"The quesadillas at this Bucktown restaurant are great—they’re thick, fluffy, and have griddled masa bubbles polka-dotting the outside. Aside from the housemade tortillas in their namesake dish, Quesadilla La Reina Del Sur stands out from the other Mexican places within a two-minute stroll because their entire menu is vegetarian or vegan. And they have a wide range of fillings for their burritos, tacos, and enchiladas—like nutty huitlacoche and nopales, or well-seasoned soy chorizo or “chicken” that’s a good stand-in for the typical meats. The colorful space has lots of tables and doesn’t get too busy, so it’s a great option if you’re in the area with a large group and haven’t gameplanned dinner yet (vegetarianism not required)." - John Ringor
