This was my family’s first time here and it was fantastic! We’d never eaten Ethiopian food before, so didn’t know what to expect, but their menu is very informative! Service was AMAZING, the owner/employees genuinely care that you have a good experience. We got the vegetarian combo with sweet potato fries as an appetizer and I would eat a truckload of the fries with the spiced sauce. I’m excited to return and try the meat combo! Extremely reasonably priced for the amount of food that you get.

Amazing food! The meat and veggie combo was so good. I had never tried Ethiopian food before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I can confidently say that I will be back. The owner served us and was wonderful!

On a recent trip to Spokane, Came here on a lark after spotting it the day before. We were going to a different restaurant and decided to try it out the next day, and boy, that was the best decision we could have ever made. We came and it took a little long to receive our orders but our server was awesome. She was enthusiastic and very kind. She helped us figure out what we should get and compared it to dishes that we would be familiar with. (Ex Injera with Dosa bread). The food did not disappoint. We ordered three big plates of food. It was a fun, hands on experience. They didn’t give utensils so we got to eat with our hands. It was fun to wrap your food in the injera (bread) and eat it. There were six people in our party and we were able to share all of the food. We ended up devouring our meal. It was super tasty and flavorful. Overall, five stars all around!

Google
Staff was lovely and the food was super good! It's great that they have gluten-free injera as an option- my friend has celiac so it's always good to find a reliable restaurant to go to.

Google
This restaurant is absolutely wonderful. The food is delicious. The staff really welcomes you. You have a beautiful meal both for the eye and a taste-tempting delight!! We hope to make it back before we leave. Lots of GF options as well!!! Thank you for something tastefully unique and wonderful!!

Google
First time eating here and let me tell you, my partner and I were in and out in 45 minutes, absolutely stuffed and smiling, with leftovers to take home. Elijah was personable and knowledgeable about the dishes, offering fantastic service. Didn’t catch the owner’s name, but she was delightful, too. The pricing was fair and worth every penny. We got the combo veggie platter (says for 2 people but we could have easily fed a third adult) and had a difficult time picking any one portion that was our favorite. The injera was deliciously tangy and spongy. Do yourself a favor and order the spiced iced tea (lightly sweet and cardamom forward). We will definitely be back next time we’re in Spokane!

Google
Amazing food. This was my first time going and it was such a cool experience being able to eat with my hands! We got the meat combo platter, baklava, and coffee. Everything was so full of flavor and spices, even the coffee. Our waitress was very sweet. The atmosphere is intimate and cozy. I can’t wait to come back!

Google
The food was so incredibly good! And there were lots of great gluten-free options.

Yelp
First time here and we were greeted and seated as soon as we got there. The food was delicious and our waitress was the sweetest and kindest person. She explained menu items to us and how everything worked as well as communicated with our table about how long it would be before our food or fresh brews coffee would be. She made us feel so welcomed and appreciated that I will definitely be back.

Yelp
This is one of the hidden gems in a rather bleak and boring food scene in Spokane. The staff is always super friendly and explains everything really well if you need. It also helps that every item on the menu is rated from one to seven peppers so you don't get yourself in too deep spice wise. The menu is also really diverse, including vegetarian options. The atmosphere is pretty fun as well, with African music playing in the background, and traditional artwork all around. I especially appreciate the prices making this a great option for families who have kids with big appetites. It is also really fun they bring you these big platters of food you scoop up with some very unique spongy bread Personally, I would recommend starting with the Ethiopian Sweet Potato fries. A whole lot of flavors going on. If you have never had Ethiopian, you owe it to yourself to try this place.

Yelp
The food and service here are amazing! This was my first time eating Ethiopian cuisine and everything was delicious :) We ordered the Tomato Tibbs as an appetizer, Lamb Tibbs and the Meat and Veggie Platter. Lots of yummy leftovers to take home too. Definitely recommend trying this place if you haven't!

Yelp
If you are a person of color don't eat here! Couldn't even try the food. Came here with a friend (we are out of town) and the owner of the restaurant seated us after waiting for them to clear the table. I'm a woman of color and when a group of white people came after us, the owner said she wasn't serving us first because the other people came first. That was not true because she sat us first. Guess she thought they would be better tippers from her white patrons. Jokes on her we did not stand for that treatment and we left. Black Lives Matter too!

