We have been coming to Tia Rosa’s for years. The atmosphere is festive with colorful decor. The staff is always welcoming. Our favorite dish is the fish tacos with a choice of two (e.g., salmon, shrimp, white fish, crab), rice, and beans. They even come on special dish-shaped plates. The menu is extensive, sure to please everyone in your party. We’ve never had bad service or food. It’s a big place, too, so never too much of a wait. The outdoor patio is large and festive, as well, so when the weather is right. Highly recommend!

I felt the food was fresh and hot a little on the salty side but very flavorful. On the team was very nice the atmosphere was amazing. The restaurant was very clean. Had a great experience! My husband couldn't stop eating his very large pork tostada but it ultimately won and he'll be taking it home. 😂

Google
This is a great experience! The atmosphere alone is worth the trip. Takes me back to El Paso, TX. The food has a unique twist that I love. But, be prepared to enjoy the meal, staff is in no rush to get you out. Enjoy!

Having lunch here was a great idea. The food was spectacular and devouring. Our waiter was very attentive and helpful. Atmosphere definitely felt like in Mexico. Yummilicious. I defintely recommend.

Place was decent. The theme of the restaurant isn't so bad but it looks outdated like their booth seats i see dark stains didn't like the floor color. Food has decent taste but it's too pricey for me. We came about a week ago for a dinner to an important event we're attending. There was one waiter that ignored my request when I try to talk to him he put his hand up like a stop ✋️ sign and walk away from me. I thought that was super rude. I've never been treated like that in other restaurants. The lady that serves us keeps asking if we want a to go box while we're still eating. 😊 hmm I'm like where is the manners here. There's only 1 dish that I did like the taste among all we ordered the chicken quisadilla.

Google
This place, in my opinion, was the worst. It was nicely decorated on both outside and inside, which was nice. The menu was a bit boring. I placed a food & drink order regardless. I gotta say the food was so disappointing. The salsa & chips were a fail. The salsa had no flavor or spiciness. Never had sweet tasting salsa verde before - wasn't a fan. The food was mediocre at best, which left me disappointed. I don't even know where to start with the dried out, old looking tamale brought out with my order. The margarita was a letdown as well. Let's say I left disappointed and hungry for what I paid. At least the waiter was super nice & and attentive. Regardless, I will never recommend this place to anyone.

Google
Beautiful restaurant truly decorated like Mexican village. The service was great! The food was delicious! We went here a couple of years ago, and the service was horrible. We gave them a second chance and they seemed to have turned it around!

Google
Went for sat night dinner about 630 only 3 tables of folks there, I was surprised. Great atmosphere from the moment u walk in. Lots of room, special rooms for parties. Plenty of patio seating. Somewhat limited menue. I just got a beef chimmy. Food came pretty quick, but apatizers came with the food, not 10 min b4 to snack on. Food was just ok. No spices , just bland like it was for old folks afraid to light it up. As soon as u sit down you get chips n salsa. Salsa very mild. had a great sweet flavor to it, even the green sauce, almost like a mango flavor. Didn't do drinks so cannot comment on the bar. Could not see prices on the menue didn't have my glasses but usually can get some idea!

Yelp
A Triumphant Comeback for Rancho de Tia Rosa - Don't Miss Out! For years, Rancho de Tia Rosa on McKellips Road was our go-to Mexican restaurant in Mesa, a vibrant spot for Baja-style flavors in a festive hacienda. Challenges like a fire, COVID, and ownership changes dimmed its shine, but if you've given up on Tia Rosa, give it another chance! Our visit today was mind-blowing, proving this Mesa gem is back in top form. The service was phenomenal. Our server, Jorge, was attentive, courteous, and hilarious, anticipating our needs with a warm smile. He made the meal unforgettable. Manager Heather was equally fantastic, sharing Tia Rosa's journey through tough times with passion. Her attentiveness made her a true ambassador for this spot. The food? Absolute perfection! The shrimp quesadilla, our old favorite, was a revelation--juicy shrimp, gooey cheese, crisp tortilla. The guacamole dip burst with freshness, paired with warm chips. Beans and rice were classic comfort, and the margarita--blended with a sugared rim--was a happy hour steal (2-6 PM, per their site). Everything arrived hot and generous, rivaling any Mesa Mexican spot. Prices are reasonable, especially compared to similar restaurants, The vibrant decor--Cuernavaca-inspired with colorful tiles--creates a perfect vibe for locals or visitors. If past visits disappointed, I promise you won't be let down now. Tia Rosa has reclaimed its crown as Mesa's premier Mexican destination. Thank you, Jorge and Heather, for an unforgettable experience. Go now for a fiesta of flavors!

