The 33 Best Restaurants in Zurich, Switzerland | Eater

"There are some days when you want the classic no-frills version of a dish and some days when you want to play. You can have it both ways at Raclette Factory, which allows you to choose your own adventure with the beloved Swiss classic. Options range from traditional raclette to a garlic-infused variety to blue cheese. While the cheese is typically melted and scraped onto potatoes, bread or mashed potatoes are also available here, served with pickled onions and cornichons. The restaurant is also a good option for a lunchtime flammkuchen, a type of tarte flambee." - N.A. Mansour

I had a very relaxing, outdoor lunch here. It was nice to watch the people walk by as I sipped my beer. The service was very kind and very fast. I had three different friendly employees check on me while I was there. Compared to prices at other restaurants, they were one of the most affordable options. The food was delicious too. I had the Klara which was 1/2 fondue over potatoes and half fondue over bread. I enjoyed both but the Heidi (cheese over potatoes) was better than the Peter. The cocktail onions are strangely good with the cheese! So much so, that next time, I’ll ask for more onions. The cheese comes melted over the bread and potatoes, as opposed to having a huge dish of fondue that you have to dip an entire loaf of bread in. I felt like this was much less wasteful for a solo traveler or a couple wanting to share something not too heavy. The cheese does cool quickly though, so it won’t be ooey gooey for very long.

Google
I very much enjoyed here. I had Klara to try two cheeses at once. Meals was tasty and enough to get me full. I was there durning workday, we had no problem with a table for two. Prices are okay. Place is in the old city, so you can do small brake during sightseeing to grab tasty lunch. Can recommend it.

Google
This was a very basic dish, consisting simply of pickles, boiled potato, and cheese. While the cheese was genuinely good, the rest of the components were unremarkable. It's difficult to rate such a simple dish, but what I can confidently say is that the price is quite expensive for what you get. From my observation, most customers here seem to be tourists. Overall, I don't think it's worth it, and you can likely find comparable or better cheese experiences elsewhere.

Google
Nice unique swiss experience. Raclette is famous to Switzerland, and I figured this would be a good spot for it. They've got a few different options/flavors. I ended up opting to make my own. I did garlic and truffle cheese. Both were delicious. I also added bacon, which was a great choice. The service was very good. Only thing is that it feels quite pricey for what it is... potatoes and cheese... other than that, great experience!

Google
It is what it is, a casual raclette place. The ingredients were good, but we were expecting to do our own raclette at the table so that the cheese doesn’t harden up too soon. The atmosphere was ok, service god though. Location is very convenient so if you just want something casual then it’s a good place but I don’t expect a really good raclette experience. We like the truffle raclette the most

Evita Hadiz

Google
We enjoyed our dinner there, nice table seating, nice atmosphere and of course good food. We tried the raclette with side order of suasage, just perfect. Very filling, good after a longbwalk and you are hungry. The flambe and the garlic bread just wonderful.

Monica Schüller

Google
Nice atmosphere, tasty food. I ordered "Heidi raclete". Cheese and potatoes were great with onions and pickles. I just wished it were a bigger portion. Price a little bit overpriced, as everything in Switzerland is. I recommend for sure and will come back to this restaurant.

Google
Raclette Factory in Zürich was a great surprise. The service was outstanding—friendly, efficient, and genuinely welcoming. The place itself feels relaxed and inviting, perfect for enjoying a comforting Swiss meal. Our food arrived quickly and was perfectly prepared, with rich flavors and decent portions. The dessert was just as impressive—simple, delicious, and a great finish to the meal. A must-visit for raclette lovers looking for quality and great service in the city center, regardless the time of the year. Free wi-fi inside!

Yelp
Small little shop, service is European (‍) food is good and decently priced considering location. Would go back.

