First visit on Sunday evening to mark 35th anniversary along with friend. Started with drinks at bar. Key lime martinis & sangria were great, but expresso martini poor as no expresso and too sweet. Otherwise, bartender service was great. Seated in dining room, server delivered sour dough rolls and drinks promptly. Included salad was served on chilled pewter plates, which was nice touch. Entrees included surf&turf, jerk chicken, and Mahi Mahi. Needed to send fish back as over done, even replacement not much better. Server was very slow with later drinks, and forgot request for more sauce for chicken. We eventually dealt with manager to discuss service issues. Overall, mostly fun evening but not worth repeat visit.

Google
We received excellent service at the bar and decent service when we had dinner at the restaurant. I personally felt like the coconut shrimp were overcooked and it looked like maybe the oil they fried them in hadn’t been changed in a long time. The rice and beans are super bland but it has always been that way here. What I didn’t like at all was the fact that they add horseradish (or maybe even brown mustard) to the mango chutney. Horseradish has such an awful taste I don’t see the need to add it to anything ever.

We came from Atlanta to visit friends and they took us to Raes. The food was delicious. Josh our waiter was awesome. Caleb, the manager has done a fantastic job with the staff. The crab cakes my wife and I ordered were out of this world good. The jerk chicken appetizers were moist and very jerky. The chocolate cheese cake had such a delectable taste, I had planned on taking it home but ate every bit of it at the restaurant. It was also wonderful seeing the kids playing putt putt golf outside. Oh, Josh kept the beverages coming.

Google
Wow! This place is delicious! We ordered the Coconut Shrimp and the Blackened Mahi Mahi and it was great! The carrot cake was phenomenal I don’t think I’ve ever had better cake. The service was great and the servers were very friendly. The meals were about $22 a person. Never had Caribbean food before, but it was A+

Google
Decent lil spot for drinks. Food is a little over priced. The crab meat sandwich with fries came to be about $21.00 and the shrimp plate pictured was $13.00 I added a slice of key lime pie and my total came to $43.94. Notice the very small portion of fries that came with each meal and I only got 6 shrimp. I will visit again but just for the bar which I have yet to try

Google
We went as part of a huge family party. While I wasn't expecting a lot this is a place to return to... if you can find it. The jerk chicken sandwich was great and the seafood platter was excellent. There was a lot of excitement for the key lime pie martini and the beer selection was excellent. A superb hidden gem.

Google
Great food. Jerk ribs were tender, juicy, and full of flavor. I couldn't stop eating the wings! Server was friendly and patient. We got there right before opening (5 o'clock), so there was no wait for a table. Around 6 it started getting crowded and more noisy, but it never was too noisy. The outside seating has a good view of the creek.

Google
Quality and portion sizes were good but the entrees we had were bland. We expected the jerk half of chicken and jerk pork tenderloins to have some "bite", but the kitchen didn't seem to put much heart into their cooking. Tastiest offering we ordered was the black bean dip. On the positive, the waitress was very attentive, with frequent but non-intrusive visits to our table to top off our drinks and generally check on us. Atmosphere was somewhere between a sports bar and casual restaurant. It was an hour drive for us which we will likely not make again.

Yelp
Superb! One of Augusta's most iconic establishments was a refreshingly pleasant break after a work week. It has been awhile since we have escaped here and this visit last night was enjoyable again like our previous trips. Made the pro move of a reservation and were seated promptly when we entered. Our server Josh was very personable and provided excellent service. Had the shrimp appetizer served cold of course and was spot on. Our drinks rum runner and the Key Lime martini- a must have when you visit. Green Jacket style was authentic in taste of the original restaurant- the flavor was an exact creation. Ribeye was ordered and flavorful. And now....the wow !!! Catch of the day was Amberjack . Really impressed with this dish, grilled to perfection and just plain delicious. Topped it off with a wonderful rich chocolate cheesecake with raspberry topping. Service, food and plate presentation were top notch...An Augusta tradition we always look forward to....

Yelp
The food is always good, every time I go. The service is always top notch. I highly recommend Rae's Coastal Cafe. I drive down from Columbia to eat at Rae's

Addie L.

