"In Garland, this is one of the Vietnamese bakeries that specialize in banh mi. On top of that delicious option, customers can order freshly baked Vietnamese style baguettes and crostinis, buttered baguettes baked crispy and smothered in sugar, and best enjoyed with a hot cup of black coffee." - Didi Paterno

"A popular Vietnamese bakery in Garland is launching a charcuterie pop-up that will sell Vietnamese deli meats, persimmon jam, pickled vegetables and more, according to the Dallas Morning News. The pop-up is a project from Violet Huynh, whose mother owns Quoc Bao Bakery in Garland. Hyunh and her boyfriend Gavin Seto are launching Chả Cutie, an Asian-inspired charcuterie shop, which will operate out of the bakery at 3419 W Walnut Street when it opens later this year." - Brittanie Shey

Been coming here for like over 15+ years. It's still my favorite banh mi spot in town. The specials still the same and flavors are still the same. Now it's $5 a sandwhich. Buy 2 get 1 free. I finally tried something different than the #1, I got the #5 and may start getting that as well. Lots of options. There is a credit card fee FYI. We get veggie on the side and re heat in air fryer for later if we have left overs.

Nicole Nguyen

Google
Excellent bánh mì spot with thin crust, chewy bread like you would expect in Vietnam with many meat combinations. Prices are fair and service is quick and efficient.

Ellie A

Google
So delicious! I went and got 6 different Bahn Mí, it only took about 10min. Each one tasted amazing but my favorite was the number 10.

Adrian Dizon

Google
My favorite banh mi place I've been to. I've only tried two in garland but this place is so good I don't even feel like trying others. Been going here for maybe 2 or 3 years. My favorite is the BBQ+meatball :) I don't leave reviews much if ever, but I just have to shout this place out, thats how much I like it.

Christie Murray

Google
Quick serve sandwich counter style shop. Buy two get third free banh mi. This is a take away only, there is not a dining area so be prepared to walk. Food is fresh and delicious!

Pin Yeoh (Foodie life)

Google
Best Vietnamese sandwiches ever! We have come to the bakery for years. The price is reasonable! And I love their roasted pork and roasted chicken! We did try other sandwiches place, but by far, this is our must visit place if we crave for Vietnamese sandwiches!!! They constantly have a deal for buy 2 get 1 free!

J D

Google
Baguettes are crunchy on the outside and soft, airy on the inside. Banh mi is stuffed to the brim. Che is really good too. Hour drive was so worth it. Definitely will be back!!!

Ian J.

Google
Updated 5/17/2020 - Glad to see this place is as busy as before. The order took about 20 minutes. They still offer buy three sandwiches get one free. They’ve introduced flan and it seems to sell out pretty quick. My favorite Banh Mi place is DFW. #3 Grilled Chicken sub is phenomenal!

Whitney G.

Yelp
Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 Value: 5/5 ---- Wow another place I wish I lived closer to. Delicious banh mi (BBQ Pork is my favorite but know that it is pretty fatty), perfect bread, homemade pate and mayo. So good. You can also get bread loaves for 50 cents each. Definitely tempted to get some of the pate/mayo on my next run! There is a cash discount and a buy 2 get 1 free deal for the menu. Love! Would recommend to anyone. (Except maybe vegetarians.)

Cindy N.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem in the DFW area for reasonable prices, high quality and amazing taste! They often have a B2G1 free deal! I love their banh mi cha as it's a very nostalgic dish. The bread is crispy, light and fluffy on the inside. There's a perfect ratio of butter, pate and meat. The veggies are fresh and plentiful. I couldn't ask for anything more and am glad to have found my fave banh mi shop!

Paul C.

Yelp
Great casual spot to take out bánh mì! My favorite was the meatball, but the grilled chicken was a close second. Buy 2 get 1 free! With Garland having a large Viet population, you know this is the place in Dallas to get some authentic bánh mì. I was originally only planning to get one, but I couldn't resist the buy 2 get 1 deal! The employees were friendly and quickly whipped up my order. Here are the three I got, in order of most to least favorite (although all delicious): meatball, grilled chicken, and rolled ham. Definitely check it out if you're in the area and/or craving some bánh mì!

Yen P.

