Seattle’s 12 Best Farmers Markets to Discover This Fall | Eater

"Proudly the only independent farmers market in the city, the Queen Anne market was started by a group of local citizens who decided that it was truly what the neighborhood needed. That grassroots feeling still pervades, with neighborhood chefs doing cooking demos, lots of unique vendors who haven’t made it into the larger markets (artisanal chocolate milk from Bellflower, for example), and a big prepared foods area where neighbors gather for their Thursday evening meal around the long family-style table." - Vox Creative

Google
One of our favorite neighborhood farmers markets, this one doesn’t have an over abundance of food vendors to fresh produce vendors, but just the right mix. It’s also not as crowded as some of the other farmers markets in the area. They are open from 3-7:30 PM on Thursdays, from June through October (exact dates vary each year).

Google
Great farmers market in the area. Has food trucks and nice selection of fresh products.

Google
Great little summertime, block-long farmer market’s, with vendors from Whidbey, Vashon and a variety of other local sources. In the fall, the market has continued as the Queen Anne Harvest Market.

Google
Wonderful place to have a quick snack and shop for all kinds of local delicacies! From fruits, berries, vegetables and herbs to bread, cider, honey and flowers! It's sooooo good!!!

Kian Yong Lim

Google
Good selection of local produce. It has a musician tent at the end beside the food trucks which is great for relaxing while having a meal.

Google
I love the Queen Anne Farmers market. Great produce, baked goods, meat, eggs, honey, cheese & flowers. All my favorite vendors are there and so pleasant to interact with. I look forward to this every week in the summer. So nice to support small local businesses. The food trucks are not to be missed. Nice chance to dine al fresco and catch up with friends. There is even music.

Google
Great experience. Nice people..... Too spendy!

Google
This farmers market is great! It's very small so don't expect to spend hours walking about. Can do the whole things in about 15 minutes. The live music was amazing and tons of activities for children. If you have kids this is a must. Lots of good food trucks and organic vegetables and fruits

Yelp
What a great family-friendly farmers market on Thursdays from 3pm-7:30pm. Not only are there two streets of farmers, makers, and other vendors, but there's a lot for kids to experience. Our eight-year-old daughter ended up spending two hours here doing math challenges at a math booth, tasting local produce to earn $2 to buy from a farmer, doing a produce scavenger hunt, and enjoying balloon art. She absolutely loved it!

Yelp
We're now huge fans of Queen Anne's. We've run into our neighbors here and made new friends too! We've only been here on a few Thursday evenings, it's something we look forward to and try to allot more time for. The deals aren't always the greatest but the products are fresh and the selection is vast. Everything from meats and cheeses to baked goods, produce and flowers. We even have our favourite food trucks. It's actually more than just exchanging goods. They're attempting to promote community spirit and fellowship. See you next Thursday! 07/25

Yelp
Love the farmers market and the outlet they provide! Grab your veggies, fruit and many other local items here. The organic produce is worth a visit here.

Yelp
This farmers market is pretty unreal. It consistently has the best produce, food trucks, and various other things like desserts and specialty items. It's an afternoon/evening market which is lovely, especially in the summer. And the big playfield is able to house what feels like 1 million people. It runs from 3-7:30 until the fall, then it ends at 7 pm. The variety keeps me coming back every Thursday, even though it can be very tough to decide between such food trucks as Kiss My Grits, Falafel Salaam, Tandoozi, and the newest bestest one - Provisions! Plenty of ice cream, popsicles etc. too for the dessert/cooling off moment. Plenty of bakery items, flowers, and of course fruits and veggies. You can easily find parking within a few short blocks, so that's never a worry.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite farmers markets in Seattle based on the number of food trucks that show up! I can't speak to any of the produce or other raw goods (sorry!) I think last time I went, 12 food trucks were there. Way more than any other farmers markets or weekly gathering! As you can imagine, the quality can vary. stuff tried 314 Pie- nice savory pies!! Off the REZ- they need to put more savory things into the fry bread! Strooplewaffle cookies-Go to strooplewaffle tent! made to order and incredible! chicarepa- okay. wish they went back to topping with queso fresca instead of shredded cheese stuff I was too full to try tandoozy- large naan bread topped with all sorts of curry goodness! next time! veraci pizza- seen at many other farmers markets Sort of a weird time slot for when they are open (3pm-7pm) on thursday. There is some tables available but there are also more options to find a bench since its by one of the community centers. Check it out before the season ends!

