"This bustling Madison Heights Vietnamese restaurant is known for its pho, but it also makes a mean banh mi. The soft French rolls come filled with plenty of veggies, herbs, and protein like pork belly or chicken. Place orders by phone for takeout or dine-in." - Serena Maria Daniels

"With only a few tables, this go-to Vietnamese restaurant can get quite packed during the lunch and dinner rushes but it's worth the wait. The pho — served in several varieties with mix-ins like tripe and tendon — is always swimming in well-balanced, flavorful broth. It’s also available in different sizes, a nice feature for those who can't slurp their way through a gigantic bowl by themselves. In addition to the soup, this restaurant whips up a mean banh mi, plus plenty of other rice and noodle dishes worth trying. Service is efficient and friendly." - Dorothy Hernandez, Serena Maria Daniels

"Que Huong is a staple among Vietnamese restaurants in Madison Heights serving favorites like pho and iced coffee. It sets itself apart from the crowd with the important inclusion of banh mi on the menu. The restaurant also serves several different kinds of bún (dried rice noodles and rice noodle soups) and rice dishes such as broken rice with shredded pork skin, grilled pork, egg meatloaf, and fried egg. In the past, the restaurant was known to attract lines and pack customers into the cramped dining room, but now customers mainly order by phone or online through Doordash." - Eater Staff, Dorothy Hernandez

Google
Cute little spot with an extensive menu, and reasonably priced. We liked all of our selections, I recommend the double noodle pho. Also it was busy the entire time, a good sign of an authentic meal. Plenty of parking!

Google
Small hole-in-the-wall (but clean and nice) with some of the best pho I've had in the metro area. The fried spring rolls were super great, too. We'll have to come back again and try the rice or noodle dishes.

Google
Good food. Great prices. Value for your money and the flavours are authentic. Portions were perfect. The staff/owner was quick and very friendly. Seating is limited. But worth the wait. The customers don’t take too long to stay and dine if they see people waiting.

Google
The Bún bò Huế was excellent. They offered it with the concealed pork blood, which I feel is the only way to have this dish. I was super excited for that, as I live in Lake Orion and have found that most places around here do not have it with the blood. The broth was excellent and had a perfect balance of heat (it is listed as spicy on the menu). I also liked that they offered a smaller and larger size bowl. The staff were very friendly. The restaurant was very busy when I went and there is not a ton of seating but I didn't have to wait. There was also a lot of to go orders during my visit. I will definitely be going back and can't wait to try their other offerings.

Google
Probably the best authentic Vietnamese restaurant in town! Pho topping was kinda cheap out but the flavour was amazing! Spring rolls were good! Chicken lemongrass stir fry was good too. Definitely go back! Might have to go early to get the seats tho since the restaurant is super small and there are only about 10 tables.

Google
Delicious Pho! Perfect broth and fresh ingredients. They seat you quickly, take your order right away and the food arrives shortly. It’s far out of the way from me and I still make the trek because it’s that good.

Google
Ordered Bun Bo Hue minus pork. It’s pretty good. Overall, a small hole in the wall type of restaurant, but very clean inside. The service was quick and friendly. Owner can come across abrupt but he’s not mean or rude in anyway, just doesn’t “smile”, maybe that’s just his persona. I asked for extra lime and they didn’t charge me, unlike some other places that nickel and dime for extra condiments or garnishes. Just take note its likely that your clothes will smell like Vietnamese cooking when you leave the restaurant - due to the kitchen being so nearby and not closed off. Will return when I feel like eating pho.

Google
This place is so packed! It’s tiny with little seating but it’s always a line. I can tell why, the pho is good. The broth is very comforting and authentic. We tried the quail as a specialty app and it was very flavorful and tender. The banh mi was okay… the bread was not as good and too much mayonnaise. But over all it was really good and can tell it was authentic.

Wood W.