Yelp
One of the best spots for bánh mì sandwiches while in Garland. They do a Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal which is pretty sweet. I've loved everything I've tried here.

Hannah N.

Yelp
If you told me I would be craving a grilled chicken banh mi I would say you're crazy, but alas there I was going out of my way to get some. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love banh mi, but I usually get the dac biet aka thi nguoi aka cold cut meats or xiu mai aka meatballs and sometimes the thit nuong aka grilled pork. I was persuaded to try the grilled chicken which I already was bracing for dry, stringy meat. Not here! Even eaten the next day warmed up, it was deliciously flavorful and moist. The veggies are pretty standard, but I do like that they shred their pickled veggies. It's a small shop for pick up only. The sandwiches are packed with meat and quite filling. The ladies are pretty quick at assembling your order considering most people buy multiple sandwiches at a time. The bread is baked in house and while that's a plus, I can't say I'm the biggest fan. It had a nice texture but no distinct taste. I got one a plain one to snack on for the drive home. Overall it's a solid banh mi shop, but as for me I only go there for the chicken banh mi.

Jinyoung P.

Yelp
Still amazing! I got to have Quoc Bao banh mi twice in the past couple of weeks and my high opinion of this place has not changed at all. The ladies have been super helpful and awesome, and I love love love love that we have Quoc Bao in DFW.

Chaunhi L.

Yelp
A true Vietnamese gem!!! Which is so hard to find in Dallas. Delicious, authentic and affordable. 10/10, a staple in the city. My family and I have been coming for years and the quality has always been consistent. Love them!

L N.

Yelp
Quoc Bao is my all-time favorite place for banh mi sandwiches. Their bread is amazing, and I've loved it since I was a kid. The quality is always top-notch, especially my favorite, the chicken banh mi. Plus, they have a great deal: buy 2, get 1 free. I always tell everyone I know about this place because it's such a good value for the delicious food.

james m.

Yelp
My current record is demolishing 2 #12s in 15 minutes. Working my way up to knocking out a triple. Call in 20 min ahead and buy 2 get one. Pate is a must.

Lara M.

Yelp
This is the best banh mi I have had in the USA, Canada, and VIETNAM! Quality and quantity is amazing and fresh!!! 1. The bread: crunch and fresh and nice and airy, not overly gluten-ny, not too dry (you know how some banh mi bread can get really dry, this it not). Made with good quality flour. It's not the very best banh mi bread, but it makes the best overall banh mi sandwich. 2. I love extra pate and extra mayo, and this place sells both. I did add extra pate and extra mayo to all of the sandwiches when I got home. Because the dryness of any banh mi sandwich is the hardest to predict. And even more the dryness that you prefer may be affected by how much water intake you have had atm. a. pate. the pate is literally the perfect loose moisture content to go with the bread. smells and tastes so fresh and perfectly seasoned and salted. b. mayo. how was this mayo made? it tastes so delicious. I can just guess because it's really yellow that there is extra egg yolk powder and maybe a bit of butter to make this thick consistency. Not garlic-y like some mayo can be. This is very perfect for the banh mi, as well. 3. Freshness: probably the largest part of the deliciousness of this banh mi comes from the freshness and quality of meat, without the use of chemical "enhancements" or chemical washing like baking soda. It's hard to get this quality fresh meat in California or basically outside of Texas and maybe a handful of other states. My favorites: I only got 2 kinds Meatballs and pate with some ham was my favorite 150/100. The cold cuts comes in second 140/100 score

Vicky L.

Yelp
Arguably one of the best bahn mi sandwiches I've had in my life. AND to boot, the buy-two-get-one deal/price is unbeatable! Crusty, toasty baguette Plenty of options from delicious deli cuts to meatballs or grilled meats Rich pate Pickled veggies for contrast Jalapeños for spice Service is fairly fast; the space is meant primarily for takeout orders. We typically grab a Viet coffee from 7Leaves across the street and our bahn mi from Quoc Bao and eat lunch in the car.

Lisa B.

Yelp
So fresh and so original. Smell the bread when you walk in. It's amazing. The service is very attentive. We will be back.

Shawn F.

Yelp
When it comes to Banh Mi this shopping center has an embarrassment of riches. The sandwiches here are amazing! (I recommend the #4)

Stephen R.

