14 Restaurants for Crispy, Cheesy Pizza in Long Beach | Eater LA

"Chicago deep-dish pizza fans can satisfy their craving at this Belmont Shore joint. The restaurant doesn’t skimp on fillings, with each heavy pie stuffed with meat and cheese, then topped with a thin layer of dough and chunky tomato to finish. There are also Detroit-style pan pies with caramelized cheese around the edges of a thick, buttery crust."

Chicago’s Regional Tavern-Style Pizza Has Arrived in Los Angeles - Eater LA

"Rance's Chicago Pizza, with locations in Long Beach and Costa Mesa, does what they dub as a 'thin crust' pizza that is also cut square, and mostly features ingredients pushed edge-to-edge." - Farley Elliott

One nibble, everybody knows the laws! Very good Chicago-style deep dish, which is next to impossible to find in SoCal. You can tell that they did their homework. Service was prompt and friendly. Prices are very reasonable and toppings were very generous. A medium pizza with three toppings will feed a party of two at least three times over, so be prepared to be munching on pizza for a few days. We had been anticipating our visit to Rance's and I'm glad we went!

Google
This was my 1st time ever trying authentic Deep Dish Chicago pizza and wow! I understand now why people need to use forks and knives when eating this style pizza! Pizza was incredibly delicious! You can taste all the individual ingredients! Large selection of draft beers with very competitive pricing! Our server was very attentive and had a great personality. The atmosphere was also great with nice decor, clean chairs and tables. My girlfriend and I will definitely be returning the next time we're in Long Beach!

Google
I hate writing negative reviews but this is about health and safety... I came here for lunch on Sunday and I was incredibly sick for 2 days following my meal. I'm pretty sure it was the pizza but it could've been anything... Both my friend and I were sick after. Please be cautious. On a positive note: the place was clean and open, nice on a sunny day, and the service was pretty good.

Google
Good experience. Big tables for a big group. Open air restaurant so it can get cold or loud depending on outside traffic. Appreciated the small portions available (4 slice pizza) so I didn't feel as if I was being wasteful.

Google
I heard about this restaurant from a coworker so I tried it out. I was definitely impressed with the food. I tried the bourbon wings and the deep dish pizza. The wings were delicious that I ordered another plate. The deep dish pizza showed up and it smelled great. I pulled a slice out, the cheese stretched out with it as I put it on my plate. I took my first bite and it was full of flavor. I ate 2 slices before I knew it, and tried to finish a third. But I was stuffed. I definitely recommend this restaurant if you like wings pizza and beer.

Best pizza, hands down! I dont eat pork, so i go with the beef peperoni. It's the best! This was my 4th time coming. Every time i play golf, i stop by! Keep it up

Google
The sausage pizza was very good, wouldn't be able to eat much of it or very often. The Bourbon Maple Bacon wings were amazing though, some of the best wings I have ever tasted in my life. The service was good. Chill ambiance for a Saturday afternoon. I will definitely come back to get more of those wings.

Google
I placed an order for a personal thin crust pizza. Not only did it take almost an hour to make a tiny, thin crust cheese pizza, but the girl behind the bar gave me a crazy face when I asked her to check on my pizza because it had been an hour since I ordered it. Then I get home and the pizza sucked! Not because of the bad experience, I was excited to try it, but it was mid. Also, I’m a Belmont Shore local that happens to be from Chicago and I would say that thin crust is the real Chicago style, and this was disappointing!

Yelp
I'll keep it brief, because I'd want you to get inside the restaurant as soon as you read this: THE PIZZA HAS EXPLOSIVE TASTE. I split a medium deep dish with one of my friends, and I did not need to eat the entire day. It is filling and flavor filled. The service was good and pretty surprising for a custom pizza pie restaurant. Not only was the wait for my food reasonable, but the server continuously checked on me as that order was being made