Yelp
Best pho place in metro Detroit. Outstanding family run Vietnamese restaurant in very small store front, but the tables turn quickly. I particularly like the #46 marinated fried quail. My wife loves the #10 Pho Tai with sliced beef and the #6 spring rolls.

Matthew N.

Yelp
With quite a few South East Asian choices in the area, Que Hmong hits the mark. Fresh, abundant and authentic Pho and Rice/Vermicelli plates. Busy, smallish seating area that is very affordable. Try the others then come over to the real deal.

Jennifer M.

Yelp
My partner and I always joke around about them closing for days during the holidays, but in all honesty it does make us sad because we're truly waiting for them to come back from their vacation so we can eat their delicious pho!! Extensive menu but we get the same thing (all.the.time), #10 and #11, sometimes with egg rolls. Their broth is always on point. Truly the best pho that we've ever had (and we love trying different Vietnamese restaurants). Reasonable prices, food is always impeccable, friendly family owned restaurant. Service is fast and efficient. Often have to wait for a seat to dine in since it's a smaller restaurant with limited seatings... but the wait is worth it! I often order food for carry out and they always packed the item with care. Que Huong is always busy for a reason!

Maria Z.

Yelp
Great service Delicious food Very well prepared. The food was in perfect temperature and they had the best Vietnamese quail! I would definitely recommend

Yelp
Que Huong is my favorite viet restaurant in the Detroit Metro area. Everything is extremely flavorful, served fast, and cheap. It hits the spot every time and there is something for everyone, especially if you're trying to try other vietnamese dishes that are not just Pho (but don't worry their pho is also delicious). Nothing is too greasy, and everything tastes really fresh.

Anne C.

Yelp
Hidden gem. Absolutely amazing pho and service. The owner is so kind. We were with a group of people and food came out really quickly.

Erica C.

Yelp
This place, this place, this place!! Incredible Pho. The broth is super flavorful, the portion sizes are great, ask for extra meat if you want that. My family of 4 came to dine here and the service was incredible as was the food. So much so that I came back the very next day! The best Pho in the city HANDS DOWN!

Jason C.

Yelp
Their pho broth was awesome! Not sweet, just perfect for my taste... I'll have to say it's best pho broth I had to date. If I could just drink the broth itself, I would :) The #39-Bun Bo Hue, the spicy with thick noodle was okay. The broth reminded me of the tum yum soup, had bit of sourness to it.... if I had to chose between the pho and #39, I'll go with the pho. Summer roll was decent, spring roll was good. I would also recommend #42, first time trying this and would definitely reorder this if I return. Next time, will need to try some of their rice dishes!

Anna V.

Yelp
Yummy pho and fast service! My friend and I were in and out within an hour and I even got pho and 2 bang mi to take home - to go orders were well packed. This is my favorite place for pho - it can get very busy tho due to small seating area. There is another menu section for vegan option but I forgot to take photos of that side.

Ailun H.

Yelp
Que Huong was my go-to in high school and even in college. Their pho was the best in the area. I haven't been back for a long time (last time was definitely before COVID) but I finally stopped by with my family this past Sunday for lunch. Somehow, all 10 of us were able to fit during 11 AM. PHO DAC BIET - 13.50 They have a variety of sizes, but their default is medium. The broth was light and the only flavors I could taste was salt and MSG. I couldn't really taste the beef or beef bone in this broth and the noodles were on the soggier side. My cousin also didn't think the noodles soaked up the broth very well. I felt like the brisket and flank were pretty tough. Overall, it was very mediocre. It was definitely better in the day and I hate to give it a 3/5. I did have a lot of fond memories here over a decade ago.

Rebecca R.

Yelp
I haven't had bad pho anywhere on John R in Madison Heights. The pho scene in this neighborhood is solid AF. Que Huong is very good, very busy and a little small. Come, wait and roll up your sleeves. Eat pho. You'll be happier when you do. Whenever thing else in life sucks turn to food. Food doesn't have to suck.

Albert T.

