"Need a steamy bowl of noodle soup after a chilly, wind-filled walk on the Highline? Ramen Ishida, a spot we love for their shoyu ramen, has a second location in partnership with Kosaka. The new spot has 35 more seats than the original, and a slightly bigger menu of izakaya bites, like takoyaki and karaage rice bowls. As someone who has traveled to Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Nara and other places in Japan, 🇯🇵 when you go in to Ishida ramen 🍜 in Chelsea , just close the door 🚪 behind you, and you are in Japan 🇯🇵 before even I mention the food, The Restaurant is beautiful, so impressive by the elegant, noble Japanese art that it takes your breath away. I took pictures 😃 so the bar is high and the Ramen is Up to the challenge. It is one the most beautiful, colorful Ramen I ever had. Spicy Mushroom Pork Ramen - Porcini, Morels, White Mushroom, Shiitake, Enoki, Shimeji Sesame, Onion, Konbu Noodles: Thick Flour Noodles Topping: Pork, Bok Choi, egg. The combination of the mushroom 🍄 and pork is sophisticated and noble as the restaurant. Deep flavors and very balanced, I truly think that this is one of the best Ramen 🍜 I ever had after more than 200 Ramen places I have been around the world. I took pork gyoza to start with, and it was gentle and good. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable, and the all experience is like a noble Japanese work of art 🖼️

We really enjoyed the ramen at Ramen Ishida! The soup and noodle are definitely different than most ramen shops... soup is nicely flavored and doesn't make you feel so thirsty afterwards. Restaurant is cute and service was good.

Google
The most elegant ramen I have had so far. Perfect combination and balance of flavors. I had the New Tokyo with truffle, it’s mind blowing! The restaurant is minimalistic with beautiful art pieces among Japanese ceramics by Shino Takeda. Very clean and sophisticated.

Google
I have no idea who Mr. Ishida is but his ramen creations are mindblowing. Let me first get over the atmosphere and interior. Unlike your traditional ramen-ya setting, it is a modern, clean, look & feel. Almost too airy for you to expect great ramen here. But boy was I wrong. Once you have the first taste of anything, you start to understand that the interior is just a facade and you can truly take the culinary journey. So when you go for a $22 bowl of ramen, a lot goes through your mind. Why must it cost that much. I had the Tokyo Shoyu (the first one). How can I say this... the ramen broth is both complex and yet sophisticated. The chef balances a gentle truffle scent with a single shio leaf. The broth is clean but absolutely has depth. The ramen noodles were a bit unique - felt more like a somen - not your chewy squiggly type. But that's okay. It made sense with everything in the bowl. The traditional half-boiled egg was to perfection. This bowl of ramen made me so happy, that I simply couldn't put a pulse on the hieritage of this restaurant. Where did Mr. Ishida come from? This bowl of ramen isn't just your everyday ramen. It has history. It has a story to tell. The other side dishes were also quite phenomenal. The pork gyoza came in a wonton soup style bowl - a bit salty and mildly spicy. Everything fitting well together. And the crab cream croquette was also heavenly, although a bit bland. I would recommend infusing a bit more crab meat into it. But again, the croquette was fried to perfection. It is seldom that you get such caliber of creation at a brand new looking restaurant. But Ishida is just that. Will absolutely return.

Google
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved the New Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen with Truffle! The broth is rich and flavorful, and the truffle aroma is just incredible. The default toppings—chashu pork, chicken breast, bamboo shoots, shiso, soft-boiled egg, and truffle paste—are all perfectly balanced and delicious. I used to visit the original Ramen Ishida in Lower Manhattan, so I was really excited when they opened a Chelsea location. It’s super convenient, located right across from Chelsea Market and the Google building. The restaurant is spacious and spotlessly clean since it just opened. There’s also a great variety of ramen and appetizers to choose from. I finished off with a matcha latte and dessert, and everything was excellent. If you’re looking for authentic Japanese ramen in NYC, this place is a must-visit. The truffle ramen is something you can’t even find easily in Japan—truly a special experience.

Google
I ordered the New Tokyo Style Shōyu Ramen. It’s very great!, truffle paste in the soup smells very nice and chashu pork is so good. Matcha latte (whole milk) is very tasty, creamy and nutty. Must try!!