Yelp
I was very excited to finally try Rance's pizza, as a huge fan of all pizza types, but especially deep dish pizza. Unfortunately, once again another LA deep dish pizza spot failed to live up to the hype. We tried two different "stuffed deep dish" pizzas, both were mediocre in terms of taste and quality. They did have good service though and lots of different beers to select from. The ambiance is average, but not bad. If you really want to try it you can, but I would skip if you're a true fan of authentic deep dish pizza like many of the spots in Chicago. Food: 3/5 Drinks: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Value: 2/5 Overall: 3/5

Yelp
I'm not a huge fan of 2nd Street, especially on a Friday night, but a friend raved about Rance's Pizza, so I decided to give it a shot. We found parking quickly and were pleased that it wasn't too busy for a Friday night. We got seated right away and grabbed a menu. Unfortunately, we had to wait around 10 minutes while the staff chatted at the back by the bar. I had to go up to them to say we were ready to order drinks. When our waitress finally came over, she ended up taking another table's order first before returning to us. She was nice but not overly friendly and gave us some popular menu suggestions before heading off again. We ordered BBQ bourbon wings, salads, and a large pizza--half BBQ chicken and half pineapple. The wings were fantastic, just the right amount of sauce and perfectly warm. The salad was fresh, crunchy, and the ranch dressing was delicious. When the pizza arrived, it was hot and fresh, but it didn't impress us. The BBQ chicken side had way too much going on, with all the toppings overwhelming the flavors. We had to remove some layers of chicken and bacon to taste the actual BBQ chicken flavor. The pineapple pizza was average and lacked a memorable flavor--maybe the sauce was too bland. The atmosphere was great, and it became clear that Rance's is a spot for regulars as it started to fill up toward the end of our meal. If I go back, it'll be for the wings and salad, but I'd skip the pizza. Sorry, Rance's, it just wasn't for me.

Yelp
I love coming to Rance's, its a haven for Chicago-style pizza lovers, offering an indulgent pie that truly satisfies. The deep-dish pizza is incredibly filling, and my go-to combo of pepperoni pizza paired with a Caesar salad never disappoints. Beyond their signature Chicago-style pizza, Rance's boasts a nice selection of beers and soft drinks to complement your meal. Their menu also includes other pizza styles, appetizers, and paninis, providing plenty of options for every palate. Located right off 2nd Street in Long Beach, Rance's offers a charming outdoor seating area if you're willing to wait. Parking can be a bit tricky, but the ample street parking usually ensures you find a spot without much hassle. One of the standout features of Rance's is their dog-friendly policy. They warmly welcome your furry friends and even provide a bowl of water without you having to ask. The service is attentive and friendly, adding to the overall enjoyable experience. For anyone craving delicious Chicago-style pizza, Rance's is the place to be. The combination of great food, excellent service, and a welcoming atmosphere makes it a must-visit spot in Long Beach.

Yelp
I've been waiting to have Chicago style pizza for a long time. When I moved to Long Beach, I was so happy to have found one. My girlfriend and I went there one night and had a deep dish with pepperoni and mushroom. We also had a salad that was really good because of its addition of mozzarella cheese on top and the balsamic vinaigrette was really good. The pizza was really really good. It had all the true elements of Chicago deep dish. I will look forward to going back and trying the Sicilian pizza next time.. I will look forward to trying there chicken wings.

Yelp
Came here for my son's 15th birthday. We are from out of town, but this is always a stop we try to make when we are in Long Beach. It's near family and the food is amazing. Indoor and outdoor seating with large doors to the outside so on nice days you get a breeze and feel like you're outdoors. Giant wood high top tables. A great local beer selection, and wonderful service. Prices are pretty comparable to most places in the area. We got the stuffed pepperoni and the thin Margherita pizzas along with garlic fries. Food was quick (stuffed pizzas take about 40 minutes), drinks and appetizers were quicker. Definitely a need to try place. 8.8/10

Yelp
Rance's pizza is probably the closest I've had to actual Chicago deep dish pizza. We preordered the pizza for an early dinner around 3:00pm after a day at the beach. It does take about 45 min to make. But it's sure worth the wait! We got a basil, mushroom and garlic pie and it was delicious! The cheese was nice and stringy as the first slice was lifted from the plate and they definitely did not skimp on the garlic. It was probably a little thinner than the deep dish I've had in Chicago but still super tasty and service was great. Would definitely be back. I imagine this place gets busy during peak dinner times so be prepared to either call in and order ahead, wait for a bit, or go during off hours.

