Randolph Tavern

This was the best pulled chicken I've had in a long time. The Guinness BBQ sauce was on the side. The chicken was so good I didn't want to put the sauce on it,but the sauce was so good I had to. The atmosphere was perfect. Semi lit but not dark,music loud but not obnoxious.

Food was average, good but nothing super special. Nice sized portions. Service was good. Outside seating was nice until the L passes which adds some downtown ambiance. We actually enjoyed it, sipping our drinks until conversation could resume. Overall we enjoyed everything!!

Minimal curb appeal, but surprisingly chic on the inside. This bar and grille has classic American fair with an elevated aesthetic that would be good for after work happy hour or a filling lunch to catch up with friends. The staff is friendly and quick to take your order and get food out. I ordered the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken and it was fantastic! Mix of sweet and spicy and a healthy portion to boot! It was a lovely experience and I would definitely go back.

Among the Bars here in the Loop Chicago, Randolph Tavern has the most delicious bar food. It has wide area good to host an event. All the food that we ordered was delicious. The 24hr BBQ Brisket was the best, the cilantro-lime rice was freshly yummy, the nachos and cheese curds was delicious and so as the chicken wrapped. The service was fast, our food attendants was attentive and nice. The place looks classy.

Stop in on 12/27/24 our last day in Chicago sat at the bar Evan bartender took care of us he was very polite, great service. His energetic brought us back up after we came in feeling drain. Well, definitely stop in again when we’re back in Chicago. Evan you keep up your great work. Thank again.

This restaurant is big. It can accommodate large crowds of people. They have a lot of different drink options and food. We only had drinks. The food did look really good. Our bartender was very friendly and gave good accommodations. They didn't have Malibu, but they had another coconut rum and it was delicious. I would definitely go back.

Really well-decorated tavern but the food and cocktails were not great. I ordered the BBQ combo plate to try a little bit of each bbq’d meat- I was told they have a smoker in the back so I got really excited. Unfortunately, the meat was dry and bland. You need the bbq sauces to really have any chance of eating it. The drinks also left much to be desired- I ordered the “Blush and Bougie” cocktail which tasted like sparkling water. My friend got the “Shake your Pom poms” cocktail and they said it was not very good either. The saving grace were the sides- the cheese curds and the sweet potato fries, although not top notch, were good.

Service was very slow. It took 15 minutes to get a drink. Secondly, the chicken was bland on the California club. Lastly, their Nashville hot chicken sandwich is not like any other Nashville hot sauce I’ve had. It’s usually has a hint of sweetness due to brown sugar. There was nothing sweet about it all. It was just a thick hot sauce paste. I told the server I didn’t want it. And he proceeded to argue with me for several minutes instead of just saying I’m sorry you didn’t like it. He did eventually ask me did I want something else but not without reminding me that he has NEVER in his life had a Nashville hot that had any sort of sweetness. “Just smoky and hot!” His words, not mine. I opted not to order anything else. I would only return for a drink maybe. Even with not ordering a full menu it was still an overpriced dinner of $61.

A casual spot in the loop for after work drinks. I have been a few times with colleagues and enjoyed myself. The drinks are good and strong, and service is decent. I had ordered sweet potato fries once, and they also were tasty. It does get crowded pretty quickly, but it is a large space with plenty of seating. It is, however, best to bring cash, as there is a 3% surcharge for credit cards. I was a little annoyed with that, as I've only seen that in smaller places, and no one can call this place small. However, it is a good spot to go to with colleagues, and I have no doubt we'll go again.