Yelp
I am sad that the market season ended on October 15th since I totally enjoyed the ever changing lineup of vendors that were featured. Old favorites like Los Agaves and Tandoozy are still fixtures, but new places (to me) included Soda Jerk, Ellenos Greek Yogurt, Mad Dawg's and Lily's Salvadorean Catering . It is great that QAFM is well attended and still has that family atmosphere. It is too bad it isn't year-round like a couple of other markets around town like Ballard and University District. | | ------CROCKETT STREET | | | | | | _____________ | |_____________ QUEEN ANNE AVE N _____________ ______________ | | | | | | | | | |

Yelp
Produce - ehhhh. Actual food - ahhhh. This Farmer's Market is such a convenient hop, skip, and jump from the family's house! Veraci's Pizza- It is worth its own bullet point. I know they are at lots of the farmer's markets, but this is maybe the best thin crust pizza I have eaten since Italy! Such fresh ingredients, and I love watching them bake right there. A very cool set up! Plus, you can stand there in the warmth of the pizza oven on a cold day - heavenly! Mexican food, Indian food, ice cream, Asian, healthy bowls - you can find something for everyone at this Farmer's Market. The Queen Anne Farmer's Market, honestly, reminds me of the foods trucks coming into town (minus the trucks in some cases LOL).

Yelp
A great farmers market! We were starved, and so more focused on the food trucks than the produce/flower vendors. The options were impressive, with probably a dozen vendors in a compact, accessible space. Choices ranged from Indonesian to gyros, Indian and latke-based sandwiches. Vendor were friendly and willing to explain their food and drink. One odd quirk that wasn't helpful -- apparently some kind of no-compete thing keeps multiple vendors from selling bottled water, or so we were told. It was inconvenient to have to search out the "water guy." All in all, it's a charming farmers market staffed by nice people in a great setting.

Yelp
I loved everything about this Farmers Market. Despite the rain, the vendors were out in force, selling their wares and interacting with the lovely Queen Anne community. There seemed to be more pros dedicated towards selling actual meals (tacos, sandwiches, clay oven pizza, smoothies) than raw produce and farm fresh items, but I think I prefer that. I want instant gratification in all parts of my life, including my farmers markets. In any event, head by with a reusable shopping bag and embrace local food.

Yelp
I love the queen Anne farmers market!!! It's always bustling with fresh veggies and fruits and lots of food. My only gripe is the produce is a little pricey, but the plus side is that it tastes so delish!! The flower vendor has amazing flower bouquets! A great place to catch up with neighbors!

Yelp
You won't want to come here with a long list of things to buy, there are only a few vendors with a few bins of vegetables fruits and cheese. You will want to come here when you couldn't schlep yourself out of bed for the earlier markets, it's dinnertime, and you're asking "where ya at Matt?" Queen Anne piles in all the best food trucks: Where Ya At, Maximus Minimus, Veraci's Pizza Oven, Buns on Wheels, Anita's Crepes & Parfait Artisan Icecream. Grab a bite, chat with friends and listen to local performing artists. You will never again have to ask yourself what's for dinner come Thursday evening on the hill.

Yelp
Queen Anne Farmer's market should probably be renamed Queen Anne Dinner market.... The good: --FOOD TRUCKS! They have a decent pod of food trucks at the event, including fun ones like Sweet Lil Cakes. --Food Stalls - lots of places to get dinner throughout the market The Not so Good: --Parking is TERRIBLE. There is no dedicated lot, so street parking is the only option in a neighborhood that has limited street parking already --Produce is limited. I went for groceries and came away with food truck fare (which was tasty! but not the point...) This is a great place to socialize, sit in the grass and eat. Recommend for a Thursday afternoon if you are already in the neighborhood.

