were the only table when we arrived, it was booked out for a few days , so possibly we just came at a bad time. I probably won’t comeback. Restaurant was nice, but nothing special.

Food was pretty good. Definitely stick to their recommended specialties like the Mala Crispy Beef that was top notch. The rest of the dishes were so-so, nothing special. Honey & Garlic Ribs were poor, Spicy Wontons lacked filling flavour. I would come again but try some more of their specialties.

Qi - House of Sichuan offers an unforgettable dining experience with authentic Sichuan cuisine. The food is bold, flavorful, and beautifully presented, with dishes like the spicy mapo tofu and tender chili-infused beef stealing the show. The atmosphere is elegant yet vibrant, featuring modern decor with a touch of traditional Chinese aesthetics, perfect for both casual and special occasions. The service is impeccable—staff are attentive, knowledgeable, and happy to guide you through the extensive menu. Whether you’re a spice lover or simply seeking a unique culinary adventure, Qi - House of Sichuan is a top choice in Hong Kong.

Google
Michelin-starred (until 2019) Sichuan place. I love the food here - nothing too overwhelmingly spicy but still the taste is on point. Second visit: Jul 2025 update: Avoid at all cost. The quality fell so much. The servers are nowhere to be seen, and their nails are long. Food is not even up to par with cha chaan teng. Price is up.

Yelp
Qi House of Sichuan was one of my favorite places to visit during my Hong Kong trip. We had just gotten to our Airbnb and were tired beyond belief but we were also hungry. Found this place down the street and decided to go. The first thing you'll see when you walk in is peppers. And I mean a lot of peppers!! They had huge bags full of peppers everywhere which should give you an indication of how spicy their cuisine is. We ordered a variety of different foods and they were all great. It's was all flavorful and something I've never tried before. If you don't enjoy spicy food, you might not like this place. They put spicy peppers in everything!! By the end of the meal, our lips were on fire and I'm sure I couldn't taste anything near the end. But it was fantastic!! Definitely go if you are in the areas

Yelp
Instead of marking the menu with chilies to show what is spicy they should mark what is mild! Great flavors that awake. Your tongue! Really nice options for vegans. The vibe is classy but we felt comfortable wearing T-shirts. The noodles have a peanut tone that is lovely. Service was incredibly attentive.

Yelp
Numbing spice. I loved every bit though. Not for the faint of heart. The dumplings were so delicious everything after that was just numbing. The kind when your mouth tingles. Beautiful decor. Quick srvice. Delicious authentic Sichuan food. We had a bunch of dishes as we re a large group including the fish hot pot and everything was delicious. They make some great cocktails too.

Yelp
My friends and I walked in for dinner on a weekday evening. It was my first time going to a Michelin star restaurant so I was very excited. We were seated without much of a wait, and the wait staff was overall very helpful (and they speak fluent English and Mandarin which was a plus). We ordered many of their dishes, mostly the Sichuan classics such as the Mapo Tofu, Braised Mandarin Fish Fillet, Double Cooked Pork Belly, etc. Overall, all of these dishes were very well made as advertised. Our general consensus was that the dishes were all spicy, but not to the point where it was no longer pleasant. In other words, just right. All of the ingredients were quality (good cuts of meat, fish, etc.) and each dish contained a generous amount of peppers. To complement our meal, we ordered some (red?) wine, the Shao Xing Altar 10 years. The liquor was a bit stronger than expected and probably a white wine would have paired better with the spicy food. The wine was pretty decent regardless. Finally, we finished with some gold custard buns. These buns were piping hot and amazing and a great way to finish off the meal. Overall, I'd say that the food here was of excellent quality and definitely reflects the premium price. I would have appreciated if there were a bit less peppers and a bit more of everything else though, as the portion sizes were not very large. The service was great in general, although sometimes it was hard to wave down staff for things like ordering or getting the check. The atmosphere in general was fantastic and we all had a fantastic time. If I go back to Hong Kong, I'd be happy to come back again!