No clue why anyone would go here when it's literally surrounded by the BEST bars and food around. This place has absolutely disgusting food. I've been to this establishment "heavily",so I know. Ordered lots of food(business),none were edible besides the overly greasy curds. Not even the salads. Run down and inattentive staff. . Bar is dim lit because it's filthy. The service was abysmal--staff were rude, dismissive, and acted like they were doing us a favor by even acknowledging our presence. The bartender had an outright bad attitude, rolling their eyes at basic questions about the menu. Owner doesn't correct her staff,she needs to. They're wildcards and we've overheard their "drama" many times. So unprofessional. On top of that, the drinks were outrageously overpriced and absolutely not worth it. A simple shot cost **$15**--yes, for one shot--and the cocktails tasted like they were thrown together without a care. No selection. One drink was so poorly mixed I couldn't even finish it. For prices like this, you expect quality, but what you get here is far from it. A 40 oz. would be better quality than anything served here. The atmosphere? Completely ruined by inattentive staff and a sense that they couldn't care less about their customers. Honestly, I leave feeling ripped off and frustrated. I'm forced to go here,but no longer thankfully. We took our business to Monks around the corner. OMG sooooo much better. Staff are pleasant and overjoyed,they spoil customers. Food is fantastic at monks etc. back to my review of this crap show. Just save your time and money--there are plenty of places in town that serve better drinks, with better service, at a fraction of the cost. This place doesn't deserve your business. Terrible people ,vibe,and prices.

I'm surprised to see only 3 star love for this venue... tonight was packed. Service was on point considering how packed the tavern is. I stoped by for a quick bite since I had work emails galore to tend to. Friends, go for the shrimp tacos! It is delish!

I had the Wedge Salad that was not very impressive. One friend had the sliders and she liked them. One friend had the pear salad and liked it. It was very noisy.

I've read many reviews from customers of this restaurant that raved about the Fish and Chips so I had to try. I'm glad I did, the fish is crispy and flavorful. I must admit the batter and fish was seasoned very well. The customer service was phenomenal, I was greeted at the door and again when I walked up to the bar. I will definitely be back.

I actually really enjoyed Randolph Tavern and was surprised by the low yelp score. It is a very large bar / restaurant close the theater district making it a great option for a casual / lower cost bite before a show. I enjoyed their cocktails which seemed will crafted. The menu is very much bar / tavern style food (not surprising given the name). The portions are HUGE and I easily shared a single buffalo wrap across two people. The service was great here! I came with a large group (10+ people), and we never needed to flag a waiter to be served and the food came in a timely fashion. I highly recommend this spot if your looking for a more casual option downtown. It seemed like it would be good for happy hours, pre-show meals, and just drinks and bites with friends.

Checked this out with a few coworkers. It was a good place for happy hour. Randolph Tavern is one of the hip old style bars in The Loop, with a bit of a modern feel as well. Gets pretty packed especially on weekdays at lunch and during the evenings. The prices are pretty high on most things but that's about typical for location. A benefit of the location is it's easy to get to things from here. It's just a ways from the theaters and close to a few museums. This place is known for its many beers on tap, and the drinks are what keep people coming back because the food isn't impressive for the high prices. Expensive drinks and food. Way too high on most things. It's about $10 for a whiskey, and that's the cheapest shit. We actually liked the food, but it was too expensive for the portions we all thought. For the appetizer it was the Jalapeño Hummus. It's about $14 for a plate. This came with pitas and vegetables. Okay but not worth all that honestly. The hummus had good flavor and the vegetables were crispy and fresh at least. Good item for a little sharing among a few. The hummus had some kind of secret spices and while I couldn't tell what these could be, I can tell you these were all good. Even though prices are high, it's a pretty cool ass bar. It's like it has an old school charm but it's also modern. The prices are the only bad thing.

Very loud and busy when we visited, filled with young professional within the downtown area. The food was good, nothing special. The portions were very large. Waitstaff was friendly and helpful with menu descriptions. Small sized cocktails.

It was ok. Service and drinks were great. Food was fair. Salad was pretty flavorless and salmon was undercooked. Sorbet was very good! It's a fine spot for casual dining but nothing worth returning to. I'd say it's in line with reviews from other yelpers on here.

Great food and good service. We had a 5:30 reservation at the restaurant and were done with plenty of time for a show across the street. I was skeptical of trying the brisket but was very glad that I did.

Nice quit place to have dinner before a show! Food was good and the drinks very perfect mixed.

This is right across the street from the Cadillac Theater so we decided to give it a try. Granted, we had a group of seven but we gave a ourselves plenty of time.... about two hours. The restaurant is large with various sitting areas. Our group was placed towards the back of the restaurant, which was fine with us. The server did greet us within 10 minutes after we were seated. We all ordered a drink. When she returned, we thought we better order right away..... glad we did. We had ordered various items, between salads and burgers from the good size menu. I had ordered the Chicken Ceasar Salad. About 30 minutes, the meals were finally delivered. I agree with other reviewers, the service is on the slower side. Overall, it seemed all of us enjoyed our meals. Yes, we did have to rush out of the restaurant to catch the musical. Good food but slow service.

