We visited this steakhouse as a party of five for a birthday.
Our table was ready when we arrived. There was a birthday card on the table for the birthday boy (boyfriend's oldest adult son), which was a nice touch. The restaurant is quite old and dated, but there's an amazing view of the Queen Mary. A pianist played jazz and retro songs on a black baby grand in the corner.
Service was polite, but slow. There were pats of butter on the table, but no bread. After about 25 minutes, I finally requested bread. The place was not busy, yet we waited awhile for drinks. Two of their signature cocktails, the mandarin one and the lavender gin and tonic, were not good. Boyfriend gave me his gin and tonic as it was too sweet for him to drink.
Everyone ordered steak except for me: I had the sea bass, which was outstanding! The food was quite good. Kids ordered the sashimi plate as an appetizer, and boyfriend and I split a wedge salad.
After dinner, our server brought the birthday boy a crème brûlée dessert, with one lit candle. Our other son ordered the caramel crème brûlée, which the server never ordered for us, so we had to wait additional time for her to put the order in, get it, and wait for him to eat it before we could leave. We were there around 2.5 hours.
Everyone had a good time, but for the prices charged, everything should have been flawless. This is a very expensive restaurant.
Pro tip: Use valet parking for $10. Totally worth it as the parking lot is a crowded nightmare.
