The New Restaurant Design Trend Is Trees Growing Out of Booths | Eater

"A well-known rainforest-themed restaurant chain that epitomizes over-the-top jungle decor and often serves as the reference point for designers embracing the current “edgy jungle” trend. The aesthetic is being reinterpreted by transforming booths into built-in planters so trees sprout right behind diners—a luxe, fashion-forward update on the ’80s mall plant pit—and commentators stress that restaurants should actually keep those trees alive rather than letting them die." - Hillary Dixler Canavan

The Best and Worst Chicago Restaurant Week Deals For Five Popular Cuisines | Eater Chicago

"I was surprised to see tourist trap Rainforest Cafe offering a Restaurant Week deal: both lunch and dinner are three courses, but without regular-menu pricing online it’s hard to compare value; a note on the Restaurant Week menu saying soda isn’t included is a small red flag, and when lunch at Bellemore is the same price and number of courses, the choice becomes easy to favor the other spot." - Elizabeth Atkinson

We had the best dinner date at the Rainforest Cafe last night. Our server was Moe and he was amazing . Very sweet and helpful. We both loved our food and couldn’t finish it so packed it up for to go. Last time we went there it was on my birthday and I had the Bombay Chicken & Shrimp and I hope next time I’ll take that. Their foods are always delicious! And I love the whole environment! Will be back soon! 5 star to Moe!!!

Google
5 star all the way!! The waiter Michael was on point. Made some recommendations and they were phenomenal!! The chicken in both dishes were so moist and tender!! Whoever is involved with the food prep and cooking deserves a big thanks!! And to all there to include management, thank you for an amazing meal and excellent experience!!!

Kayla R.

Google
Our server was Theresa and she was absolutely amazing !! Haven’t been back here in years and let me tell you we had a phenomenal time and great experience. We had the jerk chicken and shrimp pasta and the Cajun ny strip with the bourbon shrimp. Absolutely delicious!! Definitely will be back due to the great hospitality. Thank you Theresa!

DINAH S.

Google
Well well well, this was my first Time here and my waitress THERESA was a Breathe of Fresh Air 😀. She was professional and kind. Very informative with the dishes and drink menu. Now regarding the rewards program it was a must to sign up. There are so many other places I frequent that I realized I'm losing money by not being a member. Thank you to the lovely Theresa for making my rain forest visit feel like I was not in the jungle forging for food. She was very versatile as she dealt with my party of six.

Google
We were seated almost immediately and the food exceeded expectations! I figured because of the themed aspect of it, that the food wouldn't be amazing but it was delicious!! Korean Fried Chicken Lettuce Wraps were PHENOMENAL. The pieces of lettuce were tiny so we just mostly ate the dish with forks, but it was the perfect size for 2 adults to share. Has a kick to it!! Drinks were good, and most of them come with a souvenir cup to take home. Got the Crispy Chicken Bruschetta for an entree and it was large enough to bring home leftovers! Chicken was great, crispy on the outside but juicy on the inside. All the food was hot, didn't take long despite how busy it was, and our server Michael was very attentive and did a great job. Got the Volcano cake for our friend as it was his birthday, and it was enough for all 6 of us to have plenty of dessert. Would come back!! I'd recommend Rainforest Cafe for a couple date, group date, and to bring the family! Kids especially would love this place.

Perla D.

Google
It was a really great experience... Our server Paul was very kind and kept checking in on us to make sure we were good. The food was really good. I would come back 100% I love the atmosphere and its just fun to be here.

Christopher H.

Google
The food was pretty good and overall the service was great....after you make it past the host. They told us that strollers weren't allowed and we should have known to bring our car seat.....not sure where to find that information. All and all the visit was good. And to top it all off, to offer a free picture only to up sale pictures in a cheap frame.

Roxana G.

Google
There are truly no words to capture how amazing our experience was at the Rainforest Café! From the moment you walk in, you’re instantly transported into a lush jungle—complete with mesmerizing sounds, lifelike animations, and breathtaking décor that makes you feel like you’ve stepped into a real rainforest. The food was an absolute 10/10 (actually, more like 1000/10) — delicious and totally worth the price. What really made the experience unforgettable, though, was the exceptional customer service. Our server, Kelsey, was the sweetest and most attentive person ever. Thank you, Kelsey, for making our visit even more special and going above and beyond! If you’re thinking about visiting, don’t hesitate — it’s worth every minute. And make sure to check out the adorable gift shop by the entrance before you leave!

