Barbecue classics, unique dishes, draft beers, full bar

"Newish LES barbecue spot Randall’s apparently had a sandwich board out with the message “Let us get you drunk and fill you with our meat?” in hopes of bringing people into the restaurant. Not exactly the most sensitive message considering all the date rape news happening; one reader tells Bowery Boogie: “Really obnoxious, particularly given recent headlines (i.e. Brett Kavanaugh). What a bunch of dopes—or worse.” It opened in August and has had middling reviews so far." - Serena Dai

"Randall’s, founded by Jared Male, offers a mix of traditional barbecue and innovative dishes influenced by other cuisines. Some experiments, like the Indian lamb shank, fall short, but the pastrami on rye and smoked turkey are standouts. The venue shows promise despite a few early failures." - Robert Sietsema
"There isn’t a lot of barbecue on the Lower East Side - but there is Randall’s. It’s a counter-service spot on Grand Street with a variety of things like fried ribs, buffalo wings, and smoked chopped liver. As for the barbecue itself, you'll find brisket, duck, turkey, and a few other options - all of which are pretty solid. We particularly like the sandwiches that they make on bialys from Kossar’s (right next door), and you should get the “Randall’s style” one with pastrami and chopped liver. It’s pricey, but worth it. And if you want a drink to go along with your sandwich, there’s a full bar." - Bryan Kim

"The Lower East Side will soon have a new barbecue restaurant from a pitmaster with experience at favorites like Hill Country. Jared Male’s new restaurant Randall’s Barbecue will start dishing out spare ribs, brisket, smoked duck, as well as options pulling from the international influence of NYC dining, starting Sunday, August 26 at 359 Grand St., at Essex Street." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya

"Randall’s Barbecue is finally set to open in two weeks. The menu features barbecue classics plus sides like fried eggplant, mac and cheese, and fried clam cakes. Benched tables and bar stools face an open kitchen. Randall’s started as a pop-up in Crown Heights in 2013." - Kayla Kumari Upadhyaya
