burglary Delays Opening of San Francisco Financial District Restaurant Ramen Hiroshi - Eater SF

"The opening of a new ramen shop in the Financial District is on hold after vandals broke into the space over the weekend and threw an hours-long underground party, the owner of Ramen Hiroshi told KTVU. Co-owner Daniel Bomya says thieves took the restaurant’s surveillance cameras but left behind plenty of evidence, including “garbage bags filled with empty bottles, cans, cigarette butts, and a lingering odor of marijuana,” KTVU reports. Co-owner Aung Khaing told KTVU the partiers also left puke on the restaurant’s second floor, which the owners had to clean up. Since the vandals stole furniture and equipment and left restaurant’s wine storage units empty, the owners say they’ll have to bump out the grand opening, which was supposed to take place on December 10. Ramen Hiroshi currently has three locations around the Bay Area, including the original in Walnut Creek, which made waves with its debut as the city’s first and only ramen shop at the time. The restaurant at 322 Kearny Street will mark the restaurant’s first location to open in San Francisco, bringing its creamy Hakata-style tonkotsu to the city." - Lauren Saria

Google
Honestly a decent Japanese ramen place in sf. The tonkotsu ramen was rich and smooth, the toppings were perfect too. Egg was cold when I first touched it but nothing alittle covering it with broth wouldn’t fix. The place had nice seating but alittle cluttered. Other than that would definitely come again if craving Japanese ramen near that spot! Service was very nice too :)

Google
Place is very nice and welcoming. Server was very friendly and nice. Food was subpar. I had the Hiroshi Ramen and it was so thick I had to add water. it basically was a gravy. Not good. Also had the cucumber salad, tasty but way too salty.

Max

Google
The fried squid legs and salt n pepper wings are fantastic. Ramen is not bad but didn’t particularly stand out. 5 stars for the squid legs, I think about them often.

Google
Good ramen is easy to find. Great ramen is harder. And finding excellent ramen at reasonable prices in downtown San Francisco is a rarity. This is the ideal spot for lunch or dinner and a hot bowl of noodles. The pork was deliciously juicy, the egg was cooked to perfection, and the Tonkotsu broth was very flavorful. Service was quite good and attentive in both the upper and lower levels. Can recommend.

Google
It’s rare to find a ramen spot with multiple chicken broth options, and this place delivers! The ramen was flavorful and satisfying

Google
The omasake grilled veggies were our favorites. The ramen was okay. I got the tonkotsu ramen which had a good overall flavor. The noodles were thinner than other ramen places. My friend got the Yuzu shoyu ramen, which they didn't finish.

Google
Chicken Karaage was a bit over fried but still decent. House ramen was not good. Noodles were really thin, overall not much flavor just super fatty. You start to hate it the second bite.

Google
Great ramen and chicken karaage! The mango cream soda was a nice add on!

Yelp
Been there twice already. It's now my fav go to ramen place in SF! 10/10 My old favorite was Ippudo, been there over 15 times for the Akamaru modern ramen. BUT they recently changed their recipe to keep the cost lower . The chashu turned into just sliced pork. Plating is not as nice. Def not worth $21 per bowl of ramen. Back to ramen hiroshi, taste is comparable to ippudo now lolll and they give you big pieces of chashu! Good for the wallet and the heart. All my friends liked it too. The only con is the restroom downstairs is really not good. Please improve on management.

Yelp
I heard good things about their ramen so I came to try. The restaurant is set up nicely but it did not smell very nice. Ordered their signature, Hiroshi Ramen. It took whopping 25 minutes to serve. Ramen taste good, so is the broth. However, there was a big issue with their serving brass to the proportion of the noodle. There was not enough broth to finish the noodle. When I asked for an extra charged an extra for the broth. Overall, with the long wait to get a bowl of ramen, extra cost for broth, it's not worth coming back.

Yelp
Pretty good ramen although a wee bit on the pricy side. We ordered the tonkatsu and the vegetarian yuzu and the noodles are absolutely top notch. I felt the broth in the yuzu soup was not quite as intensely flavoured as I would have liked but it was still good. Lots of tasty vegetables to help round it out. We came for lunch and the restaurant wasn't busy at all. Service was attentive and fast and we really enjoyed lunch here. We're definitely looking to come back.