Yelp
Wow! I was in AC for half marathon weekend. I have a rule during vacations to avoid chain restaurants bc I like to support locally owned. Due to time constraints I had to break that rule and head to Rainforest Cafe. Glad I did! Between race weekend and the Stevie Nicks concert, they were SLAMMED. Yet everything was 5 stars! Despite those working the hostess stand being overwhelmed and surrounded by waiting guests, we were greeted very warmly and treated with kindness and humor. Our server was fantastic...efficient and kind. He was very respectful of the hurry everyone was in and stayed calm despite working more tables than I could even count! Having been a server for almost a decade ... I can only say this is impressive! Food was a little slower than typical but not bad and to be expected considering how busy they were PLUS pumping out to go orders like nobody's business! My friend ordered the steak dinner and I'll be honest that the steak was overcooked and the steak itself just average esp since she described how she wanted it down (pink all the way through). Let's be real though...it's not a steak house. Rest of her meal was good. I ordered lasagna and mashed potatoes (maybe weird if you don't run half marathons lol). Both were large portions and the lasagna was some of the best I have EVER had. I had enough of both for leftovers which almost never happens, bc I EAT. As far as ambiance...it's the Rainforest Cafe. Obviously cool. :) Finally....want to call out that I noticed the manager helping at the hostess stand and answering the phone (maybe taking to go orders?). It's always awesome to see a manager helping FOH when they're slammed..as they should. :) Thanks for making pre race dinner experience great!

Yelp
I have heard about the Rainforest Cafe before but never actually visited one until recently. The restaurant was very spacious and as you can imagine rainforest themed with animatronic animals and other rainforest decor. The menu had quite a few options that was reasonably priced and the meal portions were adequate. The staff we interacted with were pleasant and prompt. I would recommend this restaurant to others visiting the boardwalk.

Yelp
We had a fantastic time here! The jerk chicken and shrimp pasta were excellent, and the shrimp sampler was just as good--flavorful, fresh, and perfectly cooked. The summer colada mix we ordered wasn't quite our thing, but our server (wish I remembered his name) immediately changed it for free and gave us something even better. That kind of service really makes a difference! The atmosphere is unique with a fun jungle theme. At first, I thought it might be a little too playful for us grown folks, but they pulled it off perfectly. It's the kind of place that works for adults and kids alike--our kids are going to love it when we bring them here. We also appreciated that they're open until 11 PM when most places close at 10. Between the great food, attentive service, and lively atmosphere, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Always loved coming here for lunch ! Highly recommend the trip to the rainforest when in AC ! Food and service always good and worth the price.

Yelp
Fun, fast and friendly, right on the boardwalk in Atlantic City. Also, just like every other Rainforest Cafe- so you know what to expect. The servers here were pretty good. I had the taco salad, and it seemed pretty fresh. Fun dining for kids and aimed at families.
google avatar

Kelsey S.

Yelp
The rainforest cafe is an iconic experience that you at least need to try once. You walk into what looks like a jungle with animatronics, sounds, smoke and water. The kids will definitely love this, but as an adult all you can think is... how do they dust all of these things? The temperature inside was hot and uncomfortable which may have just been from the outside that day. You walk in and can sit at the bar that looks like animal legs which is fun and silly. It is quite dark inside and if you have anxiety it is a lot for sure. They sell their promotional cups with frogs and parrots on them. And do have a gift shop up front. Our waitress was attentive and polite. They had many iconic drinks and ICEEs for the kids. The menu did not have a lot but was okay. I ordered the Bimini chicken sandwich. It was really good with the hot honey sauce on the side. The coconut curry slaw was so different and enjoyable. The beast burger on the other hand was overcooked and dry. There was not much flavor to it. The experience itself was nice especially if you have kids, as adults probably will not go back. But definitely worth it for family fun.