Yelp
We love Tia Rosa! Their margaritas are phenomenal and it's hard to only have just one, lol! Their food is good as well, as well as their soda. The only downside is the amount of mosquitoes out on the patio, and how hot it is inside of the restaurant. But I didn't want to take a star off for that. We also had my family birthday dinner here in the private room up front and it was great! We will continue to keep coming!
google avatar

Jonna L.

Yelp
This is the most average Mexican place. I went on a Monday so the margaritas were 99cents which was so fun! You get chips and salsa for free which I love, but the salsa was not good. Very sweet with no spice and it needs more salt for sure. I ordered churros with chocolate sauce and that was pretty average/underwhelming. They were a little hard, perhaps fried for a little too long. The service was fine. The restaurant is super cute inside, the vibes are great.

Yelp
Rancho de Tia Rosa's is the BEST!!! This is a classic Mesa establishment, and my family has been coming here for decades. We hadn't been back in years, but they did not disappoint. The servers were friendly and prompt, always making sure we were taken care of with chips and salsa (their green salsa is DELISH), and the restaurant atmosphere is warm and beautiful. Would recommend the bean & cheese burritos, stuffed quesadilla with beef, and beef chimichanga!

Chuckster M.

Yelp
Rancho de Tia Rosa is AMAZING!! The beef is so delicious that if I were a cow, I'd be a cannibal! The service is simply delightful, and the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL. When the time comes for my last meal, it will be a Rancho de Tia Rosa beef chimichanga, an horchata, and lots of chips with green salsa! MMM!

Wren D.

Yelp
WOW! This is an excellent mexicain cuisine place. The restaurant is beautiful and the servers are wonderful! One of the servers saw that we loved the green salsa and brought us four more!! Our whole group loved this experience. And no other restaurant can touch this food! 100% recommend.

Yelp
We love Tia's and their margaritas are amazing, especially their blended raspberry dream with a sugar rim. You get pretty big portions as well. My only complaint is that the air never feels turned on in the restaurant, and that outside the mosquito population is insane, unfortunately out of anyone's control though. Otherwise, we love tia's! And they can make gluten free enchiladas!

Yelp
The ambiance inside and outside of the restaurant is great. They did a really good job decorating. However sadly, it seems like lately the quality of the food has gone down. It didn't seem as fresh as it was in the past. As I used to frequent Tia Rosa. The tamale and rolled tacos were both dry. The frijole burrito was alright. However the chips we received weren't even warm which again back to the freshness as I remember they always used to come out hot. Ambiance 8/10 Service 6/10 Flavor 4/10 Value 7/10 Cleanliness 6/10 Overall I don't think I would come back unless something changes. Which is disappointing as this used to be one of my favorite restaurants.

Yelp
I would give zero stars if i could. We placed an order at 6:00pm using doordash, order was confirmed and was supposedly starting to make our food. At 6:45 they cancel the order, and are now listed as closed on doordash. If you look at the hours listed everywhere it still says open until 8pm. Today may be a holiday but they accepted the order. Not to mention we sat here for 30 minutes under the impression our food was already being cooked!
google avatar

Gina P.

Yelp
This is such a cute place to eat. The staff was nice and helpful. I always place to go orderes and order the grande bean and cheese burrito. The tortillas are amazing and this is one of my favorite spots for this burrito. My husband ordered the rolled taqitos, not impressed with the presentation. The carmel churro was delicious! They also have some great weekday specials.
google avatar

Sasha P.