Yelp
Rance Chicago Pizza is a great spot for anyone craving some hearty, authentic Chicago-style pizza. The ambiance is fun and laid-back, making it a great place to enjoy a casual meal with friends. The stuffed pizza we ordered was quite tasty but, for us, it had an overwhelming amount of cheese. On the upside, the sauce was excellent and added a flavorful touch to the dish. In addition to the pizza, we tried the garlic cheese bread and buffalo wings, which both hit the mark with their flavors and quality. Despite the stuffed pizza being a bit too cheesy for our taste, we definitely plan to go back and try their regular pan pizza, hoping for a better cheese balance. Haha! Overall, Rance Chicago Pizza is a fantastic spot for anyone looking for good food, a fun atmosphere, and great customer service. It's a must-try for pizza lovers--

Yelp
I am a huge pizza fan and have been wanting to try this place and my only regret is not doing so sooner! Even better that they have a "take and bake" option so my pizza was piping hot after 15 minutes or so in the oven at home. I ordered a pepperoni, sausage and mushroom "stuffed" pizza and everything about it was absolutely delicious. Driving back home was torture since the smell was filling the truck. The pizza was loaded with toppings, then covered with a thin layer of dough and finally topped with a chunky Chicago deep dish sauce loaded with tomatoes and herbs. The crust was absolutely perfect, nice and flaky and buttery and it was hard not to eat the whole thing! The service was prompt. I ordered my pizza ahead of time so by the time I got there it was waiting for me, they explained how to finish it in the oven at home and I was off. The atmosphere is very chill definitely a bar/pizza joints vibe open to the street with plenty of tables for people to sit and enjoy one of these delicious pizzas. The only downside was finding parking as this part of long beach gets real busy. Otherwise 10/10 and I will be back!

Yelp
They have good pizza! I've been to other Rance's Chicago Pizza locations. This location is far superior. The location is perfect. Right in downtown Long Beach where everything is happening lol It does get super crowded on weekends. I came on a Saturday night and dang was it packed. But it is worth the wait for sure! The Chicago deep dish pizza is just like it should be. Huge and loaded with cheese! I love it. The pizzas take a while to make though. So, be prepared to wait like 45 minutes minimum for your pizza to come out. It's not like other pizza places where it comes out quick. This ain't no Pizza Hut lol

Yelp
Overall it was good, would go back Pros: Fresh ingredients Good flavor Super filling Came out in a reasonable time considering how long it takes to cook a deep dish pizza Clean inside Friendly workers Cons: Little on the pricey side for a plain deep dish but considering it's twice as filling, it's not terrible. The toppings to add to the pizza can definitely drive the price way up though

Yelp
Had the chicken panini sandwich. Forgot to take a picture before devouring half of the sandwich. My family had the pizza. All selections were delicious!! Nice open restaurant. No reservations. Plenty of seating

Yelp
Flavor Budz! If you're looking for a deep dish flavor combination pizza, I highly recommend Rance's. They have super laid-back friendly staff. Side note, parking is very tight. They are located on Second Street. Highly suggest having someone get out and get on the waiting list while you search for parking. Inside, there were plenty of TVs, and they had multiple games playing. My husband loved that because the Laker game had just started. It was giving sports bar vibes, high tables, and chairs with background music playing. Our waitress, Jennifer, was outgoing and genuinely pleasant. She offered her suggestions and the local favorites. Celebrating a birthday, we rolled in deep, so we ordered 4 pizzas, wings, and salad, which was plentiful. I literally ate one slice, and halfway through, I got full. (Lol) I ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, and it was 10 /10 highly recommended. The kids pretty much ate all of the Hawaiian pizza and the wings. Must try if you're hanging out on Second street.