Yelp
Came here at 3pm on a Saturday. Relatively packed for the time actually. Got seated with really friendly service. Ordered the Make Your Own Raclette with Garlic and Smoked Cheese, mashed potatoes, and bacon. Order came out really quick. I would have to say the first few bites were amazing, cheesy goodness with mashed potatoes and bacon, who can complain? But I would say, halfway through the meal, the cheese and bacon were getting too much. The cheese was getting too salty and the bacon was too greasy. I was overall happy with the experience considering I had to try Raclette as one of the popular Swiss dish but I would highly recommend sharing this dish despite their recommendation that the serving size is one per person.

Yelp
Nice unique swiss experience. Raclette is famous to Switzerland, and I figured this would be a good spot for it. They've got a few different options/flavors. I ended up opting to make my own. I did garlic and truffle cheese. Both were delicious. I also added bacon, which was a great choice. The service was very good. They have some nice outdoor and indoor seating options and quite close to the water. Only thing is that it feels quite pricey for what it is... potatoes and cheese... other than that, great experience!

Yelp
What an amazing little find! You can have any concoction of cheese you want. If you want to share there is an additional fee so you might as well just come hungry and get your own. Worth a try and I bet you will love it! If you love cheese! If you don't like cheese don't come here.
google avatar

Shalini G.

Yelp
I knew I would be in the area and my Yelp bud Chun reviewed this spot... I like cheese so I decided the kids and I would stop in for cheese. I am very happy we did! we had cheese with bread and cheese with potatoes and more potatoes. that being said... the only negative is that my daughter and I generally share food so we can try something else sooner in the day...but this spot asks that everyone orders for themself. I did not like that. I didn't question the policy and we ordered for all 3 of us. we had ample leftovers that we enjoyed later that night. Raclette is yummy

Yelp
Why yes, I DO recommend the Raclette Factory! There are bad tourist traps, and then there are awesome tourist traps, and this place is awesome!!! The food is delicious and memorable, the staff is welcoming and accommodating, and the atmosphere, while quaint and if anything... a little cramped, is perfectly located for historic Zurich exploring. A lovely spot, that will set you off in just the right way on your Swiss food adventures.

Yelp
Initially, it wasn't uploading my picture, now my post is gone. It may be here twice, who knows. Anyways, if I had it to do again we would have ate somewhere else. The staff is great. Friendly and attentive. Seating areas are cramped, which is customary. But the food was lack luster and expensive. Quite frankly, the Melting Pot offers a better and more personalized experience.
google avatar

Shari S.

Yelp
Very friendly waitstaff and lots of interesting raclette choices. We just wanted to try something as an afternoon snack and the "Heidi" (see pic) was perfect. There is seating inside and out. Very clean bathrooms. Free drinking water which seems to be a rarity in Switzerland!

Yelp
Me and friend wanted to have fondue but didn't want to deal with the massive positions most restaurants serve, so we found this place and I'm so so happy we did. The location was easy to find and the restaurant is so charming and quaint. The menu is perfect you can build your own plate or pick from their recommendations options, the plates are perfect per person and are absolutely delicious. The service was quick and they were so kind and helpful. I had the chili and truffle with mashed potato bread and an egg and we share the sausage. I recommend if you want to have fondue but don't want a huge pot of the same cheese!

Yelp
This was my favorite restaurant and meal in Zurich! Caters to tourists more than locals I imagine but I enjoyed the friendly staff and excellent service. They accept reservations for parties of two or more. As a solo traveler I was unable to make a reservation but had so issue getting a table at 6:30pm. However, do note by about 7 they were very busy! Book ahead if you can but if not, no worries! They guarantee a table within 15 minutes sans reservations. Anyhow, the raclette was so yummy! They had a variety of options but I kept simple with the Heidi plate and a glass of Swiss white wine. The plates felt large and fairly priced. I even indulged in the lava cake dessert which was amazing! You can't refuse Swiss chocolate! If you're visiting Zurich, I recommend a meal here! The menu offers many options beyond raclette and is suitable for everyone. In addition the restaurant feels cozy and inviting.

Scott F.