Yelp
'Twas the night before my birthday, and with family friend visiting, we decided to get Ethiopian food. I've always loved Ethiopian cuisine, but I'm not the biggest fan of injera (unfortunate, I know). So, I called ahead and asked the owner if she could make me some white rice. To my surprise, she kindly agreed and assured me she'd have it ready. I promised her I'd show up. When we arrived, I let the server know I was the person who called about the rice. To my absolute delight, they had it ready for me! The fact that the owner trusted my word and went out of her way to accommodate my request made me feel so seen and appreciated. It was such a small act, yet it meant everything. Beyond that, the food was absolutely amazing--rich, flavorful, and cooked with care. The ambiance was light and quiet, perfect for an intimate dinner. And the service? Impeccable. Everyone was kind, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. Queen of Sheba didn't just serve me a meal; they gave me an experience I'll never forget. If you're looking for incredible Ethiopian food with unmatched hospitality, this is the place. It made my birthday eve so special, and I can't wait to go back!

Yelp
Way overpriced for their combos... food was okay. I was really excited for the one ethiopian spot in the area. But... I unfortunately left disappointed. I got the vegetarian combo, which comes with four veggie dishes, a salad, and 3 injera rolls. I was not a fan of their injera. It broke apart too easily, had no tension, and I prefer a more sourdough taste. The dishes themselves were just okay. I liked the yellow lentils, but was not a fan of the red lentils. The biggest issue I had was the price. It should not have costed me $39... I've been to many other places that offered combos with more dishes, better taste, and a lower price. Maybe I've been spoiled by other cities, but I was disappointed in this restaurant.

Yelp
This is my first time trying Ethiopian food. Let me preface that. I had two people recommend the place on the same day, so I was sure it would be a hit. I was not a fan, this time :( The bread was like a rolled up pancake, injura, it is the utensil used to eat food. But its vinegar taste threw me off. I think I was expecting a naan or tortilla type thing. THe lamb was a little oevrcooked and the spices again were very vinegar tasting. Again, This is my first time trying it. I will need to go again and try one of the other dishes the server gave me, so we'll see.

Yelp
Service was very friendly and attentive. Food was good, maybe not the must inspired but I am definitely not a connoisseur of Ethiopian food. It is a quaint restaurant, though not intimate. We got the meat and veggie combo. Plenty for two people even without appetizers. The spiced tea smelled and tasted great. Note, you only get one refill. The injira was fine. Of course the combo comes on a plate of it will 4 additional rolls. Note, they charge for additional. If you have a hankering for Ethiopian, I guess this is the place. I know, kind of a tepid recommendation.

Yelp
My first time having Ethiopian food and I loved it! The restaurant is located inside the Flour Mill (just keep walking straight after entering the front door) and there is street parking and an adjacent parking lot. The restaurant is small but the space is well-used and beautiful. They accommodated our large group reservation by putting tables together ahead of time. They even decorated it with real flowers. Service was quick and give the place a homey feel. The food was amazing! Sambussa's are fried golden and flavorful, just pricey since they were small in size ($6.50 for 4). Each one was arguably bite size. The meat and veggie combination plate serves ~4-5 people for us and comes in this massive beautifully plated tray. Each protein was uniquely seasoned and delicious. I don't eat lamb often, but the lamb entree is just as good. The powdered spice that accompanied the meal is really hot (to me) so I would recommend going light-handed with it. There are lots of vegetarian options at this restaurant as well. Would love to return again. 4.5/5 -0.5 for the small sambussas

Yelp
They have delicious food, are so helpful and welcoming, and delicious beverages too! You won't want to miss this chance to try new things. Vegetarian platter is fun!

Yelp
This was such a great experience! Amazing food, knowledgeable and helpful service. We will be back!

Yelp
We hadn't been to Queen of Sheba restaurant in quite a while but the food, service and friendly atmosphere were just as great as we remembered. My daughter and I ordered the combination item with 3 kinds of meat and vegetables. Eating with your hands isn't unusual at our house as we enjoy Indian cuisine using our fingers instead of spoons or forks. Our meal was delicious and we truly enjoy the variety of spicy flavors that make each item a unique taste exerience. We promised ourselves not to wait so long before our next visit.