Yelp
Food is amazing and consistent with every visit! Service is usually very timely and staff is friendly. Chicken in a puff pastry is my go-to!

Bruce S.

Yelp
Very good food. Very difficult to find, even with the GPS. Inside seating was quite dark so we sat outside.

Yelp
First time ever going to this restaurant because of reviews, and family word of mouth about how good it was. I ordered the Frogmore Stew, I should have prepared myself and brought my Lawry's seasoning with me. I had high hopes for the food and was HIGHLY disappointed. I have never had over cooked shrimp in my life until now. I would rather eat a leather shoe, or overly well done steak. The shrimp tasted like it was already cooked cocktail shrimp thrown into a broil bag and cooked with the rest of the food. (potatoes, sausage and corn) Plus the portion vs the price, do not recommend. Will not be returning.

Yelp
What an absolute let down. I loved this place and am curious as to what happened. Service was mostly good although I think our server was at times a little overwhelmed. Rolls were hard not crispy and tasted a little stale. Butter was well I am pretty sure it was margarine but let's just leave that for the moment. I ordered the Grilled Salmon. It is supposed to be marinated in an orange rum sauce. Sorry but this tail piece was overcooked and never saw a drop of sauce, totally flavorless and dry. The yellow rice also no seasoning no flavor, I substitute green beans for black beans and was initially excited about what appeared to be Haricot verts. Sadly again no flavor just covered in salt and black pepper. I assume the chef was out because what I saw on other plates was just as embarrassing. Several folks left half their steak and honestly I have never seen crab cake look like balls, no crust just naked balls The house salad was drenched in a basic vinaigrette I think to hide that most of the lettuce was wilted and past it's prime. No flavor no seasoning detected just a tiny piece of tomato and red pepper. I would be embarrassed to serve that. Thank god the lighting is dark enough you have a hard time telling how shoddy and worn the place has become. Really not in keeping with the price point that is being charged. I recommend chef go to Rhineharts to get an idea what food can and should taste like. In my opinion Rae's price point should be less than Rhineharts. I don't understand how a chef can let that much bad food come barely warm out their kitchen. Where is your pride, your skill ? I am just a decent home cook and can do way better than that

Yelp
Rae's Coastal Cafe was hiding from me this whole time. I don't know when it was established but it appears to be a seasoned restaurant providing food service within the Forest Hill Racquet club apartments community and CSRA. We sat outside on a cool Saturday evening. They were not too busy. Alright the food hmm some hits some miss. My friend thought the ribs could use more flavor but was tender and went well with the barbecue sauce. The shrimp had too much breading but tasty. The default side of rice and beans was average. The onion blum was the highlight. Really liked the sherry wine sauce. The mahi mahi fish was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Just too small for the price. I do want to visit again cause I like the feel of the restaurant and would like to try other items on the menu.

Yelp
Jerk Chicken Wings make for a happy lunch. If the weathers nice, it's nice to sit out back next to the creek.

Yelp
I recently moved into the neighborhood and was really excited to have Rae's right down the street. This is a cool local joint with an eclectic beach feel. The staff is amazing! They were incredibly welcoming of the "new guy". No taps, but ample beer choices and some delicious cocktails. For meals, I've had the shrimp sandwich and the jerk pork chops. Both were excellent. They come with a side of black beans and rice, which is really good. When you're in Augusta swing by and say hi. You won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Good but overpriced. We've been here twice and both times are shocked by the final bill. Maybe I am biased because my husband is Coast Guard so we can get seafood for MUCH cheaper. The food is good. The service is good. I do feel like they should be able to afford walls in the bathrooms considering how much they charge for the meals! We enjoyed our entrees thoroughly. The salad was very wet and tasted strongly of tomato. The appetizers were bland. We got the fried onion petal and the black bean dip.

Yelp
Great date night spot. This restaurant is tucked away in a neighborhood and definitely gives that "this is where the locals eat" vibe. If you plan on eating dinner here on a weekend, I highly recommend reservations and leave your big trucks home. The parking lot is a little tight. I love their chicken puff pastry. I come just for that. Tonight, I had jerk chicken made with breasts smothered with a sweet mango chutney. It wasn't on their menu, but the waitress recommended it, and I was not disappointed! I really like the atmosphere here. It gives off that island feel. So, when I'm missing the beach and can't get away, I like to come here for a bite to eat.

