The Most Underrated Restaurants in Denver | Eater Denver

"Downtown’s Renaissance hotel used to be a bank. Its three-story atrium is full of hand-painted murals, adorned with Corinthian columns and coffered ceilings, and space for private parties in the former steel vaults. At Range, founding chef Paul Nagan created contemporary twists on Colorado cuisine, such as green chile shrimp and grits, Colorado white pozole, and the field and stream board, featuring a bison brat, duck prosciutto, Elevation chorizo, and trout dip." - Rebecca Treon

Want a unique dining experience? Try Range🤠 They serve up plentiful portions of game and beef. They change the menu so it’s different each time I have been. The marrow bone and the mushroom dish is a must try. The elk was tender and flavorful. The steaks were done to perfection. And the service is top notch! Highly recommended. Best to get a reservation.

Google
We held the holiday team dinner for THE EQUINE PRACTICE COMPANY here... 21 of us in the vault! Charmaine and the rest of the crew were fantastic... from beautiful appetizers and well chosen wines to the meal choices. Best of all we had pescatarian, strict vegetarian and vegan attendees who came away saying they felt heard by their wonderful meals, too. The creme brulee was excellent with fresh coffee. Thank you!

Amy W.

Google
Louise is an amazing server. She suggested fabulous wine and made our night perfect. The broccolini seemed raw and hard to eat but the filet was done perfectly. Reward yourself with a crème brûlée because it was so good.

Google
Great food and cocktails when I came to visit for a friend’s birthday celebration with a group of 5. It was all of our first times here and we weren’t too familiar with the menu but our server Maggie was extremely friendly and helpful with her recommendations and knowledge, especially with the appetizers since we were sharing and had a couple of people with dietary restrictions. I’ll definitely be back for my own birthday!

Google
Louise was fantastic!! Her service was above and beyond. The food is wonderful. Best filet mignon I’ve ever had. We came two nights in a row because the food, service and ambiance was so enjoyable.

Google
We come to the range every time we come to downtown to see a show at the Buell. The Range is a wonderful place to come with fantastic service and food. Everyone works hard to make our experience the best. The food is always five star. We love the Range and will continue to visit. We had Charmaine, and she made our dinner so enjoyable, making sure we were well taken care of.thank you for an amazing experience and dinner.

Tess G.

Google
Delicious food. Filet mignon was incredible! Nice fancy evening with lower lighting (candles).our waitress was Charmaine!

Bonnie T.

Google
Charmaine our waitress was excellent at her job. She efficiently and professionally served 11 of us at our table from cocktails to appetizers, dinner and dessert. I specifically asked for her suggestions for a cocktail and dinner entrée as well as dessert and followed her lead: The choices were perfect. The food was served hot, timely and presented very nicely on our table! This was a terrific restaurant to dine, and Charmaine is an asset to the restaurant!

Yelp
I was disappointed with my steak. Sometimes this happens. It's difficult to tell about a steak until it's cut. The manager took it off the bill and comped me dessert and a glass of wine. This was a perfect response. I can't complain about it. My server was nice but spread too thin. The shishito peppers appetizer and the roasted carrots side dish were both delicious. The peach crumble a la mode was outstanding.

Yelp
The rib eye and potato pave were incredible. Definitely going back. The service was excellent. Valet guy suggested the Pave and he was right. Some of these places give you tiny amounts of food, but this is not one of them. Plenty. Wife and I took food home.

Yelp
I came by just before closing and ordered Halibut and Carrots to take back to the Hotel room. Nice portion sizes. Both dishes included a light sauce that paired well with the main item.

Yelp
Generally was impressed by Range. Service first off was incredible. We did family style so was able to try a lot of dishes. I enjoyed all the salads, apps, mains - except my soup (lobster bisque) was inedibly salty. The Parker house roll with local honey butter and milk and cookies were sleeper hits. Solid cocktails and wine selection. Notably great service - sorry I can't recall our server's name now months later but it was appreciated!

