Traverse City’s Best Restaurants, Bars, and Cafes | Eater Detroit

"Those who prefer to spend a northern Michigan vacation never leaving the cottage should not miss stopping at Raduno for some ready-made meals before settling in. This deli-style cafe features a rotating selection of salads, vegetable sides, and daily specials, but the homemade pastas are especially impressive. Owner Janene Silverman, who lived in Piedmont for 20 years, uses organic flour, semolina, and eggs to make fresh noodles — which will seriously up any pasta salad game." - Stacey Brugeman

We were traveling through Traverse City and wanted to try something local. Unfortunately the pasta dishes we got wasn't seasoned at all. We tipped when we paid for our food at the counter but was told we had to get our own water and clean and wipe our table when we were done eating. I will say we got fries to share and those were pretty good.

Google
Stopped in here to carbo load before the Bayshore race. The first thing we noticed was how fresh everything was - pasta made in-house. I liked the open kitchen and being able to see my food made fresh! It was absolutely delicious. We had the ravioli and sweet potato soup.

Google
Best Cuban sandwich in town! Everything they make is good especially the pasta. I always stick with the sandwiches. The falafel is amazing.

If you’re looking for a unique, tantalizing gastronomic experience that will leave you speechless, then by all means—run, don’t walk—to Raduno! I’ve been lucky enough to eat there many, many times, and I didn’t think it was humanly possible, but the food just keeps getting better and better. Dreaming of sandwiches? You haven’t really had a sandwich until you’ve eaten here. Seriously, they’re that good! I’ve tried a slew of them, but the Muffuletta is knock-your-socks-off amazing. Want something for the record books? Ask if they can make their take on a Bánh Mì. 🤫 It will forever change your perspective on what a sandwich living its best life can be. Rather skip the bread? Order the Butcher’s Lunch instead! It’s like a deconstructed Bánh Mì 😍 I’ve had their savory tart before too and me, oh my—bellissimo! Craving pasta? Good lord, their scratch-made lasagna, gnocchi, and—well, everything—is out of this world. I guess what I’m really trying to say is that every. single. item. is packed full of love and flavor. You can literally taste the fresh love poured into each and every dish. I promise you won’t be disappointed—I don’t say that lightly!

Cozy, bright place with a relaxed atmosphere. The food is great. Reasonably priced and quick service. I could easily spend an afternoon here. The pasta and bread is all homemade and they grow a lot of their own ingredients. Will be returning!

Google
Came back to one of our favorite places and need to re-post. This time Cuban and Falafel. EXCELLENT. Yep you pay and tip at time of order but NEVER in all our visits were we told we have to clean our tables. It is a laid back WELCOMING atmosphere If you've never taken a chance on a place to eat, place your bet on this place. Psst, if you don't see the owner - ask!, I bet she's making more great food, or I've caught her wiping a shelf or assisting a co-worker but shout out a "hi", sometimes that the bonus pay. Keeping my prior post too.... This place NEVER disappoints. Wife had Creste and I had chicken Marsala. Amazing flavors and served by the owner, she is always welcoming and informative of her dishes. A definite favorite in Traverse City and HIGHLY recommend you try for yourself! !

Google
Every sandwich and pasta I've had from Raduno has been amazing! Their fries are my favorite fries in TC-if you aren't dining alone, split the fries it is a whole order and way too many for one person! The sandwiches are almost always too much for me to finish in one sitting. They seem expensive at 1st glance but the portions are such a good value for the size and quality of ingredients used. Chocolate torte is the best one I've ever had (one of my favorite desserts I've had in many restaurants over the years)! Their cookies are always unique and delicious. Raduno could only be better if they had full service coffee available, but there are several excellent coffee shops withing walking distance. Raduno is a bit of a hidden gem-a short walk from the main drag of downtown but you might miss it if you're driving by in a hurry! Consistently good food and kind service.

Google
Got the gnocchi, cannelloni, and falafel sandwich - everything was amazing! Will come back next time we're in Traverse City. Only disappointment is they close early.

Yelp
I've lived in TC for absolutely ages and had never made it to Raduno, but let me tell you - it is incredible and I will definitely be returning! They had a wonderful variety of real, wholesome food - acorn squash, couscous, and plenty more butternut squash in various salads. Truly top-notch food for just $15 - what a bargain! I've seen some comments saying it's too expensive, but let's be honest, everything costs more these days. Fast food can easily set you back $10-$15 per person for a 1000 calories of stuff you really shouldn't be eating and is not good for the temple. As for me, I'll be back again and again for more of Raduno's delicious, nutritious salads. A massive thank you for offering such proper, nourishing food! Also, they invited me to stay and eat in their spacious dining area, but I did the carry out option because I needed to get back to work. Full Disclosure: I really like squash.