Yelp
Que Huong is a small restaurant, with less than a dozen tables all crammed close together so there's barely enough room to move the chairs. As you walk though the entrance, you can catch a glimpse through the doorway of the kitchen, with huge stockpots on the stove boiling away. One of the walls is lined with photos of menu items, and a small television plays on mute. The menus themselves are found underneath the glass topper at each table. On our recent visit, the clientele seemed to be mostly non-Vietnamese, which is a bit different from the other Vietnamese restaurants we've been to in the area. The restaurant was about half full of people slurping away on their piping hot bowls of noodles. We ordered two noodle soups: #8 Pho Dac Biet ($13.50) - The standard size is hefty. The broth is aromatic, which you can boost further with the thai basil offered on the side. As typical of pho, you can further customize with the standard plate of sliced jalapenos, bean sprouts, lime, and shredded cabbage. The bowl arrives piping hot, which helps soften whichever vegetables you add in. The noodles are appropriately cooked - you just need to make sure to eat them fast before they start to become mushy as they soak up more of the liquid. In terms of meat, there is some thinly sliced raw beef added in before serving. It gets cooked in the residual heat of the broth, but still retains some pink portions because the broth isn't quite hot enough to fully cook it well done. The color of the beef is a bit puzzling; it seemed a bit too light and pasty colored, rather than the darker brown we expected to see. We actually thought they had accidentally added pork at first. In addition to the sliced brisket, there are thin shreds of tripe, slices of shank, small pieces of tendon, and halved beef meatballs. Some of the meat was quite tough, especially the shank, some of the brisket, and several pieces of the tripe. #39 Bun Bo Hue ($13.50) - The broth is pretty rich, with a lemongrassy and herbal flavor that hits your tongue first, followed by the rich msg/bone base, and finally a bit of spice last that rounds out each sip. The soup is by far the best part of the dish - unfortunately things fall apart quickly from there. The rice noodles are very undercooked, resulting in a firm texture that in the middle almost seems to be raw. Some of the the meat quality in this dish is also questionable. The pork knuckle is fine - good porky flavor, cartilaginous, a bit tough in the meaty portions. There are are couple of slices of chả lụa which is pretty standard. I don't particularly like pork blood and I won't comment on that. The main problem is, like the pho, I found the sliced beef shank to be way too tough for that cut of meat. This is an indication that it isn't stewed long enough to break down all the connective tissue. Que Huong has a great broth base, but unfortunately the ingredients they add into that broth don't match up as well. I think overall the food that we had was just okay.

Jay J.

Yelp
Best Vietnamese restaurant in town. Love their pho or bun. Always fresh and tasty. The owner is friendly and they provide good service.

Claudia K.

Yelp
Best pho around, hands down. The vegan broth is so good that I didn't believe it was vegan the first time I had it! Also recommend the vermicelli. If you sit down it's a small space -- think hole in the wall / secret gem / neighborhood bar / "everybody knows your name" vibes. I hope it never changes. Carry out is swift and affordable. Highly recommend.

Ben V.

Yelp
The pho here was amazing! Also had the bahn mi which was very good. It's a small place so you might have to wait a little to get a table. The service was great and our food was ready very quickly. Highly recommend coming here if you like Vietnamese food.

Felix S.

Yelp
pho is absolutely delicious. when i went here i wasnt allowed to sit down so i had to do takeout, but i didnt really mind that.

Jena B.

Yelp
Que Huong is a small spot in a non-descriptive strip mall off of John R. Road. You can miss it if you are looking for something bigger, but you wouldn't want to do that! Was motivated to try something new for lunch since I love Vietnamese cuisine. They serve Banh Mi and Pho, in addition to other rice and noodle dishes. The food was good, the service was fast and the place stayed busy! I will definitely be back to try some of the smoothies (Durian, avocado, sour sop).

Arelys Q.