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch yesterday and had a delicious apple and Brie sandwich and added chicken for a great bite. It was an extra $12 for the chicken but it wouldn't have been as good without the chicken on the sandwich. But the real star of the show is the fries. They're fantasticly crispy on the outside and soft and perfect on the inside. I also tried my friends chicken sandwich which was also delicious. Great spot for a business lunch and they have a private dining room in the back if that's your thing. Super quiet spot hopefully it stays around because it a good spot in DT!
google avatar

Michael J.

Yelp
Adequate lunch last Tuesday afternoon, nothing special, nor bad, but nothing noteworthy. I started with a bowl of lobster bisque. Taste was okay, but the consistency was thin, almost watery. Then I had the filet Mignon. It too was just okay. Interestingly it was served sliced, an odd choice for the presentation. The bordelaise sauce was rather bland. As was the potato pave. It's always a shocker for me when someone messes up potatoes. Add some butter, add some cheese, add some salt and pepper. Anything, just a little flavor, some seasoning please! Service was attentive and friendly. Atmosphere was pleasant, classy.

Janelle A.

Yelp
The food was elegant and quite delicious. The filet was prepared well with hearty flavors, well prepared broccolini, and roasted potatoes. The prawns were expertly prepared and presented. Flavors through the meal were complementary and made for a cohesive dinner. The service was outstanding. They were professional, very engaging and very attentive. 5-stars!

Yelp
Had a lovely dinner on my last night at the hotel. The selection of choice was a delicious and differently prepared Caesar salad {not pictured ( whole leaf, house dressing, crostini, parmesan crisps) }; and a shared meal of Alaskan halibut with sweet pea & herbed risotto, meyer lemon butter sauce, and watercress. The ambiance is pleasant and clean with a very attentive wait staff.

Yelp
We had a business dinner at the range this week and it was extremely delicious. One of the reasons why we picked the Range was a good selection for a variety of foods. It was nice to be able to pick from lamb chops, fish, steak or salad, it suited a lot of palettes. Impeccable we had a fantastic server along with weight staff to clear tape and provide the insight into various dishes ... this is perfect for a dinner service for 10 people

Buffy G.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice. I found the restaurant a little underwhelming. I only had the soup French and soup was good but everybody else's food looked really good. It just didn't seem like the menu was that big service was great. I would probably go back to try for dinner versus a late lunch.

Yelp
Had high hopes for this place given the price range, but was really disappointed. It was a Sunday evening and the whole place was almost completely empty even though there had been a football game that night and a lot of people were downtown. The salmon was poached (and don't think it was labeled as such in the menu? Maybe I missed that?). It wasn't a very large portion for $42 and with only a bit of creamed corn/squash underneath. No salad. No bread. No real side. I got a side of asparagus ($12) and it was okay. The chili on top was a bit overpowering but I was able to scrape that off. And they were thick stalks, so could have used slightly more cooking. Bill with tip & tax was nearly $75 (no drinks, just water). It had that "hotel restaurant" feel. My server was very friendly and did a great job, though! But wouldn't go again.

Yelp
We went here for Valentine's Day 2025. I was not aware it was in a hotel when we booked it and thus were very glad we were seated in the main dining area and not the hotel lobby, despite, it being a very cool lobby and a hotel we have randomly strolled into previously based on the architecture. Our server was very attentive and friendly. We were seated in a private booth which was nice for the occasion. We got the pinot noir and riesling which were good and started with the grazing board which we enjoyed, especially the herbed goat cheese, but felt there was too much blue cheese crumbles and not enough crackers/bread for the amount of cheese/meats provided. We then got the short ribs and the surf and turf special, everything was very tasty! We finished with the maple cheesecake which was super good, but so oddly presented we honestly thought we'd received the wrong dessert initially.