Yelp
The ambiance and vibe here is authentic and cool. I used to come as a kid and this was my first time back in years. Food was good, not the strongest Mexican food but still good. Chicken tacos were delicious, and happy hour items were tasty. Our server, Gabriel, was attentive and friendly. Service was fast and good. Will be back!
google avatar

Lisa R.

Yelp
The food, atmosphere, service we're all excellent. I think I'll come here again. The server was especially attentive and I appreciate that.
google avatar

Graham G.

Yelp
Place was dead at 12:30 on a weekday but the salad was great! Fresh and tasty. Will def go back for dinner.
google avatar

Marti P.

Yelp
Apparently there was a fire and this place recently reopened. It was OK, the queso was good. Not too many vegetarian choices on the menu. I asked why the spinach enchiladas were not listed as veg, and the server didn't know. I ordered the nachos and they were over the top huge, to the point that they were really hard to eat more than a few bites.

Yelp
Stopped by mid-afternoon on a Monday. Excellent decision! The three of us had the Enchiladas Monterey, Sweet pork Enchiladas and a cheese crisp. Definitely liked what we had, especially both of the enchilada plates. Enjoyed the outside patio and it added to tgecdxperieService was great, and our server Kaleb was a great representative of the restaurant. Very personable. We will definitely come back when we are in the area.

Yelp
Open the cantina back up it was the best thing you guys offered. It was quick and convenient as always the service is great and the food is good

Yelp
What a fun find in Mesa. We don't get to this side of town often but we enjoyed seeing this restaurant for sure. Our server was super sweet and gave us lots of time to catch up with friends. The outside & inside has a Mexico feel for sure. Food is basic and lacked great flavor like you would anticipate given the atmosphere.
google avatar

Yelp
Food awesome, wedding was great. Everyone had a good time . Will return for sure. Julia was a great event coordinator!!

Shannon L.

Yelp
Thursday night went to get dinner. The restaurant was not busy sat down. We asked to take order you said we weren't ready so he took about 15 minutes to come back! We ordered and sat there for the next 20 minutes until we got tired of waiting because he didn't come back to check on us or see if we need more chips or anything! Shouldn't have to wait that long on a weeknight that's not busy terrible service!
google avatar

Yelp
The ambiance at Rancho Tia Rosa is fantastic! It's a beautiful restaurant inside and out. The mole was delicious and the service was very good!

Yelp
This place looks beautiful. Love the decor outside and indoors. That's what the 1 star is for. How do you NOT have jalapeños in a Mexican restaurant? How do you have 4 seafood items on your menu .... during lent..... on a Friday.....and not have 2 of them? We had Cadillac Margaritas.....WEAK!!! Did you even put tequila in there? Ok, so the cheese crisp was great! Crispy and cheesy. When we got there there was 1 table with 4 people occupied and us. The manager spent more time discussing with 2 staff members where to put some tables vs. making sure we had napkins plates utensils or water.....we've been there 15 mins by then got our chips and menus. The fish tasted like dirt/mud/ bottom feeling fish taste vs quality fish . The tacos were $6 each and maybe had a teaspoon of fish in the filling. Very disappointing. How do you NOT make fresh salsa? No Hispanic patrons! That should have been my clue. By the time we were leaving all the tables were filled with elderly Caucasians only. If you're own people won't eat your food... because they know better..... that should give you a hint!

Stephen M.

Yelp
Do not eat here!! Used to be good a long time ago. 5 star reviews obviously don't know good Mexican food. Seafood enchiladas had 2 old little shrimp, couldn't find any fish. $26!! Worst ever. Old skillet veggies were cooked yesterday. No flavor! Do not waist your money!! Really unfortunate to see the demise of this place. Do not eat here!