Yelp
First time at this location. Never, in my over half a century years of living, have I had deep dish pizza. I decided to do a new thing. Once I got it and saw how it was structured, I understood the appeal. It is really a pie and deep dish crust. I fully understand why it's called a pie now and I was overwhelmed. Not that it wasn't good, actually the opposite, it was kind of decadent and very hearty. The crust was good and buttery. I was thinking this half of this personal size pizza probably 1200 calories. I'll try something different next time. It's a cool place. It looks very comfortable with big screens on the wall and plenty of seating. Everyone appeared to be nice and it definitely gives the neighborhood hangout vibe.

Yelp
I love Chicago-style pizza. This is the closest place for me to get this type of pizza since I haven't been to Chicago yet. I usually get the carnivore deep-dish pizza with the bourbon maple wings. The restaurant is off 2nd Street in Long Beach. The area can get really crowded because of all the other restaurants in the area. It usually takes 45 minutes for them to make the deep-dish pizza. The inside has a lot of seating and televisions for sports events. They also serve beer. For me, this is my favorite pizza spot for this type of pizza. If you haven't tried it, give it a try.

Yelp
A fun joint with good good and service. Upon entering, we were greeted by Jordan. He explained the menu, and shortly thereafter, answered our questions. We started with an order of Bourbon wings. These babies were delicious. They were meaty with a really nice sauce. Our pizza was a small deep dish with pepperoni, onions, and green peppers. It was worth the extra added time required for a deep dish. The restaurant presents an open view of 2nd Street and the Belmont Shore area. We enjoyed our visit and plan on stopping in for pizza and to see Jordan. Good work, guys!

Yelp
What a fun place with great food options. The space is open, cool comfortable. Great for large parties or small groups. I had the maple , bacon wings and they were bomb! I also got a pizza to try and take to go; and it was excellent!! With 30 beers on tap, patio seating and tons of TVs for sporting events; there's a little something for everyone here. My server was also highly attentive and offered the great recommendations. I'll be back again when I'm in the area and want some pizza!

Yelp
We have been looking for fantastic stuffed pizza like Zachary's in NorCal for ages, and we found it. Coincidentally there is a Zachary's connection at Rance's. (check out their history via Google) From the delicious stuffed pizza to the pizza art on the walls, it's like we finally have a place in SoCal that we can satisfy that Zachary's craving. We started with the Bourbon Maple Bacon wings - they were a little burnt tasting since the sweetness of the coating is easily burnt while cooking. But they kind of grew on us as we ate more. I'm not 100% positive we would get those again but ultimately they were ok. The stuffed pizza is definitely what we've been searching for. So thick and covered with great tomato sauce and cheese. My favorite at Zachary's is the Mediterranean with Red bell pepper, green olives, artichoke hearts, feta and Monterey Jack cheese. Rance's does not have green olives and instead of trying to Frankenstein a replica with other toppings, we went with sausage and pepperoni. When you're ordering a stuffed pizza, you need to go with strong flavors. Something like mushrooms is just going to get lost in the sauce and not hold it's own. We will definitely come here again. Rance's please add green olives to your toppings.

Yelp
This place was incredible. First time trying had no clue it even existed. It's right on the blvd and expect to wait 45 min for your fresh pizza. It's a deep dish so it's big. Very good I can't wait to go back and visit. I live in Lancaster, ca so will def have to make another trip here :) great job on this pizza. Taste really good.

Yelp
Aside from God fathers pizza in the 80s. This place is the only place I know that serves deep dish pizzas in Long Beach. Nice decor and ambiance. Service was immaculate! Greeted and Seated. Ordered the deep dish pizza of our liking. I ordered the combo with sausage. I can tell you that it was excellent! The closes you can be to Chicago. Good vibe good energy. I recommend.

Yelp
New favorite place to watch the game on a Sunday and eat delicious food. I literally want to try everything on their menu! Can't wait to be back. Server was sweet as well and everything is kept clean. Above all ambiance is super comfortable... you can be like me and laugh loud and not worry :)

Yelp
This lively pizza parlor is busy, but so far we've never had to wait long for a table. The staff is very knowledgeable on the beer and pizza choices. After trying the 3-different kinds of crust. We like the thin crust & pan crust the best. The ultra Chicago style sits heavy on the tummy but a must try pie if you've never had one; hint, order the small is enough for two people. The chicken wings, a must! Especially the maple bourbon flavor. We're becoming regulars here! Love this place.