Yelp
The food was good and filling. The Raclette, we discovered, was actually melted cheese that was unique to Swiss cuisine. Never tried it before and I enjoyed it for at least the first half of the meal. After that it tended a bit bland. The sausages with the meal were a bit of a low point as they were *also* bland (especially) and fairly tasteless. That Patty not recommended. The service tended to be fairly prompt in the taking of the order, and the implementation took a fairly long time but I can't tell where we were in the order queue for the kitchen and it was about lunchtime. The ambience is actually quite nice, and somewhat rustic with exceptionally large napkins that I wish I had saved a few of. Kind of red table checkerboard type. Nice!

Yelp
We chanced upon this place on our first night in Zurich walking around the old town. Little did I know, this was in my research of places to try and so glad we did! The food was awesomely delissssh! The cheese was sooooo yummy. The servers were really nice and accommodating. The place was cute and the restroom was well kept.

Yelp
Food 4.0/5.0 Service 3.0/5.0 Value 3.0/5.0 Decor 3.0/5.0 Overall 4.0/5.0 Good raclette, tables are not huge. Would go back.

Yelp
We walked in without reservations and the place was empty maybe for 1 person having a beer. We tried their food and it was tasty... pricey. Service was a bit slow.
google avatar

Reagan A.

Yelp
We stopped in because we just had to have raclette while in Zurich. This place was very cute and we were seated right away. Luckily we got a seat by the window, but even still it was rather hot inside. We ordered the mashed potatoes as well as the whole mini potatoes and shared. Both were amazing, but if I had to choose one, I'd recommend the mashed potatoes
google avatar

Alma P.

Yelp
Had really high hopes for RF but was a tad bit disappointed. The variety of options was great but the food was rather mediocre. I've had raclette before and it was so bland here. Luckily, the staff was nice and the drinks were tasty so that made up for it. Be prepare to wait as apparently there's always a line - although TBH not quite sure why when the food was just average at best.
google avatar

Ira W.

Yelp
Tonight we thought we'd try Raclette. And we were not disappointed. Unlike fondue which you have to prepare yourself, our plates came prepared. I had the Klara which is a combination of the Heidi and Peter. The Heidi comes with potatoes, the Peter comes with bread. My wife had the Heidi. She had hers with bacon whereas I added sausage. Both were excellent. The service was superb. Our service took time to explain everything to us and checked back to see how we were doing. The place is small like most restaurants here in Zurich. The music could have been lower as it was wall to wall people so there was enough noise. The prices were extremely reasonable. I'd come back tomorrow if I wasn't leaving for Venice.
google avatar

Jamie G.

Yelp
I read about Raclette and when I saw Raclette Factory, I knew I had to stop. The polite waitress explained the menu and let me and I decided on the deluxe with truffle and a local beer. The beer was excellent, but I do not remember what it was. The Raclette was very good. I think it would be amazing on frites! I added sausages and they were ok. Nothing special. Overall it was a great experience and should I end up in Zurich again, I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Doug C.

Yelp
OK, this was a very touristy thing to do for lunch. That's OK, it tasted real good. Our tour guide recommended it and why not go. Swiss cheese is very different taste than what we have eaten in USA. All good. Great timing on our part as small place and available seating for two. WC is one holer for both sexes so you might have to wait to get in. We got the usual meal. Meal filled us up so we skipped supper and just bought a few things a local grocery store and ate in room.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
It's a small place inside, a bit stuffy. Our young server was outstanding at serving us. We ordered a couple of Raclette plates. One regular cheese and one with plain and white wine cheese. We had bread with one that was far too airy and plain. The potatoes that come with it were okay. The cheese was good but nothing special. The premium prices here just aren't worth it.
google avatar

Angela R.