Yelp
I live this little deli! Amazing food and espresso. I stick to the hot sandwiches, my favorite being the Cuban

Yelp
Relaxed, local cafe with deli salads and sandwiches. Everything was super fresh. They had a high chair for our son which was very helpful. There were a bunch of local flyers and posters by the front door which made it feel like home. Very casual and great spot when heading in or out of town.
google avatar

Mike D.

Yelp
Stopped at Raduno for lunch after some long travel. I ordered the muffuletta and it didn't disappoint! Fresh bread, tasty cuts of meat and cheese, and (of course) a lovely olive spread. The staff was very friendly, the ambiance casual and relaxed. Will certainly return for a tasty lunch soon!
google avatar

L R.

Yelp
Really good food and very friendly service.... definitely a 4 if it were a little more affordable.... 2 sandwichs and one side of couscous was $35 for lunch.... Very good quality
google avatar

Jen K.

Yelp
Amazing fresh bread with my muffaletta...tasty and fresh. Quaint seating and friendly staff as you can expect at a deli style restaurant.

Megan G.

Yelp
Great food and great service! Tastes like it's made with love. Good prices for the quality of the food. The gentleman who served us today (didn't get his name) but had a beard had the best energy, recommendations, and the cherry on top of the visit was hearing his talented singing voice as he prepped some food. Will absolutely be back.

Yelp
This a local deli type restaurant in an area of TC that is going through some gentrification. It's about 1-2 miles from TVC airport, so stop in and get food for the plane!! The menu is small but the sandwiches as big! Somewhere between a panini and a quesadilla, the sandwich ingredients are rolled in a piece of grilled lavash type bread. They also offer a few pasta dishes and some deli salad items. Order at the counter and they bring the food to you on the porch or inside at a table. The falafel sandwich was perfect. They were definitely homemade patties, had plenty of flavor and weren't greasy at all from the cooking process. All I needed was half for lunch, second half will be for dinner with some salad! French fries were made to order, golden brown instead of yellow and perfectly crispy on the outside with soft potato on the inside.

Marcia S.

Yelp
Food and service was excellent. A nice hidden gem in Traverse city. Made from scratch food to eat there or take to go. Somewhat of a cafeteria setting but still nice. Flavors of the food made up for that
google avatar

Amy Z.

Yelp
Early lunch. We (husband, 4 year old, and myself) had the Butcher's Lunch, Cuban, and Buttered Rigatoni. Everything was delicious!

Wayne Y.

Yelp
Mediocre food. Hours of operation are to short! No real dinner service. Non existent ambiance.
google avatar

Joanne T.

Yelp
This is a decent place if you are looking for sandwich or pasta. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The restaurant is clean and quiet. The food was average and could use a little more flavor. The Cuban wasn't the most memorable dish. The rigatoni felt like it was missing something, but I did enjoy the house made pasta. I do love the charming atmosphere and will come back and give the food another try.

Speech P.

Yelp
Fantastic . A low key eatery with vegetarian options. Had a wonderful bean soup and a savory turkey tart with a delicious crust.
google avatar

Karrie B.

Yelp
Delicious sandwiches, salads and pastas! We enjoyed packing Raduno in our Picnic Basket and hiking the dunes.

Heidi S.

Yelp
We got the Cuban, bahn mi, brisket chimichurri, Margarita pizza, and 3 salad combo. Everything was delish!! Who knew country pate was so good.
google avatar

Vickas P.

Yelp
I come here for the chicken liver mousse. All the time. I told them it reminded me of the stuff that I used to buy back in Chicago and the woman told me that the person who makes it there now used to make it at the place where I bought it in Chicago. The chalet. Small world but a great taste of home
google avatar

Grace T.

Yelp
Lovely little deli and highly recommend! We ordered chicken piccata, white bean soup, charred cabbage salad, spaghetti, pistachio short bread, and all the dishes were so delicious (plenty of flavors yet not overwhelming). IMHO their dishes beat some of those highly priced restaurants in the area. If you're looking for a casual atmosphere, high quality meals, friendly staff, Raduno is the place to go.
google avatar

Misti L.