Yelp
Another sketchy review. You really have to want to find this bakery. Chances are you will not happen upon it accidentally. Tucked into the back of a nondescript strip mall on a nondescript corner in a nondescript neighborhood of Garland, this joint isn't a hidden gem - it's a buried treasure worth searching for. This takeout only spot packs people in, most of whom are there for the bread and rolls. I went for the Banh Mi - specifically the roasted pork version, and was not disappointed. Plenty of tender pork, along with ample carrots, cilantro, jalapeños and a bit of pâté were tucked inside the crusty, yet soft and chewy roll. Outstanding! There is no place to eat inside, so be prepared to eat it in your car or risk temptation and suffer the ride to your dining destination. Do yourself a favor and search this place out!

Cheyenne R.

Yelp
Banh mi here are incredible. They're about $5-6 each and if you buy 2 you get 2 free. It's an incredible deal. The bread is all fresh made everyday. It's amazing. We are actually going to cater a couple hundred sandwiches for our wedding we loved it so much. The sandwiches also keep great in the fridge. We ate one the next day and it was as good or better than the previous day. 100% must go!!

Peter L.

Yelp
Bbq pork sandwich was nasty. So much fat and not much meat in there that I had to throw away all 3 sandwiches. The only good thing was their bread.

Jeff B.

Yelp
Roast pork bahn mi is one of the best all around bahn mi eaten on past 5 years. try ot, and others too, and enjoy yourself

Drue G.

Yelp
Delicious and great prices. Highly recommend. It's just a hole in the wall store front but great Bahn Mi sandwiches.

Gena D.

Yelp
My go-to bánh mì spot in Dallas! I always get 3 whenever I come because of their buy 2 get 1 free deal. The quality is always consistent - bread that's crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside, the perfect amount of pate and mayo in each, fresh meats. It can get a little busy during lunch time, but the cashiers are kind and efficient. I usually call in my order 20 minutes ahead of time, and I'm in and out quickly if there's no line.

Catherine Y.

Yelp
Hell yeah! Cheap and delicious. Buy 2 Get 1 Free deal makes it even better. I highly suggest getting #1 Rolled Ham and #10 Roasted Pork. Always super busy when I go and people also buy just their bread often. No places to eat inside so take it to-go or eat in your car. Tons of parking.

Connie H.

Yelp
It's a pretty limited menu, but an expansive banh mi menu. They've got all the banh mi's you could possibly crave, and all for b2g1free! Tasty filling, crispy baguette with soft insides, and offering to have the veggies inside or separate. Vietnamese coffee is delish and definitely strong the way it's supposed to be. Wish they were closer!

Tracey Z.

Yelp
No place in Texas beats the banh mi and authenticity of this little bakery. Walking in, it's a bit grimey but what authentic Asian place isn't. You cannot beat the prices here, $4 a banh mi yes please. The bread is freshly baked and crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside. I got the tuna, it was very flavorful and the veggies added a nice sour crunch. My only complaint is the pate, too much in my opinion but a great sandwich for a great price.

Christine P.

Yelp
I'm actually from Houston, but whenever I come to Dallas to visit my family (which is at least a couple of times a year), I always try my best to make an effort to come by here to order some banh mi. Definitely hands down, one of the best places to get banh mi. I've never had a grilled chicken banh mi that I've liked, until I came here. The chicken is so tender and is an absolute must get from here! I normally just order it for my ride back to Houston, and it's still good when I have it back in Houston. I also love that they have a buy 2, get 1 free deal. The prices here are already bang for your buck, but having a deal on top of that is fantastic. Definitely one of the top banh mi places I've had, and I highly recommend!

Sharon S.

Yelp
AN ABSOLUTE GEM IN DFW!! The best banhs mi in Texas hands down. The bread is crunchy and soft, the meat is packed with flavor and they generously add the pickled garnishes. On top of the authentic tasting banh mis the price is the BEST VALUE I've seen in my life. I'm ready to move to this area just to have these 3x a week. Cannot stress enough how much I love this placd

Mimi L.

