Raosu Hotpot is a stylish, upscale hotpot spot that is located in an area that is somewhat bereft of hotpot options.
Immediately, we were drawn to the indoor decor. It is pretty lavish looking, spacious, and feels more modern than traditional (as opposed to most hotpot spots).
We opted for the AYCE hotpot for $49.99/pp (+$19.99 for the broths). So for a dinner for two, you'd be looking at a $60/pp AYCE which is certainly expensive. We opted for three broths: the raosu special pot (it's a herbal/bone broth), the delicious tomato beef brisket pot (which is indeed delicious), and the spicy beef butter pot.
Would recommend the tomato and the spicy beef broths, but that's just my preference (I normally don't like the herbal bone broth). The sauce station is adequate but I do wish they had hoisin sauce and other sweet options (the only way to make it sweet was to add sugar).
Now, the reason the AYCE for $49.99 is worth it: three words. Snow Crab Legs. Get them. And then drop them into the broth, wait for the legs to completely soak in the broth, pull them out after a while, crack them open and enjoy! The snow crabs are tasty, filling, and absolutely a must!
We ordered the spicy Szechuan style beef, the premium lamb, the beef filet, the abalone (didn't think much of it, but do try it, especially since it is considered a delicacy!), Lotus root, fried tofu, enoki mushrooms, watercress, beef in two kinds of pepper. You can easily tell that the quality of the meats is high. We really enjoyed our food! The crispy chicken appetizer is okay (too much crispy, too little chicken, if you catch my drift).
Until tomorrow (Jun 30), I believe, if you write a review for the business...literally what I am doing right now...they offer a free cocktail, a free sashimi platter, and a complimentary lobster! We got all of those. The passion fruit mojito cocktail was a little too sweet for my liking, but kept getting better as the ice melted and watered it up. The lobster and sashimi platter were both excellent, and the sashimi platter presentation is gorgeous (the platter looks like a little boat).
We never got our cucumber salad, fish tofu, shiitake mushrooms, and beef short ribs. That's the thing with AYCE. If food you ordered didn't arrive, you pause for a sec and maybe wonder if that's for the best (because there is so much to eat anyway)?
The waiters are really courteous. And I mean it. They were trying their best, and tried to be as helpful as they could be! It did get pretty busy when we started our dinner, and at that point it was hard to grab anyone's attention to order. And when they did bring our order, it would be incomplete. Or at times we were given the wrong item. If they're able to improve upon that aspect of the service, that would be a big W for the business. At the same time, when it was less crowded, the quality of the service shot up.
It isn't by any means a cheap dinner. With two, you'd probably be footing a $150+ bill by the end. But at the same time, it was absolutely worth it for us to pay that amount of money for good quality meats, snow Crab legs, abalone, lobster, etc. Maybe we might come here again with a larger group!
