13 Slurp-Worthy Bowls of Ramen in San Francisco

"This snug storefront on 16th Street in Mission Dolores swings open to warm wood interiors. The kitchen simmers the broth for 16 hours, with tonkotsu, roasted garlic, shoyu, and veggie miso variations, and spiciness ranges from “No Spicy” to “Goku Spicy.” In addition to ramen, there are small plates such as takoyaki octopus balls and taiyaki fish-shaped cakes." - Dianne de Guzman, Eater Staff

One of the best bowls of ramen that I've had. Everything in the bowl was incredibly flavourful and delicious. Would absolutely come back when we're in town and highly recommend to anyone.

I rarely give poor reviews but this place warrants one. Although the ramen portion was great, the overall flavor profiles was really bland. We ordered the roasted garlic tonkotsu and regular tonkotsu. The broth was really lacking. The garlic chips have some flavor but you really need a good broth. Felt like the ingredients didn't really absorb any flavors so it was also bland. The egg was a little overcooked and it was still cold when we ate it. The other kicker is there's a "sf health mandate" that isn't disclosed and they set their machine to start at 18% recommended tip. You'd have to adjust it in front of the server, which can be uncomfortable for some.

Their Roasted Garlic Ramen earned the first place in my most favorite ramen list. The broth was so rich and flavorful. I love roasted garlic and this ramens did it justice. The chef was quite generous with his food. The ramen bowl was deep allowing a good portion of noodle, veggies and broth, one whole runny yolk boiled egg, and 4 big pieces of very well braised pork. Spicy pork over rice was very tender and flavorful, not too sweet but quite spicy (spicy level is probably 6-8).

First time here. Great atmosphere. Like the woody interior and nice music. The young Asian lady service is very good and considerate too. I got the garlic ramen and it's great! My wifey normally don't eat fatty chashu but the one from them is so nicely marinated that she just love it. Will come again!

The veggie miso ramen has changed recipes and is not the same to the previous ownership. Devastated that I didn’t know the last time I had it would have been my last forever. I hope the new ownership does well here. But my search for my go to ramen spot sadly is beginning after tonight’s meal. Broth wasn’t hot enough. The entire dish tasted over salted. Positives: the new set up felt refreshing. The service was polite and welcoming.

We were walking around the area simply walked in for dinner. The first dish we ordered were the Squid Karage and Chicken Karage. The chicken Karage was OK. The squid karage on the other hand was the bomb. It was meaty and not rubbery and very crunchy. I would order it again. The star was definitely the Tonkatsu ramen. The pork was amazing with an edge from a very long braising. My friend got the extra pork and went to town on the pork and simply had the pork and broth. This is definitely to return several times place.

The ramen is very mediocre overall, and I do not recommend it. The meat was thick but also harder than it should be. The egg was flavorless and undercooked a smidgen. The noodles were obviously store bought and harder than they should be. This is all the tonotsu ramen had. I do want to point out the broth was extremely good. The ramen took over ten minutes to arrive at the table. The takoyaki took over thirty minutes to arrive which is unacceptable. It was good but not worth the wait. The service was slow and they did not refill the tea ($3 for tea). Overall this place was expensive for what it was.