Yelp
PSA - the veggie ramen made me violently ill and the meat ramen made my date feel off. There are two veggie ramen options. I ordered one with no egg to make it vegan. It wasnt very good, broth tasted like diluted soy sauce. I barely made it home before getting violently ill. My date, who ordered a meat ramen, didn't get sick like I did but they felt nauseous immediately. Wont be back and don't recommend. Our date ended very early and abruptly due to ramen induced illness. Boooooo!

Yelp
We were looking for a Raman spot in downtown and came across this Ramen place has been on our list to try. I wish I can say that it was great, but unfortunately, the Ramen felt short. The broth was extremely salty, and thankfully the waiter was able to get me a new bowl with less salty, the pork bone broth did not really taste flavorful, it taste more like soy sauce. It took a long time for us to get water and we had to ask multiple times to get refill of water because the broth was just too salty. The noodles were generous portion, but the flavors just fell short. Place is cute overall nice and spacious.

Yelp
I took my kid on an SF adventure tour just before the new school year started. We took the ferry into the city, the tram to to pier 39 (the sea lions are still there) and then cable car to Chinatown. After quite a lot of walking, the hunger came quickly and since I can always get her with a bowl of soup, we took a break at Ramen Hiroshi. What a treat!!! Have you ever heard a 4 year old sigh and moan over a bowl of soup? I have now. People around us were a bit bemused, but she was so into slurping and tasting, she didn't care. And I was such a proud mama! Stop by for a nice lunch and taste their absolutely amazing ramen! We also sampled some edamame and gyoza. Stellar!

Yelp
Pretty solid ramen place! Their egg was perfectly jammy on the inside which is the type of ramen egg I love. Their tan tan ramen broth is tasty and I enjoyed the thicker noodles in it. My boyfriend got the tonkotsu broth and it was also a good pick. The Hanetsuki gyoza looked so cool as I loved the crispy bottom they had on it. The gyoza was yummy! I was craving a more authentic gyoza and this place had it! The server was kind and the restaurant had a cute set up. It was a nice place to have a date with my boyfriend.
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh and delicious! I also ordered steamed gyouza which were a perfect side. Friendly staff, what more can you ask for!

Yelp
I've had a lot of ramen in my day and when I say that this was the worst, most tasteless ramen I've ever had in my life, I'm not exaggerating. Stay away from here. It was $60 spent on a lunch that was so bad we needed ice cream afterwards to wipe away the taste in our mouths.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for ramen. Has nice seating in the back. I had the chicken yuzu ramen with curly noodles. It was a good portion for the size and value. The takoyaki was good as well. I liked the yuzu sake it reminded me a bit of mike's hard lemonade.
google avatar

Yelp
If I'll be really honest...I just kind of wolfed down my ramen because I was really hungry and was on a time crunch. I didn't really savor the flavors. All my head was telling me to do was just EAT EAT EAT. So uh, read this review keeping in mind that a girl who was starving and rushing wrote it. Got the miso chicken ramen -- wasn't heavy, liked the amount of veggies, egg was a good amount of gooey, noodles had a nice firmness, and chicken "chashu" was interesting. Wasn't busy, so service was decent. Nice, quiet spot, but I can see this place getting busy during lunch rush since there are a couple offices nearby.