Yelp
Our food was very good and service was phenomenal! The waitress was very friendly and took time to recommend dishes and even showed us the ducks outside. Ambiance was laid back and since we sat outside very peaceful and quiet. This place is a gem and we can't wait to go back!

Christine O.

Yelp
Service was fantastic. No complaints there. The old fashioned was good, one square cube of ice. I had a key lime martini. There was coconut in it which tasted weird and I didn't like. We had the onion mum as an appetizer. There was zero seasoning in the batter. The sauce was good but the batter was awful. My husband and I both substituted Caesar salad for house. It came as iceberg lettuce absolutely drowned in a dressing that didn't really taste like Caesar with rock hard croutons. I had the filet mignon, ordered medium rare with bleu cheese butter. I thought the butter would be broiled on top but it came on the side. The steak was rare (cool red center) but that was fine too. Very nice cut of meat, tender and flavorful. No complaints about the steak. The potatoes had butter and some visible sprinkled seasoning, but just tasted like boiled potatoes with butter. My husband had the jerk pork. The seasoning was very good. The pork was very dry though. The black beans and rice were bland and the beans still were a little tough/crunchy. Definitely not worth the $103 bill that came at the end. One and done for us.

You H.

Yelp
The food was horrible. The service was even worse! I'll never go back and i wouldn't reccomend this restaraunt to anyone else! My steak was way over cooked and after i told the waitress she said she would get it fixed but brought it out way over cooked again and the potatoes was raw. I'm never going here again!

Yelp
Reservations highly suggested. However, if you don't have one and decide to wait you won't be sorry. We love their Green Jacket Salad, it's the only place in Augusta where you will finish it on the menu year round. The have amazing nightly specials, usually with a delicious fish option! We love that their food has a Cajun flare and often find ourselves passing our plates around so everyone can try a little bit of everything! The staff are friendly and knowledge about the menu and specials and are great with making wonderful recommendations. This is a great little hidden gem here in Augusta and If you haven't tried them out, you should!
google avatar

Dana D.

Yelp
Good luck finding the place. Ask for the jerk. Favorite go to for lunch. A little pricey for dinner. Service is always great! Recommend wings, crab cake and mahi. If you order any fish- get it blackened.
google avatar

Angelica O.

Yelp
I was disappointed after my last visit. The espresso martini was a slightly yellow tinted sweet drink which I was not a fan of. Honestly I'm not even sure they can be sold as an espresso martini. It may have had coffee flavoring but clearly has zero amounts of coffee in it. The "shrimp pâté" was just three heaping tablespoons of cream cheese with the shrimp portion being pretty non-existent. My key lime pie martini was served in this sad little glass and they have shower curtain stalls in their bathrooms which I never minded until someone jerked one wide open while I was using the bathroom so now I have trust issues Lastly, they were out of coconut shrimp which is what I came for so all around the visit was pretty disappointing. I will give them a try again in another 6-12 months once I've forgotten this experience

John G.

Yelp
Forgot a few items on our take out order. Nice people food was good! They made up with some free desserts when I had to return for missing salads.
google avatar

Bart G.

Yelp
The food is so good I have never had anything bad there. The jerk chicken is as good as anything I had in Jamaica
google avatar

Yelp
Pretty good food. Food portion is huge. House salad is very yummy. Jerk chicken is made with special flavor and is a must try.

Yelp
This is my favorite restaurant in Augusta. Not many people know about it, it's tucked away near the Forest Hills Racquet Club apartments. It's a beautiful area. The seating in the restaurant is inside or outside. Very cute and one of a kind restaurant. I came here for my birthday dinner about 6 years ago and will make sure I stop by whenever I am in town for work. The bread is amazing, and the best Caesar salad too! The service is phenomenal too and there's never a wait! And plenty of parking !

Yelp
I have been eating at this restaurant since 2003 on a regular basis. I always get their crabmeat sandwich and rarely am I disappointed. However, I went for lunch yesterday and not only has the price of the sandwich gone from @ $13 to $21 but they used to be about 1/2 inch thick and yesterday I received a patty as thin as a McDonalds hamburger. Shame on you - it is one thing to raise your price due to food prices but to raise the price AND give 2/3 less crabmeat is unjust.
google avatar

Josh R.