Yelp
The best bánh mì in the DFW! This is my favorite place to grab bánh mì. If I live any closer, I would probably eat one everyday! And their buy 2 get 1 free deal is such a steal! The sandwich shop is tiny but clean. The service is quick and fast. Expect a line in the morning but they're pretty fast. You can call ahead and place an order to pick up later also. My favorite bánh mì to get is the #1 with extra mayo and extra pate. Their mayo and pate is the best I've had. Try it and you'll see what I mean.

Andrew D.

Yelp
by far, the best Bahn Mi in town. you must pick it up, there is no seating area because it is a bakery. Once you've had one of theirs, you'll go out of your way to get them

Lien N.

Yelp
I've heard good things about this place and decided to order some for my family so I got 36 banh mi to take it back to Austin. Their combination bánh mì was full of butter and fat. The bread was falling apart each bite like it was previously frozen, not freshly made. I couldn't finish it because fat was dripping off every time I take a bite. The grilled pork was bland and dry and the veggies were turning color because it's old. The worst bánh mì I've ever had in my life. I won't be coming back.

Patrick O.

Yelp
This place is unreal. In addition to being the cheapest sandwich I've ever bought in Dallas, it's probably the best also. Fresh rolls, fresh veggies, mayo that I want to slather on everything, the pate is dank. Please support this business, it's a total gem

Jason D.

Yelp
I went to 3 different banh mi shops in a day and this was definitely the best overall. ALSO BUY 2 GET 1 FREE!?!? Gotta start off this review with the price. This is an amazing deal that can't be beat. A banh mi costs around $4.5 each depending on the type you get, but it's also buy 2 get 1 free any day this shop is open. I went on a little adventure and tried 3 different banh mi places. Quoc Bao is definitely my favorite. The bread here I do feel like is lacking just a LITTLE bit compared to the other places I've tried, but the meat and filling inside the sandwich here is hands down the best. The meat is flavorful, it's not dry, and they give plenty of it. The pickled vegetables are cold, acidic, and go amazing in the sandwich. I love getting banh mi from here and will continue coming back here until I can find a place better than this. If you've never tried banh mi before or haven't tried this place in particular, I would highly recommend you go try Quoc Bao. With the price of each sandwich, the buy 2 get 1 free deal, and the quality of the sandwich, I don't think I will find a better banh mi shop for a while.

Cindy H.

Yelp
Every time I'm in Dallas, I have to visit Quoc Bao Bakery -- their banh mi are absolutely delicious. If you're ever in the area, I highly recommend it! We ordered the Rolled Ham Sub, Meatball Sub, Grilled Chicken Sub, BBQ Sub, Grilled Chicken & Meatball Sub, and BBQ Pork & Meatball Sub. Before going into details, everything (with the exception of Grilled Chicken Sub) was absolutely delicious. The only thing that would make Quoc Bao Bakery better would be to have crispier sandwiches. The Rolled Ham Sub may look and be simple, but it is absolutely delicious. You should get the Rolled Ham Sub if you like it clean, simple, and tasty. The Meatball Sub is one of my favorites -- anywhere I go, I tend to get it. If you enjoy a juicy sandwich with meatballs, this is definitely something you should go for. It's tasty, juicy, and great! The Grilled Chicken Sub was definitely one of my least favorites. Don't get me wrong -- it was tasty, but it wasn't delicious as the others. It was fairly dry, and there weren't enough condiments inside. However, if you love chicken, this is something you may want to try. Oh, the BBQ Sub -- this is my all-time favorite. It's tasty, juicy, and flavorful. It's one of the few things on the menu I always order. Even if you don't like BBQ, you should definitely try their BBQ sub -- it's juicy and not overwhelming. If you'd like to try the Grilled Chicken Sub but don't want to commit to only a Grilled Chicken Sub, try out their Grilled Chicken & Meatball Sub. As stated earlier, the Grilled Chicken Sub was a bit dry, but with the combination of Meatball Sub and Grilled Chicken Sub, the sandwich becomes a perfect blend. The BEST sandwich you can order is the BBQ Pork & Meatball Sub -- both are absolutely delicious and a combination of the two makes the best sandwich. It's juicy and tasty! Also, make sure you take advantage of their Buy 3 Get 1 Free -- on Thursdays and Saturdays, they have a special going on where you Buy 2 Get 1 Free.

Kou L.