Yelp
I wanted to eat Szechuan food for my last dinner so my friend (who is a HK local) suggested we check out Qi House of Sichuan. She's been a few times. It's located on the second floor so take the elevator up. The entrance is tucked around the corner (use Ship Street). Bo Innovation shares the same building (they're on the first floor). We made a reservation for Sunday dinner (7:30pm) but the place wasn't very busy. The inside is dark and intimate; interesting vibe they're going for as a Szechuan place. This was easily the fanciest place I ate at during my HK trip. The menu is big with cold and hot appetizers, dim sum, soup, beef, fish, crab & prawn, poultry, pork, lamb, vegetables, tofu, rice, noodles and dessert. Price range is $55 to 695 HKD! Their two course lunch menu (Monday to Friday only) looked much more accessible ($120 to $240 HKD). - Appetizer - they bring this out to you when you sit down. Daikon, a kimchi (sort of) and sweet potato. I'm not sure if we were charged for this or not. - Chili oil wontons ($80 HKD) - you get 5 pieces. The chili flake and oil sauce was excellent. - Dan dan noodles ($75 HKD) - not the best dan dan I've had but this was passable. - Braised Mandarin fish fillet in chili oil soup ($300 HKD large) - this is what we came for! The large is an absolutely massive bowl. There was sweet potato noodles (delicious, chewy texture), endless peppers, fish, bean sprouts and cilantro. The broth was spicy (but not too much) and slightly numbing. - Lemon chicken ($110 HKD) - an odd dish to order as it's not very Szechuan but my friends liked it. Sauce is sticky and not overly sweet. Believe they use real lemon to make the sauce. - Vegetarian fried rice ($110 HKD) - nothing to write home about. Your typical fried rice. I'd come back for the Szechuan specific dishes. 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Have had lots of Sichuan food - in Sichuan, all over China, and in a few other places. Qi is definitely in one of the top spots on the list, fabulous flavors. We were totally taken by the Bang Bang Chicken - beats any other rendition of the dish I've had. Four stars only because they put a little snack on the table as we settled in, and then charged us HKD 30 for it. No, it's not much money, but we found it was petty.

Yelp
OMG. I came here for a work dinner and was simply blown away! Sichuan food is spicy but more of the numbing type (called numbing sauce). While you may find some non-spicy things, almost everything here will be fairly spicy. We had some appetizers: wontons (both with the peanut sauce as well as chili - chili is better), eggplant, mapo and green beans. All were excellent. We also had the fish dish (fried) and chicken. I only tried the fish and it was excellent. I decided to come back for a quick lunch before leaving - they have a lunch special so was really worth it. Make reservations, sit outside and enjoy! Make sure to order sweet wine or champagne (you'll need it)!

Yelp
Really nice Sichuan food, in a very nice clean environment. Unfortunately I'm not a huge fan of Chili (so it is totally my fault that this restaurant doesn't suit me). Friendly and efficient service, and a nice outdoor area for dining.

Yelp
They provided a little taste of wonderful spiced cabbage and sweet potato. I knew right away I would enjoy this meal. The appetizer of chili oil wonton was exactly incredible. Spicy for sure that lingered all around my mouth but didn't really burn only make me want more. Next I had scallion ginger beef. Holy shit. Crispy beef with a spicy ginger taste. So good. I've really been looking for a Sichuan place that I'll remember for a long time and think I found it. Quick note: I like spicy food. So anyway I really enjoyed it.

Yelp
***Very nice Sichuan place with Fast Service*** I almost had TEARS in my eyes (from the spicy food)..... so one may say these were tears of joy. Qi house of Sichuan has a nice ambience so you always get a good vibe as soon as you enter the seating area. But as always, the deciding factor is the food.... so I'd say the food is definitely worth GOING BACK AGAIN. I quite liked the attentive staff and their fast service! They were always aware of when we finished a drink or dish, and were ready to clean it up. This is also an important factor in deciding to go back again. For the Appetizers, the WONTON IN CHILI OIL was great. Very delicious steamed wontons in that super spicy red chili oil. I will remember to order them again when I go back next time. Among the mains, the Qi FRIED RICE was just prefect! It had shrimp and port pieces and everything about it was good. :like:The DOUBLE COOKED PORK BELLY was another major highlight. Not surprisingly it had generous amounts of red chili pieces in it. The generous amounts of vegetables added a balance to the chili to some extent. The pork belly itself was well cooked and I think I didn't leave a single piece on the plate The Lychee Mojito was nice. And they also had a good selection of red and white wines. Among the beers there were only 2 (Asahi and TsingTao)... but honestly these 2 brands are already good enough so I don't think more beer brands required .

Yelp
Sichuan food : Now I have had the chance to try it. What can I remember? Spicy...everything is spicy.. for the most part. I think this is what Sichuan food is known for so prep those tastebuds to be ON FIRE. Other than that, very tasty with good texture and consistency. We did order one non-spicy dish: a fish dish. Which at the end of our dinner, this fish dish became my favorite one. (Sorry, I don't remember the name of the dish) Dim lighting + candles in this place could possibly make this a romantic date spot. I brought my then 10 month old son with us - they had a very sturdy high chair (YES!). I wouldn't say this is the best place to take a child but we were able to manage. And since the place had dim lighting, he was able to fall asleep in my arms.

