The 35 Best Restaurants in Barcelona

"Quirat is a restaurant with a clear vision: reviving old, often unfashionable, Catalan recipes and traditions for a younger, more international audience. The presentation is intricate and elegant, barely preparing you for the unabashedly deep, complex flavors. Each dish on the menu highlights something distinctly local: the humble calçot (a cross between a leek and a spring onion that only grows in Catalonia during the first four months of the year), and cap i pota, an old-school offal stew beloved by Catalan octogenarians, but served here on a bed of delicate scallops. Quirat translates as carat, and its culinary gems can be sampled on the two aptly named 18K and 24K tasting menus. Catalonia is present in every bite and sip of Quirat, where the wine menu showcases the very best of Catalonia’s 12 designated wine regions, from Priorat reds to Penedès bubbles and Alella whites. You’re sure to find something distinctly Barcelonian in this recently opened gem." - Isabelle Kliger, Gemma Askham

Quirat

"The gourmet restaurant at the Intercontinental Barcelona is another example of a hotel keen to diversify its services for guests by transforming itself into a foodie destination in its own right. Quirat, which has its own independent entrance (as well as access via the lobby), represents, in its own words, “the purity and wealth of the elements that form the land”. Chef Víctor Torres, who is renowned for his cuisine at the Michelin-starred Les Magnòlies in Arbúcies, and his team create contemporary Catalan cuisine that always showcases locally sourced ingredients while at the same time fully respecting seasonality. Dishes here are full of depth and flavour, with simplicity only evident in their sauces and reductions. Highlights include Grilled oyster, orange "escabeche" and osetra caviar, Maresme baby peas and black sausage, and Wagyu with red bell pepper – culinary jewels that are worthy of their appearance on menus entitled 18K and 24K. The hotel even has its own kitchen garden!" - Michelin Inspector

Interesting but disappointing experience at a Michelin 1 star restaurant. Had the 18K menu on 3May, definitely an over-rated Michelin 1 star restaurant, most of the dishes were quite salty but still acceptable overall, however the most disappointing thing is the service that we experienced especially at a Michelin 1 star restaurant, there was one dish that I got served on the table was like curling bowl crashing the other dish that was already put on the table, and end up the other dish made the cutlery fell apart, no intention for the staff to help rearranging the dish/cutlery and she just ran away. In addition, we would like to sit a bit longer after to chat a bit after eating, however we got the bill immediately after dinner but we never requested it, interesting experience as I never experienced the same even at a unrated restaurant.

A solid Michelin one star. Great, attentive service. (E.g., we both dropped our napkins, and they insisted on replacing.) Modern twist on classic Catalan fare. Generous and inexpensive wine pairing. We had the 24k menu and were stuffed.

Fantastic food and even better service. I had the “24K” menu, which is their long tasting menu and it took about 3 hours. It was worth it though as I was served one amazing dish after another, including a dish with duck breast that is the best duck I’ve ever had. I also opted for a four-glass wine pairing in which I started with sparkling, moved to white, then a red, and finally a sweet dessert wine.

We booked the 24k tasting menu for dinner. It did not disappoint - the flavours, combination of foods you wouldn't expect and the homage to Catalan cuisine was incredible. Exquisitely prepared and presented, each dish was as good as the next. We also appreciated the excellent service from the whole team, polite and friendly and couldn't do enough to make sure we enjoyed the meal. The recommended wine was also amazing. The ambience is not as cosy as other similar restaurants due to the hotel setting but the food and service make up for this and the restaurant decor is beautiful. Highly recommend trying Quirat, you won't be disappointed.

Albert, Irene, Mariano, and Julie did a wonderful job of making my dining experience special as a solo diner. They also were able to accommodate my gluten free diet without any issues. I really enjoyed the food and hospitality! Very creative and delicious dishes.

My dining experience at Quirat, nestled within the Intercontinental Barcelona and boasting a Michelin star, was a journey of culinary excellence. Opting for the smaller menu, dubbed 18k, each dish was a revelation, thoughtfully prepared, and locally sourced, showcasing the best of the region’s produce. The wine pairing elevated the meal further, with selections that complemented each course perfectly. The staff at Quirat deserves special mention for their professionalism and warmth, striking a fine balance that enhanced our dining experience. Their knowledge and passion were apparent, contributing to the superb service that accompanied the meal. However, the ambiance / atmosphere of Quirat didn’t quite match the high standard set by its cuisine and service. The setting, reminiscent of a hotel breakfast room or a standard hotel restaurant, lacked the unique and authentic touch I anticipated. This resulted in a somewhat cold atmosphere, which was also reflected in the table presentation. Despite the delectable food and exceptional service, the overall dining environment left something to be desired. In conclusion, while Quirat shines brightly in terms of culinary prowess and service, a reimagining of its ambiance and presentation could transform it into a perfect dining destination. For those willing to look beyond the decor, Quirat offers an unforgettable gastronomic experience.

Google
A limited experience in every way. Cold design in a hotel lobby sets the tone for a fairly corporate feeling restaurant. Two tasting menu choices offer a short and longer experience that rambles through Catalonia. Food is tasty but no real standout dishes. Portions fairly small and even after 10 courses you feel hungry. We ordered the large menu but when we arrived at 21:00 (early for Barcelona) we were told that it was no longer available. The short menu was fine and honestly a better value. The €70 euro additional charge for the longer one made little sense. Still, would have been nice to have the option. Dishes tended to get flavor from sauces and not from ingredients. Lobster was over sauced and cloying. Lam B sweetbreads and caviar at end was weird and unsatisfactory. Crab tartlet was the best and unfortunately the first dish. Desserts just ok. Room is ice cold with marble tables and cheap hotel chairs. The place feels like a hotel breakfast room and not a fine dining restaurant. Wine list is short but has plenty of decent options at reasonable prices. Service solid but spotty. Needs some serious attention to detail.

Phenomenal dining experience. I had the 24k menu with wine pairing and it was exquisite. The service was top notch and every bite was perfection. Michelin star well deserved.