Yelp
Always great banh mi sandwiches! They also have buy 2 and get 1 free which is always a steal! Quick and fast service. There are no seats for dine in. You can call and place your order for pick up. They also have vietnamese coffee, thai tea, bread, and desserts for sale.

Brian M.

Yelp
**Excellent Value, Service, Selection, and Quality** We visited on 11/04/23, and I just wanted to confirm that Quoc Bao Bakery is still deserving of its high praise from earlier reviews. Their sandwiches have all the components of a delicious banh mi: a wide variety of tasty proteins and fresh, crunchy vegetables packed into a crusty baguette. My favorite is the #4 Pork BBQ. My only disappointment is that the pate was not very generous; to be fair, many competitors substitute the pate with mayonnaise possibly to appease American palates or to reduce costs, so I am glad that the pate was still present. This is a minor complaint given the relatively inexpensive prices especially after their multiple-sandwich discounts. In future visits, I'll need to see if they offer extra pate on request. In an era of inflationary food prices and lackluster customer service, Quoc Bao Bakery stands out for doing everything they can to keep prices low without compromising quality. The trade off for low prices is a lack of ambiance; it is a cramped, no-frills shop in a drab strip mall with no dine-in seating, and they pass on the credit card fee if you don't pay in cash. However, judging from the long lines, I think that many people recognize what a gem this restaurant is; and for an inexpensive price, you can enjoy one of the best examples of one of the best contributions to world cuisine from Vietnam.

Min T.

Yelp
Always buy 3 get 1 free at $4/Banh Mi. The best Banh Mi in Dallas is served at a slum where you don't want to drive through in a high-end shiny car. The roads here crack so hard, they don't even bother changing the door sticker to say "Closed Monday & Tuesday," but instead, the store hours are taped on a paper. Don't let the disguise fool you. This Banh Mi place is on every DFW foodie magazine. This place has saved me through many month ends waiting for my next pay check. Get the Number 9 White Ham Sub, it's darn close to what is sold in Vietnam.

Stephen J.

Yelp
A cheap eat is the hallmark of a foodies dictionary. And to be a coveted cheap eat an establishment must bridge the gap between great food and value usually under $10. This hole in the wall establishment came in handy because I arrived here famished and in need of a snack for lunch. This is a must stop for those traveling in the Dallas area and a blessing for those that live in this area. It's one of those restaurants that you could easily review every day and have something nicer to say about it each time. I tried the Bánh mì Pork, Meatball and Grilled chicken. All three were delicious. The baguette was fresh and the meat was seasoned perfectly with the liver paste adding the zest needed to pull off a Bánh mì the authentic way! Treat yourself!

M C.

Yelp
Really the BEST fresh bread! $4.00 Buy 2 get 1 free on Sat. I got #1 Rolled Ham, more then 3 pcs meat compare to other restaurants.

Jina N.

Yelp
The banh mi was all bland. It wasn't delicious or tasteful. I got the xiu mai aka meatball and it was very bland and watery. I also got the thit nuong aka BBQ pork, which is very dry and looks like pull pork not grilled. This place don't use enough seasoning or marination. Their pate was great too. They spread on thick layer of butter and half of the pate. It was just not good at all. And at that time, I was so hungry, i took a bite and it was not appetizing. I think Ba Le in arlington is still the best banh mi.

Elaine M.

Yelp
Best Banh Mi in DFW. Small shop with BIG Flavor. On a whim drove down to pick up some sandwiches for lunch. Ordered a Roasted Pork, Grilled Chicken, and a BBQ Pork (yes there are two types of pork!) and found out that I get an additional free sandwich?! They run a very efficient ship there and it was BUSY. The cashier told me it would be a 15 min wait so, it being covid times and the shop has very little space, I waited in the car. The minute I stepped back, they were holding out my bag of sandwiches out to me. They have a large plexi glass up and it is very easy to order. I would recommend calling ahead if you are familiar with the menu and know what you want. That's what I'll probably do next time!

Keven W.

