The Eater Dallas Holiday Gift Guide for 2022 - Eater Dallas
"Brandon Friedman and Terrence Kamauf are a pair of Dallas-based veterans who served in Iraq and Afghanistan in the U.S. Army’s 101st Airborne Division — after which Rakkasan is named. The duo sources teas solely from “carefully selected estates in post-conflict countries as a way to promote peace and economic growth.”" - Courtney E. Smith
Veteran-owned and Dallas-based, Rakkasan sources single-origin teas from post‑conflict regions and hosts retail tastings and education. Profiled by Dallas Morning News and praised by locals, it’s a meaningful, community-rooted stop for serious loose‑leaf.
I ordered a black tea sampler set and it shipped quickly. The teas are delicious and have specific steeping instructions, which I appreciate. I’ve made iced tea with a couple varieties using the America’s Test Kitchen method and it was great.
I actually enjoy reading their email newsletter, as it tells the story of each tea’s home country and grower and also offers tasting notes. (How many companies can you say that for?) The people running this really care about their mission of supporting war-torn countries and making sure the tea is responsibly sourced. I wish shipping was free because that’s what I’m used to, but I’m happy to pay for a unique product and support a veteran-owned business.

My son got me a bunch of samples from Rakkasan a few years ago. I've been hooked on their tea ever since. Love the back story of this company and also some of their commercials are absolutely awesome. I've never had a problem with shipping and the tea is awesome. I loved watching this company grow through out the years and I'm happy that I am a small but very tasty part of that. P.S. as I'm writing this I'm drinking some of their Himalayan Spiced Chai. Some of the best Chai that I've ever had.

RTC has a display up here at my work, JP Morgan Chase office. Was surprised to see the name of the company beings how I’m a former RAKKASAN myself that had a lot of chai in Afghanistan while deployed. Awesome business model and awesome tea! Thanks guys

Wonderful tea. I found this company based on fair trade, humane, and delicious tea... it didn't take much to win us over. This is a teaching tea, too. I'm learning a lot and preparation is easily explained.

Bought a white, a green, a black, and Ethiopian mint as well. All 4 types of leaves are in very very good condition, fresh and flavorful. Several intriguing teas and herbs. Bought here a few times now, and there are several nice products.

Amazing tea flavors that you can't find anywhere else. I am partial towards green & blends, but also I like to try new kinds now and then, and so far I haven't had one that I didn't like. I also like the company's mission and knowing where the different teas are sourced. Great service, too - extremely fast, whether shipping or store pickup.

Rakkasan is a great company with a great concept for who they source their tea from. I've been a fan since the Kickstarter they used to launch the company. I buy almost all of my tea through them, with my favorite being the Thousand Hills Green.

Rakkasan Teas have become a staple of my tea collection. Not only is the variety of teas to choose from excellent, CEO Brandon runs a fantastic business. His customer service is second to none. Highly recommend checking out some of their products.
