A New Japanese Izakaya Is Slinging Ramen in Castle Hills | Eater Dallas

"This Japanese spot focuses on richly developed ramen broths—both tonkotsu and chicken—with the ramen simmered for eight hours before serving. The menu also includes rice dishes, seaweed salad, gyoza, and other Japanese specialties, while the chef keeps things fresh by rotating daily featured items, such as a briny sea urchin shooter dressed in Japanese salsa. Service is concentrated into lunch and dinner windows, with weekday and weekend evening availability and closure on Mondays." - Alaena Hostetter

We went to the ramen Akita with the family for lunch. Although there was only one person - owner, chef?- the service was attentive and personable. The menu was simple, which IMO, is preferable compared to a long list and the food/ramen was excellent. I tried the chicken karaage and spicy garlic chicken ramen. The broth was savory and flavorful and the texture of the ramen was just right.

My new favorite ramen spot. The pork broth ramen was well balanced and savory. Noodles were and chewy and perfect. The pork belly was thick cut and had amazing flavor. I will be coming here again.

Y’all… I just had the spicy garlic chicken ramen at Akira and I’m actually speechless!First of all, that broth?? Rich. Spicy. Garlicky. It hit like a warm hug and a mic drop at the same time. The chicken karage was like soya glazed crispy chicken which was also so good!

As they operate out of Moonlight atm, seating fills up quickly during dinner hours. Highly recommend making reservations after 6 PM on their busy days. Jazz-themed decor and music made the dining experience very intimate. My wife and I each got our own ramen and opted for the daily chutoro special; it did not disappoint. It was so fresh that my wife, who is usually unable to eat seafood due to the smell of most sashimi, was able to enjoy two large pieces of the chutoro. The Nagoya ramen has a spicy kick from the special chili oil, and the Tokyo shoyu ramen is definitely full of umami. If you haven't dined here yet, you are definitely missing out!

I got the spicy garlic chicken ramen and it was out of this world. Might be my newest favorite ramen in DFW. Definitely coming back and would 10/10 recommend.

The food here was pretty mediocre in my opinion. Kept hearing about it and wasn't impressed. Kind of weird to order a spicy pork shoyu with all the ingredients at the bottom. There were multiple noodles that were sticking together and the noodles were a bit mushy. The broth did make up for my review from a two star to a three star though. I did try the beef tataki and again, wasn't impressed. I think everyone should give it a try though before going off my review since we all have different taste buds. Some of you guys might actually like this place. It isn't a 4+ rated place for nothing.

They got one of the BEST ramens in town. Little on the pricier side but definitely worth a visit