Yelp
Wanted to try this place forever. Finally got around to it. I'm not disappointed but also not really impressed. Being a Chicagoan living here, I consider myself to be a bit of a pizza aficionado. Deep dish: sauce slid allover and kinda wrecked the pizza. The tomato chunks also ruined it for me. Blend those up a bit and get more of a sauce versus a salad. Thin crust (Tavern Style): WINNER. This pizza was great. Loved it and wish we got more. Crust was perfect.

Yelp
Your pizza is delicious, we drive there because there are very few really really good pizza joints around. But I ordered 2 TAKE AND BAKES. A BBQ chicken pizza and a Carnivor. I can not eat bacon or pork. Hence, the Bbq chicken. I spent $70. It is Friday, so I CAN NOT CALL. I ORDER with a real person may be Alti. It just SUCKS! This was human error . It was very specific. When I picked up the order, he read it back as a barbecue chicken pizza and a carnivore . Now i'm at home, and I can't eat this sucks . Please have a manager or somebody reach out to me. Because do not want to order from your restaurant, again. Because I spent seventy dollars and drove all the way there. I live in RPV and was craving your pizza, and I got screwed. Someone needs to call me back and give me a credit. This is ridiculous . I want to keep small businesses in business. And then you mess up on my order. When I actually talked to a human being and he's still messed up. Please reach out to me , or honestly, I probably won't visit your establishment again. Sincerely HANGRY AND JIPPED!!!! Update: A manager reached out to me and gave me a full refund and a gift card credit. THANK YOU!

Yelp
A great local place for deep dish pizza! Rance's is on 2nd street, parking can be a little difficult and Rance's tends to be busy by default. Because it's deep dish, it does take a little bit longer to prepare and is on the pricier side. However, the pizza is worth a try at least once! My 2 friends and I got a spinach and mushroom pie. The crust was the best part. Sooo buttery! (And thick). Vegetables were standard. Sauce was tasty and cheese was plentiful! When you get it to go, it doesn't come sliced so you can choose how big or small your slices are. My friends and I each ate 2-3 medium sized slices and still had leftovers; it's a big portion!

Allie R.

Yelp
First off a friend referred this place, they said it was the best. They had left overs of this Chicago stuffed deep dish pizza. One slice I was impressed and needed to come down and truly try it warm for myself. I drove 2 hrs. Service was great, ambiance very chill and comfortable. Taste of the pizza great. You I ordered a large stuffed deep dish just as it was recommended. First got the Parmesan fries so good. Then the pizza arrived look really good. Tasted amazing. But a lil disappointed because it didn't seem like the same pizza my friend had. Even from pics it looked like a deep dish with extra cheese but not so much like the stuffed deep dish I tried a cpl weeks ago. A bit disappointed.

Yelp
Okay, so BELIEVE THE HYPE. This place is amazinggggg. We have been here a few times and it never disappoints. The servers are all great, we've had George twice and he's super attentive & always has the best service! We have tried the spicy Thai wings, and buffalo... but once we tried the bourbon one... omg HEAVEN. They are the perfect blend of spicy and sweet...as soon as they bring them out you can smell the sweetness! But they are not too sweet! They are perfectly crispy but juicy and soft in the inside and omgggg the bacon bits! But let's talk pizza, as a professional pizza connoisseur I must say THEIR PIZZA MIGHT BE THE BEST IN TOWN. I do like to ask for light sauce bc I'm not a huge fan of tomatoes but honestly it's always perfect! We've tried deep dish and the thin either or is BOMB!! They have a ton of beer and drink choices like ciders! They do close earlier than I would like on weekdays lol but seriously this place is amazing!