Yelp
We came here with a large group, and they did a great job taking care of us. I ordered the Jamaican Jerk Pork. It was very tender and had a lot of flavor. The black beans and rice were also very good.
google avatar

Becky H.

Yelp
Food, service, ambience...check, check, check. We celebrated a milestone birthday here and took advantage of their intimate private dining area (up to 12 people). We had a mixture of kid, teenager, young adult, adult and senior. ALL raved on the menu selections and the quality of food. Our personal staff person Stephanie performed flawlessly. She was prompt, professional, knowledgeable and frequently accessible. We highly recommend this restaurant and specifically recommend the house salad (aka green jacket salad), crab soup (not on menu), and surprisingly...their chicken wings!
google avatar

Ryan L.

Yelp
The Caribbean cuisine was delicious! The jerk chicken wings are flavorful and juicy. The service was exceptional and our waiter seemed very knowledgeable about the menu.
google avatar

Myrna D.

Yelp
Recently celebrated a birthday with my sister. She ordered the crab cake dinner. The green Beans absolutely had no taste. The crab cakes were delicious. The yellow rice had no flavor. Once the waitress took her Meal back and they kitchen put black beans on top of the Yellow rice was it delicious. She took the green beans and Some seasoning was added it still had no taste. Her comment to us was "that's the way they cook it here". This is the south and we love to cook green beans with flavor. I ordered the shrimp with grits. It was just okay with a little Flavor. Overall we were disappointed. Where were the Cajun flavors?
google avatar

Yelp
Love the atmosphere, food and wine selection. Great customer service. They are known for their signature salad.

Yelp
What do I love about the beach? Oh the list is endless. The smell of the ocean, the sun wrapping like a blanket, the feeling that somehow you've found a "Pause" button for life. And, a relaxing restaurant. It can be at the beach or nearby, but it just has to have that laid back/Jimmy Buffett feel to it. Along with some seafood and good drinks. And after 11 years in Augusta, come to find out there's a comparable place here! The tin roof looks like it's been beaten by years of ocean spray, the decor is a mix of parrots and sea shells, and the menu is on point. But first let me "warn" you about the drinks. They pour heavy here. With the location being back in a neighborhood, you might want to consider a ride sharing service. And that's not their attempt to cover up a lack of flavor. I had an Augusta Old Fashioned and a Rum Runner and both had me wanting me. Their apps and main dishes come out timely and plated to perfection. If you can, sit outside. The sound of water comes from a creek, but something about the sound added in the mix makes this a vacation without leaving the area. I am disappointed at myself for not coming here sooner, but trust me I will be coming more regularly (especially with summer temperatures arriving).
google avatar

Jay S.

Yelp
Hard to find -average food. Food-3/5 she crab soup and crab entrees were good but not outstanding Location- inconvenient, in residential neighborhood facing tennis courts Service 2/5. Slow, not friendly Premises 2/5. Tired, dark, cheerless. Does have done outdoor tables Probably won't return
google avatar

Sarah K.

Yelp
We came to Rae's after reading all the great reviews. It's a little tucked away in the subdivisions, so the location is a bit different. The place looked packed, but they seated us immediately and we managed to beat the lunch rush on the weekend. Their hours are a little different, too, so you want to make sure they're open before you head out. The decor was fun and lively, and the servers seemed fine. Our service was a little slow for what we got, and my husband said the cheeseburger wasn't anything out of the ordinary. I don't know why he would eat a cheeseburger at a seafood place, but whatever makes him happy. The shrimp were great, and so were the fries! I really enjoyed the house-made sauce. Aside from the slow service, prices were okay but I would probably say a little higher. You could easily eat within a $15/pp budget here, though.

Joan M.

Yelp
Went there for Mother's Day - Soooo disappointed! Service - waiter with an attitude. Food was undercooked and cold and not just my meal.. All the meals were barely warm. Cannot recommend this restaurant and their high prices for what you get.
google avatar

Tamelia W.