Google
Amazing ramen, the staff really friendly, the portions of the pork and chicken was a little small but the presentation and the flavor was wonderful, good place to visit calm and relaxed space for a nice dinner or lunch

Google
Glass of sake is literally a sip in a small cup. This is such a joke. I never seen this kind of small glass of sake anywhere else in NY or Japan. They still try to charge me $10 for a sip. The service was cold, and non-existent. Ramen was ok to good. I do not recommend this place because of poor services and a ridiculous small portion of sake sip, which they call this a glass. When I was writing this review, a waitress looked over my shoulder, and questioning my review content. It was a quite, rude unprofessional behavior.

Yelp
Broth of shoyu ramen was the best one I've tried! Well balanced with toppings. I had extra chashu topping, just melt in mouth!

Albert R.

Yelp
I stopped by Ramen Ishida in Chelsea and was pleasantly surprised! The shoyu ramen was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced -- the broth had a deep umami taste without being too salty, and the noodles had great texture. They also offer set menus that include app, ramen and a drink -- really good value for money, especially in this area. Bonus: they have a happy hour, which makes it an even better deal if you're around during that time.

Izzy L.

Yelp
The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were very friendly. I loved the unique individual booths that let you focus entirely on the ramen.

Yelp
i was craving ramen after recently returning from tokyo so decided to drop in and all i can say is WOW!!!! it was pretty busy for a friday night, but staff was attentive and we got seated fairly quickly. i had the new tokyo style shoyu and i think i might have found my favorite bowl of ramen in nyc! the truffle flavor is very well balanced, not overpowering like you'd find at many other places. noodles were delicious and had the perfect bouncy texture. so excited to finally have a good ramen spot in the neighborhood. i can't wait to come back to try the rest of the menu.

Yelp
I ordered ramen from this restaurant on uber eats and paid $27 not including tip and the food was delivered wide open with an opened bag and unsealed food container. This is a food safety issue and very unsanitary. I called the restaurant and spoke to manager and they said there was nothing that they could do. Uber still has not refunded me. Shame on you for not stapling shut food delivery bags and sealing containers.

Yelp
Solid ramen, and very nice interior! For me, the atmosphere is as important to the experience as the food quality. The decor and lighting inside the restaurant are beautiful. I ordered a bowl of the New Style Tokyo Shoyu Ramen, which was extremely savory. Lots of interesting flavors, including truffle oil.

Yelp
Went with a friend who's been to both the original location and the Chelsea spot and recommended the Chelsea spot since there was less of a wait and more space inside. That turned out to be true as we got there a bit after 6 on a Wednesday with no wait at all and the restaurant was pretty spacious and had a nice layout. I got the takoyaki, New Tokyo Style Shoyu, and black sesame mochi ice cream. The Takoyaki and mochi ice cream were fairly standard, but nonetheless good. The ramen itself had a really nice shoyu broth which is probably in the upper tier of ramen broths I've had. The noodles were also really good, and the egg was perfectly cooked. The only issue I had with the dish was that the chicken was a pretty small portion (although it was nice and tender) and while the chashu had a very nice grilled smoky flavor it wasn't as tender as I would have liked. Still would definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
The original Ramen Ishida in LES was great. The Chelsea location is just as good and the ramen is still delicious. The venue is more spacious and newly renovated. Service is impeccable.

Yelp
I was initially aiming for the Classic Shio Ramen while counting on my daughter to order the Tokyo Shoyu Ramen. But surprisingly, she wanted to try the Spicy Miso Ramen, so I moved to plan b: Tokyo Shoyu Ramen and boy it was fah, fah-fah-fah...fire! I really do prefer my ramen to be more mellow but savory, more finesse than loud. Tokyo Shoyu was just that. The perilla leaf would caress your taste buds. I think it's even harder to execute a simpler ramen with a well balanced taste. My daughter loved her spicy miso which normally I would try, but I was so satisfied with mine, I didn't need another. Staff was attentive and the restaurant was giving a Zen-like atmosphere: calm and clean. I liked that.

