"Raab’s has been around since the 1940s, but its current Essex Road premises are slightly younger than that. The place majors on old-fashioned baked things, along with made-to-order sandwiches. This is packed lunch food, so go for something comforting, like the corned beef in a crusty roll, a packet of cheese and onion crisps and a fizzy drink. Maybe a steak bake too. Aside from Raab’s, the best thing around here is Asteys Row Rock Garden, a peaceful place to sit down and eat. After taking a load off underneath the shade of a willow tree, go for a leisurely stroll down The New River Walk to Canonbury." - Isaac Rangaswami

Took me several go's, as the opening times aren't always accurate and they are often completely sold out well before closing time. Nevertheless, I was pretty pleased when I got it right! It is the usual quality of a good, decent Jewish bakery. They don't overcharge, they are not fancy, but what I had was excellent value and tasted great. Love these places 🥰

This place is an institution and really holds its own within London’s ever expanding bakery - great quality bakes and excellent prices.

Since hearing the recommendations of this bakery, it is now one of my favourite spots for lunch when I've not prepared ahead! Affordable prices and great value for money!! Delicious baked goods with fantastic savoury options!! Fresh cream horns served on a Fri/Sat are the ones!!!!

Was a proud customer of this bakery for last 2 years, coming every Tuesday as working in neighbourhood health centre… sometimes even twice a day. The baking and deli section is delicious, fresh and one of the kind. Unfortunately I was quite badly treated by the lady of their customer service today, and this experience left quite bad taste in my mouth so I, with regret, never come back again. I was politely standing in the queue as I always do. The gentleman known by other ladies skipped the queue to get to the deli (and I just would like to order a coffee) and after he being served, the other gentleman also wanted to skip the queue. I was not instructed that apparently there are two queues- for the bread and for the deli, so when I said to the other gentleman who wanted skip the queue that I just would like to buy w coffee and actually I am in the queue, the lady serving the bread in really rude manner replied very loudly- you are in the wrong queue, then. But none really bothered to be more helpful and proactively say that if anyone wanted something for the deli please come to the counter (and for last two years I was never ‘in the wrong queue’). I understand that it can be quite busy there but no reason to serve people that you know well first, and no reason to be so rude and unhelpful and unkind from customer service. That was not very nice experience and I will never leave my money there any more.

Just great. A traditional bakery that seem to be few and far between.

I recently visited this local bakery, and I was thoroughly impressed. Their sausage rolls were delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors and a flaky crust that left me craving more. The almond Danishes were a delightful treat, and they had just the right amount of sweetness. What truly stood out, aside from the mouthwatering pastries, was the staff. They were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, making my visit all the more enjoyable. If you're in the mood for delectable baked goods and a warm, friendly atmosphere, this bakery is a must-visit. I'll be returning for more of their scrumptious treats and the welcoming smiles of their staff.

Popped in there today & the staff are lovely! I got a selection of their goodies & they are so good!! Donut stick, hot cross buns and brownie! All for less than £5! One of the BEST bakeries I’ve been too. Definitely will be back again 😁

I don't even live in this part of London but I know a good window display when I see it. I was not wrong when I bought a couple of apple tarts. It was better than any supermarket premium range, even better than Paul's "tarte au pomme".
