The Biggest D.C.-Area Restaurant Openings in June 2025 | Eater DC

"A ramen-focused shop offering signature chicken and vegan ramens as well as comforting Japanese dishes like cold sesame noodles, Japanese curry chicken on rice, and tsukemen, complemented by sides such as seaweed salad, edamame, and kimchi; started by chef Hiro Mitsui (with prior stints at local spots) and connected to an existing Union Market stall that handles online orders, the new Georgetown location is currently taking in-person orders only." - Emily Venezky

This is a great little Ramen shop. It’s inside the Grace Street collective with a couple other food and beverage retailers, including South Block. The Ramen was super fresh and piping hot. Service is very friendly and fast. The egg was perfectly cooked, which doesn’t happen that often most places. I will definitely be coming back here for lunchtime Ramen. Highly recommend if you are out and about shopping in the Georgetown area.

I have been enjoying Uzu’s amazing Japanese comfort food for years and I am thrilled they now have a Georgetown location. The food is perfect for hot weather (tsukemen, cold sesame noodles, etc.) or cold weather (miso ramen, curry rice, etc.) and Chef Hiro is just the nicest, most awesome guy. This is definitely a shop worth supporting and eating at!! BIG RECOMMEND! 👏

Google
New go-to ramen place. Good ramen seems to be hard to find recently however the miso ramen from Ramen by UZU was amazing. You can tell there was a lot of thought and care while assembling the bowl which made my meal so much more enjoyable and made my whole day. The atmosphere was welcoming with friendly staff and open seating for eating with friends or dining in alone.

Google
love the food here, Japanese curry ramen is such a comfort food! the spices, the coziness in this bowl, the noodles, everything about it just perfect. i’m eating it on a hot day with a can of coke watching a stray cat outside. just meant to be here at this moment smashing a bowl of UZU ramen!

Best ramen in DC! I have had their ramen at the original location in Union Market and the quality and amazing service is mirrored in its sister location here in Georgetown. Amazing ramen I always get the Shoyu and add the Akakara spice bomb. Extra pork and extra egg if you want to really indulge. I always remember to come hungry and I always leave happy.

First time trying ramen from this spot, and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I work in the area and had been wanting to check it out. I arrived right when they opened, was assisted quickly, and had my order ready within 5-10 minutes. I ordered the shoyu ramen with extra spice and an extra egg. The broth was incredibly rich, and the extra spice really packed a punch without overpowering the flavor – it was delicious. I do hope they expand their menu in the future to include a pork-based broth or tonkotsu ramen. One thing that caught me off guard was the “soft” egg. I absolutely love soft boiled eggs with my ramen and always order an extra, but this one was a bit too runny for my liking. A perfectly soft-boiled egg with a marinade would take their bowls to the next level. Overall, I really enjoyed it and will definitely be back to try their other bowls!

So excited that Ramen by UZU just opened a new location in Georgetown! I’ve been a longtime fan of their original spot at Union Market, and it’s great to see them expanding. My go-to dishes are the vegan miso ramen, cold sesame noodles, and house-made kimchi. I can’t stand soggy noodles, but Ramen By UZU always nails it; the noodles are cooked al dente. The customer service is also consistently excellent. You can tell the staff really care, and it makes a difference. Beyond the food, it feels good to support an immigrant-owned and operated small business that’s been putting out quality food for years.

I’ve been enjoying Ramen by Uzu for years and I’m never disappointed. Miso broth is my fave, but the noodles are the star of the show. Perfectly chewy consistency. Their new location in Georgetown has plenty of seating and amazing artwork. Staff is super friendly. I hope they bring back their steamed buns!

Yelp
This is apparently a second location for a brand that started in Union Market. The vibe was upbeat, and what I take to be the owner was working. They offer a vegan Ramen, and it was something that they clearly take seriously. It delivered a variety of tastes and textures. Notably, there were tofu pockets, stuffed with corn, chilled bok choy, and ample seaweed. The smooth miso broth was a solid base to build on. I read that the owner started off at Toki Underground, and while this place doesn't have the kind of atmosphere, it does have that kind of quality. These food hall type places can of course make the leap to a standalone restaurant when successful, and if this one does I'll be there shortly.

Yelp
Super friendly staff on a Sunday. Came here around 1:30 and the space is shared with other vendors. It's a small menu with about 10 main ramen and rice dishes and ability to add sides. You'll have to find a seat in one of the open seating areas with tables and chairs. Next to the bubble tea place on a hot summer day, there was a ton of traffic to the ramen vendor. The food was good. Had the curry ramen and the noodles were bouncy and chewy. They only serve chicken broth ramen, no pork bone broth. The broth is definitely flavorful. I tend to be a lighter eater so this was definitely much more sodium than my usual... but to those that love flavor. This is very good. The shoyu ramen was also on the salty side but also very tasty.

Yelp
I've been a big fan of Ramen by UZU for a while. It's easily my favorite ramen spot in the DMV. I've been going to their Union Market location for some time, so I'm really excited they've opened a new one near my house. The vibe is great, very friendly and kind staff and the ramen always on point. I'll definitely be coming here regularly!

Yelp
Wow! It was well worth the wait for Ramen by Uzu . . . this second location is in the heart of Georgetown. I ordered several different ramens, but the first that I finished was the Chicken Shio Ramen, and it does not disappoint. The broth was on point, and there were really tasty pieces of meat, while the egg was cooked perfectly, and the ramen's consistency was what you would expect for good Ramen! I will definitely go here again and finally there is an excellent Ramen option in Georgetown. I'm sure this will be a hit among the Georgetown students when August rolls around! Friendly and prompt service. The only thing I would like if the bowls for in-house dining were not plastic. It's okay for delivery or take out, but it would be nice to eating from a traditional ramen bowl.

Yelp
Went to this spot after seeing the chef get interviewed on social media... hearing his story really made me want to check it out. I'm glad I did because the curry ramen hit the spot. I felt very lethargic after but it was well worth it haha. My friend tried their Spicy Vegan and said it was the best Vegan ramen she had ever had... and she's not even Vegan!!!! Definitely coming back to support Chef Hiro and checking out the cold sesame noodles.

Yelp
Great service, even better food! Best ramen i've had in the dmv by far, will be back!