Yelp
We were excited to try Ramen Hiroshi based on the reviews, but we were ultimately quite disappointed by our visit this past Friday. The food we were served did not match the photos on the menu or online. The meals described on the menu sound great - but what was plated up skimped on toppings significantly and we felt like we should have just revisited one of the other good options in this neighborhood. The broth in my ramen was delicious, and the noodles are pretty good, although not up there with the best places in town. You get a much higher noodle to vegetable ratio than you'd expect from the menu, and it seems like they are cutting back the more premium ingredients to save on costs. My partner got the vegetarian ramen and was really underwhelmed by the broth. Really dominant pepper flavor and not much depth. Mine had very tasty broth and the miso flavor was great, but, there was no corn at all (despite being mentioned and pictured in the menu) and there was very little cabbage. This item is differentiated from the others because of the vegetables and the miso, so it felt like about half the reason I ordered it was absent. The picture on the menu showed heaps of cabbage and corn, and my bowl only had a small scattering of cabbage. The eggs are also not soft boiled / runny as described on the menu. Both my partner and I got eggs that were completely firm through the center and her yolk was bordered by solid yellow chalky hard-boiled egg yolk. I expect the egg can set a bit in the hot broth but this seemed like the restaurant is just overcooking them. You can see from other photos on Yelp that this is typical for this restaurant. Please do not advertise a runny soft-boiled egg on your menu if the kitchen has been instructed to cook them all until they're nearly hard-boiled! I can understand having a different recipe but misrepresenting the food on the menu is not cool. Slurping up that jammy egg with a spoonful of hot broth is usually my favorite part of a bowl of ramen so it was double disappointing to get half an egg, and an overcooked one. I'd agree with the other reviewers that the chashu here is good, but I also only got about a piece and a half of it - my second piece seemed to have been torn in half at some point before it reached the bowl. And honestly any place that can stay open in SF will have at least decent pork and noodles, which is all I can credit our meal for. Service was okay, but we waited a while to order, and then waited a while to pay. I wouldn't have minded if the meal had been better. I am frankly surprised at the number of highly positive reviews, and I wouldn't expect Friday at dinner time to be an off day. I agree with the other users who have rated this place in the 2-3 star range. I was going to rate this a 3 but after reflecting on the meal and remembering the abhorrent state of the restroom I think a 2 is fair. Ultimately I cannot expect we would come back here and would not recommend this place to anyone when SF is a city with outstanding ramen restaurants in every neighborhood. There's just better choices available. For me a bowl of ramen is the ultimate big comfort food meal, a heap of noodles and vegetables and a rich broth with that jammy egg. The noodles and the broth here are good, but we felt short-changed by the rest. And here in SF, there's no point in paying for that. As far as the space, the dining area was nondescript and simple, with a nice view of the kitchen. But the bathroom was disgusting, and in a "not cleaned often" way, not a "messed up by one person" way. The lack of attention to cleanliness in the restroom tracked with the lack of care with the food and makes me concerned about the cleanliness of the prep area.

Yelp
Signature tonkotsu ramen noodle served with skinny straight noodles Al dente. Broth was good not memorable Service is almost self service Chili powder was on the shelf and not on the table. Not sure why. Ambiance - not much going on. Belden alley on one side and Kearny Street on the other side. Looks like they have beer and sake

Yelp
Ramen Hiroshi is a must-visit for ramen lovers! As soon as you walk in, you're greeted by the cozy ambiance that feels like a hidden gem. Their ramen bowls are rich, savory, and full of authentic flavor, with perfectly cooked noodles and tender meats. Each bowl is crafted with care, and the broth is simply incredible -- warming and comforting. The staff are attentive and friendly, making sure you feel right at home. A top spot for a satisfying meal on a chilly San Francisco day!

Yelp
Food: 4/5 Service: 5/5 Ambiance: 5/5 VIBE: - we went for happy hour, it's until 6pm and beer/wine/select alcohol is 50% off, vibes were stellar - fast service FOOD: - Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen (5/5)! This is my favorite tonkotsu ramen in the bay - Yuzu Vegeterian Ramen (2/5) not the most savory broth, a bit bitter, strongly prefer the shoyu vegetarian ramen

Yelp
This is the second time coming in for lunch. The food choices are great and the ramen is very tasty . Broth is great. Service was good and for a late lunch at 245 in the afternoon, there were several others enjoying their meal. Ambiance is clean and modern. Wished I could try their menu on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5 to 9 pm.

Yelp
This is place probably made it to my top three ramen places. The Hiroshi Tonkatsu was thickkkk. Like holy cow it was so dense and perfectly flavored. The pork was soft, and my god the red ginger was such a subtle but nice touch. Everything came out looking beautifully plated too and quick. Came during lunch as well and thoroughly enjoyed it. Highly recommend on a cold, windy, SF day.

Yelp
Visited for lunch earlier this afternoon. Prime time lunch hour and the kitchen needs help badly. I was seated on a stool looking out the window to Kearny street. I ordered quickly, the Tantanmen Spicy ramen. And I waited..waited..waited some more. I looked around at the 5-6 tables and nobody had their ramen halfway through my wait. Some people at least had their appetizers. I was not sure what was going on in the kitchen, I do see them working but maybe they need more people. I waited 30 mins for my ramen to arrive which is the longest wait out of any ramen shop I have ever been to!! Ramen usually is super quick to come out. The tantanmen ramen broth was full of flavor, good noodle texture. I swapped out the ground pork with Chasu instead which I liked. Chasu was not fat, soft and falls apart. It stated "spicy" twice on the menu. It was more like mild spicy, I think anyone can handle this level of spice. What shocked me was the toppings were cold and only middle of the broth was hot. Slow service, everything was delayed and cold. Although, I hit the rush hour for lunch, I hope their wait times improve other times of the day.

