Ramen of York

Rainy Friday calls for Ramen. I found this gem by Googling a place near the location I was at at the time. It's a smal place. I believe it seats 18-20 people at a time. It's a super cute, chill vibe. Dim lights, but not dark. The bowls of ramen are very well served, with the exception of the pork belly. They only give one piece, it should be at least two. The broth is oh so yummy. The cucumber crab salad is bomb (that dressing! Geesh!). And the spicy tuna roll is delish. However I don't understand the $2.50 charge for the "cut" nor did I question it, but i should have. Service is okay. Not terrible, but not very attentive. I will definitely be going back.

Ordered the poke bowl. There is hardly any tuna, and it looks they were trying to hide the fact as what tuna there was was covered by salad greens. Otherwise their food is good, but it's a shame to pay so much for a fish dish and have it be 2 cups of rice, 2 cups of veggies, and barely any fish.

Wonderful ramen shop on the North Side of York. Paid parking lot around the corner and street parking available. Not too many tables inside, a little claustrophobic for me but glad they have a few tables for outdoor dining. Service and food was great, forgot to take more pictures. I would definitely go back when I have the chance.

Tried this place out as part of our monthly ramen runs. The food did not disappoint. We got two ramens (classic tonkotsu and the shoyu ramen) the flavor of the broth and the tenderness of the meat were the highlights. We liked that this place seems to offer really good value and price for the quality of food. We also got the pork belly bowl and Philadelphia roll and they were better than I thought they would be. We'll be back, I recommend trying this place if you're looking for a top, solid ramen joint.

After visiting Universal Studios, we went to see our friend in LA and we had lunch here before we travel to OC. This little restaurant is quite nice, hiding on a busy street, there's only parking on the streets or a paid public parking in the back which was a little difficult to use credit card to pay but after many tries and we did it. It was a hot day and the AC in this restaurant was good enough for us to have a nice lunch. The service was extremely attentive and pleasant. There are quite a few Japanese dishes that we could enjoy. Especially Ramen of all types. It's a little salty for my taste but quite delicious. I had the spicy tuna rice bowl which is quite filling and tasty with salad. I finished the whole thing. We ordered some appetizers which came out quite amazing. Spicy tuna on crispy rice cake. Our friend ordered her favorite spicy tuna rolls which she finished all. My kids had the tonkatsu chicken and potbelly bowls that they really enjoyed all LOL. The desert was so good that we ordered 2. The prices are so inexpensive here, the food is great and the service is excellent. We will come here next time again when we're in Highland Park.

Garbage…..The broth was flavorless or filled with spice and overbearing. Too much oil in multiple dishes. Condition of kitchen and back room on the way to the restroom is not clean. This is not a good ramen spot.

“OK” ramen. If you just want ramen and don’t want to drive far, this place works. I had the “Classics” ramen. The broth wasn’t rich, the pork was mediocre and quite fatty, the egg wasn’t marinated and wasn’t soft-boiled. I also tried the pork bun, which was about a 3/5 as well - the bun wasn’t fluffy or soft like in other places, and the pork wasn’t very tender. Overall, nothing bad, but nothing great either. 3/5.

Super easy to hop on the waitlist and run across the street for a cocktail while you wait for your table. Ramen broth is full bodied, creamy and mouth-coating. Egg is not as jammy as I like, but close enough. Nice amount of noodles, and greens, tho grab a toothpick on your way out because that spinach is persistent. The garlic edamame was soooooooooooooooo good. I ordered it yesterday and have been thinking about it since then. Will be back!

The restaurant is very small. We had the lunch special. It starts with either edamame or a salad, then Ramen which you can pick from 3 or 4 different options. I had the Blaze with pork shoulder. It ends with a rice bowl and I picked the spicy tune one. Both the salad and edamame were good, the Ramen was extremely spicy! And I love spicy but this was a little too much for me. But good nonetheless. The Spicy Tuna rice was delicious. We also shared an order of their Crispy rice with spicy tuna, which was nice and spicy! So good! So why only 2 stars? Because serves matters. Our server: 1. Brought our food out all at the same time. 2. Never brought us more water. I finally had to ask her for some. 3. Dirty dishes just sat on the table the whole time. And it's a small table making uncomfortable. 4. Bad mouthing your patrons, where they can see you and hear is extremely rude and unkind. So yes, the good was very good, but I will never go back.

It was okay. I came here for lunch with my family. I was excited to check it out as I was craving ramen and it's nice that there was spot in the neighborhood. The inside was pretty dark and reminded me of a diver bar. The ramen was okay. Not bad but not memorable. I found it to be a little overpriced for what it was especially considering all the ramen options that are relatively close by. Service was fine. They were friendly and attentive. Probably won't be back unless I'm really craving ramen and don't want to order.