Yelp
Wow! One of the best buttermilk pancakes in Denver! We have stopped in several times and the quality and flavor has always been spot on! These tasty buttermilk pancakes are served with maple syrup. And coffee and you've got a great breakfast! We often get our coffees from the Illy coffee shop also in the hotel. Service is great as this venue does not get a lot of customers. Yet, that's not due to the quality of their buttermilk pancakes - which are so good! Ambiance in the restaurant is good. Out in the lobby of the hotel, the ambience is spectacular! There are murals in the lobby area - the former teller area of the bank. The lobby is huge with the murals located high above. From the outside the hotel the restaurant is located within still looks like a bank with classical Greek / Italian columns and architecture. Highly recommended for their buttermilk pancakes and also the beautiful and historic murals.

Yelp
This was probably one of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Ordered: crispy Brussels Sprouts, Bison Burger, truffle fries, and Pepper steak. The restaurant is in a hotel. Pretty easy to find when going inside. We made reservation and were seated immediately. The vibe was upscale. Very chill vibe. No specific dress code. Waitress was great. She provided detailed answers to questions we had regarding the menu and gave recommendations. Everyone had a great attitude. I got the pepper steak and was concerned it wasn't a good portion but ended up not eating it all. The au gratin was AMAZING. It was layered with cheese and was addicting. The asparagus was well seasoned as well as the pepper steak. Delicious! My partner had the Bison burger and she absolutely loved it. She included the truffle fries. I thought they were ok, but she enjoyed them I would definitely try the place out. One of the best meals I've had in a very long time!!

Yelp
Maggie our server was fantastic! Knowledgeable and very friendly. She was upbeat and made our dining experience very enjoyable. The food was excellent, great portions and flavorful.

Yelp
I can't wait to visit and dine again! I took myself out for a romantic date night on Christmas and the service and other diners were like family. A divine and intimate dining experience for any local or happy traveller visiting our beloved city of Denver. The food is still making my mouth water at the very thought of it. Best ribeye I've had at a restaurant in a while.

Yelp
I've been going to Range for years. Don't go if you're in a hurry. Food is always good and Manager very friendly. Service is slow and hit and miss on quality of servers.

Yelp
Dear diary, today was February 16th, 2025. We went to dine at the Range restaurant. We ordered 2 of the 7oz Pepper Crusted Beef Tenderloins for our kids. Even with this price tag, the servers (server and the bartender) KEPT coming to ask to clean their plates. They expected the kids should have the same pace of digesting their meals. When we told one server that our kids were still working on them. HE TURNED TO THE BARTENDER AND SAID " THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON THEM". Well, yes we heard them. We definitely were not the last table but were treating like it. The inflation makes me more aware of where money should be spent and it will not be at this restaurant again,

Yelp
Stopped in for dinner during a recent visit to Denver with some friends and walked having one of the best meals ever! The restaurant is located inside a hotel but don't let that stop you from giving it a try. Service was impeccable and the food was super tasty. My table ordered the brussel sprouts and crab cakes for starters and they were a hit. But it was my entree - the Colorado Bison Ribeye - that was the true showstopper. It was unlike any beef steak I've ever enjoyed - it literally melted in my mouth and was so full of flavor. Highly, highly recommend this dish prepared with local bison. My friend ordered the scallops and she scraped her plate clean. Give it a shot if you're looking for a nice dinner downtown.

Yelp
We had a mixed bag experience here. Service was fantastic and the food was very tasty, but the crowd inside made it difficult to talk across the table. We had: Crispy Brussels | 13 smoked bacon, maple apple glaze, pickled fresno Smoked Bison Short Rib Ravioli | 42 house ricotta cheese, chef's wild mushroom blend, rainbow chard, micro leeks, cognac & cippolini onion demi-glace The food was quite tasty. My ravioli sat too long in the kitchen and was cold when it got to me. Our waiter, Alex, took care of it immediately and fell all over himself for it arriving cold. He rushed it back to the kitchen and he brought back a brand-new plate, steaming hot. The manager stopped by to make sure that the replacement plate was hot and apologized about the original's temperature. My water and my wine glasses never went dry as the staff was super attentive to our drinks. The restaurant even comped a dessert for us as the wait I had for a replacement entree was quite long. We took home a crustless cheesecake with a peach garnish, and that was some of the best cheesecake I've had. So yummy!! What was disappointing was that the dining area was very loud as there was some kind of conference going on in the hotel, and there were four large groups carrying on at a deafening level. Had we been able to have a more private table in a quieter area, I would have been happy here. I would be happy to come back again sometime.