Yelp
This should have been great! Unique spot and menu online looked swell. When we arrived, the "efficient energy" of the cashier/manager was off putting. We had never been there before. I ordered the brisket sandwich as listed. Hubs ordered the Turkey Sammie with some modifications; no aioli or cheese and add lettuce and tomato. She felt it necessary to state "so you don't want our turkey sandwich but something of your own"? What? I ordered a water thinking it would be easiest. Oh boy! They only carry a flat water in a glass bottle. She tried to offer tap water but was snarky again in her delivery. Too bad really. Food was just ok with the ciabatta bun being the star of the show. We won't come back.
google avatar

Andrew S.

Yelp
Everything tasted homemade and fresh. The atmosphere was relaxing and comfortable. We especially loved the ciabatta bread the sandwiches came on.

Amy P.

Yelp
We just had a delightful birthday dinner for about 35 people in Raduno (after hours). The food was delicious, abundant and beautifully presented. Our guests raved about the food (especially the panzenella and pasta). The service was perfectly timed and gracious. They even cut and served our birthday cake. This is the third event we have had catered (2 rehearsal dinners) and I recommend it highly. Such a gem.

Lily K.

Yelp
Legitimately....the BEST PIZZA IVE EVER HAD. I know where I'll be the first Saturday of every month! Thanks Raduno!!
google avatar

Jacki W.

Yelp
My partner and I hired Raduno to cater our wedding in Traverse City and we are so glad we did! Janene her team blew us away with the food they prepared for our 120 guests. They went above and beyond to accommodate dietary needs and the food was just so so fresh, colorful and delicious. Friends and family were all raving! We lucked out with Raduno and are so so grateful!

Yelp
It's not often that I go to one restaurant and end up eating their food for two consecutive meals, but I suppose that is the genius of combining a homemade pasta / sauce shop with an eat-in deli. For lunch I had a butcher's platter of sausage, pate, slaw, kraut, and bread, which was very good -- in a large portion with a range of different tasty meat products. (I tasted my wife's turkey sandwich with apple kimchi as well, which was equally good and also more balanced and less overwhelming). For dinner I bought a bunch of their homemade gemelli and a container of lamb ragu. These were so tasty that they required minimal fussing, seasoning, or effort on my part -- perfect for the first night in a vacation house. (The sandwiches were so good we also grabbed one of their baguettes, made in-house by the pasta maker.) If you're staying in the area and you aren't coming here at least once, I don't know what you're doing instead.

Yelp
Of course there's a restaurant/deli in any city that fabs out their own cow and serves up amazing plates! Started with house made Braunschweiger...perfectly seasoned, just enough texture, generous portion...served with cornichons, grainy mustard, baguette. Caesar himself would have over whemingly approved of our selecting the scratch Gorgonzola dressing for our crisp, fresh romain salad Amazing ribeye night, steak du jour, with pomme fritte, aioli, shitakki mushrooms. Every bite was exceptional...a home run! Thank you for your talents! Oh, the wines are fab, it's BYOB! How good can it get!
google avatar

Shreddie M.

Yelp
The Cuban tastes... a little more German delectable and succulent sandwiches with an amazing homemade tasting bun. I could totally be wrong on if they are homemade or not but they are to die for.
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Fantastic pasta, salads and desserts. Easy and inexpensive enough for a quick lunch, classy and quality enough for a special dinner. Love the attention to quality ingredients and superb preparation. Also love the vibe of the place. Can't wait to come back!!
google avatar

Jenna N.

Yelp
Came here for the first time today with boyfriend. I got the vegetable soup and the turkey sandwich. Both were very good! I had to add a bunch of salt to the soup but otherwise it was super good. My boyfriend got the fettuccine and the savory tart. He said they were both delicious! Cute little spot, super laid back and relaxed inside. If you're traveling the TC area, definitely stop in for something good!
google avatar

Yelp
I have never been here, and thought I would support a local business with a lunch purchase. I was treated so rudely by the woman taking my order that I said thank you and left the building . I have never been treated this way in Traverse City it's a true shame since this is my home town . I was taken back by the $12 minimum price for a sandwich and still thought well I will try anyway, so I asked what's the most popular item? She looked at me like I was a total Karen and replied i don't know with an eye roll. I thought to myself wow is it something I'm wearing ? Do I look too conservative for her ? I tried again questioning another sandwich and if it was similar to an Italian sub ? She said not really. Period end of conversation. I will never spend money there , or send anyone there in the future. Places like these should not be a part of a friendly towns business culture.

Yelp
Stumbled upon this place while in town for business. I had limited time, and it looked nice from the outside, so I decided to give it a try. I was super pleased that I did as the food is top notch. I ordered a Cuban and it was great. From the looks of it, everything was was pretty much from scratch, including the cured meats and bread. The sandwich was smaller than I would have liked, but it was still plenty filling. It has a very chill atmosphere, that allows patrons to graze and chat. The prices were on the higher end, but it tends to make sense based on the quality. In sum, it was a happy accident finding this place. If I am in the area, I will definitely come back.
google avatar

Marin C.