The best place to stop before a show. Service is quick and friendly and the shrimp tacos are my favorite thing in the world. Can get a little loud but that's to be expected for a bar restaurant.

I was so happy to see lunch business picking up at Randolph Tavern. I have tried a number of things on the menu and haven't found an item I don't like. The shrimp tacos, mahi mahi tacos, salads and various bbq offerings are very good. Today I tried the mahi mahi special with lots of vegetables. I was going to ask our server if the chef would turn the nachos into totchos, since they do have tater tots, but I went the healthier route and enjoyed it very much. I also sampled a cup of the chicken gumbo. It was a very generous cup and it was extremely delicious. I look forward to having that again. It was a filling, stick to your ribs kind of dish. I could easily make a meal out of that. It would be a great place for happy hour and even suggested it to my office manager.

Dined with a large group after a play. The staff were very accommodating and friendly. The food was OK nothing really special but it wasn't bad. However by tavern/bar standards it's pretty good and filling. I would recommend it and continue to patronize the establishment. I had the fish and chips by the way and it was pretty tasty.

Great lunch spot in the loop. It doesn't get crowded so we got a seat right away. Had the steak skillet from the daily specials last time I was here. It was super tasty and not bad for $16. The salad selections are also super decent.

Made reservations at the Randolph Tavern for an early dinner before attending a play at The Cadillac Palace. Was expecting the usual bar food fare, which was totally fine for us. We were pleasantly surprised, both by the variety of the menu, but also the overall quality of the entrees. My date ordered fish and chips. I ordered a small filet w/asparagus. Her fish was perfect--hand-breaded. My steak was prepared exactly as I ordered--medium rare on the rare side. Both entrees were generous, each enough for take home. Desert was irresistible. I enjoyed chocolate cheese cake, elegantly presented with sliced strawberries and whipped cream. My coffee served fresh and strong. The service was every bit as good as the meals. Our waitress, Melisa (Missy) was engaging without being intrusive, attentive, friendly, and professional. Randolph Tavern was steps away from the Theater, very convenient, and certainly safe walking. We will definitely return to Randolph Tavern for before/after theater meals, or a relaxing drink while in the theater district. Parking: Public parking (garage 200 W Randolph) is convenient to the theater district. I reserved/paid online (Spothero) eliminating a delay entering/exiting the structure. $25 for six hours on a Saturday evening seemed very fair.

The food is gross- cheese is gritty, drinks are premade and very sweet. Service was good but you can tell they are used to taking goor and drinks back. Some of the worst bar food in the loop. One extra star for the nice bartender.

We were going to watch Frozen across the street so we ate here. Sat quickly at one of the high boy tables next to the bar. Those seats were not meant for big butt people. I had to switch mine with a much wider bar seat. The service here was a little slow. The waitress would disappear for quite a bit of time. Our show was at 730 and we sat down at 6. We finished our food a little before 7 and thought we'd have time for dessert. Unfortunately by the time the waitress came back to take our order it was already 715. The pretzel appetizer was nice and crispy but they did not give enough cheese. The Nashville sandwhich was good but not as hot as it was advertised. The sweet potato fries were way overcooked/burnt. The only thing I enjoyed was my bottle of Stella.

Found this by accident on a travel delay in Chicago. Looks like a great place to meet after work or before a show at the theatre across the street. Our server was excellent. Meals very good. Especially the $15 milk and dark chocolate cake. We thought two would share it for $15 and it was HUGE! We asked the wait staff if they brought a piece that was 4 pieces in error (ie $60??) but we were assured we got the $15 version but it append to serve 4. Amazing and great deal.