Yelp
Cuisine: 7 Service: 7 Decor: 6 Value: 5 Overall: 6 When did ramen become $20 a bowl? Well, I guess it was inevitable due to inflation and rising cost of ingredients. All I ask for is a meal that makes me satisfied like it once did. Unfortunately, that's not how I felt about my experience here yesterday. Honestly, the noodles and broth were fine, better than average imho. However, what is wrong with the toppings? So minuscule that it doesn't feel like a full meal. The Classic Shio came with two tiny pieces of chicken breast, half an egg, some bamboo, scallions and a sheet of seaweed. That's it! New Tokyo Style Shoyu just swaps out a piece of chicken for equally puny piece of chashu pork. What is up with that? I remembered the days when I go to old school ramen shops that has three fat pieces of chashu, a whole egg, bamboo, scallions, corn, and 2-3 sheets of seaweed. Not to mention more noodles and soup. All I'm saying is go ahead and raise the prices because I get it, the economy dictates the increase. However, please don't shrink my food at the same time. This makes me sad.

Yelp
Due to our favorite ramen spot closed on Sundays, a quick search landed us here. Their web-site, RESY or OpenTable did not offer reservations for Ramen Ishida. So we were a little worried about showing up around 1pm on a Sunday. We did manage to score a table right away. Had we waited, we might have missed out; due to the scene loading. The whole staff was very friendly and the decor was pleasing to the eye. One New Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen and one Umami Miso Ramen. Easy !! Usually when we eat half of a ramen and switch. One of us wants their original order back. But this was not the case. Both bowls were perfect size, perfect ingredient ratio, and excellent flavors. After devouring every last drop, we were still hungry. Karaage app came to us, still sizzling and didn't last long. We spilt a Mochi dessert and we were on our way. Definitely adding this to our ramen rotation.

Yelp
I passed by this location a few times and decided to stop by. I love ramen and the cold weather was a perfect excuse to pop in for a yummy bowl of noodles. The ramen was delicious, super flavorful, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. The broth was everything. I ordered the pork buns which were pillowy and tasty. I ended up ordering a separate order to go because they were that good. I had the coffee mochi dessert with was also delish and a green unsweetened tea. Service was great, attentive, and welcoming. The space is really nice & open. I love the individual seating alongside side the bar area. I arrived around 2pm which wasn't crowded and had plenty of seating. I'll definitely return!!! Yelp
I really like the ramen broth here. It has a hint of truffle and is well seasoned. You get a slice of pork and chicken, and both are on the leaner side compared to other ramen places. Food comes out really fast.

Yelp
What a fantastic bowl of warmth on a cold day. Service was friendly but also super fast! By the time our shishito peppers came out, we had each had one before the ramen came out. I ordered the new Tokyo Shoyu ramen, my friend ordered the Spicy Mushroom Pork, and we really had just 20 minutes of pure silence between us as we savored our ramen. The broth of mine was exceptionally tasty. The noodles has a nice chew and lightness to them. The shishito peppers were wonderfully light and had a nice bitterness to them. The yuzu salt gave it a nice savoriness to round it out. Overall, its well worth a visit! Depending on when you go, you may have no wait time like we did and will enjoy a fantastic bowl of ramen in a roomy and artsy space!

Yelp
OMG! Where do I start?! This new location in Chelsea is closer to my work so I decided to try it! It's very spacious and clean restaurant, didn't have to wait for a table during the peak time. I absolutely LOVE this place! I'm originally from Tokyo so when it comes to my shoyu ramen, I'm very picky. This place nailed it!!! AND combined together with one my favorite ingredients, "truffle"?!?! You can take all of my money!!!
google avatar

Ray L.

Yelp
The pork was SO tender in the soup, it left me wanting more pieces. Karage was a solid choice as well. It didn't feel too rushed or crowded, considering it was Sunday brunch time when we arrived. Definitely hit the spot on a cold day. Would come back again just for that pork!
google avatar

Amelia C.

Yelp
Delicious, mushroom based broth with ground pork, chili oil and an egg as an add-on. The crab croquettes were also great! No resos but able to walk in for 2 people at 6:30 on a Friday. Got packed by 7 though.
google avatar

Rianne A.

Yelp
Truffle ramen was tasty -- especially as I love truffle! I went on a rainy day and it was extra perfect. The noodles were the perfect texture and width.