Yelp
Let's start with the reason I chose this restaurant to take my mother to for lunch on her 85th birthday. It's absolutely beautiful inside!! My mom was just in love with it. Truly a wonderful experience for her. Very authentic looking!! The food was so bland for Mexican food. Very disappointing. I can make better Mexican food and I'm German. The prices I thought were pricey. Wouldn't have minded paying that if the food was delicious. My brother snuck in before us and gave the server a cheesecake with candles to bring out when we were finished eating for my mom. We had to wait a while for anyone to even check on us, and they weren't busy, it being 1pm on a Monday. Finally my brother had to wave another server down and ask to bring the cheesecake. After a while our server finally came over to check on us and remembered about the cheesecake. Well he finally brought it, candles lit, and just handed it to my brother and left. So my brother and I sang happy birthday to our mom then sat there...they didn't even bring plates or utensils. Horrible service. Finally we had to flag down another server for our check, because we just wanted to leave and eat her cake at home. We did not leave a good tip. So, beautiful restaurant, high prices for bland food and crappy service. Too bad because this place could be amazing!! Gave 3 stars for the beauty of the restaurant. Oh, and they should play some authentic Mexican music!!

Yelp
Still great food and big amounts! I love Tia rosas ! Will always come back when I can.

Yelp
Beautiful building with a totally Mexican vibe. Ordered the golden margarita and a delicious beer on tap, had know idea they were both part of the happy hour special, just $7 for the margarita and $2.50 for the beer, extremely good value, and they were both very tasty. Our waitress was on top of everything, fresh, crunchy tortia chips, top notch guacamole were very yummy

Pam J.

Yelp
We used to always go to this restaurant and loved it but, we hadn't been there for quite some time. Thought we would give it a try again. We will not ever go back. Our fish tacos and seafood enchiladas tasted like food left in the freezer too long. Horrible.

Chuck W.

Yelp
This is our favorite Mexican restaurant in the Mesa area. The decor is so unique and colorful, the servers are friendly and helpful, and I especially like the many gluten-free items marked on their menu. They have lots of happy hour deals, also, plus they take reservations. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Adrianna S.

Yelp
Many years ago before the new ownership, we used to love this place. The decor, the atmosphere... Everything was fantastic, including the food. Now the decor is still great, but the food is subpar an extremely overpriced. Every dish is over $20. And not the best Mexican food I have ever had. The salsa they serve is not very tasty. The green salsa tastes like somebody dumped the entire bag of sugar in it, it is so sweet! I prefer my salsa with a little kick to it. And the service was timely, but not friendly at all.
google avatar

Sarah J.

Yelp
Where to start... I have tried this place a few times, dining in and to go. The food was mediocre and overly priced. Dining in, the service was 50/50. At first glance you are under the impression that you are at a restaurant that has great service. Wrong! We would get seated almost immediately, get water, chips and salsa, then advised our server would be right with us. No one was right with us. We waited a good 10-15 mins before the server acknowledged us. I get it, every place is short staffed. But really that's not a reason to have crappy service. Acknowledge your table, take the few seconds to see if they wanted something besides water. I've worked in the restaurant/bar industry and it's the lack of communication that irritates customers. My server I seen maybe 2 times. To take my order and to pay my bill. The food was warm but not hot. I watched our food get put on the line, then who I am assuming was the busser almost immediately got it and brought it to our table. Our food was not sitting up there for any period of time. Which gives me the impression the food here was reheated (not to temp obviously) verses cooked to order and then put on the line, or it was sitting somewhere in the kitchen for quite sometime before getting put up. Legit, those busser's are hard workers! It was because of them and my interaction with them that got you some positive remarks. Actually I should say my interaction with two of your busser's. Nice, respectful gentleman. Sad to say I haven't seen one of them for awhile. I can't remember his name but he always wore a hat. The other kid has been there the last few times, he has the curly hair. I'm going to need to see if my daughter remembers their name... So, now let's talk about the food. The salsa was sweet. Which I find strange. This is the only place that I've ran in this. The shrimp burrito, I couldn't even eat it. It smelled fishy and unfortunately the one bite I took, tasted fishy. Needless to say I didn't eat it. I ordered the Lucas chicken to go, got home excited to eat dinner and part of the chicken was still raw. Monday is 99cent margaritas!! A plus, but be warned it taste like all mix. Be careful and ask for prices with the adult beverages. 2 normal margaritas not on Monday cost me close to $30. It was gross, too sweet and mostly mix. The chips are good! Taste super fresh. I might give this place another chance... hopefully that busser is still there. From experience, a place with a high turnover rate, it's management that needs to be looked at. Bored?! Yelp
Rancho de tia Rosa was once a lively sparkling shining happy place to be. The food was good service was great. Everything was once lush and inviting. It's now dull, everything needs to be redone, the floors are dull with dirt and the food ... it's just not as good as it wants was. Shine the floors! Make the patio inviting! Get rid of the Dead plants! Refinish the furniture! Get cushions for the seat that doesn't look like they were drug through the dirt and then picked up off the Road! Recover the boobs..... (Hush my mouth google... I said BOOTHS!!)... THE OUTSIDE CANTINA WHICH USED TO BE A HOPPING PLACE TO GO IS NO LONGER USED FROM ITS APPEARANCE.... Very sad...