Just happened to walk in and so glad I did! It's a time place but they sure do ramen RIGHT! I want to go back and try other things on the menu. As other customers' orders were coming out, everything looked so tasty!

Small spot in a cool area. I love the dipping ramen here. The broth is intense and delicious. We went at an off time (afternoon) and were seated immediately, but then the place unexpectedly filled up. My only negative comment is that one of the waitresses or hostesses made the complaint to the other that there were "too many damned people in here", which made us feel less welcome. I'll go back eventually, but it took some of the shine off the experience.

Authentic, delicious, craft ramen! The broth was rich, flavorful, and perfectly balanced. You can tell it's been simmered with care. The noodles and fresh toppings were the perfect balance. The karaage and sushi rolls were absolutely on point. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service was attentive without being rushed. The chilly weather had me craving Ramen, so I decided to give this place a try. Ramen of York serves traditional ramen made with natural ingredients. Their broth is simmered for 16 hours for richness and to enhance the flavor. My order consisted of Vegetable Ramen, Shrimp Tempura Roll, Spicy Tuna Roll, & Edamame. The Vegetable Ramen has a miso broth as a base and contained bean sprouts, corn, mushroom, tofu, broccoli, baby greens & edamame. The broth was rich and had a nice flavor. The noodles were perfect and endless. The Shrimp Tempura roll was large and very tasty. It had imitation crab and avocado. The tempura shrimp was crispy, and I liked the sauce that was drizzled on top. The spicy tuna roll was also good, and the edamame was light dusting of yuzu salt. My food was delivered and everything was packaged well and arrived quickly. The broth was in a separate container and was still hot when I received it. I would order from here again and would stop by for dine as well.

Been wanting to try this place for a while and boy did it live up the height. The gyoza was perfectly crispy and the perfect appetizer...then of course the Ramen comes out just as I was biting in to my last piece of gyoza. That's great waiter awareness. We ordered the Buttered Corn Ramen - you cannot go wrong. Bursting with flavor and had me searching for a piece of corn til the last sip. It was everything we needed to warm us up in time for the Christmas Light show we were going to after dinner. I recommend this place to all - it will NOT DISAPPOINT!!!!! Will be returning even if im no where close by lol

I've been coming here since this place opened, quite some many years. It's one of my favorite local restaurants. This is my third update to my review, since I believe it has changed ownership or management? Or maybe just head chef? a few times. My number one request: Please go back to the old Mazemen recipe. The current recipe has a reddish oil on the pork vs the old (tan/miso colored?) sauce, the noodles seem different and there was no roasted jalapeño pepper, and none of the little bright red pickled topping. The noodles seem smaller and less springy, and the pork seems different, very finely ground (more finely ground than it used to be) with a red cast to the fat that came off it. It did have LOTS of bamboo shoots, which is always nice, and chopped green opinon. I really missed the extras like the jalapeño and pickled red veggie. And I really missed the overall taste. It was my favorite order! That's not to say it's not good, it was just very much better a year ago. The pork bowl is delicious, flavorful melt in your mouth pork, and I love all the added sushi options. Several vegan and vegetarian options as well. You can take anyone here and they will have a good meal! Just please bring back the Mazemen!

I wasn't planning on stopping at Ramen of York. In fact, I was headed to a spot I normally go to. But something told me to pause--maybe curiosity, maybe hunger, maybe fate--and I found myself stepping inside to check out the menu. I'm glad I did. They were offering a dine-in only lunch special that immediately caught my eye. The deal was simple but appealing: pick a starter, choose one of four small ramen options, and select a small rice bowl from a list of three. It's the kind of combo that feels like a full experience without being overwhelming. The portions were more than expected for lunch--enough to satisfy without sending you into a food coma. Each component had its own standout qualities, and the variety made the meal feel balanced and complete. The ramen was rich and comforting, with a broth that had real depth. Loaded with greens, chicken and a good portion of noodles. The rice bowl was a teriyaki chicken again loaded with chicken and colorful vegetables. The Chicken bowl had great texture and flavor, and the starter. I chose the salad was a great way to kick things off. The seating is cozy with small tables against the wall. Easily to maneuver for a larger group. There's also dining outside along the street. No surcharge. The atmosphere was relaxed, the service was friendly, and overall, it was a great midday surprise. Ramen of York turned out to be a lucky detour--one I'll definitely be making again.

Another gem in highland park. I been coming here since the only thing in the menu was ramen and they had a barstool seating area. 7+ years later same location, same great service, great quality ramen. My go to ramen is the vegetable ramen. The broth is very flavorful and bit creamy . Now they also offer a variety of rolls, rice bowls etc. I stopped by recently on a weekend and there wasn't a long wait. The ramen serving is a good size for the price more than I than I can actually I eat that I usually have left overs. I was very happy to find out they are now independent from Silverlake ramen.