Yelp
This was our first time here. We came on a Saturday evening close to 7pm. Although the place was packed with people we only waited like 5 minutes to be seated. This place is a hole in the wall, family owned restaurant. The food is authentic, delicious, and the prices are very reasonable. Service was quick and our server was great. We ordered spring rolls, the peanut sauce was too watered down to my liking. I've always had it creamy at other places and prefer it that way. My husband ordered the fried rice and I ordered rice with Korean bbq beef. Both were delicious. I will definitely come back before returning home. Please note they DO NOT take Amex cards.

Bridgette Z.

Yelp
One of, if not THE, best pho spots in Oakland county. The owner is always there taking orders and serving food quickly. He is so friendly too. I always get the chicken bahn mi which is only $5 and so so good. I also get the #10 which is just pho with beef slices. I think they have the best broth ever, it's always so aromatic and flavorful.

Mike T.

Yelp
Best pho in town I'd been to pho restaurants all over the country and this is still the best I've ever had and great people and very friendly

Sari G.

Yelp
Small authentic Vietnamese pho place. If you like hole in the wall places, you will love this one. I am not that big of a fan of this type of place but for a cold day, a big bowl of soup did hit the spot. They should update the inside. It could be better decorated. My husband is a big fan of the food. I'm not too adventurous of an eater and I didn't hate it!

John H.

Yelp
This is my second time at this spot. I have only tried their bun (cold noodle with toppings), but my friend comes weekly for their pho. This time I had the everything option. It's a simple dish and it comes down to the toppings and dressing. Spring rolls were good, and the grilled pork could use more char but nice marinade, and the shrimp was so-so. I have to remind myself to do takeout at this spot because it feels cramped. Prices are very reasonable. Since it is a smaller place, the menu is mostly variations of the aforementioned.

Michael T.

Yelp
Had #10 pho with sliced beef. I ordered extra broth because I had already made a meat dish at home and this was going to be a small side soup for two. Extra broth (quart) was 5$. Takeout. The pho was everything i could ask for - comforting, fragrant, light yet flavorful, contained a good mixture of veggies. Noodles nice and chewy. We actually didn't even have the other quart of pho b/c one was enough given I made ribs at home. You didn't need to add anything extra such as sriracha or hoisin to the pho. It was that good by itself. Takeout containers were well secured to prevent leakage despite falling over couple times in car. It stayed hot and was steamy even after 45 min post pickup and didn't require rewarming. They were busy but on time for my order. Will be back to try other pho flavors and /or vermicelli bowls.

Joanne T.

Yelp
It was busy during lunch on a Monday. Service is minimal and straightforward. The food was good and fairly priced. Bun bo hue was as expected, but could be a little more spicy. Pho was good, but could use a little more meat. The broth was light and aromatic. The goi (lotus root salad) was fresh and flavorful.

Chris C.

Yelp
Absolutely love this place no ambiance but great service nice workers great food very cheap but good quality. I'm obsessed with their summer rolls I get them on my way to work all the time healthy good energy and protein

Alyssa S.

Yelp
This place is always busy but the service is very fast. The pho broth is comforting especially on a cold fall day. And the egg roll appetizer is a good accompaniment to any meal.

Michael F.

Yelp
Great value and very fresh tasting. Shrimp and noodles were cooked just right. The chili condiment on the table is extra special!

Ayano N.

Yelp
The best Vietnamese food I've had in the area. This family run restaurant might not have the "look" in terms of ambiance, but the food speaks for itself. The spring rolls we had were fresh and light. Their peanut sauce was amazing - wish we could buy it by the jar. Their broth for the soup noodles has just the right flavor and you can tell it's made through the family by scratch. It's a bit hole in the wall ish, but let's be real, these are the places you find the best food.

Hari T.

Yelp
Best pho in town! Great service, the space was clean and the price was fair. This will be my regular spot going forward.

Eric W.

Yelp
It's one of our go tos. The food is flavorful, different types of noodles (Pho, Bun Bo Hue) all hit the spot based of the type broth they used. And one of the few places with banh cuon rolls. Last and certainly not least, their prices are great.