Yelp
I came here for a quick lunch after running errands. I didn't realize how big this place is until I stepped inside. It was chilly and rainy so I had to get a bowl of ramen. I ordered Yuzu Vegetarian ramen, it came with bamboo shoots, scallions, mushrooms and some greens and an egg. The yuzu broth was not only citrusy but had a kick to it which was a pleasant surprise. Noodles were cooked just right and it hit the spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Went here on Memorial Day, it was pretty quiet so we got seated quickly and we're able to hang out here for a while. Ordered the yuzu ramen and gyoza. The gyoza was quite dry and the wrapper was thick. I enjoyed all the toppings in the ramen, but wished the broth had a bit more umami flavor to balance the dish out.

Yelp
Pretty lively ambiance ramen shop if you're going all the way to the back and sit by the glass wall that separating this ramen shop with the restaurants at Belden Alley. It's like either at foreign cinema and watching romantic movie while dining or you're at coney island in New York and competing for eating with the likes of Joey Chesnut and Takeru Kobayashi next to you at cafe tiramisu. It's pretty happening. Now the food: I've had the mizuna salad and Hiroshi tonkotsu ramen. mizuna salad was just like average arugula salad where you can get from anywhere else or trader joe's. Nothing else to add here. Hiroshi tonkotsu ramen the original was rich, creamy, oily (in a good way). the noodles were springy and perfectly firm (I'm not sure if they get their noodles from Sun Noodles, but it's pretty comparable in term of quality). Pork cha siu was little bit too fatty but other than that, it was eight out of ten.
google avatar

Tessa D.

Yelp
I personally love Ramen Hiroshi. I go here very frequently I always get the Tonkatsu ramen. It is very flavorful and not watered down or oily. The chicken Karaage is very moist, crunchy, and flavorful. The service is very quick and fast especially the takeout. The ambiance of this restaurant is very basic they have a "downstairs" sort of thing facing different restaurants. This location is very accessible because it is in downtown, except there is not a lot of parking.

Yelp
I recently had lunch at Ramen Hiroshi and tried their signature dish, the "Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen." It was fantastic! The broth was rich and flavorful, with just the right creaminess. The noodles were perfectly cooked, and the toppings added a nice balance of textures and flavors. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service made the experience even better. If you're a ramen fan, Ramen Hiroshi is worth a visit.

Yelp
Came here for lunch. I ordered chicken karage and the Hiroshi tonkotsu ramen. The seating area downstairs is nice and has a cool view. Food came out decently fast considering it was lunch hour. The karaage was crispy and tender on the inside and the sauce paired with it was seasoned nicely. I wish they gave a tiny bit more sauce but overall fantastic. The ramen was the real winner. The broth (dashi) was very flavorful and on the thicker side. Noodles were thin (usui). The pork chashu was a highlight. It almost melted in my mouth and was super tasty. Overall really great! They have some special menu that's only available on Thursdays/friday/Saturday night that looks pretty interesting and I'd like to try it

Erica H.

Yelp
We were excited about this place because they've got vegetarian ramen, the food and service are both pretty good, especially the lotus chips are really special and crispy, the only reason I am giving this place 4 stars is the ramen takes too long to come, around 40 mins and the appetizer came even after I finished the ramen. So I guess not to come here if you are in a hurry and thinking ramen is a fast meal.
google avatar

Margarita G.

Yelp
We have never tried ramen- always wanted too. Entire staff was extremely gracious making recommendations on ramen and sake - patient and allowed us to linger and enjoy on a busy Saturday. Will be back!

Yelp
I was disappointed when Ramen Underground closed down, and I have been searching for a new go-to ramen spot in downtown San Francisco ever since. Luckily, I think I have finally found it with Ramen Hiroshi! This place definitely fills the void left by Ramen Underground, They also have lots of different types of ramen Including Yuzu, Tantanmen, and vegetarian ramen if that's your thing. They have Yakitori as well. Big fan of their Yuzu ramen!
google avatar

Mike L.