Yelp
Pizza is one of those types of foods you can get anywhere but there are still ways of switching it up. Deep dish is one of those rarities in Southern California and If you've never had a Chicago style deep dish I would say give it a shot. Be warned if you normally order a large you might be ok sizing down due to it being a deep dish. Rance's is located in a cool walkable area, the ambiance itself is lively. Dining room is an open floor plan with TV's for the sports fans. You also have a patio and bar area. Staff is helpful if it's your first time ordering deep dish and have any questions. I took my niece and we ordered a medium which we should have sized down to a small. The pizzas are very hefty since it's a deep dish. It was amazing though super cheesey, and dough was good too. We got jalapeno and pepperoni as our toppings. I would definitely recommend stopping by if you want to step out of your pizza comfort zone and want to experience something different.

Yelp
I was looking for a dog friendly restaurant. I found this on Yelp and I'm very glad that I did. I enjoy the environment the food the customer service and the seltzers are to die for I will definitely come back.

Yelp
We dined at Rance's on a Thursday for lunch. Luckily there wasn't much people, maybe only two or three other tables. Service was very good, the waitress was attentive and filled our soda glass multiple times. We got the BMB wings and they were delicious! It is bacon maple bourbon. I typically like a spicy wing but these are very good and meaty wings. We also got the Rance's favorite in the Chicago deep dish style. I loved the layer of sausage that is on the pizza. We were so full from the wings that we could barely finish one slice. Thankfully the pizza reheated so well in the air fryer, making the crust even more crispy. I personally don't love deep dish pizza but I wouldn't mind coming back with friends. The area the restaurant in was pretty busy but we were able to find parking with no problem. The space was nice inside and had cute decoration. Would be a great place to watch the game or hang out with friends.

Yelp
Their Blood Orange beer is perfect! Don't knock it until you try it! Enjoy the beer. I ordered their buffalo wings and a Larger carnivore pizza.
google avatar

Brooke B.

Yelp
Rance's never disappoints! Pro tip if you are ordering the deep dish, get appetizers to hold you off while you wait. Posted time all over the restaurant says deep dish takes 45 minutes. I can't tell you if I've ever waited that long cause the BMB wings always keep me busy. For two people the small deep dish is more than enough. Flakey crust cooked to perfection! We have always ate in the restaurant but after reading reviews about the Togo orders we had to ask about the uncut pizza lol they stated they offer to go cutters for your convenience. They open the box and show you the pizza as well as posted stickers on the box stating the deep dish isn't not precut to preserve the quality of the pizza. When the deep dish is pre cut all the juices make the box and crust soggy. This is an fyi. The inside of the restaurant is roomy and the sound is perfect so you don't have to yell over all the sound. Service was excellent as well. We did have to remind our server to refill our drinks a few times but that's not worth complaining since we drink quickly! Lol overall would highly recommend this Instagram popular location

Yelp
If you want Chicago deep dish-come here. I've tried a few others that sell Chicago style, they don't even come close. The pies here are heavy and rich. A nice layer of cheese and a buttery crust, topped with a thick tomato sauce and the topping of your choice. It's quite the experience. The sleeper here were the buffalo wings. So delicious! That sauce is tasty and full of depth and flavor, Definitely a must. We've been here a few times and will definitely be back when we're back in the LB. We highly recommend.

Yelp
I just came back from Chicago a week ago, and this pizza is exactly like Chicago style pizza! Their pizza crust is crispy and has such a good flavor, their marinara sauce is very thick and rich as well. DONT GET ME STARTED ON THEIR WINGSSS, THE BEST IVE EVER HAD If your craving authentic Chicago style pizza, this is the place to go!! (Service was amazing as well!)