Jeongmin H.

Yelp
Small and cozy restaurant with delicious authentic Vietnamese food. Was craving pho for the longest time and this REALLY hit the spot. Tried bun rieu (crab and tomato noodle soup) for the first time, which I was intimidated by at first because I don't like tomatoes, but was very pleasantly surprised! The mix of tangy, savory, and salty was *chef's kiss*. On top of these 4 dishes, we also got 2 bahn mis - everything came out to just $100 (20 per person)! 100% will be returning here.

mean M.

Yelp
Great food and service would recommnd. Their rice surprisingly is really good and I love almost everything on the menu except their tripe.

Lesley S.

Yelp
Hands down best Vietnamese food in SE Michigan and you can't beat the prices. Delicious hole in the wall.

Jackey A.

Yelp
The food was amazing the service was fast! The ambiance isn't amazing but that wasn't an issue considering the food! Pho was on point with flavors.

Joanna F.

Yelp
We came here after the lunch rush but the restaurant was still packed. It's a pretty compact restaurant but well situated. Ordered pho with sliced beef, combination pho, BBQ pork bahn mi and spring rolls. All really fresh, tasty with flavorful pho broth. Friendly owner with great service, a plus!

David M.

Yelp
Que Huong is another restaurant that has been near the top of my list for quite a while but we seemed to always pick someplace else. Today, for our monthly gathering with friends for lunch, we decided that this was the place! There were only four of us, which worked out well as six or more would have been a bit tricky due to Covid. The dining area is on the smaller side with tables set mostly for four. Once we were seated, we noticed menus were placed under the glass on the tabletop. As is often the case, my wife and I had already studied the photos, reviews, and menus on Yelp and were ready to order. We both are familiar with and like many Vietnamese dishes. We ordered Chicken Pho, Spring Rolls, and a Bahn Mi Sandwich and we shared all back and forth. Others ordered variations of Pho and Spring Rolls. Our orders came out relatively quickly, beginning with the Spring Rolls. Because of my peanut allergy, I skipped the peanut dipping sauce and just used Hoisin Sauce, which is usually the base for the Peanut Sauce. They were filled with fresh ingredients and went well with the dipping sauce. Then the Pho and Bahn Mi came out and...whoa! The pho was very large (was told it was medium) and was enough for two without the extra items we ordered. It was loaded with chickeny goodness and flavor and the fresh veggies to add really hit the spot. I grabbed (lifted from the plate) the Bahn Mi Sandwich and took my first bite: nice crunch of the bread, combined with the crunch of the fresh veggies, and the flavor of the Pork with a hint of spicyness made it a great choice. Service was perfect amount of attention and letting us visit, and water glasses were kept full.

Isaak S.

Yelp
Great portions, speedy efficient service, family rooted. Another great Madison heights hidden gem great for phö and viet sandwiches

Arturo F.

Yelp
Best Pho in the area! I usually get their Pho Tai Bo Vien, but you really can't go wrong with any of their options. Portions are huge, and the price is extremely reasonable (it's cheaper and better than Ima just up the road). Please note that if you get it to-go, the sliced beef won't be cooked. It's so thin that by putting it in the hot broth, it'll cook in less than a minute. So, don't freak out haha, but eat it as soon as you get home!

Melissa C.

Yelp
This is my go to pho! Fresh rolls and Vietnamese egg rolls! Avocado smoothie and Vietnamese iced coffee! Delicious!!! I love this place! And I'm a foodie and not all food is good! It has to actually be good for me to enjoy it or I'll just pass. I love a good mom and pop restaurant over chain restaurants ever single day of the week! This place is that. They are a husband wife run little slice of Vietnam and I love it!

Anna N.

Yelp
Service was great and everything that we ordered (bun riêu, bạnh mi, phố đặc biệt, cơm chiên) satisfied all my cravings small and intimate building with an authentic Vietnamese feel!