Yelp
I came here recently with a friend as we both hadn't been since we were kids and wanted to check it out. We arrived around 3pm during the "off-season" for AC, so we didn't have to wait for a seat. We were worried we might be the only ones in the restaurant but it was decently busy. I ordered an alcoholic drink (some sort of raspberry vodka drink) and it was delicious but weak, which isn't surprising for a chain restaurant. My friend got the turkey wrap and I went for the shrimp tacos. Neither meal was anything special and my tacos were a bit on the bland side, but quality wise they tasted perfectly fine so I was pleasantly surprised. I enjoyed my meal overall. I couldn't resist getting their special "30th Birthday Cake" dessert they had, as I also turned 30 this year. It does mention it's a portion for 4 people, which I found a bit weird but I guess most people coming here are typically coming with bigger groups. The dessert was just alright, I wouldn't personally order it again. They also didn't use sparklers as advertised on any of their deserts - maybe they were just out or had bad experiences in the past, not sure. The ambiance is obviously more exciting if you're a kid, but we still had fun. Although we probably spent an hour or so in there and were definitely ready to go by the end. The music is quite loud, accompanied by various animal noises and the thunderstorm every 15 minutes, so it's all a bit much after a while. Don't look too close at the ceiling either because I definitely feel like this place hasn't been touched up since it opened, everything looks a bit dull. Overall, we enjoyed the experience but it's definitely novelty and not a place I'd return to frequently. I'd like to bring my future nephew here when he's old enough, though!

Yelp
Can you say do not pass the salt...omg salty! The boo and I needed a lunch spot he had never been to a Rainforest cafe so off we went .. I am so not a fast food or chain food lover but I was happy to see they had a fish and chips option on the menu ..they over salted the batter the fries were way salty too the wrap which was a turkey Cesar wrap wasn't salty . Típ being if and when you go order a salad . The absolute saving grace was the staff we apparently got there when it opened so we waited a bit but as soon as they saw us kind attentive had recommendations and at the store showed me sale items and we pleasantly chatted. Am I coming back l yes ... my granddaughters would love it ...but I'll stick to a salad

Yelp
Five stars for the experience, 4 stars if food only. That being said if you've got youngsters, you'll be happy. My grandsons had their best restaurant experience to date. Service was decent but very friendly. Very lively restaurant. Kids menu is great at $9.99. The chicken quesadillas are great. One of the best in town. My meatloaf was more a Salisbury steak but the potatoes and carrots were fantastic. Prices are a little high in my opinion but it's worth it overall of dining with a family. Drinks are good but also pricey. .

Yelp
What can you say about a place like this? Is it great for kids/families with little ones, yes. Are the menus slightly sticky and everything is overpriced for Mediocre food, also yes. Although I will say I got the blackened fish tacos and they were pretty good. The adult drinks were tasty as well. And shout out to the hostess who accommodated our large group with no reservations.

Yelp
Rainforest Cafe is a nostalgia-inducing restaurant that's perfect for families with kids or those just seeking a fun time. The last time I went to one was when I was much younger, so experiencing it as an adult was an interesting experience. Overall, 10/10 for ambience, of course. It's decorated very well and has the fun little "thunderstorm" every 30 minutes that makes things a little more lively. The service was great - especially because our waitress was attentive to my gluten sensitivity and made sure to check on things for me and potential allergens. The food is nothing to write home about, but it's not bad. It's a little expensive, but this is not really a restaurant that's anyone should expect fine dining from. Plus, a huge upside is that they don't charge for the gluten-free substitution for the bun.

Yelp
Wow! This place brought back memories. I use to take my boys here often when it was at the mall in CT. Unfortunately it closed down, so my son and I HAD to visit when visiting AC. I enjoyed the lightening storms that happened every few mins. It was exactly how I remember it. The staff yelling volcannnno when bringing out the special dessert! The food was so good toooo! It was like being in a real life jungle!!!

Yelp
For a typical Rainforest Cafe, it's a decent experience! Ambiance & Service: The jungle-themed decor and animated animals create a fun, immersive atmosphere. Our server Daniel was fantastic--attentive and friendly. The free photo with a postcard is a nice touch! Food: - Spinach & Artichoke Dip: Tasty dip, but the chips were stale and dry. - Amazon Fajitas: Flavorful veggies with good Caribbean rice and beans. Plenty of tortillas, but the beans and tomatoes tasted off. TL;DR: Fun atmosphere with great service, but the food is hit or miss.