Yelp
I don't know if I'm losing my touch or if there are just so many ramen joints out there these days (let's go with the latter, since that's good in multiple ways), but I reluctantly have to admit - I hadn't even heard of Ramen Hiroshi until stumbling upon them on Yelp. Which is kind of crazy, considering how this is their fourth location (Walnut Creek, San Ramon, and Alameda are the others). Clearly, they're doing something right...and that I don't get out to the East Bay nearly often enough. But at least that's still a better excuse than me losing my touch! Cuz that's definitely not the case...right? Now, even though I knew nothing about Ramen Hiroshi, it didn't take long to realize their appeal after scouring through their photos and menu. I mean, it'd be tough not to get excited after seeing all that they have to offer - a dozen varieties of ramen featuring different styles and broths, a huge slate of starters, salads, and even a bunch of yakitori skewers. Honestly, so many things caught my eye, I immediately regretted not coming here with more people to try more things! Which, in turn, also explains why I made it a point to come back before writing this! -- CHICKEN KARAAGE - Hiroshi's Famous Fried Chicken Pieces...$10 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ramen-hiroshi-san-francisco?select=PRw1SotnjE45nmo7zAcbYA) Oh the potential! On the plus side, the chicken was moist and the batter was thin and crispy. That said, the taste needed a bit more seasoning or a glaze to give it some punch, as opposed to the modest dollop of kewpie mayo. -- HIROSHI TONKOTSU RAMEN - Signature Hakata Style "Tonkotsu" Ramen with Braised Berkshire Pork Belly Slices, Marinated Soft-Boiled Egg, Lotus Root, Black Mushrooms, Bamboo Shoots, Green Onions, and Pickled Red Ginger with Thin Straight Noodles...$17 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ramen-hiroshi-san-francisco?select=tm2nQmU9xJoO3kyCJZYlGA) Thankfully, their namesake ramen didn't disappoint! Most of the ingredients were fine, and I liked the noodles, but the pork belly and the broth were so good! The slices of pork were thick yet juicy and the broth was rich and flavorful. -- IKA GESO AGE - Fried Squid Legs...$10 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ramen-hiroshi-san-francisco?select=eN5JwoYlwF8RVrNeAJqfMA) Very similar to the karaage, in more ways than one. The pieces of squid were all really meaty, and the batter was also thin and crispy, but this needed a bit more seasoning as well (though, this dipping aioli was much better). -- TANTANMEN - Creamy Sesame-Soy Milk Based Tonkotsu Broth with Curly Noodles, Spicy Ground Pork, Marinated Soft-Boiled Egg, Lotus Root, Bamboo Shoots, Black Mushrooms, Bok Choy, Bean Sprouts, and Green Onions...$18 (https://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/ramen-hiroshi-san-francisco?select=gmhi7pmmIJxeM3TJjhrNbw) A little underwhelming compared to their tonkotsu ramen. The ground pork was great (I liked the touch of spice), but everything else was just "okay". For me, the thickness of the broth, while tasty, made this feel super heavy to eat. While the food was pretty decent for the most part, the thing I like most about Ramen Hiroshi is just how convenient it is. Granted, both of my meals were at night, so I can't say if the same applies during the day, but I've always been able to park right in front and have never had a problem getting a table (there's some seating up front, but plenty more in the back). What's more, the vibe is so chill - the workers are friendly and attentive (yet not intrusive), the food comes out timely, and there's no rush to finish and leave. Given how there aren't a ton of eateries open for a late-ish dinner in this part of downtown, I'm sure I'll be back at Ramen Hiroshi again. I may have plenty of ramen joints in SF on my list of places to try, but it's nice to know there's a solid option around here for something hot and soup, especially now that Ramen Underground is gone. Plus, I wouldn't mind coming back to check out the chicken ramen options, as well as the yakitori and Kushiyaki options!

Yelp
Perfect place to dip into during JP Morgan. It was nearly empty when we arrived but had filled up with banker and Pharma types by the time our order came. Staff was friendly and service was efficient. The yuzu sake was a delicious accompaniment to the dumplings and fried chicken karaage. Casual atmosphere, I'd like to come back and try it for lunch.