Yelp
The moment you step in the space, you're hit with the undeniable aroma of roasting cheese. We reserved a table for lunch and it was ready when we arrived. I started with a Swiss cider, which was among the best ciders I've had - very crisp and refreshing, the perfect sweetness. There's a handful of different raclette options. I think we went for one chili cheese and a klara, which came with mashed potatoes. The place was busy so there was a tiny wait for our food (about average, but I was anticipating the deliciousness!) Everything was amazing, and perfectly filling. Service was impeccable - the single waitress and hostess took care of the bustling room with ease and made sure every guest was taken care of. Watching the staff, you can tell the teamwork is fine tuned and that's nice to see. Dining in Switzerland is pricey but for the area, and for food this satisfying, a great option.

Yelp
Met a wonderfully cheery and adorable waitress named Sophie here, and she made a world's difference on my Christmas Eve as I solo traveled across the world over the holidays. In a country where German is the dominant language, it was so nice to find a fellow English-native to speak with as I tried their raclette. Sophie recommended creating my own custom raclette with the truffle and smoked cheeses and their famous garlic bread, which is exactly what I did. It was very fresh and the cheese was so stringy and gooey upon serving. If only I hadn't been recovering from food poisoning, I probably would have enjoyed the raclette itself more, but it was too heavy for me that evening. Regardless, I wanted to give a shout out to Sophie here, I hope to come back to Zurich and try raclette properly on a healthy stomach next time around!
google avatar

Victor L.

Yelp
Very pleasant experience for our group of 6. Great atmosphere and our server was amazing. Took his time to explain the menu and suggest favorites. Great job, keep it up. Cheers!
google avatar

Samantha C.

Yelp
Overall thoughts: Friendly service, quick, and delicious inexpensive way to try Raclette. The restaurant itself is pretty small. There are about 10 small tables inside the restaurant and a handful of outdoor seating. It was not busy during the week, so if you can, come here for lunch during the week! I ordered the Alpohi, which consisted of plain Raclette cheese, mashed potatoes, and pickled onions & pickles. It was my first time trying raclette cheese so I was not sure what to expect! It was a very mild tasting cheese, and tasted delicious with the homemade mashed potatoes!
google avatar

Yelp
Found this place while looking for raclette in Zurich. Lucked into an inside table on a steamy evening in July. Our server had all the deets on the menu and helped us pick. Think I got a combo of the white wine and goat cheese raclette on potatoes with bacon. Just delicious! We had Hugo drinks to go with our meal (a fave from a previous trip to Italy) and had a great time. Raclette isn't necessarily a summer thing, but we loved it. An all Taylor Swift soundtrack was playing that night which made it extra festive for us as well.

Yelp
Was walking around the old town of Zurich and decided we wanted to continue our Zurich foodie tour and saw that Raclette was nearby so knew we had to give it a shot. We made our way over for an early-ish lunch and stepped into a cozy and non busy joint. This place definitely picked up foot traffic quickly so food for thought for folks. Also noticed that lots of families were entering here and they had one high chair for those folks on yelp searching for a family situation in case this is critical. Now the first thing.... The service was a bit meh and actually a bit unfriendly? Not sure if it was just the tone but I let it slide as we are here for the food. The menu consists of a few options for Raclette which is (in crude terms) melted cheese on a plate. They also have pizzas and appetizers but the focus is raclette. The portions are filling without you making feel a bit "heavy" from just eating cheese and loved the different options you could choose. The plate comes out with pickles, potatoes and bread. The cheese was good quality and tasted great. The Pizza with crème fraiche and onions was good as well and nice and crispy. The Beers were nice and cold as well. All in all, a great place. Enjoyed the food, the affordability of said food, and the ambiance. Think the service was an off day but would recommend for those looking to try raclette out.

S F.

Yelp
From the moment we walked in the door, you could tell this was the place we're all the locals went to. The food, service, and staff friendly attitude was great. Highly recommended

Mike K.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Everything you would want from a Swiss vacation restaurant. Local food, great/fast service and atmosphere. We were immediately greeted and placed at a table, even though they were super popular/busy. The pictures show hot, plus delicious local "Willi" food and cold Zürcher Hürlimann Lagers.
google avatar

Jerry O.