Yelp
This place was fascinating for me you walk in and you go through the gift shop we had reservation so we didn't have to wait long at all. We kind of just approach them and we seat when you walk through. It is so beautiful. There's so much to look at now when it comes to the food, they have a more of a Hawaiian thing going on, but the food was really good. The service was OK.

Yelp
BEWARE and KEEP YOUR RECEIPTS and CHECK your bank transaction! I wish I listened to the 1 star reviews and saved us all the headache. I hate making these reviews as I am so easily flexible and chill and fluid. So this was our first time eating here and it was a big family dinner (12 of us) We went to celebrate our kiddos bday and had a reservation. We were walking there because it is on the boardwalk but had some issues on the way so we were 15 minutes late for our bday package reservation time. Someone had called us about our reservation 5 minutes after and we told them we were on the way but they canceled it once we got there. They told us it would be a 30 minute wait and we thought okay we will wait. Especially since it was our kiddos bday and we heard it is cool inside and so we were like lets just experience it once. However while waiting people were walking in with no reservation and they were seating them. (We could have called and let them know we were running late. I get that) Once we were seated it was very cool looking inside! Love the thunder storm and all the animals and their sounds. Really is a cool place but they just have to up their standards for food qualitt and staff at this location. Our server seemed to be having an off day, maybe rude people, so we made sure to be polite and kind and not complain to hopefully make his interactions with us a pleasant one. ( I will leave his name out BUT I do remember all yalls names) We got our drinks but it was so overpriced that it is definitely not worth it. The food looked good but it definitely tastes like cheaply made Applesbees food for the price of fine dining. We didnt get refills on our drinks and we were not checked on by our waitor for over 20 minutes. He also forgot some of our drinks so we had remind him of that. He was busy though so I get it. We asked him since they canceled our reservation if it meant we didnt get the bday package and he got the manager for us to confirm. The manager ( whom lacked customer service by not being friendly or kind. Instead very dissmisive) said since we didn't pay a deposit we dont get it. However, with all the email traffic a month prior to booking this reservation, not once we were told to pay a deposit. Which now I am thankful we didn't because....Lastly THE MAIN REASON I am doing this review is because they over charged me and the other members of the party! Thank GOD we kept our receipts so BEWARE! Being in a tourist area, I can only imagine how many people they do this to. I contacted corporate as well because this is not okay!!!!
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
The experience was great, the decor and atmosphere were fun, the food was ok. We did come in an hour before close (others came after us too) but they did not rush us at all and even let us look around and shop at the gift shop!
google avatar

Tori E.

Yelp
TRASH! THIEVES & terrible customer service!! Check your bank statements! Before leaving, I had a gut feeling they were going to charge me the wrong total. The receipt has a "suggested" total but after adding your tip, your total will vary. They did not charge me the amount I wrote down but instead charged me more. Our server was crappy! Never checked in on us, forgot part of our orders, and took away from the whole experience. Overall, the restaurant staff acted like they hated being there, not very professional. Food was worse than Applebees/Chilis and overpriced!! The best thing is the decor (obvi) and the shop for the kids to enjoy.

Yelp
If Disney were to design a rainforest restaurant, this would be it. It is such a unique experience that I could not pass it up while walking on the Atlantic City boardwalk on this beautiful weekend. I have never been to a Rainforest Cafe although I have seen them in other parts of the United States. I think the Atlantic City boardwalk, beaches and water are under-rated. The ambiance is immersive with animated animals, statues, vegetation, water features, a taking tree with a earth friendly message and tropical fish. What really makes the atmosphere special is the thunderstorm and lightening effects which frequently occur. Warning, they are loud! As far as the food is concerned, I ordered the Flatbread Pizza ($15.49). I loved the mozzarella cheese and the other toppings. The crust was not soggy and perfectly cooked. It was also tasty and just enough for lunch. The strawberry lemonade was cold but could have had a stronger berry flavor. Service at 1pm was efficient considering the time of day. The Rainforest Cafe is near Caesars which has 1/2 price parking lots nearby.
google avatar

Vivienne C.

