"Ramen Cowboy feels like the kind of off-the-beaten-path ramen spot you might wander into on a powder-chasing mission to Japan, only to discover the best ramen of your life. The stark simplicity of the space might lead you to think Ramen Cowboy doesn’t take itself too seriously, but one slurp of their housemade noodles (made with locally grown and milled flour) in Tonkotsu broth slow-cooked for 18 hours will rid you of those suspicions. Share a couple items from the “snack” portion of the menu, but save room for the main event: ramen, available with pork, mushrooms, or short ribs. The drink menu is a delight and features a Sake Capri Sun alongside other low-proof cocktail options. For a sweet treat, head next door to Ramen Cowboy’s Sweet Spot, a soft-serve ice cream shop with classic and Japanese flavors (like ube) in crispy mochi taiyaki fish cones. photo credit: Erin Roberts" - Hayden Seder

This ramen place stood out due to its unique recipe and fusion. Dry ramens were flavorful and really good, even incorporated Idaho potatoes. Got to know that the owner traveled to Japan quietly a bit and got some inspiration there. Will definitely come back

Easily the best Ramen I have had in Idaho so far. Ive had a few places in my local area of Idaho Falls and Pocatello, but this location in Ketchum beats all of them. I got the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen and it was very good. The broth was rich, the shoyu egg was marinated and cooked to the perfect yolk consistency for Ramen, the pork chashu was flavorful and had perfect texture, and the noodles were just how I like them. Highly recommend!

I had the best food at Ramen Cowboy! To start, the vibes inside are awesome! Such cute decor. For the food, I ordered the tofu bites, cucumber, and the mushroom ramen. They were all so good and full of flavor! They have vegan and gluten free options which is amazing! I will come back.

Why is there not a line out the door at Cowboy Ramen? This is top-of-the-line ramen, with a subtle outdoorsy twist, right here in the middle of nowhere Idaho! I kept it fairly straightforward with the miso ramen, but a little chili kick kept my palette buzzing with layers of flavor and warmth. The noodles are excellent, with an authentic bite of density. They could use being de-starched a little before being added to the bowl as they were clumpy, but a few stirs and all was good. My only complaint on atmosphere was the really loud "background" music. It really was too in your face for me, and if I would have been there with friends, made conversation challenging. But, small quibble and easily fixable. The main attraction, the ramen, is truly excellent.

I ordered the Short Rib Ramen with black garlic. The meat was so burnt that the entire bowl was black. It tasted like the dirty BBQ grill. I took it back to the restaurant and explained that the soup was not edible. However, i was told that it was supposed to taste that way due to the black garlic and the blackened meat. I have cooked with black garlic and it's really lovely and nice. I've also eaten at restaurants that blacken their food, and it doesn't taste like a dirty barbecue grill. As a result, I have a stomach ache 😫. Stay clear of this restaurant.

Hands down the best mushroom Ramen I’ve ever had. The perfect balance of umami broth, noodles cooked to perfection and creamy egg. Thank you, thank you, thank you for keeping my immune system strong!

Great ramen, counter serve, friendly service. Accommodated our large group. And chef came out to say hi and see how we liked it!

Google
I had the spicy tonkotsu. It was really bad. The chashu was dry. The egg was overly brined and too salty. The tare was not balanced. The noodles were okay. If you have had good ramen before you will not be impressed

Yelp
Visiting Idaho for a ski trip and was excited to stumble upon a ramen shop out here! The cold weather was perfect for a meal of ramen and based on the good reviews, I was excited to give this place a try! We ordered the Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen and Short Rib Ramen. The broths were very flavorful, and the pork belly in the Tonkatsu Ramen was charred very nicely and tender. The short ribs were bone in, which was a surprise, but it was also charred nicely. Both ramens came with a perfectly cooked half soft-boiled egg. Prices are a little higher than average, but seeing as this was the only ramen place in Ketchum, I would say it was well worth it, especially for the quality of food.

Yelp
We've been to Ramen Cowboy three times, so we've tried several of their dishes - all yummy. They've expanded the seating, too! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious food. The late night noodles are my go to, but the wagyu ramen is great to eat in house. Such a cute spot.

Yelp
Delicious! Fresh ingredients with tons of flavor. We loved all 3 of our ramens. They answered all our questions and had our order out quickly. The owner and staff were really friendly and helped us narrow down which ramens to get. The adult capri sun was really fun too!

Yelp
I ordered the tantanmen ramen (spiciest dish on the menu) while my partner ordered the Dan Dan noodles. Dan Dan noodles were good, but the ramen lacked flavor depth. Also, dishes are not as spicy as the number of chilis would imply or that one typically expects in spicy Japanese dishes. The ramen was not spicy enough but they didn't really have a way of making it spicier. I was given a green jalapeño sauce which wouldn't have worked flavor-wise. All in all, glad there was a ramen place here but would suggest bringing your own spice jar if you want traditionally spicy ramen.

Yelp
Our recent trip brought us to the Valley, found this gem and it was simply phenomenal. Food and environment was just great. If you enjoy ramen check this place out.

Yelp
We are up in Ketchum for the annual Sheep Festival and took part in the For Love Of Lamb event. This was one of the stops on the adventure and we actually ended here for a variety of reasons. One, the food sample was simply amazing (and not really a sample because it filled me up!) Two because the owner ended up sitting and talking with us so we learned a ton about her place. The food is excellent because of the chef but also because they pride themselves on using all food from local farmers - supporting neighbors and the local economy. Hats off. This place is well worth your visit. We will definitely make it a stop any time we are in town.

Yelp
Locally sourced and really stellar veg ramen with the mushroom broth. Also the cucumber salad sauce was to die for

Yelp
Had their soft serve. Some of the best we've ever had. All the flavors were exceptional. Can't wait to try the ramen.

Yelp
Ramen Cowboy is an awesome addition to Ketchum! Great Ramen and nice people. This is a small town with limited authentic ethnic eats. It's great to have this so close to home...