Karolina C.

Yelp
Mia was sweet kid BUT she has a lot to learn. Beginning w/ which is salt and which is pepper! She served my beer about 2" from edge of glass. She said the fish was seared halibut. Look @it. It's pale & bland! The soupy sauce helped but if I wanted soup, I would have ordered the lobster bisque. Hubby had the brick chicken but it also had no signs of being flat under a brick. The sauce was displeasing though. That baby chicken deserved a better fate. Potato's were great & needed salt but she brought me pepper so I added pepper to the already peppered potatoes. Carrots were over salted. Everything was cold. The peach cobbler was nothing but crushed cookies & SUGAR and peach gerber. The fruit was unrecognizable. Bye Range! I will keep out of your Range from now on!
google avatar

M. E.

Yelp
Service is prompt and friendly. I am not sure I would come back though. Some of the people in our group ordered grilled chicken for their salads and it didn't look very appetizing. One person skipped theirs entirely. I had the Reuben which looked and tasted like a pot roast sandwich. It was too wet/soggy for the bread and definitely not corned beef. The restaurant is very clean and even though the tables are spaced a little close together, we didn't have trouble moving around when needed.

J R.

Yelp
1. Web site not updated so we did not know it was a limited menu until we showed up for reservation. 2. Was told it was the first night of Restaurant Week. I was thinking OK at least we will be able to try a meal that represents the Restaurant. 3. The most pretentious meal we have had on this trip to Denver and top 5 worst meals for the price in our 20 years of traveling with the purpose to eat. Food- Salad was 7 bib leaves two spoons of Capers, lemon juice and some Acid from? French onion soup was in a crock but it was half full and Luke warm. Chicken serving size was maybe 4 oz. Of meat. My steak was presented to me on a plate as two small chunks and maybe 5oz. Denver will struggle if this is what you will get on Restaurant week. Stopped and got 2 slices at a Boston Pizza place on walk back to hotel. That I recommend

Jenny G.

Yelp
Delicious, with excellent service. I often find that service in the most hyped restaurants in Denver is very disappointing, making me hesitant to go to the pricer spots. Friends booked a table at Range and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The mushroom risotto was incredible. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meals. The service was attentive. The space was open and a drop loud, but we were able to converse well. Plenty of gluten-free options. Portions were huge; next time I might order slightly differently to split apps and entrees. Overall, a very enjoyable meal.

Yelp
I was excited to try Range as I have seen it on Yelp for a couple years, so I brought my friend from Raleigh here last night. The service was great but the quality of the food was pretty sub par :( To start, we got a bottle of Austin Hope Cabernet and ordered the charcuterie board, brussel sprouts, and a bowl of green chili. The cheddar on the charcuterie board was like cheap Kroger brand cheddar! The green herb cheese was good but not great. The bread was perfectly toasted & went well with the fig jam and 2 kinds of meats (not high quality). The pickled veggies were straight out of a jar. The bowl of green chili was just okay, it had zero heat though so that too was a let down. The brussels were perfectly cooked & well seasoned though :) since the apps were lacking in quality, we decided to skip the entrees & just enjoy the wine before leaving. All in all, I was pretty let down by the quality of the food but still very happy with the service. For a "locally sourced" or "farm-to-table" spot, they really went cheap on the ingredients in the dishes. I don't know that I can come back.
google avatar

Katherine P.

Yelp
Located at the Renaissance hotel. Lots of good choices for appetizers and everything was really. Cool vibe and very friendly and helpful staff. The candied habanero bacon did not have any heat on it.

Valorie E.

