"I note that Rance’s Chicago Pizza is one of the tenants suing USC for $5 million, alleging USC’s Real Estate and Asset Management induced restaurants into signing above-market leases by making promises that never materialized; specifically, the complaint says USC falsely represented tenants could accept USCards but then never permitted them to, even as USC constructed a massive dining hall in the middle of the Village that did accept USCards—information tenants say USC knew when leases were signed but deliberately withheld. The suit also alleges USC nearly doubled the number of restaurants in the Village and failed to market the Village to non-USC customers, undermining tenant business; USC, for its part, has filed a separate action because Rance’s is several months behind on rent and says it will vigorously defend itself in court." - Farley Elliott
