Yelp
Raglan Road Irish Restaurant was an amazing experience from start to finish! Get ready to loosen your belt buckles and make room for a hearty, Irish feast. Unfortunately, you'll have to empty your wallets, too, as Raglan boasts a hefty price tag, which is the only reason it's receiving 4 instead of 5 stars from me!
The storefront looks like a classic Irish pub, and an Irish jig can be heard welcoming newcomers to review the menu posted outside. My boyfriend and I were intrigued and decided to give Raglan Road a go despite the dollar signs ($$$). We were seated quickly but had to wait a few minutes before we were greeted by our server. She was AMAZING though - very attentive, friendly, funny, and made us feel right at home! She was also very knowledgeable about the menu and the whiskeys available for tasting.
For a starter, we order the comfort bread - I had always wanted to try soda bread. Raglan's comfort bread was served with a Guinness glaze! It was sweet but a bit heavy. In hindsight I did not need to order this at all because what was coming was only going to be heavier! I also ordered the Wild Rosey cocktail which had
Glenalough Wild Rose Gin and the biggest slice of grapefruit I have ever seen in my life! It was very refreshing and big enough to last me through the entire meal. My boyfriend tried the Whiskey flight, which allowed him to taste three different whiskeys.
For my entree, I ordered the Chicken Pie Do Try - a Raglan rendition of chicken pot pie, an Irish classic. It was delicious! My favorite part of the flaky, cooked to perfection crust. The filling was warm and creamy, but the shell kept its form and did not get soggy. It was served with yummy mashed potatoes with shredded green onions, and roasted carrots. I felt like rock after eating all of this starch-heavy food, but, it sure was good!
My boyfriend seemed very satisfied with his choice - Worth The Wait Beef Sandwich. He said the beef was some of the best he has ever had on a sandwich but complained that there was a bit too much cheese for his liking. The French fries served with his sandwich were to die for, though (I may have had 1 or 2...or 6).
The ambiance was delightful. Lots of sounds and colors with peppy Irish tunes playing in the background. We didn't dine during a time when live performances were being had, but Raglan is known for great live entertainment.
Overall, Raglan Road was a great dining experience, but it cost a pretty penny. Be warned - go on an empty stomach to really make the experience worth it!
