Rabbi's Daughter - Review - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"A kosher butcher in Westwood, Rabbi’s Daughter has a great selection of choice and prime beef, along with grass-fed lamb and veal, and free-range chicken. They’ve got super-friendly butchers who will answer all your questions about how to cook a filet versus a New York strip, and they’ve got some great prepared meats, too. We recommend the pastrami and the seasoned lamb patties. For more info, visit their website, or call (310) 234-2600 to order. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Team Infatuation

Very patient staff. I don't usually order sandwiches, but I was ordering for my family and they walked me through what they have. Every part of the order came out right. I had the Moroccan Fish and it was delicious.

Google
Rabbi’s Daughter is, without a doubt, the best butcher in LA—and it’s not just the quality of their kosher meat that stands out. Every cut is incredibly fresh and tender. Whether you're grabbing a quick steak or stocking up for a special occasion, you can trust that you’re getting the best of the best. The staff is always friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to help, making each visit feel warm and personal. Plus, the market itself is absolutely adorable, with a charming atmosphere that makes shopping here a joy. If you're in LA and want top-notch kosher meat with amazing service, Rabbi’s Daughter is your go-to!

Google
A friend recommended I order my meat from here and I am so glad I did. The owner was helpful in recommending the perfect cut of beef for what I was making. The beef is kosher, grass fed and is the best quality! I won't go anywhere else! I am a customer for life.

Google
Fantastic quality meats and the owner and employees are the greatest. So kind and thorough. Quality people, quality meats.

Google
Fresh meat of very high quality and fresh produce. Also, made to order lunch items are absolutely delicious.

Google
Good neighborhood butcher. They have excellent steak but you can't get pork for some reason... 😂

Google
This is one of the truly great kosher shops in The West. Yisrael and his staff have an appreciation of their craft and their customers and serve finest quality product with an expertise unmatched in ordinary markets of any description. Just be courteous and patient while they serve the person before you - especially as the Sabbath or Holidays approach!

Google
Have been coming to this butcher for several years. It is a bit overpriced but conveniently located. I wanted to place my order ahead of time to avoid waiting. Website suggests calling or sending an email. No one answers the phone so I emailed. I received a response that my email went to junk but that my order was confirmed and it would be ready for pick up between 2-3 pm. I arrived at 2:50 there was no order to be found and the place was packed. Asked the owner if they were first preparing my order, his response was SO RUDE I was shocked. They couldn’t find the record of my order although I showed them the confirmation email. Not only did I have to wait for the order to be prepared , some of the items I ordered were no longer available. I spent $600 on meat and he is going to have a bad attitude?!?!?! Horrible!!! There are plenty of kosher butchers in LA that would appreciate the business and at the very least apologize. I totally understand it’s a super busy time for them but treat your customers kindly and with respect ! Will not be shopping here again and suggest you look elsewhere

Yelp
Excellent quality and selection. Always find something new to try. Easy parking in rear off of Westwood Blvd.

Yelp
I also had my second time coming here to pic up some fresh meats at the Rabbi's Daughter. The fresh Kosher meats here are FIRE. Especially if you know how to season and cook them yourself. I also purchased some cold cutt sandwiches which are good here too. NIce service as well. ALways a pleasure to visit again.

Yelp
Great operation, clean place, convenient and reasonably priced for the quality meats and meals you get. The service is phenomenal as well.

Yelp
About a week ago, I went here and spent almost $600 on meats. I got a variety of chicken, beef in multiple different cuts and a bunch of the prepackaged sausages and also some lunch meat. I froze the meat instantly when I got home and since then, I have used the sausages which were delicious and a cut of the beef, which was also delicious and the chicken breast. However, the chicken thighs and the two whole cut up chickens that I ordered literally smell, rotten and like boiled eggs. It's a shame because the two whole chickens and the 10 pound of thighs that I ordered is over $100 wasted that I just had to throw away. I've never smelled something so bad in my life. I live way too far away to come back and get a refund so I figured I'd just give people a heads up. When I purchased the meat, I had a giant meat cooler for transport, and none of the other meats had any type of smell. The guy is working behind the counter were awesome and very kind and I would consider going back here. However I wouldn't purchase chicken from this location. It had a yellow color as well, which is not normal. The chicken breasts were the only piece of chicken that I bought that did not have a yellow color and did not smell awful.