The service was excellent, our server was a girl named giselle. My friends and I explain to her that we were pressed for time because we had a show in an hour and a half, but she is hurt us that the food that we ordered would be done and we would be out of the restaurant and to the show in time. I really appreciate the fact that she understood and was able to assure us that everything would be okay. She was right too, we were out of the restaurant and in the show by 7:30; The comedian we were going to see at the Chicago theater, started at 7:30 as well, so we made in the nick of time. But because we still kind of pressured ourselves and we were convinced that we were going to be late, I ordered the short ribs thinking that they were similar to barbecue ribs and I didn't ask. The menu said they were raised in white wine so I figured they were braised in a barbecue and white wine mix. I really wish the menu would have explained better that the short ribs were similar to roast, and I don't like roast very much at all. I was painfully hungry, and I didn't really care for the food but I wasn't about to complain and waste more time. I I fell in an unnecessary hurry, which was my fault, so I didn't really examine the food in I ate about half of it which was enough to situate my hunger even though I didn't really care for the meal. I'm sure The short ribs would have tasted excellent, if I had enjoyed that type of thing. My group of friends that I was with though, One of them ordered a steak and the other order the green goddess sandwich. Both food items tasted amazing, according to my friends. and we're immaculately prepared. Both of the meals certainly looked amazing. There is another reason that I was unsatisfied with my meal, but I don't want to make this a negative review, because when you sum everything up, the service was excellent, and the food almost was.

We were going to see the Lion King across the street. Was charged almost $30 just for 6 party wings and fries, not including tip. Too expensive for the amount of food. Service was slow. We had to woof down our food, to get to the theater on time. I was glad kids were allowed, but the price was outrageous!

Was there for dinner last night. The staff was friendly and receptive, on top of everything and checked in with us constantly. I ordered the Nashville chicken sandwich with tater tots. The tots were great but the sandwich was the farthest thing from a Nashville hot. It was a blackened sauce that was just pure heat with little flavor to it. I'd stay away from the sandwich or at least name it something else.

Best soft pretzel appetizer in town! The creamy mustard sauce pairs perfectly with the pretzels and it was so good we ordered more to go with our fries! For a bar restaurant, this is a great option and it's so conveniently located across the street from the theaters if you're planning on going to a show. The service was great and they are attentive and timely!

Stopped in for a quick bite/drink before a show at Cadillac. There's a "please wait to be seated sign" so I waited around for 5-7 mins without anyone showing up so I sat at the bar since it was just me. It took someone about 10 mins to even look at me and give me a menu. I asked for water at this point, which never came btw. 10 mins later the 1 bartender for my side of the restaurant-long bar finally came to take my order. I got a beer on tap, Falling Knife Verbal Tip, which took quite some time to come. She dropped it off and booked it before I could place my dinner order. At this point I still had an hour before the show, but figured if service was this slow, I didn't want to test the kitchen. Smart move since the check took 15 mins to come between asking and picking up. Funny thing is, she never started a tab for me. Had to ask me what I ordered to drink. I don't even blame the bartender. She was flushed and needed more help. Moral of the story--very very slow service. Do not come if you do not have at least 2 hours before your show or if you aren't in a rush.

Living with major gluten issues, is difficult-especially when I go out to eat. I called ahead of time to ask about their GF options. I told them I was interested in a salad dish. They called the chef, got ingredients, and I called them back. They told me specifically the ingredients of the dressing and it was completely GF. When I arrived, they knew about my gluten issue and they were able to prepare my dish separately!!! I didn't get sick. The strawberry salad and chicken was DELICIOUS. I'll be going back! My boyfriend loved his shrimp tacos.

Been here MANY times! Tonight, had different server's doing every task. NOT efficient at all! Please go back to old system!!!

I ordered the BBQ pulled pork sandwich on a pretzel bun with sweet potato fries off MealPal. Dislikes: - Food was lukewarm and I picked my food up on-time - The pulled pork was bland and dry. I didn't see any liquid root beer BBQ sauce as indicated on the menu. Not sure if it was absorbed into the meat? - The order came with regular fries instead of sweet potato fries. They were also mushy Likes: - You can't really go wrong with the pretzel bun

Came here for a work lunch and the place IS huge but man for someplace you think would be pretty busy for lunch given all the office buildings that are around it was DEAD. The four of us sat down and of course none of us were getting anything stronger than a Diet Coke, it's lunch time and it was one of those getting to know each other lunches. I ended up with the Cubano sandwich and it came with fries. Honestly, it was really forgettable, definitely short on the mustard and the pickles. For a place that was so empty you'd think service would border on the intrusive, with us being the only group but it was the opposite. Hardly anyone came around, we were seated at the back of the restaurant too, why do that when no one else is around? I'd rather get take out and eat in a conference room next time as a get to know you meal. At least I didn't have to pay.