Yelp
We found this through my brother girlfriend as they are rating and raving over this place. They have a deal where it is buy 2 get 1 free on Thursday and Saturday. But regularly it is buy 3 get 1 free which is not too bad with all things consider. Okay the downside is when you see the bread you are thinking you are getting a pretty big sandwich. But the bread you see out in front is not what you are going to get and it is much smaller. I should saw the sandwich size is about 8 inches by 2 inches. My brother's girlfriend likes the meatball, but I thought it was just okay. I had the roasted pork meat and it was good and the chicken as well as they put in the patte. My wife likes #1 which I will try next time. I did like the dessert as well. Sandwiches I believe were $4.00 each. I would come here again for the sandwiches.

Mark C.

Yelp
Good cheap close on mondays takes cash and card. Buy 10 get one free. Can ask for veggies on the side. I recommend the steak

John A.

Yelp
Quoc Bao Bakery is located in a shopping mall in Garland and definitely worth the trip. Once you step into this quaint storefront, you are greeted by a warm and friendly staff and easy to follow menu. Yelp Tip: On Saturday's, It's buy two Bahn Mi's and get one free. This place is also cash only if I am not mistaken. If you are in the mood for a great cheap meal this is the place to be. The Bahn me sandwiches that stand out are the "Roasted Pork and BBQ Pork Sandwich. The bread is a fluffy cloud of deliciousness. The sandwiches comes with fresh vegetables and toppings. Vietnamese coffee is a nice treat for those that like an iced coffee treat in the afternoon.

Michael K.

Yelp
Excellent sandwiches! Buy 2, get 1 free! Meatball is outstanding! No dine-in, but man were they good when I got home. Highly recommended!

Joly B.

Yelp
Good banh mi. Reasonable price. However they make you wait because they make the sandwich as you order it.

Elizabeth S.

Yelp
I found this place by looking at reviews which were phenomenal. We tried a few different things. The price, as you know, is a pretty penny. I thought it was good, but the service I received from the owners son was kind of rude the first time. I went back once more, and he was pleasant.

Sandra W.

Yelp
I literally just ate here and was so compelled to write this review because it was so damn good. The bread is just perfect, crunchy but not hard, the pickled vegetables were just pickled right, and the pate was the perfect amount. I didn't take a picture of it because I was too busy eating. It's buy 3 get 1 free, so I got 8. Breakfast, lunch, dinner. And a vietnamese coffee is $2.75. if I lived closer, I would be here everyday.

Eunice K.

Yelp
Wow, this place is bustling! A constant flow of people going in and out while we were waiting for our sandwiches and I understand why! Their Banh mi sandwiches are full of flavor and they add a good amount of meat and veggies. It also looks like they had some type of mayo and pate as a spread. Yum! The price for one Bahn mi is so affordable and they offer a "buy 3, get one free" deal. How awesome is that! I paid around $15 bucks for a total of 4 sandwichs!

Robert K.

Yelp
Great whole in the wall Bahn mi shop. Have subs too. Fresh and good. Prices are amazing. Don't go for the ambiance. Go for the authenticity.

Worldtravels J.

Yelp
A must try. Saw this on TikTok from #Tonycueggrolls and his review did not disappoint! I got the same sandwich as him, the #1 which is a rolled ham. So freaking good. I would have never stopped to try this hidden gem had it not been for Tony! It is a very unassuming storefront in a strip center. If you are in the area stop by! I am so glad I did the Thai tea is also delicious.

Judy L.

Yelp
Love it! I love the vinegared veggies- they give you enough so you can actually taste it unlike the other places I've been to. My favorite was #1. I thought BBQ pork was the popular one but ended up I thought #1 was the tastiest, then BBQ chicken, and BBQ pork was just okay for me. For now I've tried 3, will be back to try other ones or might just stick with #1 since I liked it so much. It was a great deal too, buy 2 get 1 free!

Meredith N.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! We are visiting from out of town, and were told Garland had the best Vietnamese food. Found Quoc Bao Bakery thanks to Yelpers- we loved every bite! We ordered two #10s, and got a #3 free (buy 2 get 1). Such reasonable prices, and just so yummy. We called ahead and picked up when we got there- would recommend doing so. Can't wait to go back!

M C.

Yelp
Whenever I crave banh mi, this is my go to place. I always order grilled pork banh mi. Its pate is not gamely as some other places. The 2 for 1 deal is another incentive; great value and flavor. Just wish the bakery opens every day.