Yelp
They sell good meat at tip-top prices. $27/lb for a bone-in ribeye is a bit much. Factor in the bone and you're paying close to $33/lb. I go there when I can't find a kosher steak at TJ's or Costco, who always have kosher ground beef at fair prices. A kosher butcher with fair prices would do great in West LA.

Yelp
This place feels sad. Everyone who works there looks very unhappy. None of them are passionate about the food they offer and don't even have a recommendation on what to try. I had the pastrami sandwhich, and it was small and flavorless. It tasted more like a mustard sandwich. The meat was flavorless and acts more like a filler. The chicken thigh sandwhich was gross, it tastes like fish. Why does their chicken taste like fish? The only point I'll give then is that they have a lot of ingredients to choose from if your gonna make our dish, but with the quality of the food I tried I'm not sure that I would trust anything else they sell.

Yelp
Wonderful food and service. We used Rabbi's Daughter to cater an office lunch, and we couldn't be happier. Support this business as it is top notch!

Yelp
Even on a crazy day before Passover they are helpful and friendly. Also the playlist could have been my own music

Yelp
Ordered lunch for 20 ninety minutes before we needed to pick up at a very busy time. Israel and his team came through. All the food was delicious. And the service was excellent!
google avatar

Yelp
Went in there to get a sandwich. No one came up or asked for help. Decided I just wanted a soda since there is no place to sit down. I stand by the register and no one says someone will be with you or anything. I held the soda over my head and said I'd like to pay for this. No one moved. I said I'm going to walk out with this soda. No one did anything. I put the soda back and walked out. Not sure what this place is but it felt like I was in a twilight zone where everyone would make eye contact and then look away or pretend to busy themselves. I was there when it was just myself and my friend. But obviously this place is full of poorly programmed robots from the matrix. If you want to ever engage with NPC's here is the spot! So weird.

Yelp
Holy Moses the hot pastrami sandwich was deeelicious. I ordered everything for delivery which included the sandwich mentioned above, the chicken soup, fries and an Israeli salad. It was all good. The soup was yummy. I have to say that I make a mean chicken soup but this one was good as well. Maybe not as hood but that is just my personal opinion. I was not a huge fan of the Israeli salad. Was heavy on the cucumber but everything was very fresh and if you are a cucumber fan this is the salad for you. The food arrived quick and hot.

Yelp
Such a great little shop. I love all of their marinated meats. Their schnitzel is so great (you buy it pounded and breaded and cook it at home), their hummus and other dips are delicious, and they sell got kosher pretzel challah! Also, the owner and staff are really nice. I try to pop in here weekly for some high-quality meat.

Pamela A.

Yelp
At Rabbi's Daughter, the quality and service are impeccable! I've never had a cut of meat or chicken from this amazing kosher butcher that was anything less than outstanding.
google avatar

Arash A.

Yelp
We placed an order over the phone for several items. One item that we regularly get is the chicken fajitas, Which are amazing. Pre seasoned with veggies ready to grill up and eat! Unfortunately, the photos clearly show we did not get what we ordered and paid for. It was very disappointing when my wife opened up the package only to find out she has to essentially make them from scratch. We also ended up over paying for.......chicken. Very disappointing to so the least.
google avatar

Judith G.

Yelp
I drive over at least once or twice a week to but their rotisserie chicken which is delish. as well as order their schnitzel sandwich. Also, I always buy their hummus, and Israeli pita bread, and Moroccan salad. Excellent service.