Tyler L.

Yelp
My gym hosted a grappling match here and tia rosas was an excellent venue. they really took care of us.

Yelp
Ordered twice over last month just out of curiosity as to the state of this restaurant. 1st effort- couldn't find my online order - even with confirmation codes- when I arrived. Fail. Wife picked up food - waited there to bring it home- and - COMPARED to what Tia Rosa's WAS the food wasn't acceptable for my dog. How could you mess up this menu so poorly? I've been a customer of this group since it was a simple walk up counter on Main Street.. 20 plus years. You must have lost the chef- lost the recipes- or as evidenced by staff I interacted with - lost the desire to be a quality restaurant. The only improvement now is you can actually get a table there for dinner... I now know why. We just ate our last Tia Rosa's meal.

Yelp
I love Tia Rosa's. I've been going there for years. Consistently great food. The wait staff is great as well.

Yelp
Went on a lunch date with my boyfriend today and I forgot to check-in. Was really intrigued by the beautiful decor inside and out. Very pretty. When we got inside, we asked for the booth but at the time there were no bus boys to clean the desired tables we asked for, so our hostess had to clean it again and apologized. Which is ok! I know everywhere you go everyone is short staffed. As we got seated, we waited about 20 minutes till a waitress was ready to serve us. We had chips and salsa on the table after we put our order in. The food (my order) was delicious. At the time (we went 2 hrs ago) they don't have the blue curacao liquor as I wanted a Blue Margarita. So I ordered the Prickley Pear. I thought we would make it to Happy Hour too since online it says it started at 2, but I guess ordering beforehand and ending our lunch at 2:15 didn't count the drink as happy hour. I don't know if I'd pay $17 for a margarita though.. That's insane lol I do however, did like my food, I had the - Sweet Pork Enchiladas served with butternut squash sauce, carmelized apples, Spanish rice and my bf got a Chicken Enchilada. I do recommend the Sweet Pork Enchiladas and maybe do go for happy hour to get the drinks prices. It was very quiet in the afternoon, but I know in the evening it gets busy as I see cars packed in the lot whenever I drive nearby 3 starts for me as the service was not that good. But would still come back for the Sweet Enchilada and hoping to catch happy hour to try the Blue Margarita (I forgot to take a picture of my bf's food, but he was hungry lol)

Priscilla B.

Yelp
Went to have dinner with my daughter. Sat in the bar area. She order a pina colada sub/the rum with tequila since she is allergic, was served with rum. Ordered the stuffed quesadilla and the Baja tacos. Both were cold when they came out, plate and food. We also got ask once asked if we needed anything to drink and that was at the beginning when we sat down and nothing after a once we ran out of water we were out of luck. We have been there before in the past multiple times and I'm pretty bummed that this place has gone downhill. Won't be going back.
google avatar

Terri M.

Yelp
We heard this was the place to go for 99 cent Margarita Monday...so we did! Margaritas were tasty, the food was delicious, wait staff friendly, helpful, and prompt. Very nice decor and a lot of outside seating. We will be back!! Cheers

Gracie J.