Yelp
TLDR: Weak on every level. Pass. Sunday 9/10/23 ~12:20pm, $20.46 after tip Seated immediately, 2:29 menu-to-order, 10:15 order-to-bowl ~~~~~~~~~ Yuzu Chicken Ramen ~~~~~~~~~ Final Score: 3.72/10 (4.4/10) Noodles: Sadly, the strongest component of the bowl. These average-thickness, wavy, egg-noodles were cooked well and maintained a pretty good bite/mouth-feel. The noodles themselves lacked any real flavor. Better than instant ramen noodles, baseline for a ramen-specific shop. (4.3/10) Broth: Disappointing from a standard chicken-base standpoint + a complete miss with the Yuzu element. The base-broth had a detectable chicken flavor; true to form, but the broth seemed generally bland/under seasoned. The citrus-yuzu flavoring seemed out of place. It's a tricky balance to nail, but, ultimately, it tasted like slightly-sour, off-tasting chicken broth. Places like Taishoken pull the Yuzu add-in flawlessly. This place, not so much. (2.2/10) Egg: Overcooked. Bland. Disappointing. No (detectable) marinade flavoring. Yolk was completely solid. (3.5/10) Meat: Chicken "Chashu". Three thick-cut rolled chicken, rolled into a chashu form-factor. The actual shape of the meat was really interesting and could have been mistaken for a roll of pork belly. The dark meat chicken was tender, with a little-to-high fat/meat ratio. Unfortunately, the flavor was lacking. Weak marinade and generally under seasoned meat. I never feel like a ramen bowl (or its components) should require extra salt, but this was bland. (3.1/0) Misc Toppings: Every additional topping; bok choy, bean sprouts, fish cakes, bamboo shoots, were all filler. Nothing had additional preparation to enhance the flavor. The bok choy wasn't seasoned (a common theme). (3.8/10) Other: Weak at every level. One of the biggest discrepancies between presentation (a very pretty bowl) and underwhelming flavor. I can see why the restaurant was empty at lunch time. *Weighted Scoring Formula: Noodles (25%), Broth (25%), Egg (15%), Meat (15%), Misc Top. (10%), Other (10%) Other: Parking: Tough downtown SF parking. Okay on a Sunday. Not worth the effort otherwise. Service: Empty restaurant. Fast, efficient, fine. Bathrooms: N/A

Yelp
We stopped in on our first night in San Fransisco and the waiter was very kind and welcoming even tho we walked in ten minutes prior to close (sorry! We didn't know!!). I ordered the Yuzu Ramen and it was sooo gooood!! The peppery spice was nicely complimented by the citrus yuzu flavor and the broth was very flavorful and complex without being super fatty. I loved the crinkly noodles it came with, the charshu was tender and flavorful, and the toppings fresh. They do a yakitori special menu on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday evenings so we may have to drop by again before our trip ends!!

Yelp
Overall the taste of the ramen and broth is good. The noodle is thin and Q. Just the Takoyaki is a bit on the smaller side.

Yelp
I really, really like their signature Ramen bowl. It was fantastic! I'd fly back 3k miles to eat it again. Staff average. Location average. Ambiance average.

Yelp
Dope little spot in the heart of Downtown. Came here to meet up with some friends after a Giants day game on a Saturday and it hit the spot! The way I judge a ramen joint is on the texture of the noodles, the richness of the tonkotsu soup, perfectly soft boiled egg and the chicken karaage. Ramen Hiroshi hits all these points with perfectly bouncy noodles, rich soup, perfect egg, and authentic karaage. I didn't get to try the yakitori, but that is definitely on the list for next time! Food: 4.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambiance 4.5/5 Overall: 4.3/5

Yelp
We got the Tonkotsu ramen with gyoza and chicken karaage. The broth was very flavorful and chashu was cooked perfectly. The ramen portion is big. Nice staff and clean restaurant!

Yelp
I got the Hiroshi Tonkatsu Ramen, their first dish on their menu. I liked it! It came with pork bone broth, pork, soft boiled egg, lotus root, black mushroom, bamboo shoot, red ginger, and thin noodles. The broth was very flavorful! Came with a good amount of noodles. Ambiance is nice for lunch or dinner and service was friendly.

Love hakata ramen and find it somewhat rare in SF. Hiroshi has hakata style and it is delicious! Looks like a small shop from the outside but the restaurant goes surprisingly deep. Not too busy when I came, as opposed to most of the ramen shops in Japantown. I'd consider this one of the best ramen shops in the FiDi area of San Francisco.