Yelp
I loved my experience at Ramen Ishida Chelsea! My friend and I came here as a walk-in at 5:40 PM on a Friday. The servers were very welcoming and seated us immediately. For our appetizers, we ordered the pork buns and the shishito peppers. The shishito peppers were great, but nothing special. The pork buns blew me away. They had one of the best glazes on the pork and the bite was just so tender! My ramen was perfectly balanced. The broth was not too salty, and it was the perfect bowl for a cold day! For dessert, we each got a black sesame mochi ice cream. For $4, it was definitely overpriced, but delicious nonetheless! Highly recommend checking out Ramen Ishida Chelsea! Definitely make a reservation or call ahead with a party larger than 4!
google avatar

Leslie T.

Yelp
Very friendly service. I got the umami miso ramen. The ramen broth is rich and flavorful, and the noodles have good bite. The bean sprouts were fully cooked and tender, which I like and is not always a given when getting soupy noodles. My only complaint was that the chashu was at times hard to bite.
google avatar

Vy T.

Yelp
This location is so spacious compared to their LES spot! I got the spicy mushroom pork ramen and added an egg. The noodles had a nice bite to it and an eggy flavor, which I like. The broth was thick and heavy compared to their shio broth. It's got a roasted sesame (maybe peanuts) taste to it, which I'm not usually a fan of dishes like this, but this one was tasty! The spicy adds a nice kick so you don't get palette fatigue since it's a heavy dish. Looking forward to coming back and trying other ramen they have :)
google avatar

Channing M.

Yelp
Just walked out the door and already looking to go back. The Umami Miso Ramen was a standout, with a rich and savory broth that danced on the palate. The noodles were perfectly cooked, providing a satisfying chew with each bite. The pork buns were a delightful addition to the meal, offering a comforting contrast to the bold flavors of the ramen. I could have eaten 3 orders of these alone. While the restaurant's ambiance is modest, the focus is clearly on the quality of the food. It's clean, beautiful, and the service was absolutely wonderful. Ramen Ishida Chelsea is a must-visit for ramen enthusiasts seeking an authentic and flavorful dining experience.

Jeanne Antoinette M.

Yelp
Their ramen hits the spot especially this winter season! I was a bit worried that me and my friend won't get a seat right away and have to wait in line because they don't accept reservation but good thing we got there before it got busy!! (There was a line as we left the resto.) I had the Spicy Umami Miso, it was sooo good!! My friend ordered the New Tokyo Style Shoyu Ramen, she said it was also sooo good. - will need to go back to order this next. The lighting in the restaurant gives an intimate vibe. Loved it.
google avatar

Colleen L.

Yelp
one of my new favourite ramen spots in the city. broth is light and the noodles are the perfect consistency. only thing is the servers kept asking if we were done and felt like they were rushing us, even though there was plenty of space in the restaurant.
google avatar

Kevin P.

Yelp
Decor was so cozy, minimal, warm and lovely. Staff was very kind and helpful. The Yuzu Sparkling soda was sweet and refreshing. The shio ramen was so so so yuuuuuuuuuummy! Would definitely return.
google avatar

Angela S.

Yelp
Met up with someone visiting the city and got a seat quickly. I got the miso ramen. The chicken was good and the noodles had just the right amount of chew, but the broth mostly just tasted salty. Everyone was very welcoming when we came in and refilled our waters often. The part that went sour was that we were told there was a larger party and had to leave only 30 minutes after sitting down. Given that we had only just finished our ramen and hadn't been there long, being hurried out was disappointing. This was definitely not the vibes for a hanging out with friends.

Sydney C.

Yelp
I enjoyed the meal overall, but it needs some work. They close at 10 and my friends and I did not arrive until 8:33, so please keep in mind the short period to closing. Three of us had ordered the spicy ramen and we received the original. After asking about spicy, one of the employees quickly recognized the mistake and told the other server how to fix. Which they did by brining us a spice mix to add, and this mix was included on our bill. Lastly, I think the toppings were reheated by this point and I missed my jammy egg.

Shiloh J.

Yelp
Love the food and vibe here! My go to ramen place in nyc and the service is exceptional!

Yelp
I ordered the truffle ramen takeout and it was delicious. Can't wait to sit and eat at this wonderful new ramen spot in my neighborhood

Hee C.