Yelp
I got a couscous salad from them for to-go the other day. I love couscous but it's a pain for me to cook it cause dishes. Theirs featured pieces of asparagus, chunks of parmesan, and some lemon and olive oil vibes. It was absolutely delicious. I had a banana bread chocolate chip cookie too, I love banana bread esp. with chocolate chips. So, having one of my favorite things in cookie form was great bribery for myself to go to work. A little pricey, but I definitely felt that the ingredients were of high quality.
google avatar

john p.

Yelp
It was so so on first impression. The price and fat that came with it was the worst part. The vibe/atmosphere was clean and quiet. For $38 bucks at lunchtime, I felt like I got robbed. My wife and I got 2 sandwiches, a side, a cookie and 2 drinks. The sandwich I had was the Pastrami Reuben which was okay. The Pastrami was 85% fat and there was hardly any meat. The cookie tasted good, but was a little too hard/overdone. The curry couscous was a tad spicy, but if you like spice it was fair. My wife had their brisket which i had a bite of, and I thought it tasted good. With only a bite, I would choose the Brisket over the pastrami easily (due to all the fat I was given, and for $13 I don't like buying fat). To be honest I wanted to say something, but hey, it was my first time there so I gave them a break. However, unless the price changes or I hear some better things from friends around town, I won't return any time soon. I hope this place can offer better food for a cheaper price or else they won't make it. 2 stars from a 31 year Traverse City native with over 50 local restaurant reviews. I consider myself a foodie and frequent restaurants in TC often.

Yelp
A HUGE THANK YOU to Janene and Megan at Raduno! Janene was such a great help getting my brother's wedding brunch together this past weekend. Our menu consisted of:delicious quiches;cheese blintzes;and salmon loch bagels.Janene sent Megan to help us serve everything, and she was also such a big help! We had a full set of white plates napkins dinnerware etc along with champagne flutes and wine glasses.... Janene also let us use an extra platter of hers for a fruit tray and some small glass containers we used to put flowers in on the tables for the guests. The day of the brunch everything arrived exactly in order on time and we had lots of compliments! Megan set everything up for us and cleaned up everything as well.Janene made the whole process effortless these past few months working with her from out of state, and brought everything together beautifully as she said she would. I would highly recommend working with Janene and her staff,as they are professionnel and very organized! Our families wish to thank Raduno for all their personal touches they made into making Aleksander and Theresa's Wedding Brunch in Cedar,Michigan one not to forget!

Yelp
Fabulous tavola calda style Italian restaurant. Closest you will find in northern Michigan to the tastes of Italy. Homemade pasta cooked when you order, excellent sauces and sides. Simple presentation, very affordable. (photo of my grandpa Celestino who would have loved Radunno)
google avatar

Kelsey C.

Yelp
The spaghetti special is so good! I love that you can buy wine next store and bring it over to have with your meal. The people working were very friendly!
google avatar

Sandra C.

Yelp
Fabulous! Three salad sampler: beet with fresh dill, cauliflower with almond, kale with chunks of orange. OMG, so amazing! Open space, good jazzy music. Buy your wine from the wine shop next door and carry in. Nice friendly people who obviously love food.
google avatar

Jennifer F.

Yelp
This is our go-to restaurant whenever we're in the area. You can't go wrong with any of the pastas, and everything tastes really fresh. Love the comfortable, simple atmosphere, the decent prices, and the fact that it's never super crowded. If burrata is on their menu (which changes often), get it! The only dessert we've gotten is the cheesecake, which is good but not mind-blowing. Service is friendly, and the interior is clean.
google avatar

Colleen V.

Yelp
Delicious. I'm obsessed with the salad platter where you can choose three different salads for $9. I haven't been disappointed with anything I've tried on the menu and, since the options change with some frequency, there's usually something new to try. I'd also highly recommend trying the take home pasta option where you cook it up yourself. Really...you can't go wrong.

Jennifer S.

Yelp
Hats off to the sandwich artisans. I did a happy food dance through my entire lunch. My Fiancé ordered the Muffuletta and I had the pastrami Reuben with Gruyere along with sharing each other's sandwiches we shared the trio salad. I don't believe you could go wrong with ordering anything they have to offer. Hands down one of my favorites.
google avatar

Teresa N.

