At Queen Mary Tavern, most of the cocktails are made with gin or rum—two liquors traditionally popular in the British Navy (at least until the daily sailor rum ration was abolished in 1970). This happy hour has changed a lot but I guess inflation? Every Sunday 3-7pm and Monday 5-7pm, while supplies last. $9 gin or vodka martinis, $3 oysters on the half shell, $12 shrimp cocktail, etc. Still a great spot to catch up with friends over cocktails. Especially love the patio on nice days.

Great and inventive cocktails served by a great team! Dan, Tad, Jon, Omar, Amy, and Barrett are phenomenal at making you feel welcomed aboard the Queen Mary! Kudos to the entire gang! Now, fancy a Martini or a Negroni?!?

Neighborhood bar with oyster happy hours, movie nights, and a rotating upscale menu. If you love obscure gins this is the bar for you. There's a limited small bites menu available as well, and on movie nights popcorn is free! Noise levels even when crowded are good and the dimly lit ambiance lends itself to quiet conversations. Absolutely a must go for locals and travelers alike.

"WAIT. I have to take you somewhere," my friend explained suddenly as we walked out of the establishment and down the street. "Queen Mary. It's my favorite bar in Chicago." And yeah, as always, bestie was right. Such a cool, unique vibe. Never seen a bar where you can sit on both sides. Dimly lit, mature vibe. Elevated drink menu. The Chantilly Lace was just the perfect about of sweet and garnished beautifully. Give Mary the visit she deserves!

$1 oysters on Sundays at 3pm were a fantastic deal! Oysters were pretty big and came with lemons, mignonette and horseradish. Recommend arriving close to 3pm because the seats fill up quickly and their patio isn’t open yet. All seats were filled by 3:30pm! You can only order 12 oysters at a time. Took 20min to get the oysters after we ordered because the shucking takes a while and there was a huge turnout of people. Love the whitefish dip too! Clam chowder had lots of potatoes and not a ton of clam, but decent for $7. Wish it would’ve been hot though; came out a bit cold but I think it’s because it was super busy during happy hour. We didn’t get water until 15min after sitting down; same time we could put an order in, but staff were apologetic and clearly swamped. Overall, oyster happy hour was worth it! Will be back to battle the crowds!

It’s small and cute and the drinks were good. The bartenders were not particularly polite. We tried to move two chairs from one end of the bar to the other to accommodate three of us and one guy literally yelled at us even though there was plenty of room. The other patrons heard and were kind enough to all scoot down so we three ladies could sit. When the girls ordered a martini, the bartender told us the olives were not pitted. We said okay and asked why they chose them and they replied it tastes better and they will not apologize for it. We only asked out of curiosity and didn’t expect such a rude answer. That was my second time visiting Queen Mary and I was excited to introduce my girlfriends to the place. They were visiting from Houston. The experience was embarrassing and I don’t plan to go back.

Have been trying to come here for a couple of years for their oyster happy hour, but could never get in as they’d always run out. Today we were pleasantly surprised to get in and hear that they hadn’t run out of oysters. Upon first glance we noticed that the oysters were $3 each-okay, inflation, crazy economy, we get it. So we ordered a dozen of the oysters, two of the pickled oysters, and 9 mussels. When they came out we noticed how small both the oysters and mussels were. The taste and preparation were phenomenal, no grit or anything of that sort. But for $3 a piece, we were quite disappointed in the tiny size. We walked out after paying an $80 bill for 14 oysters and 9 mussels feeling robbed. Again, taste of food and the service were perfect. But won’t be returning as value of what was served was definitely not worth the money.