Yelp
I would've loved this place as a kid, but as an adult, maybe not so much. I really wanted to try Rainforest Cafe as it is such an iconic restaurant, but I think one time is enough and I do not need to go back again. We had to wait 30 minutes without a reservation because they didn't have enough servers. Although, when we were seated, the service was quick and efficient. I ordered the Caribbean Coconut Fried Shrimp and the dish felt pretty heavy. The shrimp was very heavily breaded and I didn't really enjoy the mango dipping sauce that it came with as it tasted quite artificial. The fries were good but nothing too memorable. I wish they had something to balance it all out, even some pickles would have helped. The interior is a huge "rainforest" with storms every hour. Honestly, I was not really keen on the design as it was kind of loud and felt claustrophobic. Sure the animatronics and statues were very impressive but I don't know if I want to eat with all of these things. Definitely kids would've loved it. Not sure if I would come back again.
google avatar

Jenna D.

Yelp
Service wasn't excellent as our waiter didn't check on us often. The food, however, was terrific! I had the Blue Mountain chicken sandwich, and my friend had the original burger. Both were cooked very well and were super flavorful. The restaurant, like any rainforest cafe, has a lot going on. I believe thunderstorms happen every 15-30 minutes, but they only last about 2 minutes. I would say if you're looking for an interesting eating experience then this is the place.

Yelp
Returned to celebrate birthdays and again service was great. Friendly, patient with our large group. Two thumbs up. Stars added for this. Food is 3/5. Just shared Taste of the Islands with my husband, with an extra side of caribbean rice. It had a variety of seafood, the tilapia is dry. Nachos was a big plate, not as meaty. Chimi-chachas (didn't like the flavor) and quesadilla (was bland and plain) in appetizer sampler were not good, for me. The brownie volcano was brought out by staff while singing, and that was fun for the celebrants. The fusion margarita had just a hint of alcohol. Strawberry lemonade had whole strawberries. In souvenir drink glasses if you request. Called ahead for a reservation and was able to move it when we knew we would be late. Parked again by nearby Caesar's so we could walk through the casino (ask for receipt and can park at another casino for free), but there is also a lot nearby for 1/2 the price. Should have requested to be seated more inside when I called - was told large groups only by the front. We weren't the only group that size though. Anyway, it was brighter and I did get a good photo of my family with the mist. The brown paper towel holder in the ladies' room looked the same.
google avatar

Yelp
Food was decent. Overpriced as hell. Our waiter was just on. He checked in every now and then, but wasn't very attentive. The Ambiance was good.

Yelp
Such a fun spot when on vacation! You really feel like you're in the rainforest between the decor and sound effects. We were seated quickly and service was very fast. I got the paradise house salad with balsamic dressing. They didn't give enough dressing for the salad, but it was fresh and delicious. I also got a side of safari fries which were yummy. Will always come back when visiting AC!

Yelp
Atmosphere is never a miss in Rainforest Cafe- it's actually the only reason I can imagine anyone wanting to dine here. The specific reason for my review is that I wanted to address a cross contamination I encountered. I wanted to order the coconut shrimp and when I inquired about it, the waitress immediately said she would not recommend. My response to that was "I am allergic to fish, so what else would you recommend". She said the chicken was good so that's what I chose. As with anyone with an allergy, I know my body and I know my reactions. I also know that normally my fish allergy is noted when mentioned and most of the time by passed because specifically seafood restaurants know how common this is. Immediately upon finishing my food I feel myself start to become flushed, hot, and ill. I was breaking out in hives. I asked the waitress is the chicken was fried in the same oil with fish and she said yes. And in response I reiterated that I mentioned mt allergy and she didn't mention it being fried in the same oil. She essentially said it was my responsibility to ensure that she was absolutely 100% aware of my allergy. I was basically gaslit. After more words were exchanged I walked away to meet the rest of my group who was shopping in the gift shop. After about 3 minutes, the waitress comes back to tell me the chicken is not in fact fried in the same oil as the fish. At this point, I know I am being lied to because I am clearly sick and know that I am having a reaction. I state this to her and she her response "we both learned a valuable lesson here". MA'AM YOU AND YOUR ESTASBLISHMENT ARE THANKFUL MY ALLERGY IS NOT SEVERE ENOUGH TO CLOSE MY AIRWAY. On top of this, my coworker overheard the waitress talking with a coworker who said "we all make mistakes" AGAIN, THIS COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. This establishment does not take allergies seriously. Food is subpar. Service is obviously trash.

