NYC Restaurant Closings, February 2023 - Eater NY

"Random Access, the Thai-leaning restaurant from Hand Hospitality (Her Name is Han, Hakata TonTon) opened in 2021, with the aim of boosting the quality of food options near Penn Station. It served diner-y comforts like crab curry mac and cheese and mussel chowder. The restaurant has been shuttered since late January and Google marks it as permanently closed. The website has been converted to a private page. Eater has reached out to Hand Hospitality for more information." - Luke Fortney

Random Access Review - Midtown - New York - The Infatuation

"This Thai spot comes from the people behind Korean restaurants and , and it serves fun Thai and diner food mashups. You can get things like crab curry mac and cheese and Thai chili chicken and waffles, but we enjoy the simpler stuff here. Their beef noodle soup is a satisfying one-bowl meal with a generous amount of tender brisket, and they have a whole branzino that avoids being boring thanks to a mango-cashew salad on top. One note: While everything is super flavorful, it seems they purposefully omit spice. If you need some heat, ask for fresh chilies on the side." - Neha Talreja

From their decor, I assume the name "Random Access" comes from RAM (Random Access Memory). The ambiance was chill and the service was decent. The food was hit or miss. The pad thai was really good. The beef noodle soup's broth was good but the beef was tough. The raw shrimp salad had good flavors but it was way too spicy for me. I wished they had an option to make it milder. The shrimp curry mac and cheese was unique but wasn't anything impressive.

Delicious! Definitely will be returning on our trip back to NY! Every single dish was delivered quick, fresh and picture worthy!!! 5 people in our party and everyone (including a picky eater) was satisfied. I recommend the Clam soup, fried rice, and Tom Yum Shrimp. MUST GO. Get the desert too! Don’t be shy. The staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. They did not rush us out considering we were there for an hour past their lunch hours. Highly recommend.

Amazing place! I described the waiter my preferences in taste and picked the options he recommended to me: beef noodle soup (great flavor) and a sorbet with homemade mango-jam, coconut flakes and puffed rice as dessert (s. pics). The service was outstanding (very friends and attentive). Definitely will come back. PS: They have great lunch options for $10.00 (which included my beef noodle soup)

A good find, with good vibes and amazing appetizers. Got crispy chicken garlic wings, Sriracha dumplings and Thai fries. All three of them tasted great, the wings were perfect saucy and crisp, dumplings just enough spicy. For the main course we got chicken fried, dried egg noodles with crab meat and drunken noodles. Drunken noodles tasted great, the rest two were a bit bland and dry. Got all the special drinks and each of them was great. Overall, good place, good quantity, reasonable prices.

We fought a war trying to eat that flavorless pork bone dish. The bones are UNBREAKABLE. Left the restaurant with meat in every teeth gap. Other dishes we ordered were edible, but all came with really small portions. We were stuffed eventually by just mixing the green curry soup (not too many ingredients in the dish) and the complimentary rice. We reported to the waitress how bad the pork bone was, and she did nothing and no feedback from the chef. As we were ordering more, she just took our utensils, despite that we told her again and again that we are still eating. Their menu even had sauce on it. Not sure how they got so many good rating, but we are not coming back. The most disappointing birthday dinner ever.

This is a Korean, Thai, Asian fusion restaurant around 32nd K-town. The menu has many interesting dishes. It felt a bit like a tiny restaurant. Prompt service, food came pretty fast, and was delicious! The food had unique, interesting flavors. I am interested in delicious desert. I had such a good Coconut crepe cake with homemade cream. Prices were very reasonable for the amount of food. It would be better if there are some photos on the main menu(personal opinion)because it's a little bit hard to place an order. The service was great and the whole experience was fun and enjoyable.

I have zero doubt that this is the best Thai restaurant in NYC. Great value, great flavor, great ambience, great location. I especially recommend the fried morning glory dish. It is one of my favorite dishes now! I am going back soon again to have the morning glory.

We just happened to stumble on this place and everything was so so good. Would highly recommend this place. Things were definitely on the spicer side but it was just perfect For us. They didn’t ask what spice level we wanted so that must have been their standard spice level. So if you want less spicy make sure to tell them.