Yelp
Very poor ambiance. Didn't even get to the food because no one bothered to even wait on me after being seated for 10 min.
google avatar

Katty C.

Yelp
I tried the Wagyu short ribs and the grilled angus filet au poive. The short ribs is always cooked medium-well, but it is very moist and juicy. It has a light coat of sauce over it, which I think compliments the short ribs very well. I will give it a 4 stars. For the angus filet, I ordered it medium rare and it is grilled with a pepper crust. The texture reminds me of a filet mignon, very soft in the center. It is not bad at all, but I prefer steaks with more character. Without the pepper crust, this angus filet au poive will be just a soft piece of beef meat. I will give this a 3+ stars. Also, they have no problem substituting the carbs with grilled asparagus, which is much better than the chopped lettuce other stringent restaurants give you. I have both orders to go, and the reception lady is polite and quickly got my ordered placed.

Yelp
Wow.... I thought I rated this but wow... Range! Located in beautiful downtown right by the federal bank this steak house was it! First off this location is just perfect, The views perfect, ambiance ... yes! My server very attentive! I cannot and do not have any complaints about this place. Very good for an intimate spot and for a special occasion. I love the wine selection however I settled for some bubbly to match my Ribeye steak and the sauce that's on top complimented the sides. Ugkkkk I wish I would have remembered the bubbly I had cause it was so damn good! I do plan on coming back here and dining. Thank tot range for the great service and atmosphere!

Yelp
When I stumbled upon Range while looking for a new place to try for a pre-show dinner, it checked all my initial boxes - great reviews, good-looking pictures, and (above all) a stellar menu. I made my reservation immediately. Fast forward a few weeks to the night of the reservation. My friends and I arrived and were promptly seated. First impressions: love the interior; perfect mix of elegant and cozy. The first thing to snag our attention on the menu was the drinks, specifically the cocktails. So many compelling options! It's one of those places where you're reading through the menu and you think "that looks good...oh, that one looks good, too...oh wait, THIS one looks good, TOO!" and so on and so forth. After much deliberation, I got the Buttered Rum Negroni and thought it was divine. We settled on the Baked Camembert for an app (delicious, loved all the little accoutrements), and then got the Moulard Duck Breast, Mediterranean Pasta, and Warm Brussels Sprout Salad w/ Salmon for dinner. Safe to say, all three of us were pretty enchanted with our dishes! My sister loved the olives and artichokes in her pasta, and my friend who got the salad raved about it. The duck (my dish) was cooked perfectly (so tender and juicy and delicious) and the scalloped potatoes were a perfect side. Overall, we really liked this place! The location is ideal if you're walking from the DCPA for a pre-show dinner, but also definitely worth a visit, regardless!

Yelp
A group of friends and I dined at Range together on a Friday evening. While the service by our incredible waitress, Paige, was excellent, the meal left much to be desired. We started with some apps: the bacon wrapped jalapeños, the smoked salmon gallettes, the pork belly, and the Mexican elote dip. I enjoyed the salmon appetizer because it was essentially a potato latke with smoked salmon, crème fraiche, and arugula. However, the jalapeños were so large they were difficult to eat and fell apart. For entrees, I decided to get a chicken caesar salad with a side of the truffle potato wedges. I love anchovy dressing so I was excited to give this caesar a try. Unfortunately, the salad lacked flavor. I was also expecting an excellent chicken breast to top the $22 salad, but was disappointed with the ~5oz of rather bland chicken. The truffle fries were crisp and satisfying. The drinks were great. I ordered a cosmo and it was made perfectly. Although the service and drinks were great, Range lacked the ambiance and quality of food I'd expect for this price point. We felt awkward being a larger group because our noise level seemed to be bothersome in the quiet restaurant. Range may be better suited for a date or business dinner.

Yelp
The best steaks my husband and I have ever had! Service was incredible. We went early on a Sunday, so it was pretty quiet. We will definitely return.