Yelp
Kosher, even has a sealed kosher sticker for both the box and the bag. Got the lamb and chicken sandwhich. The lamb sandwhich and accompanying hummus/tahini was delicious, wish they provided more sauce. The salad and humus as annotated on the menu came inside the sandwich as opposed to on the side which was shown in pictures at the store. Convenient 2 street site meter parking so you can run in and pick up the food. If you're ordering on the phone, be careful to make sure you know exactly what and how much you ordered because there's no set cashier but rather a single family owner tallying everything up on a calculator then charging you one final line item (he accidentally over charged me two dishes because of this). The matzo ball soul was on par with authentic Jewish cuisines (my boyfriend loved it). There were slightly too much celery and large carrot bits in my matzo ball soup (chicken noodle soup) as it was more of a Jewish chicken noodle soup as opposed to an Americanized chicken noodle soup. The matzo ball itself was great in consistency and it's mild flavor. Would order from here again but wouldn't necessarily crave it too often.

Yelp
loved this place finally excellent quality kosher meats we bought a cooler down the street and bought a ton of steak, chicken, lamb and brisket and brought back to vegas.

Naty C.

Yelp
Bad customer service, terrible dry food. Not clean. Expensive Spend ur money elsewhere
google avatar

Dan W.

Yelp
They are more of a food store, no place to eat there. Not so impressive. I went to by Matzo Ball Soup, too expensive.
google avatar

Sophie A.

Yelp
I agree with other people that the prices and wait time are higher than expected. So either order ahead or be sure you're not pressed for time. We got the hot pastrami sandwich and while the sandwich itself was delicious, the amount of pastrami for the price doesn't cut it. What we received was way smaller than the photo on the website and for $18 you certainly expect more. The person I was with wasn't a fan of the pastrami to mustard to onion ratio and said they couldn't really taste the pastrami because of it 1. the lack of meat and 2. the large quantity of onions. Personally, I didn't mind and quite liked amounts of grilled onions and mustard. The pastrami was at least high quality and juicy! Happy to support a local business and look at all the different snacks and foods inside.

Yelp
Came here on a weekday afternoon looking for food to go. I'd say overall this place is a great deli/butcher shop that sells hot food on the side, but I wouldn't come here specifically just for a cooked meal. Food (6/10): Disclaimer* I'm reviewing the hot foods they sell not the fresh meats. Chicken shawarma lunch special - comes with a good portion of chicken shawarma and pita bread along with my chosen sides of hummus and salad. Although I appreciated the portion size of the shawarma, it wasn't seasoned. The salad also was more of a vegetable mix that looks like it has a dressing but you can't taste it. Overall this lunch special was very simply made with no flavors or seasoning. I guess I should've expected this from a place that specializes in selling raw ingredients. I would suggest that people try out the pastrami or schnitzel sandwiches instead as my fellow yelpers seemed to have good experiences with those. Value (6/10): Not as good as I expected from a deli where they cut out the middle man. The lunch costs around $15 for a box. Service/ambience (6/10): The service is kinda slow. Had to wait about 15 mins for someone to make my meal. I was the only one ordering hot food. Again I think the recurring theme is that you should buy ingredients not hot foods. Inside there is a nice authentic neighborhood shop and butcher shop vibe.

Yelp
Love this butcher! Convenient, clean, friendly staff. Very happy with their meat, produce and ready made food!

Yelp
If you ever want the finest meat right at home, I suggest you buy from Rabbis Daughter! This meat was the best! Just added a little salt/pepper butter and garlic amazing!

Susan M.

Yelp
Best butcher shop in town clean best staff best service best cook food and lots of variety it almost a small supermarket love to shop there

Michal L.

Yelp
The meat is decent here, but the employees behind the meat counter are incredibly rude and insulting. Terrible experience. Who are these people? If you want to see uncivil behavior, go here.
google avatar

Yelp
I Highly recommend this place. Old fashion service at its best. Always fresh and fast.