Yelp
If you like cheese, this is the place to come. Raclette cheese is a Swill favorite. In the alps, they melt the cheese and serve it with onions and pickles. Here there are various variations of that theme but they basically pour the cheese all over the items that you request. Or you can order a standard Raclette and decided whether you want eggs with it or mashed potatoes, etc. I think the way it is served in the Alps is better from what I've heard. The meal was good but very heavy. It's a small place with outdoor seating so the ambiance changes whether you are inside or outside. Typically Europeans like eating outdoors so the ambiance takes on the vibe of the street at the time.
google avatar

Phil T.

Yelp
There are two kinds of cheese: fancy cheese you taste while sipping wine and the kind of cheese you melt over potatoes and when you taste it you see the face of God. This is the latter. If you refuse to stop in Raclette Factory and have equal parts potato and melted cheese while drinking a frosty lager then we definitely could never be friends.
google avatar

Donovan B.

Yelp
While not revolutionary, this place puts cheese over carbs like something out of a lactose intolerant kids nightmares. If you're into that, you'll love it but if that concept doesn't excite you, don't expect a visit to change your mind. Staff are friendly and quick, the place itself is small so expect a short wait. Is it worth a visit? Do you have a fetish of watching baking pans full of melty cheese dumped over innocent vegetables? I think we all need to find the answer within ourselves.
google avatar

Emi B.

Yelp
Clearly a touristy spot but we are tourists here so why not! We tried the tomato and smoked flavor, both are good. But our Raclette was served too late after it's plated I believe. Cheese was pretty solid already, so as a raclette restaurant, not okay.
google avatar

Tiffany W.

Yelp
Was excited to try raclette while visiting Switzerland. Got the white wine raclette with garlic bread. The raclette was surprisingly light yet filling. They have a special seasoning on the table for you to add to the dish which was interestingly good. The service was great and the atmosphere is pretty casual
google avatar

Al P.

Yelp
Hmm certainly a unique experience. We wanted to try a raclette while visiting the country, but they definitely try to get your money. They ask that each person in the group get their own entree or item, which at about $17-22 Francs which is a little pricey. I just didn't like they made you order your own entree because you're basically getting a place full of cheese - there isn't much else in the plate. They also say you get a side of pickled onion and pickle but it's just 2 small pieces of each. Look, I don't regret trying this once - but I think that's about it. If someone were visiting I'd only recommend this if they want a plate full of cheese. Ambiance is analogous to a sports bar in the US. Their flatbread item on their menu is lackluster, don't recommend ordering that.
google avatar

Jennifer O.

Yelp
A friend and I stopped in here for lunch one day and had a good experience. We shared one of their interesting salads in a jar.... And we got one of the cheese plates, which was good if a little pricey for what we got. This restaurant was worth trying.
google avatar

Adam B.

Yelp
Raclette is literally just melted cheese on a plate, so there is no need to overpay at a fancy place. Two portions of raclette with potatoes and meat is quite enough to fill you up without making you feel disgustingly full. Lots of flavor options to from traditional to a bit wild. Garlic Raclette & Pepper Raclette with Ham & Potatoes: This was just the dinner I needed. A bunch of tasty melted cheese poured over small boiled potatoes. I chose the garlic and pepper flavors since I wanted something a little different, though didn't want to stray too far from the original. Added just enough variation to my meal. The ham was not like thick ham you might find on a breakfast platter, it was more like matchstick sized slices of a prosciutto-like ham. Lots of it too, since it can cover the whole plate if spread evenly.

Roy and Rebecca H.

Yelp
Excellent wait staff and very kind to us with our limited German. Really cozy inside too! The food was good but I will say it was pretty pricey.... But alas I know this is the Swiss way. A fun experience nonetheless the less!
google avatar

Phoebe A.

Yelp
An excellent spot for visitors like myself to try one of the staples in Swiss food culture! My friend and I got the white wine raclette with some garlic bread, which was really good. The raclette was surprisingly light yet filling. Also just generally enjoyed the atmosphere, and staff were so friendly.
google avatar

Brad M.

