Raab’s The Bakers - Review - Islington - London - The Infatuation

"Raab’s is a historic Islington bakery which makes you wonder why we’re still trying to innovate when a slab of perfect, aggressively sprinkled birthday cake exists for under £2. There are sausage rolls—a little greasy, but always warm—to devour under bus shelters on rainy days. Iced buns to be taken home and savoured in slippers, with a tea that has seven sugars in it. And a list of bap fillings so long you’ll have to wave multiple customers ahead while you desperately scan it. Expect to be called “love” a lot and to get a warm fuzzy feeling while staring at rows of Tottenham cake, crème slices, and other nostalgic favourites that time, and that micro-bakery with miso cookies and merch, forgot." - Sinéad Cranna

The Best Dishes in London Restaurants | Eater London

"The Yum Yum — a glazed, chewy-lean hybrid between an iced bun and a doughnut — is a standout bargain: pleasantly chewy interior with a fried edge and satisfying sweetness, representing excellent old-school baking at affordable prices from a long-established neighborhood shop." - Sean Wyer

London’s Best Old Bakeries | Eater London

"Raab’s has been around since the 1940s, but its current Essex Road premises are slightly younger than that. The place majors on old-fashioned baked things, along with made-to-order sandwiches. This is packed lunch food, so go for something comforting, like the corned beef in a crusty roll, a packet of cheese and onion crisps and a fizzy drink. Maybe a steak bake too. Aside from Raab’s, the best thing around here is Asteys Row Rock Garden, a peaceful place to sit down and eat. After taking a load off underneath the shade of a willow tree, go for a leisurely stroll down The New River Walk to Canonbury." - Isaac Rangaswami

I love Raab's! Not the swankiest pastries in town but maybe the best! An old school place serving up delicious, substantial and reasonably priced goods, all baked fresh on site, who wouldn't love that? The doughnuts are tremendous, all of them! Apple may be my favourite, large and well filled, more akin to a calzone with soft, fluffy pastry 😋 Biscoff, chocolate and nut or simple ring, you cannot go wrong 😁 The apple danish is also amazing and the recently discovered cheesecake cinnamon roll is well worth a try 😘 A great neighbourhood bakery, just wish it was in my neighbourhood 😏

Took me several go's, as the opening times aren't always accurate and they are often completely sold out well before closing time. Nevertheless, I was pretty pleased when I got it right! It is the usual quality of a good, decent Jewish bakery. They don't overcharge, they are not fancy, but what I had was excellent value and tasted great. Love these places 🥰

Good traditional bakery with decent food and good prices. I wanted a sandwich while walking my dog, who understandably couldnt come in so they helpfully served me from the door so I didn't need to tie her up! Will be back.

Loved this place! The lady who helped me was very kind and attentive. They have such a wide selection of sweet and salty, both for great prices. I took home a bag of like 5 high-quality pastries for 5 pounds, which I feel is unheard of in London. Overall, would love to come back ⭐️ (P.S. The pastries with the smiley faces were so so sweet I got a smiley doughnut hole and it brightened my day ☺️)

Popped in there today & the staff are lovely! I got a selection of their goodies & they are so good!! Donut stick, hot cross buns and brownie! All for less than £5! One of the BEST bakeries I’ve been too. Definitely will be back again 😁

A friend of mine has been recommending this place for years but until this morning I had never been in. Bread is made fresh on site, lots of sweeter options too. I went for a filled roll. It was huge, tasty and worth the £5