Yelp
The only reason it's not 5 stars is because of its paltry size. Don't get me wrong - what vendors they do have are excellent! The quality of produce available here is so much better than the Redmond Town Center, Bellevue, or even the West Seattle Farmer's Markets. RTC has more kitschy crafts, Bellevue seems to have more commercial goods, and WS has an over-abundance of flowers. I stopped by here on a whim - I didn't even know it existed before driving by. I'm like one of those garage sale nuts who troll through neighborhoods on Sundays; only I do the Farmer's Markets. I saw a covered booth with piles of leafy greens and I screeched my car to a halt. I ran to the Safeway to get some cash and a'shopping I went! Butter lettuce, salad greens, asparagus, beautiful strawberries, big colorful radishes.. you name it! I probably bought more vegetables than I can eat, which just means dinner party for my friends. Since when does one eat too many veggies, anyway? Be sure to check out the area to the south - the parking lot with bakeries and food vendors. I wasn't too fond of the bakery stuff, but I tried an Argentinian empanada - delicious, but overpriced at $3 for 1; and the thing was only about half the size of my palm. I snagged a homebrewed ginger beer - I love the stuff, but have yet to try this one. It's hard to go wrong with ginger beer, I think. Definitely stop at WhereYaAtMatt's food truck. OH MY GAWD DELICIOUS. I'm headed to write that review right now.... ;D

Yelp
I am quickly becoming a market geek! I spend my Thursdays deliberating whether I should have Patty Pan, Skillet or The Signature for dinner. After a cheap and delicious dinner I start to shop. The vendors are all so friendly and helpful. I've had a ton of fun making meals with market finds like gourmet cheese, wild caught salmon, salad mix with beautiful edible flowers and other locally grown fruits and veggies. I love this market! And to think that it almost didn't happen this year. Huge thanks to Julie and all the market friends for making this a success!
google avatar

Steven P.

Yelp
This market is unique from most farmer's markets I've frequented. The selections you will find here are, in my opinion, worth the visit alone. While some things seem a bit pricey, there are just as many great deals. And for the quality, I'm sure the prices are worth it. There is also a selection of delicious foods made ready to eat that are probably the main attraction keeping people coming back week after week! The biggest drawback is the size. It's definitely the smallest market I know of. This results in what is actually a pretty small variety of things to spend your money on, as well as feeling pretty cramped if you show up during peak times.
google avatar

Yelp
Not too big..not too small..just right! I'm not a big fan of the larger size farmer's markets. There is too much useless crap. I want local fruits, veggies, and meats, not yarn and hats and what not. With the smaller markets, it's almost a waste of time because there are only a few vendors. Luckily, the Queen Anne Farmers Market is just the right size, taking up about a block and half. No yarn or knickknacks, just straight up fruit, veggie, and meat vendors. I'm also a big fan of all of the mobile food stands--Where Ya At Matt, Maximus Minimus, Veraci's, Buns on Wheels, Crepes, Parfait, Tamales, etc.
google avatar

Ali C.

Yelp
I love this smaller farmer's market because when you go you get a real sense of community. Everyone is very welcoming and willing to answer any and all of your questions. This is a pretty popular market for families because of the hours, I see a ton of families with kids coming from soccer practice to get dinner. I especially enjoy the layout, the food trucks and prepared food vendors snake around the back of the market and make a huge circle. It is pretty awesome! My only regret is that this market only runs through October.
google avatar

Andrew E.

Yelp
The vendors aren't particularly consistent, but there is usually a reasonable selection of baked goods and veggies/flowers, though I would be happier if I could reliably get meat, fish, and eggs here. Spartacus loves it because he hoovers the ground for dropped blackberries and gets thrown smoked salmon by his favorite vendor. A good overall effort for the first year, and I expect it can only grow and get better.
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Pretty small farmer's market, a block in length. Was surprised to see food trucks there, made the highlights of checking this out
google avatar

Yelp
Queen Anne Farmers Market is amazing! We went during a downpour and still there were vendors everywhere. From the amazing Juice Peddler to the tasty tacos at Los Agaves to the cooking demos to the mobile coal fired oven pizza to the arts and crafts, this farmers market is one of my favorite of all time! Good prices, friendly folks, and in such a nice area.

Yelp
This is a must for me every week when it is going. The QAFM is fantastic! The vendors are great, there are demos and lot of food trucks to have dinner at. Grab a blanket have some food and listen to music after you get your lovely produce and local goods. Get a Tandoozy if you can, they are THE BEST!