Yelp
The idea of this restaurant is great but the food is VERY bland. The presentation of the food was nice. The hostess and server that we had were also very nice and attentive. The food was flavorless. No seasoning....I was very disappointed. This could be a nice place to get drinks for a date. BUT THERE IS NO SEASONING ON THE FOOD!!!!!!

Andreas M.

Yelp
Despite two previous visits, seated on the patio, I was turned away at the door today. No dogs allowed, the manager said. Listed as pet friendly. Not correct.
google avatar

Paula -.

Yelp
Nice hidden gem! We received a warm welcome at the door. The friendly atmosphere offers a dining room and a bar seating area. Sports fans. - Out door seating with a bigs screen tv is available as well. The jerk chicken wings are a must try!! Family friendly!
google avatar

Jessie Y.

Yelp
Very hard to find place tucked inside a neighborhood. The plus is that it's very secluded/exclusive and that there's an amazing view of the creek in the back of the cafe! I came with a large party for dinner on a Friday night, and the place seemed super packed. The waiter took about an hour to take our orders, an hour for the food to come out, and an hour for our check to come. Overall the service was slow even for serving a large party. The food was pretty good. The bloomin' onion was delicious, and the chips + black bean dip was even better. I especially enjoyed their she-crab soup that was a tad salty but nonetheless flavorful and full of seafood goodness. I tried their grilled salmon entree which was pretty average, and especially considering the price (~$18) , I definitely do NOT recommend this one. The portion size of the salmon was also very tiny. My friends got the shrimp & grits instead, which looked better and according to them was very good as well. Overall the food seemed overpriced, but I guess that's what you pay for for feeling like you're on a mini vacation at the beach somewhere.
google avatar

Javier F.

Yelp
Love this place! I sat at the bar. Chatted with the friendly locals and bartenders. The food was very good. I live in South Florida so know what good Caribbean food tastes like. It tastes like this! Rum runners were excellent! This is a local's place where it's cozy, intimate but casual and relaxing. Really cool. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Madelyn M.

Yelp
Local place. Out of the way. Hard to find. And for a local place, great food. This place is not fancy; a local hangout. Nice sized bar. I had a key lime martini: flavorful with a graham cracker rim. For an appetizer, we had the black bean dip with tortilla chips. It was ok. The conch bites were good; served with a mango chutney. The salad served with dinner entrees was a simple green salad with Italian dressing served on a chilled dish. Nice touch! For dinner: shrimp 'n grits were excellent! Jerk wings were also excellent as were the coconut fried shrimp. The jerk boneless pork chops were good (not dry at all), but the jerk seasoning was better on the wings. The sides of rice and beans were excellent. Our waiter Josh was great! He was polite, prompt, and very attentive. Overall, definitely not fine dining. It's a great place for good food. BTW: the low boil bake looked great! Next time...
google avatar

Proffesor M.

Yelp
I would not recommend eating here. The food is subpar, and sometimes undercooked. The staff are rude or unsympathetic. The atmosphere is subpar at best, and the ambience as well. Overall one star.
google avatar

Veeta P.

Yelp
Shadrick the manager did a fantastic job coordinating the scheduling the surprise dinner He made sure we had everything that we needed. Robert our server was polite and professional. He was quick with our service and very accommodating. We had a party of 9 and our food came out on time aNd together. Everything was delicious. No one sent anything back or had any complaints. The scallops and crab cakes was so die for. I would definitely make a second visit.
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
Food and service were great. We had a large group with some leaving for the airport and Kailyn our server made sure for speedy service. You can tell it's a very well managed establishment.
google avatar

Keith D.

Yelp
Hard to find but worth the hunt. Their salad is the Green Jacket Salad. It's famous in Augusta. Top it with a filet of salmon and you have a full meal. There menu is varied and remind me os south Louisiana. The interior is quaint but relaxing. The staff is awesome. Nice view out the back window. Great for single, couples, or big groups. Never been disappointed. One of my truly best restaurants in the area. They serve lunch and dinner only. Enjoy.
google avatar

Michael A.

Yelp
I love their food and the environment and the scenic view of Rae's Creek. We have had several parties there and the service and the food was always great!