Helen W.

Yelp
My server was nice. It took awhile to place an order, receive our order, and things were forgotten. It was busy so I understand I order the beef lava nachos. It was HORRIBLE. It's literally nachos with a bunch of black beans and specks of low quality beef. Bean nachos for $20 was def not worth it. My entree was a steak with mashed potatoes, and seasonal vegetables. The whole entree was cold. Steak was cooked correctly but bland and dry. Mashed potatoes were dry and bland. Seasonal veggies were undercooked, I couldn't figure out if it was supposed to be a salad or a cooked side. The only thing I enjoyed was the ambiance and the entertainment with the lights flickering to imitate a rainforest.

Yelp
I came here with my family for my birthday on July 4th. We had reservations for a certain area for months and confirmed reservation in that area multiple times. When we came for our reservation, the host was extremely rude and didn't give us the table we reserved. The manager came to talk with us and said "it's a holiday, what do you expect us to do" said he would take care of us and just checked on us a few times. No accommodation for their mess up besides "checking in" on us. Manager and waitress were nice though. Food is decent but overpriced. Some of animatronics are out of service, kind of disappointing. I've been going to these restaurants in different locations and this one was just a let down. Our waitress tried her best to make my birthday special so I really appreciate that.

Yelp
I liked the service from Elena. Friendly and smiling. The food was brought quickly and everything was delicious.

Yelp
Great family spot! Decor is kitschy. Portions are large. Food is adequate. Service was quick & graciously accepted our party of 15 with ease.

Yelp
Amazing Mac n Cheese! Great ambiance! I would skip the sampler appetizer platter but definitely get the spinach and artichoke dip!
google avatar

Adam H.

Yelp
It was off season so the staff was small which was fine as there were only a few customers. Wife got the punch drink and the glass lit up and projected and image when your picked up. Very cool. Their version of a Cuban sandwich was to die for. I am Coming back just for that sandwich. The bread had a spice in it that was soooooo good. The meat and cheese were on point. And it had ONLY mustard as the proper Cuban should have. It was 1 of the best thing I ate all week in AC.

Yelp
This location of the Rainforest Cafe has been pretty good the few times I have tried it. The inside is obviously decorated greatly and we love sitting in during thunderstorms. That's a fun part of the night when it's a thunderstorm simulation with sounds and lights. The food is pretty good, nothing spectacular, but never bad. Our favorites are usually the drinks and dessert though.
google avatar

Mia K.

Yelp
There's no place like this as far as atmosphere, with fog and mist and light/sound effects. The server was upbeat and attentive to our large table. But the food and drinks were questionable, though they were presented well. I can't even say they were overpriced, given the location and entertainment value. The bathroom was just like the other reviews said... needs to be updated and that brown tray of napkins really has to go! In short, just come here and enjoy the scenery. The huge platter of nachos and huge brownie volcano are probably the best deals because they can each feed at least 4 people.
google avatar

Yelp
Made a reservation and I was quickly seated. The food was so good and will definitely go back there. We ordered: 2 juices and you can take the cups home as a souvenir. Awesome appetizer platter Rasta pasta Pastalaya
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
Service was excellent and everyone was a ton of fun. Every kid in the building was having a great time with their servers and interacting with them. The food is just so pitiful! I get it's a family tourist trap but the quality of food is lower than Dennys. Our chips were so chewy/ soggy we didn't really eat them. The mozzarella sticks were delicious but the sauce tasted freezer burned. The chicken was typical chicken and the honey mustard it came with was very sweet and processed tasting. The egg rolls were also soggy and didn't have any crunch. The dip was dry but it was the best. The ambiance is amazing and it's so fun to watch the kids excitement but I wouldn't recommend actually eating here! Just get a mediocre appetizer, a desert, or some drinks.. enjoy the awesome scenery and eat anywhere but here. The scenery and awesome staff can only do so much. The food game needs to be improved.