Went here on St Patrick's day, spent a pretty penny as we were a large group. The first waiter was dismissive and tried to not give us a table even though there were multiple free tables, eventually sat us at the back far away from everyone which was fine by us. Service was slow but the other waiters seemed nice enough at first, the food was actually good. Eventually we were about to head out but forgot stuff on the table. We hadn't even left the side door when we turned around and all of a sudden there is two staff members trying to push us out saying we must go all the way back to the front in the cold and absolutely refusing to hear us out. The manager was passive aggressive and rude and eventually just got into a shouting match with a member of our group, claiming we were wasted which was just a blatant lie, we were just trying to get our stuff that they had cleared out. I guess they saw a group of black and brown kids and felt they could pick on us. Great food, great location, terrible personnel.

Needed a place to lunch before the 2pm showing of Miss Saigon at the Cadillac. Randolph Tavern was walking distance and did not seem overly busy so we gave it a try. Much larger inside than what it looks like from the outside. Lots of seating. We were seated at a very small high round table. I was disappointed at that because there were so many larger, more comfortable tables. As my feet dangled, I thought about asking to be moved... should have, would have, could have... sigh. On a positive note, the server was very nice. I did not catch his name but he was a shorter, Hispanic man. We mentioned we were trying to catch a show so he said he would do what he could to get us in and out as fast as possible... and he did. The food we ordered (see pix) was pretty good; it came out fast and hot. Nothing exceptional (except perhaps the service) but also not much to complain about - 3 stars.

This was an impromptu stop. We had dinner reservations and had time to kill and were walking around. We saw a door that said "Good Times Inside" so we had to check it out! We sat at the bar. Service was fine. I liked the feel of the place. It was cozy with nice decor. We had a beer and shared an appetizer, the bacon wrapped dates which were amazing. I'd be interested in trying more of their food.

Absolutely loved our dinner and service here. The atmosphere is fun and "cool". Very close to the theaters and parking. So many tasty options on both the food and drink menus. By far my favorite was apple dessert with vanilla gelato. I could have had two. The Al Pastor tacos were filling and delicious. High marks for this great place!

We liked this place. Went for dinner on a Thursday night before seeing a show at the Cadillac Palace Theatre across the street. Didn't realize how huge it was. Good selection of beers on tap and some nice cider options. It was crowded at 5:45 but we got a high top right away. Service was good. Had the spinach artichoke appetizer- nothing special but it came out quick which was good because the entrees took a lot longer but they were busy and the food was good. My husband had the Chicago Cheese Steak with tater tots and I had the Sweet Tea Fried Chicken sandwich with onion rings. It was pretty loud but a fun atmosphere. We'd go back.

I love this place. It's a short walk from the office and we are welcomed with smiles. All the food is delicious, plentiful and the service is speedy. This is a great lunch spot in the loop. By the way, I had the al pastor tacos at my last visit and they were outstanding. I'm looking forward to trying something else next time.

We went to Randolph Tavern before a show at the Cadillac Palace Theatre. We made reservations and even though the restaurant was busy, we were seated right away. The waitress stopped by our table quickly and brought us drinks. I ordered two appetizers instead of an entrée: the pretzel sticks and the cheese curds. My friend ordered a sandwich. All of the food came out at the same time. The dishes were hot and fresh! Our waitress was very cognizant of the fact that we were headed to a show after dinner, so she was very proficient and checked on us often without rushing us out. The cheese curds were tasty, especially with the sauce they served. The pretzels had the perfect amount of salt and were pretty good as well, but not the best pretzels I've ever had. The location is perfect if you are going to a show at the Cadillac, or even to any of the other nearby theaters! I definitely recommend this restaurant and will be coming back in the future!