Yelp
We got into Denver last night and decided to go for a steak. We are staying in downtown Denver, there were a lot of options! We decided to give the Range restaurant a try. Glad we did!! It was a great experience. The restaurant is tucked into the Renaissance hotel. And talk about a beautiful lobby! It used to be a Bank building back in the day, it was nice to see the history preserved and added to. The range restaurant was on the smaller end sizewise but definitely packed a big punch. We went around 6:00 on a Friday night and we we're sat right away. Our server was extremely good, very friendly, had great follow up. I started with the green pork stew. Omg it was delish. My little taste buds were singing. At the perfect amount of spice, was topped with sour cream, so, so, good! My kiddo got the flat iron steak surfed with fries, chimichurrier sauce on the side. She loved the french fries, steak was really good. I went with the fillet which was served with asparagus and sliced potatoes. My steak is cooked perfectly and had a great flavor. The meal was top-notch! After we finished eating we walked around the lobby and marveled at the tree and beautiful architectural details. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Don't bother for a later lunch, as I guess those don't exist at Range. I walked in at 1:45pm and asked if lunch was still being served. I was told it was "a lesser menu now"...and was handed what amounted to a menu with ~4 appetizers, a turkey sandwich, and a burger on it. The restaurant had 3 tables occupied and 1 customer at the bar, so it's not like they were slammed. I should add that their food is generally very good and the staff professional, but this time I was caught off guard by the timing. They even list Lunch as running until 3pm, so I was confused. A couple came in and were seated, so it's not like they were closed. Thankfully there are many other/better restaurants in the downtown area, so I left and went to an old favorite a couple of blocks away.
google avatar

Inga W.

Yelp
We ended up not eating here. On a Friday night this place was dead. The ambiance was tired looking, not high end or elegant. It looked more like a breakfast cafe than restaurant. For the prices they charge we just didn't feel like eating there.
google avatar

Julia D.

Yelp
To start, we all got drinks--wine and cocktails. Everyone seemed pleased with them. The restaurant week menu was a killer deal for the main courses so couldn't not do that. The corn dip was pretty solid, a little overkill on the cheese and could have had more corn but still delicious. Main dish got the wagyu short rib and it was by faaaar the best part of meal. It was falling apart and super juicy. Would highly recommend. We got the bacon wrapped jalapeños and would not recommend. Would have been a lot better if it was half jalapeño. Our waitress, Paige, was so nice and accommodating especially with the size of our group. The restaurant is attached to the renaissance hotel and didn't think there was too much "ambiance" or decoration inside. Could have used some music in the background. Overall, it was a good meal but I don't see myself going back.
google avatar

Rachel M.

Yelp
Splendid pre-show dinner downtown Denver! My friend and I were heading to Comedy Works after dinner and joyfully embraced the three hours of complimentary valet parking here. We split an appetizer of Pork Belly (juicy, flavorful, and the perfect amount!) and each ordered our own Wagyu Flatiron (delicious & comes with an arugula salad and potato wedges on the side). I enjoyed every bite of this meal. I didn't order a drink but appreciated the creative cocktail list! The interior is elegant, upscale, classy. I felt slightly underdressed wearing jeans and a preppy top. Festive piano and sax were being played in the lobby of the hotel next to the restaurant. Beautiful experience!
google avatar

Robert P.

Yelp
While visiting Denver, we weee looking for places to dine for breakfast. Breakfast menu here was limited. Food ok. Service was great.

Ashley D.

Yelp
Amazing!!! Service, food, atmosphere great!!! Located in DT with free valet parking if you get the sticker from the hostess.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
The food was phenomenal, although I had two gnat-like flies on my salad. I would still come back here though, I like that the restaurant is inside the hotel as well but also feels separate from it so whether your staying at the hotel or just passing by, it's a great atmosphere. My suggestion: Their wedge salad with steak. The steak was cooked exactly how I asked for it; medium rare.
google avatar

Michele C.