Yelp
Absolutely awful, me and my fiancé came here last night and I genuinely don't know how they messed up so horribly, our server was very kind but the food was terrible, the chips and salsa was the only thing I could stomach, the rice was nasty and tasted like it had been sitting in dishwater, I asked for sour cream in my bean burrito and there was more sour cream then beans and cheese COMBINED, I swear they put a whole tub of sour cream In one tiny burrito. The cherry on top was getting home from our "romantic night out" and VOMITING for an hour because the food made me so sick. My fiancé was up all night with a stomach ache.. sadly We will never be back to this restaurant
google avatar

Krista P.

Yelp
Came for 99 cent margaritas on Monday. First time here, staff was super friendly, but they were very disorganized as I guess they had a happy hour rush come through all at once. But, that is usually what happens during happy hour. The drinks were good for 99 cents. It's their house margarita so don't expect anything grand, but we enjoyed them. Food wasn't the best. I didn't enjoy the fish taco, it tasted pretty funky. Queso dip was good though. Overall, I'd come back for margaritas, but not likely the food.
google avatar

Judy R.

Yelp
This was the WORST experience at a restaurant I have ever had. We had a party of four, three of us order different margaritas. We sent two back(should have sent the third back) all too much syrup. We ordered bean dip for an appetizer absolutely no flavor. The food was cold. Remind you Table of four the first plate came out about 5 minutes earlier than any other food. We all needed a refill of water, they brought one refill and never refilled the others. HORRIBLE food service overall experience. Will NEVER go back.

Jeff R.

Yelp
Food was way overpriced and the environment was dead. Seems like the surrounding area already realized this as the restaurant was practically empty on a Friday evening.
google avatar

Christopher J.

Yelp
Great ambiance. Great food. Enjoy the decor and the meals provided. Always happy to swing in when we're in this part of town. Celebrated my father in laws 65th here and we had the back patio. Wonderful spot to host an event for a birthday or something else.
google avatar

Julioo M.

Yelp
Unusually slow for a taco Tuesday but it's 6:30pm and they close at 8pm. She had the salmon steak and complained it was too sweet. I had the seafood enchiladas, it was ok. The dos equis draft beer was on point. Chips and salsa were ok. The salsa Verde was also too sweet. Somebody in the kitchen has a sweet tooth. Recommendation on our dishes: cut down the sugar. Service was ok. Well decorated. Thank you!
google avatar

Stephen V.

Yelp
I should have realized when there was more north and south Dakota license plates than Arizona in the parking lot we were in the wrong place for Mexican food. Never again !

Julie R.

Yelp
You can't beat the beauty of this Mesa landmark. It had been a while since I had been there but met up with a group and was so happy to be back. The food was amazing, their 99 cent house margarita is one of the best around and the service was top notch. This was always our go-to place when guests came in from out of town. Can't wait to go back.

lesley

Yelp
Service was okeish, worst salsa of my life! (been seeing 2 year old reviews about the same complaint and nothing is done about it) why????
google avatar

Elvia A.

Yelp
This place is by far the most authentic Mexican place I have SEEN in a really long time, sadly i cant say the same about the food. Let me start off by saying, the food wasnt bad, it just wasnt authentic. The salsas they served with the chips, both green & red is grossly sweet. The pinto beans had a weird smokey taste to them. The spanish rice was kindof bland. The margaritas were ok but for $11 they tasted mostly like juice. Cant complain about the service, our waitress was sweet & attentive.

Brittany G.

Yelp
We're new to the area and went here for the first time today - the place was pretty empty which was surprising because it's super cute inside, atmosphere was great, and food was good. I also liked that I didn't feel super heavy after eating which I usually do with Mexican food. We will be back.

Alex D.

Yelp
I Probably will not be back to this restaurant, food was subpar and overly expensive, service subpar as well.

Yelp
No tea, ran out. Ordered Coke Zero , no fiz. Table was unbalanced and they offered no way to fix it. No chips or salsa was brought to the table. Asked for a manager and no one knew where she was.