The food hit the spot. The ramen was delish and great food overall. Ordered some sake and gyoza to go with the ramen. The service was great and the ambiance is cozy and small.

You can do outdoor dining with your dog here or eat inside. Many people seem to order takeout! I get their lunch special where you get edamame or a salad, plus a small ramen and a small rice bowl! Service is friendly. Street parking or parking lot.

Not bad. The theme is cute and the staff is super friendly. I love their choice in music. It's a little bit small and uncomfortable. I enjoyed my poke (a new item on their menu). It's flavor was excellent. My sister said their ramen was decent. It's not as rich as the original Silverlake Ramen used to be, but still good.

Get the spicy ramen!!! I have nothing else to say. It's small in there but it's worth it to me sometimes. Love the staff, they're great. ttyl! Xoxo

Ramen was delicious. Sesame ball was also delicious. Place is located in a hole. It's crowded so that means food is worth your time. Go give them a try.

Ramen always hits the spot. I love their combo with the traditional ramen with pork + and side of either the chicken karaage or spicy tuna & crispy rice. Their outside seating is nice & rarely full (at least whenever I try it) + great, fast service. One of my fave spots in the area!

This is more of an obituary than a review. Been a loyal customer for years and noticed the changes made by the new management. Seems like the tasty broth used in their ramen is no more. There are new dishes to try but they all lack the full flavor the old ramen had. Either new owners are cutting corners on ingredients they use or in prep time, but the taste of the ramen is not the same. Last time I dined in, it took more than half an hour to be served as they prioritized to go orders. I wasn't even finished with my food and the server who also happens to be an owner was asking for payment. Sad to see this place being turned into a distant memory of good food. RIP old Ramen of York. You will be missed.

Just finished the meal and I had to pull out my phone to write a review. The lunch special was amazing! I had the classic ramen and chicken karaaga. Super flavorful! And you get a good amount of food for the price. I'll definitely be back.

My friend recommended this place and speaks highly of the ramen. I finally got a chance to try it out for another friend's birthday. The service was five starts, and the food was delicious! The long and narrow shop makes it feel like you are in Japan. Public parking is available at the back of the shop and on the street.

Food Came here with friends and to start we got fried gyoza and karaage. Both starters came with some type of spicy mayo which is pretty good balance with the starters. The gyoza was fried nice and crunchy with the rich and flavorful pork filling balanced out by the tangy,spicy mayo dipping sauce. The karaage was crispy and flavorful. The ramen itself was a bit okay. The store says it is by silverlake ramen but I don't think the quality was as good. The broth was flavorful, the egg was rich and the pork was juicy and soft. The ramen was a bit undercooked and left something to be desired. Service/Ambiance We came here and there was quite some wait around 10-15 mins which wasn't too long. The inside of the restaurant is quite small and not too much seating giving the vibe of a small ramen shop in japan. We got our food pretty quick and our server was nice

Though this restaurant is very small, the ambience is friendly and there's a choice of sitting outside. The service was great worth the wait of about half an hour. The food was excellent as always Thank you so much.

I got the Bomb ramen. Best ramen I have ever had in my life! 10/10. They had a lot of new Ramen options and appetizers on the menu. Was all very good.

This restaurant in 0 level. They don't have or enough employees or chef. I got my order after 2 hours. It's horrible..

I just ordered from them. Either they got my order wrong or they reduced their portion sizes. I've ordered many times before so I'm familiar with the portion sizes. I paid extra for a large pork belly rice bowl and they sent me a small. Not just a small. A small box. Like a togo box. Not a lot of meat. No sauces either. Lame.

I have been coming to this ramen spot for many years, it has been my favorite spot in highland park. Sadly I'm noticing they put way less noodles in the ramen and it makes me sad I need to look for a new spot because of this. :( Service and staff are so sweet and accommodating, I wish they added more noodles like they used to.

We came out to explore this cute spot of York. Stopped by to have a late dinner here. Sat outside, and was seated immediately. While sitting outside, it's was loud, but that's the experience dining outside. BFF had the original ramen bowl with chicken, and I had the blaze ramen with pork belly. quality of service 5/5 quality of food 5/5 cucumber/yuzu Lemonade was good by a tad too sweet. 4/5

I came here a few months ago and I'm barely writing this now because I just redownloaded Yelp. I really wish I could keep coming to this ramen spot since it's so close to home but unfortunately I won't be back. My partner and I had just sat down and were looking at the menu when the people next to us started screaming because a cockroach was crawling up one of their chairs. We were sitting right in front of the kitchen opening so I'm assuming it came from there. A staff member came over, looked for it, saw it on the floor, killed it, and just apologized super casually like it was no big deal. My partner and I got up and left. If there was one, there's probably more. Just not something I can overlook when it comes to food.