Dreadfully mediocre loop "sports bar." It's not that upscale don't even try. Arrived for 7p drink and after we gave our order they told us that they'd be closing at 8p, contrary to the hours they had posted on Google (or on the door). Instant fail since like most social things, we had hoped for more than than 40 minutes... The interior is sprawling with table after table... but my friend arrived and the host refused to seat him before I arrived, despite literally 50-60 empty tables in the place. Seriously. You seat the guy and let him get some water, relax, and look at the menu. Beer draft list is decent (some good local choices), but prices are pretend Loop Prices ($9 and $10)... really a dollar or two more than they should be unless you're a rooftop bar or something. You can find equal or better quality in the loop for $7 and $8. Fried pickles were cornmeal battered (maybe?) and impressively dry. Tasteless except for the salt. I know, they're fried pickles... you don't expect gourmet... but these somehow managed to disappoint. Server and staff was gracious and on point. Don't put this on your list. There are better places within blocks.

It's a nice tavern. We went there for dinner since it was right across from our hotel. The service was nice. Our meal was ok, typical bar food. Nothing special. I had the veggie burger with sweet potato fries my husband had the beef brisket. I found it odd to have giant halved olives under my burger patty.. could have lived without it.

I walked in and found a place to put my butt. That, combined with a black out due to excess, make this a destination for anyone who has to hide their vodka in a work toilet. 9 stars

This place is spacious. Music/Noise level was average. The place wasn't crowded at all and the service was prompt. The lighting was dim and vibe of the place felt a bit romantic and chill. However, the food, not very good. I ordered the chicken tacos. The chicken itself didn't have much flavor. The tortilla it came on was lightly fried, the only part I actually liked. The 5 others in my party ordered a couple other things, one ordered a burger which was a bit bland that came with fries that they overloaded with salt. Another ordered the Mac and cheese and felt it was also a bit bland but edible. Overall the food wasn't worth the price they charged.

I came here for a happy hour with some coworkers for some food and drinks. They do not have any happy hour deals, but the food is pretty good! We ordered the cheese curds and pork belly burnt ends. I wouldn't say this place is a must-go, but it's a cool place and has ambiance.

We stopped by this place at around noon on a Friday for lunch. Our hotel room wasn't quite ready so we decided to look for a spot to eat and happened upon Randolph Tavern, which looked quite good from the street. We had a seat at the bar and even though this restaurant/bar is located downtown near lots of hotels and businesses, we were the only patrons in the place for the first while after we arrived. Our bartender/server was there within a few minutes after we sat down and we ordered drinks, then food. I had 2 glasses of cider, my partner had a margarita. I had the mushroom burger with fries, he had the soup and steak verde. The food was good; the total for everything came to nearly $72 before gratuity, so not the most reasonably priced lunch option. Note that Randolph tavern is VERY large inside, with seating at the bar, tables/chairs and at booths, so the chances of having to wait for a table here are slim.

Came to Randolph Tavern with a few coworkers for lunch. While we were there, lunch crowd was in from the area and hustling and bustling. We ordered the kale salad, burger, Bangkok salad and the Buffalo chicken wrap. The service was on par and put food came out quick soon after we ordered so our wait time wasn't long.

Sad state of food... Overpriced.. Steak was no bigger than 3 fries... Had it returned.. Joke!

Good food! A little pricey but that's what I'd expect in the area. Went around lunch time on a week day and the vibe was very relaxed. Lots of seating including an outdoor patio.

I ordered the Cobb salad for pick up and it was so good!!! A large size with a lot of chicken and toppings. I like the dressing too but I ordered it on the side.

I went here to celebrate my birthday last week with my friends right after work. It was around 7, and there was a lot of people. Fortunately we were able to find seats at the bar. The bartender gave us a free round of shots of Malort which was nice. We did notice how it took him awhile to get our drinks, but it is a really long bar. We also got the barbecue cheese curds which were really good but spicy. The bartender told us he forgot to put our order in, but fortunately it came fast. We wished we had forks because it was sticky. We had a good time since we just came to celebrate my birthday even though the drinks were a bit expensive for us. My friend left his credit card here, and I was able to retrieve it as my friend called them telling them I was picking it up. So if you ever leave your card, you can call them to pick it up.

I can't even give this place a rating based on the food. Only because we waited 15minutes for a server to come check on us, and it didn't happen. This is a waste of time place if you want good service. As we left (because no one helped us), one of the two blonde ladies at the front totally ignored us as well told them the service was too slow and that we were being ignored. The other lady looked mad too. But either way, it's not our fault you guys have bad customer service.