Lawrence S.

Yelp
Pho is amazing, and so is everything on the menu. The customer service was outstanding. Small place but don't let that stop you from going in and having an amazing meal.

Sandra B.

Yelp
Excellent food! Great service! Very clean establishment! This is a definitely an established worth recommending!

Ser L.

Yelp
Delicious and authentic. Love their Bun Bo Hue, the broth is full of flavour. Service is quick but friendly.

Liz P.

Yelp
So keep in mind this review is from a gringo who has never had pho before ... I was told that Que Huong was the best, so we ventured down there today for dinner. It's a tiny place, maybe 8-10 tables. We only had to wait about 15 minutes though which was good. Waitstaff is extremely quick about clearing tables once people leave, so the turnover rate is fast. I had scoped out the menu online ahead of time, but the banh mi's are not really listed ... they have four of them, I think BBQ beef (what we ordered), chicken, regular beef, and one other. If you ask your waiter/waitress they will tell you the choices. We were primarily there for pho, though, and I got #10, which was just beef and noodles. My boyfriend got #8, which had beef, noodles, flank, tendon, trip, and beef meatballs, according to the menu. The broth was VERY flavorful, and they bring you a plate of jalapeños, fresh basil, and sprouts. A friend had advised me beforehand to mix in what I want into the broth, and let the sprouts kind of absorb the broth, and it was very tasty. I didn't think the beef itself was that flavorful, but I put some hoisin sauce on it, and it probably did absorb some of the broth flavoring. I've had better banh mi sandwiches, but the bread was very crusty and delicious, and the sandwich itself was very good ... and a bargain, I think it was like $3.50 or $4. I'd definitely stop by again just to get a sandwich to-go. I will say if you can't do spicy foods like me, ask for NO JALAPENOS, because I didn't know it had some and then my mouth was on fire ... Unrelated to the food, the bathroom is located through the back, and was kind of cold (yes, it's winter...) - go to the back of the restaurant and through the red door there, then keep going, it's a onesie but there's a sign for it. Overall, this place probably gets 4/5 or 4.5/5 stars from me. I want to try other pho places in the area now but I was told this was one of the best, if not the best, so we'll see how the other ones measure up.

Hinna S.

Yelp
We went here to try the pho!! As a vegetarian it can be hard to find a vegetarian broth- but I have to say I was so so so impressed by how delicious and fresh the pho was!! It was warm, the restaurant is comfy and can get busy pretty quickly! Overall, we will be back again!

Rebecca X.

Yelp
After reading various reviews claiming that Que Huong is the best pho place in Michigan, I knew I had to try them out. I was not disappointed! I knew right after I walked in that this place would be legit. The decor was small and humble, but clean. The tables all had a glass covering with menus underneath so no need to touch any menus. And for extra safety, there were big plastic dividers between the tables. I got pho dac biet. The broth was lighter and clearer than what I'm used to but it still packed a powerful punch of flavor. I definitely did not feel the need to add any extra sauces. My one critique would be that the sliced beef came out fully cooked so it was a bit less tender.

Mary Z.

Yelp
The absolute best and most authentic Pho in Michigan! Their broth is so tasty and satisfies that yearning for comfort food. I love a bowl of Pho when it's chilly outside. It's basically a small mom and pop shop with limited seating so recommend getting take out unless you come at an odd hour where it's not as busy.

Jason X.

Yelp
Hot pho on a cold winter day is a great combo! Small spot but fast service so the wait isn't that bad (at least when we went). There's really only room for one large group though. Very affordable. This is the best pho I've had in Michigan, but nowhere near the best in the country like some reviews are claiming. Specifically, the meat quality could be better - the beef slices weren't that tender.

eric w.

Yelp
Ordered their banh mi sandwich, pho special, pork chop rice with steam egg, and egg rolls petitioner. Flavor is definitely on point and portions are good. Sandwich is definitely on the less expensive side, priced at $5.50