Tristan J.

Yelp
We went there for the first time, and soon right after the place was slammed with people (I think because of a game nearby). Despite this surge in traffic, they made us fresh gluten free injera - my wife is quite sensitive to gluten, and this made her night. We really, really appreciated this effort in a busy evening. We ordered the meat/veggie combo for 2, and added red lentils. Really liked the beef, lentils, and potatoes. We finished the platter and left absolutely stuffed.

Jeramie C.

Yelp
Every time my wife and I eat here, we ask ourselves why we bother eating anywhere else. The food is flavorful and amazing. The staff are inviting and genuinely friendly, and the cost doesn't break the bank. Do yourself a favor and give Queen of Sheba a try. You'll eat with your hands and lick your fingers clean.

Yelp
The best Ethiopian food we've ever eaten!!! Owner, Almaz, is a culinary genius. Our favorites: Tibs (beef), Doro Wat, mixed vegetables, Shero, Yellow Lentils and Ayib cheese. My husband loves their coffee! If you are in Spokane-area, The Queen of Sheba is a must!

Juliane L.

Yelp
A true hidden gem in Spokane! Absolutely delicious food with a vibrant atmosphere and friendly staff. Definitely one of the spots that makes Spokane special!
google avatar

Brian B.

Yelp
Delicious food, fresh and flavorful AF. Prices are reasonable. Service is attentive and warm. My only issue is that some of the seating is out in the hallway so people will be walking past as you're sitting there trying to eat. Nothing separates you from them and they're within inches of your table. Ah well. Had a good time anyway and like I say, food is scrumptious.
google avatar

Matt V.

Yelp
Throughly enjoyed the Veggie and Meat platter, which had three different types of meat, chicken, beef and lamb as well as potatoes and carrots. Well worth waiting for. You can make spicier if you'd like by sprinkling additional a delicious spic mixture on the meats. Staff was friendly and when you order arrived at the table spent the time explaining the dish and its accompaniments. The platter easily fed the four of us dining there together.
google avatar

Greg n.

Yelp
Really good spicing. Injera was cold which was disappointing. Was overall well recommended. We had a vegetarian platter and added doro wet. Tastes were on point. Nice jazz playing- on a short playlist but it was good jazz. People were friendly.
google avatar

Yelp
Love this place. It's so pretty inside and you can smell the delicious spices before you even get through the door. The staff is so sweet and the food is excellent.

Manmir A.

Yelp
Stopped here during a pre-flight visit out of Spokane. One of the few Ethiopian cuisine around. Overall recall it to be a good experience. The food is a scale for people, some like, some will have some, and then others will not like it. Similar to some Indian dishes with a milder flavor. Very filling might I add and healthy.

John M.

Yelp
Best Ethiopian food ever!!! I ordered the meat combo and the veggie sides, my girlfriend doesn't normally like salad but loves their salad, along with the cabbage, potatoes and carrot veggie side which was sooo good, best Ethiopian food in WA
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
The food was just ok! The ambiance is not good at all. Too small, not enough space to eat! I asked twice for silverware and was not giving it to eat with! Beverages did not get refilled, and my portion was small. I will not be going back!

Lauri P.

Yelp
Where to begin...the lone employee refused to let my partner and I sit at a table for 4 despite the restaurant being empty *at the time*. She made a single woman sit outside because, again, the only tables were for 4 people, except one, which we refused due to its proximty in front of the kitchen entrance. We sat at the table of our choice and she eventually seated a couple at the table for 2, but when she served them, she placed a platter on the table, asked the woman to hold the platter while she placed the 2nd platter, then walked away leaving the couple with nowhere to put both plates. Eventually, a family of 4 was seated, and another group of 3 came by but were made to sit in the hallway of the shopping center. The food. We ordered at the same time as a table for 4 and another table for 2. After the waitress went back to the kitchen, we smelled onions and ginger sizzling, but food was brought out immediately to all 3 tables, and nothing tasted of onions or ginger. In fact, nothing had a taste at all except the very odd artificial creamer served with the coffee. I thought it was milk, but it smelled of tree nuts and my partner said it tasted of artificial sweetener and way too much almond extract. But what was really odd - when she placed the food in front of us, she said, "Good luck." Not "here", or "enjoy", but she wished us luck. All of the lentil dishes were unseasoned, the salad had oil, but no lemon or vinegar, and the injera was made of all-purpose flour - no teff. It's a shame it wasn't any good. We used to get great Ethiopian food in other cities and I had high hopes.