Yelp
Nestled just off Queen Anne Avenue, on West Crockett Street, the Queen Anne Farmers Market is held on Thursdays, from May through October. This quaint market offers a wealth of local, organic produce, a handful of bakeries and a number of niche food vendors. Rows of stalls spill over with luscious berries, ripe juicy stone fruit, crisp vibrant greens, a smattering of cheese purveyors and local bakeries offering crusty loaves of bread and buttery baked goods. The backdrop is decidedly immaculate with nary a stray napkin or wilted leaf of arugula to be found. In its entirety, the market graces one block and an adjacent lot where temptation runs deep amongst a myriad of prepared foods ranging from clay oven pizza to do-it-yourself bicycle powered smoothies. During our visit, my daughter and I divvyed up a pint of sweet, plump, local blueberries, indulged in yeasty soft pretzel knots and deep chocolate whisky cake from Columbia City Bakery, sampled surprisingly tasty gluten-free caprese pizza at a cooking demonstration and caught the tail end of a live Spilled Milk podcast featuring local authors, Matthew Amster-Burton and Molly Wizenberg. Round about six, the street was buzzing with a hungry dinner crowd, comprised primarily of families and empty nesters. Due to prior dinner plans, we could only scope out the scene in anticipation of future visits. We paused to gawk at a quirky food truck, artfully disguised as a larger than life aluminum pig, with massive snout protruding from the grate and two giant ears pointing skyward. Emblazoned on one side were the words, 'Maximus Minimus', a reference to their housemade hot and mild barbeque sauces. A chalkboard menu boasted all-natural pulled pork sandwiches, slaws and slices of a sweet treat dubbed sugar high pie. My daughter set her sights on Parfait, a tres chic ice cream truck with a tempting array of flavors featuring locally sourced, organic ingredients. If the steady line of ice cream hopefuls was any indication, Parfait is indeed very, very good. With their shop on wheels making its rounds throughout the city, it won't be long before our opinion is an educated one. The trek to Queen Anne proved a tad ambitious, particularly on a weekday afternoon. Neighborhood farmers markets are best suited to those living nearby. Traffic aside, it was worth the effort to witness another glowing example of our city's growing appreciation for local, organic food and farming. Shop your local farmers market; the rewarding way to put your money where your mouth is.

Yelp
When I am in Queen Anne, I really like going to this market, with the pooch on a Thursday afternoon. It may be small, but has plenty of fresh vegetables, fruits, cheese, flowers and some fish. Also, some good tasty food trucks. Nice crowd...check it out!
google avatar

Laura P.

Yelp
We look forward to Thursdays just so we can go the the Queen Anne Farmers Market and entertain baby. The space is packed with great stalls, fun musicians, and hot food. You'll find the usual suspects like organic produce, cheese, herbs, but also a flavored sea salts vendor, oysters, hot food, and a kick-ass gelato stand (Poco Carretto). Like much of Queen Anne, this is baby central! I love that I can take my m-i-l here and show her that other parents wear their babies, too.
google avatar

Yelp
I can't wait for this market to open up in 2010. There is plenty of parking on the the side streets because it's in a residential area. They also have the Skillet mobile kitchen that parks there that has the best hamburgers in the city with their bacon jam. They are a little pricey but your taste buds will thank you. Most of the people that help out are volunteers. It's a great place to take the kids for a stroll on Thursday afternoons.
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Yeah! My neighborhood has an excellent farmer's market. I love this market. It's small, but packed full of what I want. Fresh local produce, including cheese and great food to eat on site. Plus it 's a fantastic meeting spot to catch up with friends and neighbors. Love it.
google avatar

Cleo B.

Yelp
Tamales guy is dedicated! Each time different. Today, chicken with cabbage and squash and brussels sprouts with a pickle. Really creative.
google avatar

Christina B.

Yelp
This farmer's market is really finding it's own. Last time I was there it had grown, has more vendors, and even some guy playing funky music. It's nice to have something like this in the neighborhood, good fresh produce. Nice, friendly people. It's not the type of thing you would make a day of, but a very pleasant way to just get your shopping done.

Cher E.

Yelp
The Queen Anne Farmers Market was definitely a highlight of my recent trip to Seattle. I was on vacation, so it was totally cool to be munching on delicious, local, organic produce in the middle of the work week, but I wonder how everyone else there has the luxury of just chilling and hanging out on a Thursday afternoon. From beautiful berries to artisan cheeses to the pulled pork sandwich from Maximus Minimus to the do-it-yourself smoothies at the Juice Peddler, there is definitely something for everyone here. The flowers were gorgeous, they had fresh pizzas and so many other tasty treats to try. This is the perfect spot for both locals and tourists and I wish I lived closer.
google avatar

Orlene C.