Yelp
I think this is a solid 3-star experience. I had never been to Rainforest Cafe, and my husband hadn't been since he was a child, and he kept talking about how he wanted to go back someday. This is the closest location to us, so I took him on a surprise trip on a February Saturday for us to eat here for lunch. They take reservations, which I always appreciate. We both ended up having a lot of fun. The ambiance was pretty cool and I enjoyed experiencing it once. I am not sure I need to experience it again, unless we brought kids with us for them to enjoy. It was pretty overstimulating, as they were blasting pop music, the constant rainforest sounds, and then every 30 minutes there would be a "thunderstorm" and the lights would flicker while all the animals would move around and make noise. We found it entertaining, but I imagine it could be overstimulating for some kids. The food was solidly decent. I had a burger, fries, and a side of coconut shrimp. The shrimp were very good and the burger and fries were decent. My husband got salmon and shrimp and he thought the salmon was okay. We also got a smoothie (amazing) and pink lemonade (good), as well as iced teas. The waiters seemed really busy and running around, and it was hard for us to catch our waiter for iced tea refills. Other than that, he was great. The food was definitely overpriced. I think my favorite part, besides the general dining room experience, was the gift shop. It took a lot of self control not to purchase all the sloth stuffed animals. I might come back just to the gift store for a shopping spree one day. Overall, we would return for the experience if we brought kids or adults who wanted to experience it for the first time (or the first time as an adult!), but we almost certainly wouldn't return otherwise. If the prices dropped significantly, then I'd be more likely to come back if we happened to be in the area. Otherwise, I suppose you're just paying for the experience. Still worth one trip though if you've never been!

Yelp
Rainforest Cafe is a rainforest themed restaurant that specializes in traditional American cuisine. This location can be found right off the boardwalk in Atlantic City. I've been to Rainforest Cafe quite a few times and unfortunately I didn't get that vacation vibe this time around. No one from the staff made an effort to ensure a memorable experience and the food was just mediocre. There was nothing that would make me want to go back. Dine-in, curbside pickup, and delivery are all available. French Fries - 7.4 Coconut Shrimp - 7.4 Sirloin - 7.5 Ribs - 7.7 Food - 7.5 Service - 7.4 Value - 7.4 Restaurant score - 74

Yelp
This place was really nice inside. Aswell as the bathrooms being very clean. I was also seated right away due to the fact it was almost completely empty inside. It took a while for my waiter to come to my table and allow me to order, it took even longer waiting for my food. The eggs came cold, the toast came cold, and they only provided one slice of toast with my meal. The pancakes were really good, but the bacon that came with was very hard it was almost as if my order was sitting in the kitchen for 10 minutes before coming out. I was already done with my meal without even getting my drink yet just to hear they didn't t have any more Orange juice. The music set the vibe well but the noises inside were very loud. Overall the people were nice its just the service that was very slow.

Yelp
Restaurants live and die for all sorts of crazy reasons so I'm not about to unload on the Rainforest Cafe. If you're a kid who thinks cold chicken fingers and fake thunder storms deliver the goods then what can I possibly add to that discussion. As they say it is what it is however, the chain is undergoing some turbulence for reasons completely unrelated to the kitchen. It seems there aren't enough skilled technicians to repair their old and balky animatronics completely ruining your kiddos distraction from the aforementioned lifeless chicken fingers. As they also say, I'm off the hook meaning I'll have to feign disappointment the entire afternoon. Four stars for dodging that bullet. Cue the lightening, cue the thunder.

Yelp
The burger had no extraordinary taste for the ridiculous price. The fries were okay and the fountain alcoholic beverage had too much pineapple. The decor was EXTREMELY dusty I could see the dust falling of in the light beams. There were also zero fish in the tanks which doesn't make sense for the opening of beach season.

Yelp
nooo because why was i so excited my boyfriend and i came in tonight near close- apologized of course, but we did see multiple people get seated after us. our server was kind, and it was my boyfriends first time to rainforest cafe, i'd been once as a kid and so we were both just really excited to experience it. we even spent 45 dollars on those photos they take of you! our food was delicious and we both were so glad until about an hour later. both of us experienced the most severe symptoms of early consent food poisoning you can only imagine what it's like going through that, but add being stuck on the atlantic city boardwalk. just kind of bummed i hope that the cleanliness is not an issue here but as it happened to both my boyfriend and i, im not sure if it was a fluke. just beware!