Yelp
Saturday night wanting a pizza. First time trying here. Would definitely come again. First the spicy Thai wings were good. Just not sure about the ranch with it, they didn't need the ranch. Next the star... the pizza! Oh my goodness! It truly was a deep dish, packed with ingredients and the sauce on top!!! So delicious! The 14" is a good size for 3-4 people easily. The beer selection was pretty good. If you are looking for a boring and quiet pizza joint.. this is not it! There are sports on the TVs and families coming to enjoy a meal together. Great place for family, friends and a pizza date. Service was on point. Our server was attentive and friendly. Looking forward to trying more of their food.
google avatar

Yelp
Best deep dish I've ever had! Came here on a date and I order the large meat lovers. Little did I know that the medium is more than enough for 2 people. The pizza was great, they burned the crust a little but I'm pretty sure they normally do it better than what I got so I won't dock them for it. The service from the server was good, but the male host was pretty rude and annoying. The layout for the venue was cool. Nice inside / outside feel. I recommend everyone get their pizza here. Next time I want to try the pesto or bbq chicken pizza

Yelp
Delicious deep dish pizza. I love finding a good pizza spot. Although we don't live close I definitely would be willing to make the drive. The vibe was casual and bar style. Although we went during the day it was still nice and good ambiance. If you're feeling like pizza definitely check this place out. You won't regret it. Ordered a deep dish and a thin crust both small and a small salad. They were perfect for two people and even had some left overs.

Yelp
The maple Bourbon wings are the best in Long Beach! They are crispy, slightly sweet and oh so savory. This was the place my son and I both suggested at the same time for wings. The restaurant is open to 2nd street with large wooden tables inside and small tables outside. It is very cool, mellow pizza beach vibe, and the servers were friendly and attentive.

Yelp
This place has some of my favorite Chicago style pizza in the area! The pizza is deep and cheesy and with the right amount of sauce. There are three styles of pizza to choose from, from deep dish Chicago to thinner types. They have a great deal of fresh toppings and one can customize pizzas to their liking. The service was excellent in a casual environment. The tables all look like picnic benches and there are plenty of TV's everywhere to watch sports games. They have a wide selection of draft beer as well. Overall, this is the spot to come to whenever you're in Long Beach craving deep dish pizza!

Yelp
Giving it a solid review because the service was great and the food was all fresh. The restaurant was a nice little spot and had outdoor seating with dogs allowed, which was great for our Golden- we ordered a house salad, the Parmesan fries, garlic bread and a medium pan pizza (with pepperoni, bacon, spinach and bell peppers), the pizza was HUGE! Since it's pan pizza it's so filling and we ended up with 4 slices to take home. We honestly thought the pizza was okay- I think next time no bacon for us, but we may also try the thin crust because we weren't super huge fans of how pie like the pan pizza was- that being said, everything was hot, fresh and worth a try.

Yelp
This review is for the Costa Mesa site of Rances. A little pricey, but the quality of the food is well worth it. It's so nice to see a place that continues to use quality ingredients and doesn't compromise especially while continuing to do business in California. Not easy! So I'd rather pay a little more and enjoy the quality of the food. I've tried their salads (huge/fresh) wings, the pan pizza, and the deep dish pizza all score a 10 out of 10! Elizabeth provided great service, even though she was there by herself, and there were other parties and people calling in for pick up. I do recommend calling ahead to order pizza because it can take anywhere from 20 to 45 minutes to cook. They're all made fresh. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
The pizza was bomb. Got the thin crust. Good flavor and buttery crust. Gonna try the deep dish next. Their toppings are the joint! But - the Buffalo wings! They're so good, they can stop selling pizza and JUST sell the wings! I'm gonna order 2 orders of the wings next time!