Yelp
Fun activity for Thursday early evening if you live near Queen Anne. Great fresh fruits, veggies, and cheese. Live music and an a variety of food trucks to choose from. For dessert who can resist a practically no line Molly Moon stand for a pint container of one of their famous flavors such as salted caramel or their ice cream sandwich. The best ice cream sandwich I have ever had! I noticed that a lot of people including workers at the market were getting strawberry lemonade from the food truck across from buns on a wheels (I think it was maximus-minimus although their site mentions ginger or hibiscus Nectar lemonade). The strawberry lemonade could have been a summer day special.
google avatar

Tommy K.

Yelp
The QAFM is awesome but I also think the name is a bit misleading. Yes, there are some stands where you can buy produce and such but really this is more about the food trucks and if you read the reviews you'll see that that's what most people are discussing. Traditionally, when I think of a farmer's market I think of a place where I go to buy local grocery items and get a little meal on the side. Here it's the reverse ....you come for the food trucks and, oh by the way, I should pick up some peaches while I'm here.
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
great place for the family. and for munching. and hanging out with the neighbors and meeting new ones. I look forward to this weekly.
google avatar

Heather M.

Yelp
This is a pretty good Farmers market for food trucks and music. I wasn't to crazy about the produce part of the market. I much prefer the Wallingford market on Wednesdays for the produce plus Whidbey ice cream is there. The parking is not so stellar either.
google avatar

Ash V.

Yelp
Love the market. Small but plenty of great vendors. Love the meats, cheese, vegetables and the food trucks. Everyone is friendly and very accommodating. My dog loves the market too!!

Anita L.

Yelp
I'm really surprised at the number of people saying that there aren't enough produce vendors. There's over a dozen - how many more do you want? Anyway, I love this market. Yes, it's small, but it has an abundance of locally grown fruits, vegetables, some cheeses, meats, eggs, wine, flowers and baked goods. I usually spend about $30 and am stocked up for the week!
google avatar

John P.

Yelp
Amazing neighborhood farmers market with unique vibe. Great market place feel with lots of local food & music & events. Great location. Several neighbors have told me that they end up going to the market by circumstance as they happen to be driving or walking by and think "Oh yeah! Our market is open today!"
google avatar

Nicole P.

Yelp
this summer's farmers market is rockin. i usually find myself leaving the area to go to ballard or university, and it's so nice to know that there is now a market close to home that i can go enjoy. it may not be huge- but we have some of the best vendors in one place in town. plus, skillet is here :) the market runs from 3-7pm and it's nice to bump into neighbors relaxing after a day of work. oh, and dogs are welcome... enjoy!

Maria C.

Yelp
I love this market because it has a really great vibe. It's really low key and doesn't have a carnival like atmosphere that I've experienced at other markets. It's all about the food. Everything you need is there and it's fun to run into friends and neighbors. The hot food vendors are great addition. I love to go up there with my family on thursdays to eat dinner after we shop. The chef demo line-up has been especially inspiring!

Olivia C.

Yelp
Love having a nice farmers' market in the neighborhood and for outsiders, I'd recommend it as a good way to get a feel for Queen Anne. Lots of great vendors of course. One of the hot Thursdays in July we had our dinner there sitting on the long curving wall and saying hi to our neighbors. That curving wall has found it's purpose!

Julie W.

Yelp
This year's market is new and fabulous. It is also independent, nonprofit, and community organized. After losing the previous market manager, the neighborhood rallied and made a market that is truly unique, with a lovely new location on West Crockett, an all-food lineup (well, some flowers, too, but no crafts). And most important, an emphasis on quality. Three great hot food vendors: Skillet, The Signature (Vietnamese street food) and Patty Pan Grill (veggie quesadillas and tamales). This is becoming Thursday night dinner with the family. Great event lineup with chefs, authors and (not always folk) musicians. Give it a whirl.

Tina B.

Yelp
I love the Queen Anne Farmers Market! There are so many great food vendors and most importantly for me, lots of vegan food options. It can be a bummer when I'm looking forward to a particular vegan item and the vendor isn't there, but such is the nature of farmers markets. It's a great size and not overwhelming like some of the Sunday markets can be. It's also family friendly, so great for people with kids...but also scene to some epic tantrums around dinner time. There's only a couple more markets until the season is over, so make sure to check it out soon!

Alice C.

Yelp
A nice little market, but bit off the beaten path for us and smaller than we expected. Also, we did not time appropriately to try the food trucks (we had dinner reservations) - they looked like a tasty variety!