Yelp
All-you-can-eat cheese, grilled in the back and oozed onto a plate, served with various accoutrements (mostly steamed potatoes). The cheese was good, but dessert was a killer. We were seated next to a local elderly couple from Zurich that eats here monthly. As they were leaving, the lady leaned over and said we had to try the meringues in double cream for dessert. We took her advice despite it not sounding all that great to us, and by God she was SO correct. The meringues were crispy and light, and the double cream was thick and decadent - such a perfect accompaniment to the dish. Best thing we ate in Switzerland.
google avatar

Amazia K.

Yelp
I went here for dinner with a group of 3. We got sat in the perfect table in 10 minutes The staff was very attentive and nice. Our server was quite fluent In different languages and he was blonde (don't remember his name) The food was good and we got the 3 course taster, however we weren't explained the menu and thought we ordered the all you can eat that they advertised all over. It was a pretty confusing experience and we left pretty hungry. The little food we did have was delicious tho
google avatar

Marc A.

Yelp
Interesting place. Let's start with the good stuff. The staff is fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable. They realize most people, especially visitors, are not familiar with Raclette. They are more than willing to help and walk you through the menu and some suggestions. The food is good. Not a huge portion but reflecting back, probably a perfect size, especially for me for lunch. Too used to American super sized portions that when it came out, I was thinking I did not order enough. I was wrong. Perfectly satiated. The sign outside says we have beer colder than your ex's heart Well, not sure about that as the beer was not cold or especially cold. Please know, this is not a complaint as I don't enjoy frozen cold beer. It's just an observation for those who do like it that way. The place is small but they manage the space nicely. I was glad I tried it versus a sandwich or something more ordinary for lunch and you should too. Just know it wasn't life changing in any way. I can come back to Zurich and be happy elsewhere.

Mandar D.

Yelp
Superb food. Went by this place during our overnight halt at Zurich. Cozy atmosphere. Staff very helpful in ordering and quick service. Also had the warm mulled wine as a beverage. Will go again during our next trip.

Rodney R.

Yelp
Food and service really good. Small place I recommend making a reservation a day ahead if possible. Leave your American Express card on your wallet because they DON'T TAKE AMEX. VISA AND MASTER CARD OK. They should state that on the door or on the menu. I didn't see it posted anywhere. Thanks.

Yelp
An absolute delight! Just ate here this evening after reading the great reviews. Loved the raclettes we each ordered and the chocolate cake (surprise, it really is a lava cake!!) with berry-topped sour cream ice cream! Our waitress was sweet and prompt and I loved that the kitchen was so easy to see and interact with. The chef even personally asked me if I was enjoying my cheese!
google avatar

Jonathan H.

Yelp
Classic raclette, it was amazing, love the mix of cheese and the other items. You can choose a few options but the gherkins are my favorite!
google avatar

Ryan C.

Yelp
My wife and I walked into this place having no idea what a raclette was. We came just off the recommendation of someone from these reviews. Needing a good, gluten free option (which is just a traditional raclette with potatoes instead of bread), we gave this a shot. And I'm sold. The food was incredible. The staff was amazing, and super fun to engage with. The only problem is now I have to figure out how to bring one of these places to Phoenix.

Joe P.

Yelp
My life has forever been changed discovering Raclette cheese at the Raclette factory in Zurich. Back in the states and already found it and made a meal.

Ham M.

Yelp
If you like cheese and want something to eat in the middle of town - this is the place to go. Wasn't my cup of tea even though I really wanted to like it
google avatar

Wendi K.

Yelp
If you are a tourist and want a fun place to try out Raclette here is a fun place to go! Expensive, but everything in Switzerland is. They make the raclette right in front of you, and the cheese/ingredients are clearly high quality. Tartine was tasty as well! Obviously delicious - I mean how can you go wrong with melted cheese and potatoes and bread? It's small and casual and brightly lit and it's got fun decorations as well.