Yelp
Not going to lie - I was not expecting much from this ramen restaurant. SF isn't really known for ramen. But as a ramen connoisseur, I'll try all the ramen. I was not disappointed. Our table got a number of skewers and shared two different ramens: the tonkotsu ramen and the yuzu ramen. The tonkotsu ramen was not too salty and the noodles were very chewy. The yuzu ramen was really good - the yuzu flavor is prominent but did not compliment the chicken broth as well as Afuri's. Good try though! My favorite yakitoris were the chicken gizzard and skin, and the beef tongue. We also got the duck and the chicken heart - both were okay.

Yelp
Slightly under $25 after tax and tips for just 1 bowl of ramen with no add-ons. I think the place was a little overhyped. The noodles didn't much flavor and I think the soup is on the lighter side in terms of flavors

Yelp
Came for an early dinner and ordered the Hiroshi Tonkatsu and takoyaki. Loved everything there! Waitress was friendly and food was served fast

Yelp
Been walking by the Coming Soon sign for way too long, so was quite excited to see they were finally opening. A decent amount of people, but not super crowded, at lunchtime. Maybe it's because they're new or maybe it's because people are just starting to return to the offices in the FiDi. Either way, it was great indulgent lunch compared to a boring sandwich or salad that is all too common in the neighborhood. Hanetsuki Gyouza: This is really fun to look at and to eat. It's like normal potstickers, but with a light browned bit of lattice connecting them all. It's so thin it barely has much taste, but the wispy crispy texture is nice against the doughy dumplings. And the gyoza themselves were plump and meaty pairing nicely with the vinegar, soy, chili sauce. Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen: Really liked the roast pork in this. Thick and tender with nice charred/grilled bits. Sometimes ramen places just call in the pork with a few thin bland slices. Lots of nice thinly sliced veggies and pickled things in the soup too, so felt kinda healthy. The broth was decent. It looked quite cloudy as tonkotsu should, but was missing some of the richness and complexity I've had elsewhere (e.g. Mensho, Ippudo). Still up there though. The noodles were thin and tender, generally pairing well with the soup. Though I would have enjoyed them a notch firmer / al dente.

Yelp
The shoyu ramen was really good, but a bit salty (the style of ramen maybe). The pork was super juicy and tender! Perfect! The hanetsuki gyoza were really tasty! Nice, light batter! Great service too!

Yelp
Excellent ramen spot with a cool interior off Kearny. Quality of the chasu was superb as well as the broth! This was a busy night due to the Bastille day celebrations off Belden Pl but the staff did their absolute best and apologized for delays/inconvenience even though they were all working super hard to service everyone. Really loved their karaage and takoyaki as well - I think any decent Japanese place needs to have these dialed down! Also, solid deal for $7-8 dollars for the large house hot sake. Thanks for the great meal.

Yelp
The ramen was so good ! Order the gyzo dumplings , they are excellent ! When it says an item is spicy , believe the description.

Yelp
Stopped by here on a Saturday afternoon. This is a ramen place that makes their own inhouse noodles! I got the tonkatsu ramen which has the straight style ramen noodles. Great noodles, rich savory and flavorful broth, tender slices of well cooked pork, perfect soft boiled egg and nice medley of garnishes. One of my kids got the shio ramen and other got the kurobuta sausage and chicken karaage appetizers. Overall a very good ramen joint! My only nitpick was is their ramen could have been served hotter.

Yelp
4.5 stars. Welcome to San Francisco! Service was a bit slow but servers were super nice and friendly. But since it's fairly new and lunch rush hour, I understand. They have both pork and chicken broth to choose from which is awesome. Americans love tonkastu more but in Japan, chicken is more popular. Since I'm American, ha, I ordered the Hiroshi Tonkotsu Ramen. Comes with two thick slice of pork belly and half egg. Normally you don't see lotus root in the ramen but they do here and it's such a nice touch. Well I think so. The broth was tasty and the noodles were good. I do wish it was less done. I like my noodles more firm. But everyone's has their own preference. I also ordered the Nankotsu Karage (Fried Chicken Cartilage) and it's yummy. Not over fried and not over or under season. Perfect. I can't wait to come back and try everything else.

Yelp
Authentic flavors with japanese ingredients. They have a few locations all similar. Great selection of chicken parts for izakaya skewers. You can never go wrong with heart or liver seasoned well with japanese sauce. The tonkatsu ramen was on point with fair amount of veggies and slices of pork. Service was friendly and accommodating.