Yelp
Good quality, wait, excellent quality meat. Top cuts. I tried both the ground meat and steaks. Pricy, but with it. Each steak was about $30, but it was an amazing meat. I'm not sure my seasoninh is what made it so good. I think it was a good base, aka meat.

Yelp
RB is about halfway between Olympic & Pico on Westwood. They have a superb variety of Kosher foods both from the US and Israel under strict Rabbinical supervision Their deli makes great sandwiches as well as having the best cuts of Kosher meats. I was able to get a large can of my favorite Israeli instant coffee and the tasty wafers. The hummus, fish and salads are amazing. They were very busy but service was still very prompt and accurate. RB is my favorite Kosher grocery in Westwood.
google avatar

Natalie S.

Yelp
Great kosher meats and other readymade foods. Some meats are organic. Always fine quality.

Yelp
Places like this are why I love LA. This spot is small but loaded with eastern euro foods of all kinds but my bro-in-law and I went in for lunch and I had to try the pastrami sammich ( I'm from Chicago and that how we say it! - ha!) and he went with the hot turkey sandwich. Keep in mind there are no dining tables in nor near this joint but Eric and I found a box in the parking lot to sit on and enjoy the perfect day. The service is excellent, the place is super clean, and the manager even came over to apologize for the long wait time in making our lunch even thought we did not think it was long at all. Super nice guy BTW. For me, the pastrami was too fatty but it's mode right there and is perfectly layered with grilled onions and a Russian-style sauce on a marbled rye bread. Really great and it was not too large - just right for a lunch. Eric's turkey was also really good but he had a nibble of my pastrami and wished he would have gotten it instead. So, for something different and REALLY good, and you are near the Tehrangeles neighborhood, give this place a try?

Yelp
I went to Rabbis Daughter on Friday and got Chicken Soup to go. the soup was so bland i had to add loads of seasoning to make it taste good. You would think that they would know how to make a good Chicken Soup Broth like the Jewish Delis.
google avatar

Jessica C.

Yelp
Went back again and found this place to be delicious! . My mistake possibly the incorrect business . 5 stars
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Awesome spot. Had the chicken pita. So goooood. Their tabbouleh is off the chaiiinn. Hummus is bomb too. Just go or order literally anything. Doing yourself a disservice to wait
google avatar

Shay N.

Yelp
The Meat here is the best, probably the best you could find in this area. The store is just not sanitary at all. I see the workers in the back taking the trash out with their gloves on. I see them on their cell phones with their gloves on. They are very unsanitary. I highly doubt they go inside and change their gloves before using them again. I want to love this place because of the quality of the meat, but the personal hygiene of the employees is awful. I have seen them in the back parking lot using their gloves to do everything and I am not sure they replace the gloves when they go inside. Not sure I would be able to trust how sanitary they are on the inside as well.

Yelp
I came-in for lamb chops or related and they were completely out of stock other than one piece that was a pound and not a good fit. My only complaint is that they were out of what I needed.
google avatar

Shawn T.

Yelp
We liked the cooked brisket we ordered from them, but did not care for the rice it came with. Matzo balls were good but the soup was a bit greasy. We will return and try other items.
google avatar

Angel M.

Yelp
Called to order food the gentleman was very helpful and kind. Went there and was pleasantly surprised by how clean and fresh their meats were. The packaged chicken in the side fridges were also convenient to grab some stuff for later. The shawarma plate was good and a sandwich was great. Will definitely order and also shop for meats again. Friendly service, clean and quality. What else do you want
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
Got take-out sandwiches for ten friends to get in the mood for the Skirball exhibit on Jewish Delicatessens. The store got the complicated order just right and on time. Oh, and the hot pastrami sandwiches were excellent--the best I've had this side of the Carnegie Deli on 7th Ave.
google avatar

Edward R.

Yelp
2 stars for the sandwich but wth i asked for the everything special so i order anymeat mix sandwhich for 10-11 they charge me 15 wth i ask for a small chicken soup they charge me for a large so both came up to 28 bucks for lunch on top nobody was friendly to take my order which was expensive af. Shoulda went to jersey mikes
google avatar

Yelp
The place is clean, the staff is friendly, the meat is delicious and organic. Israel, the butcher, is passionate about his product and service and places high attention to details to achieve this level of boutique experience. Highly recommended.

