Notable Restaurant Openings in Seattle, November 2025 | Eater Seattle

"Revived by Jessica Gifford (owner of Bathtub Gin), this longtime Belltown dining hotspot returns with a classic lineup of Mediterranean‑inflected PNW standards—think ricotta toast and a lamb burger—plus a cocktail menu." - Harry Cheadle

Queen City Review - Belltown - Seattle - The Infatuation

"Queen City in Belltown has been around for over a century, but probably reached peak cool in the ’80s when it was called Queen City Grill. It acted as a meeting place for Seattleites to come together over steak and martinis while exchanging floppy disks and discussing the Reagan administration. The space went through a few iterations, and then closed for good in early 2018. But now, Queen City has returned once again. It’s in the same building and from the people behind Linda’s Tavern and Oddfellows Cafe - two solid spots that everyone in this town seems to love. You can almost feel the history in the long and narrow dining room that looks like a cross between a (clean) fraternity house and a jazz club. It’s hard to distinguish between which features are original and which are renovated, like the church pews and taxidermy deer heads. So when it was handed over to the people from Linda’s, there was an obvious opportunity for this spot to be excellent. Unfortunately, Queen City missed their shot. They improved upon an already great venue, but the food they filled it with is terrible. At first read, the food menu has plenty of viable options to enjoy while sipping drinks in a cool hangout. But it turns out, you don’t want to eat any of them, from the bland fig and ricotta bruschetta to the squash gnocchi that tastes like the contents of an entire lemon tree. When we cut into the hush puppies, we found raw batter. And we’re still compiling a list of things we’d rather spend $16 on than the skimpy turkey club that comes with a bland clump of slaw. The only silver lining is the burger, which is the best thing here, yet quite possibly the most average burger on the planet. photo credit: Dorothee Brand The cocktails are OK, but not worth going out of your way for. Aperol spritzes with cava and pineapple are decent. The boulevardier is forgettable. And the flashy-sounding nitro-infused mojito only tastes like a regular ol’ mojito. You know, the kind you’d get at a wedding open bar before transitioning to tequila and reciting a self-loathing toast that nobody asked you to make. You’re better off sticking with beer and wine. That’s really the only reason why you should stop in - to have a couple of drinks and feel a little nostalgic, not even necessarily for a time you lived through. Though, if you never got to play The Oregon Trail on a floppy disk, you missed out. Food Rundown Hush Puppies Eating one of these sad paprika cornbread fritters is like trying to identify the genre of an obscure experimental indie film. Spicy at first, and so very raw towards the middle. Deviled Eggs These are extremely standard, textureless deviled eggs. So if you’re a fan of this snack to begin with, they’re fine. Nothing groundbreaking here. Fig & Ricotta Bruschetta This is very thick slab of grilled bread topped with unseasoned ricotta, a few massive figs drenched in sickeningly sweet syrup, and a bunch of limp mustard frills. It’s impossible not to make an absolute mess out of the whole thing. And, it’s not even good. Smith Burger We’ve never been so happy to eat a perfectly average burger. We’d even call the fries tasty. Get it if you must. Squash Gnocchi The dumplings themselves are not offensive at all. What is offensive, though, is the swampy lagoon they swim in: caciocavallo cheese, lemon, a canopy of more unnecessary mustard frills, and huge mushrooms that soak up all the flavor of the sauce. the outcome tastes truly bad, because a tidal wave of lemon juice does not get along with stinky cheese funk. We don’t say this often, but we had to physically stop after a couple bites. Classic Club A sparsely-filled turkey sandwich that has no business being $16. It comes with a cabbage slaw that tastes both bland and slightly rotten at the same time." - Aimee Rizzo

BOCA Restobar & Grill Takes Over Historic Queen City Space in Belltown - Eater Seattle

"Queen City Grill was a long-standing restaurant in the historic building in Belltown, which dates back to the early 20th century. It served local pier workers as a saloon before becoming a restaurant. The restaurant was purchased by Marco Casas Beaux from Linda Derschang last year." - Gabe Guarente

I came to Queen City with a group of colleagues and we were all very impressed. Our initial greeting was friendly and the barkeep was goodly enough to help us make great drink decisions as we waited for the rest of our group. Drinks were followed up by appetizers, the mussels and clams were especially noteworthy! I had the scallops and they were delicious, the portion wa generous also. We shared key lime pie and cheesecake for dessert and it was a fantastic way to end the meal. Our server, Eve, was friendly and efficient, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, and the value for the meal was really great! Will definitely go again.

Absolutely delightful grand re-re-opening of Queen City. Casual cocktail after work, dinner before a show, quick pre-shift shot, the vibes have it all. I crave the tuna tartar fortnightly, steak frites is my HH go-to. Leave room for the cheese cake, classic, simple, with a swoosh of honey, yes! Make it dressy, roll in with laidback flip flops, love the mix of people and the atmosphere. Staff rocks!

What a delightful evening we had at Queen City!! Met up with dear friends for a bit of Christmas cheer and were not disappointed. The staff were friendly and inviting the ambiance was cozy, festive and warm. We all ordered different meals and they were outstanding, I had the scallops, something I am intimated to cook at home - they were seared perfectly and came with a yummy sauce. Everyone else was very happy with their meals as well. Ely was the cherry on top of our evening - he is so knowledgable and passionate about wine, it was fun to have a lovely discussion on all things wine. A 10/10 evening - I highly recommend a visit.

At the risk of being over the top, what a delight it was this evening to return to the Queen City. I have more happy memories associated with this restaurant and this space over the last 30 years then I can count. I was both excited and apprehensive when I heard it had reopened and made tonight's reservation to return to this place. Nostalgia is a funny thing, magnifying both the joys and disappointments. In summary, my nephews and I had as lovely a night out dining in Seattle as one can ask for. Preparations, attention to detail, service and authentic kindness, this is what we are hoping to experience when we enter a fine restaurant. Queen City, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Tonight was lovely and I can't wait to come back.

I've been eager to try this restaurant watching it come together and was not disappointed. Split the tuna tartare, market fish, frutti di mare, and honey cheesecake. The market fish sides were amazing and each dish was well thought out. The total was very reasonable. The interior felt warm and welcoming, I can't wait to sit on their patio this summer. Every staff member we interacted with was exceedingly kind and went above and beyond.

The new revamp of Queen City is just what Belltown needed. The staff was so welcoming and attentive. I asked for a tequila cocktail that was not super sweet and the bartender made a dealers choice and it did not disappoint. The fresh decor and paint make this old gem shine bright. The food was delicious and came out in a beautiful presentation. Hope it is here to stay! Support Local and share to your friends!