Regardless of how or who delivers your food, your employees packed it. To take zero responsibility for missing items and act like a refund fixes the issue is terrible. To pack drinks in a big paper bag and expect that they won't spill is poor planning. A little bit of accountability could have helped excuses don't. Then your normally delicious broth tastes water downed and not to the quality that I've experienced in the past. Not sure I'll be ordering from you guys in the future.

The service was okay. We had asked about the lunch menu which we only missed by a couple of min due to their slow service. Then, one of the girls proceeds to explain that the kitchen staff doesn't like to make "half" aka small portions of their broths because they end up throwing out the other half!?!?!?!?!?!? That made me sad... it horrified me hearing that, so I'm not too convinced of coming back even though they have good ramen! We ordered 2 Blazes (mild and medium) as well as the Classic along with 2 combinations - Pork Belly Bowl & Spicy Tuna Bowl. The broth itself is flavorful, which is good because I enjoy a very hearty broth in my soups! The salads were drenched in dressing, although it was good, it was a bit much. The wait time was a lot higher than quoted even when I checked in with my phone number. I would have asked to speak with management but I didn't have the heart to ask. Am I going back? Probably not...

I love coming here! Their sushi is the best. Today I ordered the spicy tempera roll and a crispy spicy tuna starter. So delicious! Jenny was the sweetest too. She made sure I was happy and had everything I needed. Everyone please go dine in or take out, you'll thank me later :)

Spicy pork belly ramen, hubby had dipping kind. Both were tasty, also ordered spicy tuna roll and poké bowl that was not on the menu. Used the check-in coupon for a free matcha green tea. Pork belly slices were like pork loin chop size and thicker than 1/2 inch. Broth is rich, garnished with 1/2 soft yolk egg. Mouth watering while writing this review... Overall we enjoyed everything! Our server was great too! Thankful to his excellent service.

Sustenance. That's all this is. If you like your ramen flavorless and super white washed then this is your place. The apple bees of hipster ramen restaurants. I like my ramen to be a little more Japanese.

I wanna start off my saying I come here all the time and I'm not ashamed lol. Food is always good in my experiences, I always get the chicken bowl with extra sauce (spicy mayo and teriyaki) and my partner always gets the blaze ramen. I personally love both of those items and haven't tried anything else from the main menu lol but we always get gyoza which is normally great but last time I got them they were a bit too mushy and falling apart so they Can be hit or miss just a heads up. The manager told me they make their gyoza from scratch everyday tho so bonus points there!!! Service is always good and be patient when they get busy because they do get busy and only so many people/staff can fit inside the establishment. There was one time where the girl at the front was stressing out and we could tell she was angry with her manager but she still delivered good service and kept it cool!!! Ambiance is interesting because the seats are so close together you can hear everything people are saying at the table next to you especially when it's busy but it's always nice to sit outside if you can since they got coverage and a space heater!!!! Overall 10/10 for me and my partner, we will always come here and recommend it to others, we've all ready put so many people onto this franchise and they all love it dearly!!!! (If you wanna try the blaze but are worried about spice, you can ask them for mild spice and it's still got a good kick but it allows you to taste the richness of the broth and really appreciate the ramen!!)

Came here in person over a month later and tried the Mazemen again. It tasted COMPLETELY different from the first time I tried it. The noodles were thinner and the sauce had too much vinegar. This place is extremely inconsistent so I would avoid it if you can.

I've tried so many other veggie ramens and I always come back to how much this one is so tasty! Service is always attentive and ambiance is very NYC (tight) but well worth it :)

We come here every week. Ramen is fantastic, staff treats you like family, and it's just a solid place for us to date - date night or family dinners.

Ordered take out took over 40 minutes to say ready she o got home broth was cold noodles hard and stuck to bottom of the cup. I will never order there again.

Food is wonderful. The server was very kind and helpful. The noise in the kitchen was unbearable. The staff were speaking much louder than necessary, not allowing me to even have an easy time in conversation with the person across from me. The dishes were being stacked noisily, and unnecessarily loudly. I'm glad that the staff seem to enjoy working together, but it was a little too much.

Hidden on York street, this ramen place has something unexpected. Dipping ramen. I had no idea coming in to this place that I would be having dipping ramen for lunch. My go to dipping ramen place is over an hour away and to find a spot with really good dipping ramen near me is a god send. Would definitely recommend trying their dipping ramen. Comments: everything I ordered was really good. Wish the crispy rice with spicy tuna was smaller in size and more in quantity. It would make it easier to eat.