Yelp
Oh. My. Mouth. This place set it on FIRE. We went on a Sunday evening for a friend's bday. Super easy to get a reservation, and they take Entertainer app so yeaaaaaah. My homie lived in China and loves Sichuan food so we let her order . . . it was delish but you reeeeally need to have a cold drink with it. Everything we had was super yummy. Come in stretchy pants.

Yelp
Came here because I do like my Sichuan food, so always willing to try new places and saw the place from the tram. Taste wise, not too much different to the mainland (so spiciness is the real deal). Amazing service (generally i don't comment much on service in HK) and location. Also the decor here is nice too. Yes this place might be pricey, but this place also has lunch specials for those willing to try without splashing out. It's also not that busy at lunchtime too so you can walk in.

Yelp
This is one of my new favorite Szechuan places in Hong Kong. The staff really tries to please, they squeezed us in at 8:00 on a Saturday night -- and the restaurant was super crowded with Mainlanders and locals Hong Kong, including us. The chili chicken was delicious, although I would like the pieces to be a bit bigger -- because when they are too small, they are either dry or greasy. We tried something from each section, loved the chili dumplings, the noodle dishes, and the best Szechuan tofu I have ever tasted. Will definitely be back!

Yelp
Chicken was good and the chilli dumplings were fantastic. I would liked bigger slices of the chicken...still good.

Hari J.

Yelp
Came here due to its Michelin star.. table booked for 9.30... ordered starter and mains.. everything arrived at once (not before being told it's last orders)... food ok, ridiculous amount of chillies (see photo) We love spicy food but this was ridiculous... bill came as we were starting to have our mains.... totally rushed experience, adjacent outdoor tables wiped and stacked as we were still eating . I just cannot fathom how any of this experience is compatible with 1 Michelin star- maybe the bar is lower in Asia compared to Europe... I would not come back here, nor recommend it for the experience- food (minus chillies) was ok, if a little cold by the time we had it....spend your money elsewhere for sure...

Yelp
The food here doesn't taste authentic. At least for the spicy chicken 辣子雞 very bad. Meat Pieces were too big so they were not crispy enough. There were not enough pepper corns in the dish either. I've had this dish with boneless chicken in other restaurants but this by far is one of the worst i've tasted. The kong po shrimp doesn't taste anything but spicy and the sizzling lamb plate taste too salty like those I would have in Americanized Chinese restaurant back in the US. No wonder I look around me all the people dining there are none chinese speaking tourists.

Yelp
If you like spicy food, this is the place for you. Everything was fantastic. We ordered a little bit of everything, which is a good way to go here. The beef (suggested by our waiter), the crispy shrimp, and the noodles stand out in my mind. They deserve ALL of their Michelin stars. :)

Yelp
Food was amazing! Favorite restaurant in HK. We got the eggplant and mala chicken. We ate both with egg fried rice!

Yelp
I consider myself to be a relatively food conscious person and living in NYC and Chicago the past few years prepared me well for the Hong Kong food scene. While nearly everything I ate over the course of my visit was delicious - Qi stood out as far and away my favorite meal. I would be shocked if you didn't feel the same way. The meal started out with a bit of an intro to the varying times of 'heat-level' (unknown to me beforehand) which turned out to be critical in selecting the rest of the meal. The Chili Oil Wontons essentially come in a pool of the traditional red chili oil, delicious and hot, yet not overwhelming. The lettuce wraps (with chicken) - also delicious - provided a bit of cooling relief before going to the Sugar Glazed Ginger and Scallion Beef. The combination of sweet and heat in this dish was unlike anything I've ever had before, and it alone would justify returning to this restaurant. Bring it all together and it was one of the best meals of my life and I have already told about 30 people to put it on their list in Hong Kong - you will not regret doing so too.

Yelp
The food is very spicy but flavorful here. We tried several dishes and they were all excellent. My suggestion would be if you order a spicy dish then pick a non spicy dish to go with it to balance out the flavors. We has the hot and sour soup, egg fried rice and spicy chicken. We also tried the spicy chilly fried rice and the fried noodles which were good. The fried noodles are the crispy noodles here. This is very close to the Chinese food in India so I left feeling very satisfied :-) . If you are not a big fan of chilly peppers you can choose to order your food without it as well.

Yelp
Extraordinary. Delicious. Great and friendly service. Definitely can see why it was Michelin recommend! Qi House of Sichuan

Yelp
If you're a fan of Sichuan food then this is definitely worth trying. Some of the dishes were so spicy that they completely knocked me for 6 but they tasted so good that I kept going back for me.