Yelp
Delicious food and a unique dining experience in Spokane. My fiancé and I enjoyed trying different Ethiopian beers and the vegetarian combination plate. The combination plate was plenty of food for two people. We will definitely be back!

Julie B.

Yelp
Consistently delicious! Excellent vegetarian selections! Personal, welcoming service from the owner! Quality of experience is as good as it was when it opened, years ago. I'm so glad that Queen of Sheba is a delightful choice that never disappoints!
google avatar

Yelp
We've never had Ethiopian food before, so we don't have anything to compare it to. The taste most closely resembles Indian food. We got the Chicken Sambussa appetizer, the Meat & Veggie Plate, and the Queen Dibor's Pani Popo dessert. The appetizer was very yummy and a great appetizer size (a bite, not filling). The entree was a good blend of spicy and mild. The dessert was delicious. We would recommend everyone go here at least once for the experience of the entree. A definite would go again to try more of their menu!

Yelp
Craving to try some new cuisine? Then this is the right spot. They made sure they are serving authentic and yet super tasty food. No disappointment whatsoever.

Yelp
Came back again and it was just as delicious as last time - Thank you! Next time I'll remember to take a photo!

Yelp
The first experience was awesome. Yesterday... not so much. Drove all the way to Spokane, got home, and my Ethiopian ancestors screamed and fell out at the Awaze Tibs! What in the world? Ibakihi yeteshale adirgi!
google avatar

Yelp
Authentic and delicious are the two standout traits of this restaurant. I tried the lunch veggie and meat special. It was out of this world with flavor. The staff and owner were absolutely hospitable. I highly recommend it!
google avatar

Yelp
I was staying at a hotel nearby and could not face another meal in a generic restaurant. I found this place on Yelp. The restaurant is actually in The Flour Mill across from Spokane Arena. My passion is finding food that is freshly made with skill and love. Queen of Sheba is that restaurant. You can taste the family recipes and spices in the food. If you haven't ever eaten Ethiopian food, no problem, the staff will help you. I had the spicy lamb, split yellow peas, and iced tea. Everything had great flavor and was served fresh and hot. The portions are big enough that I probably didn't need the peas as a solo diner but they were great to try. The tea is really unique (in a good way) and well worth getting hot or cold. If you are ever in a Spokane do not miss visiting Queen of Sheba.
google avatar

Megan S.

Yelp
My colleague and I came here today for lunch while we are in town for a conference. It was our first time having Ethiopian food and we loved it! Admittedly, I did watch a few videos about Ethiopian food (mostly how to properly eat it) before I felt brave enough to try it. We tried the Chicken Sambussa and the meat and veggie combination platter for two. Both were so, so, so delicious! Portion sizes were very generous-- the platter for two could have easily fed 3-4. Service was wonderful and super friendly. I highly recommend this place! It was a quick and scenic 13 minute walk from the convention center.
google avatar

John G.

Yelp
The restaurant is located in the downtown, near the waterfalls which is nice. They also have a parking lot which is convenient, note you might not be able to see the restaurant from the street, just park in the lot and walk towards the entry and you'll see it. We got the spicy beef stew and the lamb rack. Both come with injera. I liked the stew, but the lamb not so much. A few thing that could be improved in my opinion: - the only side that comes with the entree is the injera (this is for 16$ and 17$ plates, I was still a little hungry) - we looked at sharing one of the combos but the meat options were spicy and one of us cannot eat spicy, they did not allow us to substitute with something less spicy. - I felt the waiter was rushing us - there was no low card option, nothing to substitute the injera for

Yelp
This place is a hide away gem!! Inside of the flour mill- this amazing family owned restaurant is fantastic. They greet you and make you feel at home. The food is delicious and you will leave feeling full for sure! Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Excellent food, great staff. Went on our anniversary dinner - our anniversary is next week, but it's the day we could vet out just the 2 of us - and we stopped by on a lark. Had some of the Lamb. Absolutely amazing! Great staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated! Made the day very special and enjoyable!