Yelp
We had the most delicious turkey sandwiches on home baked ciabatta bread at this sweet restaurant. There are many choices in TC with good food but this is a REAL STANDOUT! I was able to request substations to work around my food allergy and amazingly the staff all knew the ingredients because almost everything is made on site!!! The construction traffic on 8th may be difficult bet their large parking lot is open and it's easy to maneuver the back streets! I'll be back for that family dinner for sure! So glad I found you!!! Would give you 5 stars but there wasn't any sugar out and you don't have a non-diary milk for your EXCEPTIONAL COFFEE!
google avatar

Pablo T.

Yelp
Exceptional food here. If you want something unique, filling and not terrible on prices - this is it. Def in my top 3 restaurants/gems in traverse city.

Michael K.

Yelp
Delicious hidden gem, farm to table spot. Thought and care put into every dish with everything hand made on site. We had the vegetable trio, turkey sandwich, banh mi and two desserts. The service was excellent and we will certainly be back!
google avatar

Marcia C.

Yelp
One of my favorite places in town. Everything I've tried is excellent and homemade. These ladies are the real deal. My favorites are the falafel sandwich and the rigatoni with bolognese. They also have a great "salad trio" - choice of three salads for only $10. And you'll have leftovers!

Nadi T.

Yelp
Raduno is an establishment I know will succeed, Excell, and thrive. It has the groundwork in place with great staff, top of the line equipment and kitchen, beautiful selection of food, attention to small detail (like the amazing water cups and nice table flowers). Why the 3 you may ask. Great question. The Lamb rigatoni was such a let down. It lacked so much: no substance, no flavor profile, no wow factor. The pasta was decent but nothing that blew me away or made me gasp at it's perfect texture or the subtle resistance when I chew. The meal simply didn't have character...just felt warm. The turkey sandwich with some slaw i actually thoroughly enjoyed and would get again without hesitation, but this a place that wants its pastas and food to be appreciated not a sandwich. I will be back and I will give them another fair opportunity!

Anne N.

Yelp
Just finished eating at Raduno. I got the lamb sausage rigatoni. It was amazing and my new favorite pasta in town. The pasta noodles are made fresh daily, and you can really tell the difference. My boyfriend got the Bahn Mi and it was also the best one that we have found yet in TC. We finished our meal off with a raspberry almond tart. Not too sweet, which was perfect for a summer day. The women behind the counter were super helpful with explaining the items and the deli case. Plus, the owners brought us our meal and are really nice people. Definitely don't pass this one by.
google avatar

Steve B.

Yelp
Fresh pastas and sauces to take home. Sandwiches for lunch. Banmih with chicken liver mousse and country pate' was fantastico!
google avatar

Kaylee M.

Yelp
The food is all hand made. It's really really tasty. One of my favorites!! They had really good sauce for the spaghetti. With a little bit of spice. They have a drink machine with good drinks. They have some sodas but they are mostly about wellness and being healthy. They have some of their products on sale at the restaurant. And some little souvenirs for you.... 10/10
google avatar

Pamela S.

Yelp
The menu looked intriguing, but I was blown away by the authenticity of the meals. I have lived in Italian neighborhoods and rarely find true to form foods up north. I ordered the aroncini and it was the best I've ever had, Thick but crispy crust, the rice was creamy like risotto and the mozzarella was rich, stringy and smooth. I took home a kind of lasagne, I can't remember the name, but instead of red sauce, it had a béchamel. OMG. It was amazing. It wasn't much to look at, kind of grey all over, but when I baked it, the flavors blossomed. Every part of it was divine. Addicting. Great value for the price, which is very reasonable. High end flavor for mid-level prices.

Yelp
So many delicious options it was hard to pick! Got the 3 salad combo with beets, spicy roasted carrots, and grilled veggies; homemade pasta with homemade pesto; and amazing lamb meatballs. All the food is fresh, local, and house made. Spent about $20 for the pasta/salad/meatballs and it came with grilled bread and was enough for a generous dinner for 2. Going back today for my second time in a week. Picking up food for a group and I'm excited to try more options! Perfect for a picnic or when you want quality food but don't have time for a full restaurant meal. Nice job, Raduno!

Melanie S.

Yelp
Raduno just catered a luncheon for a family reunion. We served over 50 people and received nothing but rave reviews about the food! We had all ages - adults and kids - there was something for everyone. The crepe cannelloni (both meat and vegetarian) were served warm and disappeared immediately! Ingredients in the four different kinds of salads took full advantage of local harvest. The beet salad was especially popular! House made ciabatta was warm when we picked it up and stayed fresh. Finally, a desert tray with enough variety to please everyone's sweet tooth! I highly recommend Raduno for your next party!