Yelp
We stayed at the Renaissance and loved this restaurant! Burrata cheese app with the bacon wrapped jalapeños started us off. So delicious! My husband had pork chili and I had chicken tortilla soup! Both were amazing. Trey was the bartender and our server. He recommended a Cabernet Sauvignon that was perfect! He was busy yet so attentive to us. Highly recommend this restaurant and appreciate Trey's service!!

Michaell D.

Yelp
The food was excellent. The service was average. We had a party of 10. There is an automatic "service charge" of 20% with parties of 8 or more. Somehow they overcharged me with a 45% service charge. The server did not notify me of any service charge for my group so I put my own 20% tip, which worked out to be a 70% tip! Check your bill before you pay! I called and they said they would refund me the difference.
google avatar

Pao L.

Yelp
Great location and atmosphere. The food was good and the service by our waitress (Heather) was awesome. Our food came out quickly.

Yelp
It's difficult to understand the reviews given so far. Our experience was average at best. The ambiance is not very welcoming it's a crowded space that is not very relaxing. The chairs are too low for the table giving you that kid at the adult table feeling. The food, especially the scallops are extremely salty bordering on inedible. The risotto accompanying the dish was way too buttery. The flatiron steak was decent accompanied by ok steak fries and an average salad. The server did a good job pacing the meal The best thing was the bread service.

Yelp
Food was good and service was decent. Location is convenient in downtown and walkable to most things.

Yelp
I will preface this by saying that we did not try the food so this is in no way indicative of the quality of the food. We walked in and asked for a table for 2 which took a few minutes... completely understandable. Once seated, the mostly empty restaurant had 2 waiters it seemed, none of which came to check on us which is also fine because I understand they had other tables to attend to. Our water pitcher was completely empty and still no one attended to us. After 25 minutes, 2 other tables had been seated and their orders had been taken. It was very frustrating so we ended up just leaving. The interior is very nice, but the space amplifies and echoes noises so everyone's conversations were very loud and reverberated around. Maybe it was just an off night, but I don't think there's ever an excuse for such poor service.

Yelp
We went out to the Range on Thanksgiving late afternoon for our meal. The restaurant is located at the Renaissance Hotel's lobby. The Range and the hotel is situated in the former Colorado National Bank. Go down to the restrooms to check out the vaults....very cool and historic. Two helpful hosts warmly greeted us upon arrival. Since there was a snowstorm earlier in the day, the host offered to secure our heavy coats; which they did. Our server, Michael, promptly took our wine and appetizer orders. We shared a bottle of Malbec wine. The thin wine glasses were ideal and perfect for wine sipping. We started with the field & stream charcuterie appetizer block. This was a unique starter (duck prosciutto, goat chorizzo, buffalo bratwurst, and salmon dip) with bruchetta toast, and hot mustard. This starter board was quite good & interesting. I wanted to go meatless for my entree. I ordered the vegetable Sheppard's pie. So good. The "pie" is savory and rich Delicious carrots, onions, and potato clouds. My small party enjoyed their entrees. The holiday meal plan was perfect. The red wine made everything warmer, friendly, and elegant. The lighting is perfect..dim, cozy, with perfect crayon colors (browns, prairie beiges, autumn leaves, burnt orange, sky blues, and some filed greens ). The staff hit the right notes. They are all warm and polite. Our server Michael was impeccable...Friendly, funny, efficient, warm and polite. Thanks for a terrific evening Michael. Kevin, the food and beverage manager, brought us our coats and warmly thanked us for coming in and bid a warm farewell. Overall, a tasty and very memorable holiday meal. I will stop here for dinner again on my next visit to Denver.

Yelp
Enjoyed my meal here. Colorado green chili for an app had all the flavor of the peppers without the spice (I'd have liked the spice but those who do not really enjoyed the dish). The short rib was perfectly cooked and fork tender, with au jus served on the side. Chocolate layer cake for dessert was enormous and best shared by at least 3 people. I had a glass of Austin hope which was $19-a steep markup considering an entire bottle is available online for about twice that. Overall an excellent meal and I'd definitely return.