Morgen W.

Yelp
I drive from Pullman with my boyfriend just to eat here. The best Ethiopian place I've been in my life! (I grew up in Seattle and none have compared to the flavor profile of their dishes). They also have such friendly wait staff who answer questions and are happy to educate you on their culture!
google avatar

B D.

Yelp
Having lived in Seattle and now living in Missoula, went from a city with amazing food to one with a lot of flavorless food (sorry, Mslla). I was looking forward to visiting Spokane because I was desperate for some good food. Queen of Sheba was first on our list and it did not disappoint! The veggie combo was excellent and the staff was super friendly! Thank you!

Yelp
Very authentic experience, great food , the spices are very deep , the injera bread balances all together. Highly recommended if you never tried Ethiopian food , great introduction for the first time. Definitely will be back for more !!!

Yelp
I was eyeballing this place before my trip and wanted to try it out. It's a very cool building down town area. The little restaurant is small but cute ! We had the beef starter and it was phenomenal! The ice tea is AMAZING! We shared the combination. The flavors are great and spicy ! I definitely recommend going here if you like to try something different! And the Gal was very friendly and accommodating

Yelp
The food and Almaz the owner are just wonderful!! Lots of vegetarian/vegan options and it's delicious every time we go. Almaz has the biggest heart and takes care of everyone!

Yelp
Every time I eat here I'm transported back to the 10 days in Ethiopia in 2010 on a church mission trip. The tastes and smells are authentic and yummy!
google avatar

Toree A.

Yelp
The food was delicious. Shiro was outstanding. They have gluten free injera that is so tasty I could eat it by itself. The fried chickpeas were perfectly seasoned. I felt so welcomed and had a lovely chat with the owner of the restaurant, who is such a light!! Next time I'm in Spokane, I'll definitely be coming back!! Thank you so much Mrs. Almaz
google avatar

Yelp
Amazingly delicious Ethiopian food in Spokane, WA. We enjoy both the #17 veggie and #18 meat combination plates. Our #23 lamb with onions and bell peppers came out on a hot plate sizzling and we absolutely loved every savory bite of it. Last but not least, we enjoyed our queen brown peanut butter cookie which truly is the most tasty cookie in Spokane. Almaz, the owner, and Brian are warm and welcoming, and shower the food, environment, and guests with love and kindness. The Ethiopian inspired art, decors, tables, etc are beautiful. Thank you for bringing us joy and deliciousness. We plan to return again and again.

Yelp
The best food of my whole life!! I love this place so much!! My boyfriend and I try to come once a week for our date night and we've never had a bad experience. The owner is the sweetest angel too! I'm vegan but my boyfriend isn't and there's so many options for both of us! Truly my most favorite restaurant if you haven't gone you've gotta try it!!!

Elsie G.

Yelp
Located in the flour mill building downtown is where you'll find this gem. The food is cooked to perfection and is delicious. I always get the meat and veggie lunch special which comes with 2 different meat dishes and a veggie dish for under $17.00. The tradition to eating is with your fingers but you can always request utensils. The owner is always so pleasant and friendly. Don't forget to order the Ethiopian spiced tea.

D H.

Yelp
Such a quaint and welcoming restaurant. The hospitality was wonderful. First time eating with a friend, food was amazing. Great combination of spices for the pallet! Had the Beef sambusa and the meat and veggie lunch special, with Minchetabesh and Yesiga We't. Absolutely a treat! Was nice to go on a lesser busy time to enjoy fully. So Grateful to Owner who made recommendations on her Homeland cuisine! Definitely will return!

Hannah B.

Yelp
I love coming here! The owner is SO kind and personable. The food is fantastic, and like nothing I have ever tasted before. It is a true experience! I highly recommend coming here if you want incredible food, over the top kindness, and something unique! I ate here twice in one week it's so good! I loved it so much I have brought all of my friends and family here. We got the chicken and lamb. They were both bursting with flavor and had our mouths watering before each bite. This is definitely my new favorite restaurant! It is authentic Ethiopian food, the owner is from Ethiopia and everything is made fresh and served in the traditional Ethiopian way.

Chad O.

Yelp
Awesome place. Great food and amazing service. I highly recommend visiting. The food is very authentic and tastes amazing. Complete gem