Yelp
My wife and I found this place on Yelp. It's not real easy to find, but I recommend you take the trouble. The outside isn't going to win any landscaping awards but walking in the door is like stepping into a new world. The decor is somewhat beachy, with a lot of wood. Very comforting. They don't have TVs on every wall playing sports. There is music but it isn't blaring. It's a nice comfortable place to go visit with friends and enjoy the food. Service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. She earned (and got) a nice tip. Our lunch was delicious. My wife had the pcrab cake lunch special and I had a crab cake sandwich. Both were excellent. You can't often compliment the bun of a sandwich, but in this case the bun shared center stage. The crab cake itself was just that. Crab meat without a bunch of fillers. The bun was soft but nicely toasted for just the right crunch. It isn't the cheapest place but for what you get, it's more than reasonable. I will definitely return. You should give it a try.
google avatar

Paul F.

Yelp
Had the crab cake special - basically was two ice cream scoops of some crab concoction which they charged me $26 for. Came with very salty green beans and yellow rice. Had the frozen mango dessert which all you could taste was the raspberry sauce that was on it - the dessert was pretty tasteless. Got out of there with low tip for $60 for the two of us. Basically gave two stars as the tea was good but everything else was very very very disappointing. Would I go again - probably not as there are some nice places in Augusta that you can dine for at $60 which are superb.

Yelp
Whenever I visit a new city I try to find that local gem... Rae's Coastal Café definitely hit the nail on the head. Tucked away in a residential neighborhood, i definitely thought I was lost.. but once I arrived, had my seat at the bar and began to look at the menu I knew I was right at home. I ordered the shrimp paté as a starter and the seasoning of the paté along with the mango chutney that came with it was so amazing. For my entree I ordered the Jerk Chicken sandwich and it was love at first bite.. and for dessert was homemade key lime pie which probably taste better than the pie I had down in Key West which is saying a lot! If you're a martini drinker you can't go wrong with the Key Lime Martini. I definitely enjoyed this tucked away gem and will definitely be back when I'm back in town.
google avatar

Kevin H.

Yelp
Wow! Rae's Coastal Cafe a delightful establishment... a diamond in the rough hidden in the middle of a residential area. This place is amazing. Sitting was open, my wife and I was greeted by our waitress who was very polite and friendly, she took our drink order and informed us of the special of the day also of the two (2) menus we may order from. I really liked the Caribbean island decor and the two fish tanks set it all off. Rae's Coastal Cafe also offer a full bar. We ordered the Jerk Chicken Wings for an appetizer and they were so delicious we also ordered off the dinner menu the Prime Rib meal, I must say it was out of sight. We really enjoyed this establishment and would recommend it to family and friends alike, finding it may be a challenge however worth the attempt, Rae's Costal Cafe is a true Augusta hidden gem!

Grady M.

Yelp
A hidden gem in Augusta, the food was great and the staff was amazing. It's a little hard to find but worth the adventure. The ambiance was a mix of nautical and golf but it works.

Yelp
A SAD excuse for a "good" Caribbean restaurant. Our first experience here started off not so great. Called and set a reservation for a party of 7 at 7:00 and finally got seated at 7:40. Got told our table was "getting set up now" a good four times in-between then. Not much waiting room in the waiting area so be prepared to be in the way of everything; bathroom, front door and host stand. We were finally sat (at two separate tables) and had to push them together. The waiter accidentally spilled a cup of water on the table which then spilled onto me which is fine things happen and it wasn't too much on me anyways, but there was barley and apology from them which I thought was a little rude. The food was sub par. I got the grilled salmon and potatoes, the salmon was cooked well and the potatoes were great! But my boyfriend and parents food (jerk chicken and frog-more stew) were bland, menu said it to prepare for spicy and flavorful and it was nowhere near that. Presentation of food was meh. The service was okay nothing great, tossed silverware and plates down and didn't really explain anything. Since we were sat so late and we got our food and 8:25 ish we were feeling rushed since they closed at 9. Constantly asking if we were finished and rapidly collecting plates. All in all for a first experience, it wasn't so great and don't think we'll be going back. The sweet tea was great though!

Yelp
One of our first picks for date night, best wings ever!! We love Rae's! Def top 5 in the area!