Yelp
This was our second time in a row ordering a prime rib from Rabbi's Daughter for our Thanksgiving dinner and both times, we received an absolutely beautiful cut of meat. This year, we ordered the four bone-in for about $200 and it was the perfect size for our family of three with plenty of leftovers. The marbling of the meat was quite exceptional and the meat didn't really need much seasoning -- it was pretty perfect. During COViD, the shop has a limit on capacity and only allows a few people inside at a time. We did have to wait almost 30 minutes to get inside (but remember, this was the day before Thanksgiving -- this may not be the typical experience). We highly recommend Rabbi's Daughter and we will most likely come back next year for Thanksgiving again.
google avatar

Paul G.

Yelp
Nice Deli tasty sandwiches but should call em wish sandwiches. 2 pieces of bread and ya wish you had some meat. For the price. Not worth it. I won't go back.
google avatar

Estevan L.

Yelp
The hot pastrami on rye is amazing, and the schnitzel on baguette! Oh my god! So good.

Yelp
We order lunch once a week through Postmates. We love the lunch specials and sandwiches!! I always add the baba ghanoush salad - it's the best I ever had! We also decided to try the platters today! We enjoyed every bite!
google avatar

Yelp
Around 2 years ago, I contacted Rabbi's Daughter and dealt directly with Israel who helped me and my family when we needed catering for a memorial service. Not only was the food exceptional, but the care, concern and customer service from Israel and his team really made the process smooth and free of stress. Ever since then, my wife and I have been regulars and have even ordered online from them at least once per week. Thank you all for keeping the quality of your food high and prioritizing your customer's experiences. If anyone is looking for a wholesome and filling treat, you need to try their Cholent! SOOOO GOOOD!!!!
google avatar

Donna H.

Yelp
Ordered matzo ball soup... excellent! Loved it delivery was fast easy Thank you!a small price to pay when your sick and want grandmas soup to feel better
google avatar

Sonia R.

Yelp
Came here to get a quick bite for lunch. Shared the hot pastrami sandwich and schnitzel with the hubby. The schnitzel sandwich was really big and probably would have been enough for us. The meat in both was very fresh and tender, and both sandwiches were overall really good. It's actually a butcher more than a deli but they still have a good amount of meal options. The butcher section seems to have really fresh meat and all that cuts you cam ask for. Will probably come here for meats from now on.

Yelp
I always hated going to the small (and oftentimes a bit grungy) Kosher markets further eastward in town to get my meat. I was delighted to hear that Rabbi's Daughter was opening on Pico/Westwood so much more convenient, and this place is the exact opposite of those other places - Clean, and well designed. Convenient parking in the back. None of the rude pushing and shoving that happens in other markets (have the patrons never seen food before?). Presentation is great too. Israel (the owner, and married to the Rabbi's Daughter) and the rest of his staff are knowledgable and friendly. They also carry other Kosher goods, and also offer cooked to order foods for the high holidays (although I imagine they will also cook during the non high holidays too). The Rabbi's Daughter also had in stock the most delicious Apple-Plum Cake for Yom Kippur from an outside but Kosher Vendor. It was outstanding. Anybody who knows me knows that I am loathe to shop for food, but I have been raving about Rabbi's daughter to anybody I know who shops for meat. Highly Recommended!!!!!!

Susan M.

Yelp
We wanted to order a duck for New Year's and did so from the Rabbi's Daughter. I must say it was a wonderful duck but cost a bit under $60. It only came with the neck, no giblets or liver which was a problem for me. We returned and bought pastrami that has to be pre-packaged as it is slippery and salty. The chicken swarma is just marinated cut up chicken. The brisket is good but it is definitely sweet. The roast chicken is tasty but not crispy.