Yelp
Pizza is one of my favorite comfort foods, and each style to me is almost like a different cuisine.  Lately, I've been craving Chicago-style pizza, so this past National Pizza Day I decided to pay a visit to Rance's Chicago Pizza in Long Beach.  From back before the Pandemic, I remembered how good Rance's pizza is from visiting their location in Costa Mesa, but this was my first time coming here. There are those who believe that the very best Chicago-style pizza is only available in Chicago.  In my experience, there are selected venues in both NorCal and SoCal that do Chicago-style pizza even better than they do it in Chi Raq.  The best place I've found for deep-dish Chicago pizza in the Long Beach/Orange County area is unquestionably Rance's! Rance's has three different crust styles available - Tavern, Pan, and Stuffed.  The latter is what I've been craving for the longest time - it has a thick layer of crust at the bottom; that first layer is then topped with layers of cheese and the toppings of your choice; finally it's all covered with a thin, second layer of crust, and then "crowned" with pizza sauce.  At Rance's a "Stuffed" Crust pie takes around 45 minutes to bake, so you should plan accordingly. There are currently two Rance's locations, with both serving some truly amazing pies.  The original venue in Costa Mesa is located inside a strip mall, with no outdoor seating and a very modest indoor seating area.  This location (on 2nd Street in downtown Long Beach) has a decidedly upscale vibe for a pizza restaurant, with a cool, edgy atmosphere inside, and a small open-air patio out front on 2nd.  The patio is dog-friendly. On to the pizza!  At Rance's a "Stuffed" Crust pie takes around 45 minutes to bake, so I called ahead and timed our order so it would be ready when we arrived.  I went with a HOUSE SPECIAL (Sausage, green peppers, onions and mushrooms), and added to that pepperoni and garlic.  As it was placed on the table, it looked amazing, and smelled even better than it looked, so we dug in immediately.  The dough is darn close to perfect; the taste is simply incredible, and our pie was perfectly cooked; the crust held a very generous amount of toppings and sauce without getting soggy at all.  The toppings are all tasty and their flavor profile blends with that of the sauce and the spices into a veritable symphony of flavor!  Pairing the pizza with some excellent draft beer I managed to completely satisfy my craving for Chicago-style deep-dish pizza - all was right with the World :-) Now that I've reintroduced myself to the exceptional pies at Rance's, I look forward to returning and feasting on more of their amazing Stuffed pies; I'll make a point of reintroducing myself to their other crust styles as well.

Yelp
If you've been to Chicago and tried a real deep dish style pizza, Rance's is absolutely on point and does not disappoint! The famous deep dish is cooked to order, so allow about 30 minutes. They also offer pizza by the slice every day for lunch, including the weekends. Outside curb seating is available and they are dog friendly. Not to mention, they offer over 10 beers on tap, rotating and various ciders. Great place to stop and eat on a beach day or day of shopping.

Yelp
Wow! Been following their page on instagram and finally came to try it out. The CaesarSalad was surprisingly good -loved it! Meatballs w/ marinara was pretty good but coulda did without the bread. The deep dish med carnivore / house special and was more than enough w/ leftovers. The sausage and Canadian bacon were excellent flavors and the sauce was outstanding! Highly recommend this place if you are a fan of cheesy pizza. David our server was a pretty cool too!

Yelp
If you want to treat your taste buds come to Rance' Chicago Pizza! The food is incredibly good! As someone who has had Chicago pizza this place comes really close. I hade the pan style pizza and it was cheesy, saucy, and delicious. I also got their buffalo wings and they were amazing. The ranch was really good and I think they make it in house. The service was friendly and fast. My soda was constantly getting refilled without me asking. The restaurant has a bar and TVs so it's perfect to watch sports.

Yelp
I saw an IG reel on this spot and my bf and I decided to visit for pi day. We loved it! Service was great. Food was delicious. We ordered beer, a Caesar salad, wings and a small deep dish pizza. The beer was nice and cold, salad was prefect not too much dressing perfect amount of croutons. The wings were next level, loved that the sauce was not your typical buffalo sauce, it was sooo good. Now the pizza - AMAZING. We ordered the carnivore and added jalapeños. So glad we did, it definitely needed something to cut all juicy fatness hahah. Overall loved the ambiance it was a little busy and the wait for the deep dish was about 45 min but definitely worth it. Would be back again!

Yelp
This place has been on mine and hubby's "try list" for a while now. Coincidentally, a friend of mine recently said in a random conversation that their wings were fantastic. We both love chicken wings so we had to try those out. We opted to try good ole traditional buffalo. Boy were they excellent!! YUM. My husband said they were bomb. We also shared a pesto chicken panini. It was very tasty although a tad dry, like it needed more sauce. So we dipped it in our leftover dressing. Lol We didn't get any pizza this time around but definitely want to go back to give a try. The service was good and the food came out fairly quick. We'd definitely go there again.