Yelp
I heard about Ramen Ishida in Brooklyn but never went because it was too far. But they opened one in Chelsea, so I finally tried it! The broth was rich and full of flavor--not the cheap kind, but carefully made. The place looked really nice, and the service was amazing--everyone was super friendly and paid close attention to the little details. I'll definitely go back next time I'm craving ramen!

Jerry S.

Yelp
This seems like a new restaurant and I was happy to try it out. Sadly though.. I have to say it was mediocre at best.. service was great, staffs were attentive and kind. Interior design is nice and feels cozy. But the food.. I ordered spicy umami miso -- I couldn't even taste anything umami. In fact I couldn't even tell if it was spicy, ha. (And I don't do crazy spicy food either) the broth was just blend and the portion.. I mean I got two skinny chashu, some bokchoi (why is there a bokchoi), corns and an egg. It came with plenty of broth though, which is rare nowadays. It was overall an okay experience but with a hefty bill. With crab croquette (which its coating felt too over cooked to justify $12 for two pieces) the total bill came about $45 with the tip. I ubered just to try this place out but next time I am just gonna go to the ramen place near me. Overall an average experience.

Jenny L.

Yelp
They have great selections of ramen, apps and drinks to choose from, and all of them (tried most of them so far after several visit) are up to point! Cozy atmosphere, upscale interiors are also a plus. I'd love to eat good food, but would never want to eat at a noisy, dirty restaurant but Ramen Ishida Chelsea is sparkling clean. Friendly staffs and their service is also great. Even after I try all of their food, I would be a regular!

Lea G.

Yelp
Service was great and very polite. They were quick to help and food came out within a few minutes. The food was so tasty! The pork was tender and falling apart and the fat was rendered down so well. The egg in combination of the broth was amazing, along with the chewy noodles. Since I ate alone, I was sitting at the "bar top" area. I loved the calm and relax atmosphere they have created and will love to go back and try something new.
google avatar

Roxane P.

Yelp
This place was amazing! My boyfriend and I were craving ramen all day, especially with this cold weather. We arrived and the ambiance was exactly what we were hoping to have for a nice date night. The staff was so kind and attentive and made sure we were satisfied the whole meal. We had the spicy mushroom pork ramen with added corn, umami miso ramen, crab cream croquet, and the edamame. Everything was delicious. I appreciated the focused menu with such delicious options. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
Walked in and rejected us since we had "too many people" there was only 9 of us. Terrible service don't come as a group

Julie L.

Yelp
Terrible customer service. Ordered to go and they did not want to give me my order because I did not have proof of the order though I had my credit card card and id. Finally, after asking for a refund, they gave me my order. Ridiculous.

Melissa K.

Yelp
Food is great and the service is good as well. love the atmosphere and lighting of the restaurant. Really recommend their food (:

G H.

Yelp
Our favorite ramen spot in the city. I have been eating at the original location in LES since they opened then. I am quite happy they have upsized to a much larger location that is more convenient to me as well. The best things to get of course are the Tokyo Shoyu, most amazing and delicate broth. Good apps include the dumplings in soup and the crab croquette. Highly recommend and very good service.

Lana C.

Yelp
Ok I've been to the LES one multiple times and tried the new Chelsea one once. Ramen is really good here. BUT went back on a cold winter night looking forward to a hot bowl of ramen to warm me up and had terrible experience. We had a party of 5, the restaurant was full and the hostess said it would be a 20 min wait and we HAD TO WAIT OUTSIDE IN THE FREEZING COLD! That made sense at the LES outpost since it is so small but there was plenty of room for us to wait INSIDE by the door in the Chelsea location. Not how you should treat customers! Needless to say, we left.

Gemini S.

Yelp
Came here for lunch for a nice bowl of ramen on a rainy day. I ordered the first thing on the menu with the chicken broth and truffle and loved it! It was so good, the broth gave me nostalgia of my childhood. The service was nice and quick and the experience overall was excellent. Definitely recommend this place.

Jaxon L.

Yelp
Service is not good. Wouldn't even allow us to sit down and eat in the restaurant even though there were around 20ish empty seats.

Yelp
Got rejected to dine in as a family of 9. If you have plan to do group dinner or lunch, don't come here.

Cash B.

Yelp
possibly one of the best places in New York .super clutch due to the fact that the ramen place in Chelsea market was closed. so glad I had the chance to go there.
