I think this is a solid 3-star experience. I had never been to Rainforest Cafe, and my husband hadn't been since he was a child, and he kept talking about how he wanted to go back someday. This is the closest location to us, so I took him on a surprise trip on a February Saturday for us to eat here for lunch. They take reservations, which I always appreciate.
We both ended up having a lot of fun. The ambiance was pretty cool and I enjoyed experiencing it once. I am not sure I need to experience it again, unless we brought kids with us for them to enjoy. It was pretty overstimulating, as they were blasting pop music, the constant rainforest sounds, and then every 30 minutes there would be a "thunderstorm" and the lights would flicker while all the animals would move around and make noise. We found it entertaining, but I imagine it could be overstimulating for some kids.
The food was solidly decent. I had a burger, fries, and a side of coconut shrimp. The shrimp were very good and the burger and fries were decent. My husband got salmon and shrimp and he thought the salmon was okay. We also got a smoothie (amazing) and pink lemonade (good), as well as iced teas. The waiters seemed really busy and running around, and it was hard for us to catch our waiter for iced tea refills. Other than that, he was great. The food was definitely overpriced.
I think my favorite part, besides the general dining room experience, was the gift shop. It took a lot of self control not to purchase all the sloth stuffed animals. I might come back just to the gift store for a shopping spree one day. Overall, we would return for the experience if we brought kids or adults who wanted to experience it for the first time (or the first time as an adult!), but we almost certainly wouldn't return otherwise. If the prices dropped significantly, then I'd be more likely to come back if we happened to be in the area. Otherwise, I suppose you're just paying for the experience. Still worth one trip though if you've never been!