Yelp
Let me immediately move this right into the never again category. Why? I. We get there about 1pm on a weekday and at the host stand are asked if we have a reservation. After saying no, we're told it would be 30-40 minutes. Looking into the restaurant there is no one inside. While I assume this is something staffing related, it's still a bit off-putting. Magically, after maybe three minutes we get a text that a table is ready for us and the few other people hovering in the gift shop. II. The booth we were seated at was filthy. Sticky table and garbage on the seat. The hostess who seated us had to see but I guess to her it was fine and the server also said nothing about it. Although FWIW, somewhat in their defense the lighting inside is so dark you can't see much. III. The food is simply not good. The Creole Mac and Cheese had no sausage and no chili butter bread crumbs. Just cheese sauce and penne. The Korean Spicy Stir-Fry was anything but spicy. Nice presentation but not much in the flavor department and certainly not spicy. Sure they still do the every half-hour "thunderstorm" but I guess as a pandemic cost cutting move all of the fish that were in the tanks up front are gone. Not that I ever got the appeal of this chain, now that my kids are older they see this place for what it is which is great for my wallet. Style over substance and mediocre grossly overpriced food. Thanks but no thanks.

Yelp
We had a really good time the other day for lunch! We went in mid week and we didn't had to wait to get seated. Service was a little bit slow even though they didn't look like they had a lot of tables but we still had fun. We miss having this restaurant in Connecticut and my kids had lots of great memories. We always used to stop and stared at the crocodile, throwing coins and making wishes, explore the gift shop and enjoy a good meal. My kids are now teenagers and they still had a good time doing the same things! Our lunch was scrumptious and portions were huge! We did the fun cups with projectors and tried the specials!! We got to take those special cups home as a souvenir and lots of leftovers! So much fun hearing the rainforest sounds again! Great ambience!

Yelp
When you walk into a Rainforest Cafe (through the gift shop, first), you know what you're in for: a gimmicky tourist trap with serviceable food and friendly if harried wait staff. I stopped in for dinner after work and got my seat in a quiet(er) part of the dining room. The menu had the same vaguely "tropical" bits that the chain is known for; I kept things simple with a Blue Mountain chicken sandwich (lemon marinaded grilled chicken, bacon, roasted red pepper, swiss) and a Blue Moon. The food was fine. Uninspired, but not bad though definitely overpriced, as is the case with most chains on the Boardwalk

Yelp
We went here for my brothers birthday, it was really nice and the food was okay. I used to love coming here when I was a kid and it's very nostalgic to come back here. Though I remember there was fish in the aquarium but hard times I guess which is alright. The servers were very nice and the manager came and checked on us, he was a little weird but that's okay. They brought out a volcano cake for my brother and he had so much fun. If you're feeling nostalgic you should come eat over here, the shrimp is delicious and after you can just step out and walk on the boardwalk.

Yelp
Came here to celebrate a kids party (20people) reservation was made and everything is set. I dont like that it was feeling rushed and that there is no separate room (but I knew it prior), you can only decorate with balloons but nothing else. Per guests, some foods are good some are so-so. Servings are big. Came hot and fresh. It was a weekend so maybe thats why its rushed and all. I recommend it for a small party with guests not over 6 people. Will come back again but not in a hurry.

Yelp
My family and I were in AC for the weekend and decided to have lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. We had my four year old nephew with us and thought it would be cool for him to experience. We called to make reservations but there wasn't much of a wait that day and the person on the phone said we would be seated immediately. Upon arrival you feel like you're walking in to the rainforest. There are life size mock animals such as gorillas, alligators, the sounds and all of the ambiance created to mimic the rainforest. We walked up to the podium and were seated immediately. The dining area feels like a rainforest, rainbows , water sounds, animals , trees etc. Definitely kid approved. "So cool" in my 4 year old nephews words. The server was nice but he received a party after we were seated and seemed a bit inattentive to us. We kept stopping other staff members to get us things because it was hard to get a hold of our server. I ordered the bbq bacon cheeseburger with a side of fries and a strawberry lemonade to drink. Paid an extra $10 to get the drink in a souvenir cup that lights up. The food was hot, fresh and tasty. Basic menu with burgers, tacos, salads etc .Overall a good experience and I would recommend for family outing especially if you have kids.
